Frog Log Saves Critters

Swimming Pool and Pond owners have often experienced the heartbreak of removing small lifeless creatures (Frogs, Turtles, Chipmunks, Lizards, Birds, etc.) from their pool, pond or skimmer basket. IPPCA Gains Support of NAPP Membership

On Wednesday May 15th the IPPCA (International Professional Pond Companies Association) accepted the membership base of the NAPP (National Association of Pond Professionals) in an attempt to unify the industry.

The IPPCA, based in Woodstock GA, has agreed to honor the current membership levels of all paid NAPP members. According to IPPCA president John Olson, „This move, in one bold stroke, unites the pond industry and sends a message to everyone that their interests will be represented by a single trade organization open to all‰.

Mike White, IPPCA Senior Vice President adds, „In the coming weeks and months the IPPCA will support its newly increased membership base with a series of events promoting greater product knowledge, marketing assistance, and legislative representation.‰

At this time the IPPCA is working directly with the NAPP board of directors to conduct a smooth transfer of members to the IPPCA roster. Following the successful transfer of members the NAPP will formally dissolve but its president and others will continue to play a crucial role in the betterment of the industry. A personal welcome package is being sent to all NAPP members to help introduce them to the IPPCA. Plans are in the works to personally contact each new IPPCA member to further explain the many benefits and opportunities newly available to them.

The IPPCA Board of Directors are very pleased to announce that on May 15th our industry organization will grow substantially. Over the last several years contractors, dealers, distributors, and manufacturers have asked us if the pond industry could ever be united under one organization. Seeing the growing threat of governmental regulation along with an ever diversifying marketplace the IPPCA and NAPP organizations both saw the benefits of mutual cooperation. Uniting the members of both trade associations would provide us with more potential to fully represent everyone and help move our industry ever forward.

In order to help our industry and the associations that represent it reach their full potential I, along with IPPCA Vice President Mike White, have been in talks with Interim NAPP president Warren Thoma. These talks quickly revealed that both organizations understood our effectiveness would increase exponentially by combining members and having everyone work together towards the betterment of the industry. After considerable discussion between both boards of directors we reached an agreement that we feel confident will propel the industry to new heights.

On May 15th paid members in good standing with NAPP will be extended a corresponding level of membership in the IPPCA. At that time these new members will be granted the full benefits and privileges that IPPCA members now enjoy. NAPP members who have passed the NAPP written certification test will be allowed to pursue full IPPCA certification by completing the non written requirements we have in place. To avoid confusion to the pond industry the NAPP will formally dissolve their organization. We look forward to the ideas and efforts their members will bring to the expanded IPPCA association.

The next few months will undoubtedly be exciting times for all of us who make our living in this industry. The world, and the way we do business is ever changing and we as an industry must change with it. With the addition of these many new members the IPPCA, as an organization, and we as a industry, stand the best chance of continuing the growth and prosperity of all pond businesses. Over the next year you can expect expanded educational opportunities, better information of legal issues that affect you, better communication from your pond association, and increased support from every facet of our industry.

I wish to thank each and every one of you for the support you provide to the IPPCA and I wish to thank the board members of each organization for their wisdom and foresight in uniting behind one industry banner.

NAPP Folds into IPPCA

Announcement from Warren Thoma, Interim NAPP President

Over the last few years we have seen unprecedented changes to our pond industry as well as to our NAPP organization. An unsteady economy, shifting consumer’s needs, and restrictive governmental regulation have forever changed the face of our industry. These changes bring about many challenges to our association members and a few new opportunities as well. One such opportunity has emerged which can help unify the pond industry and better prepare us to successfully grow our businesses now, and in the future.

When Mark Krupka stepped down as NAPP president I accepted the position of interim president with the sole goal of charting the best possible course for our association members. With NAPP board approval I entered in negotiations with the IPPCA (International Professional Pond Companies Association) to eliminate the needless redundancy of having two separate pond industry trade associations and to join our forces to propel all industry professionals to new levels of prosperity. These talks have been overwhelmingly successful and board members of both organizations are excited at the potential created by a single, all inclusive, trade association.

Approximately 2 weeks ago the board of directors of NAPP voted to move forward on a proposal to combine the memberships of both trade groups. I am pleased to announce that on May 15th NAPP members in good standing will become members of the new IPPCA. The new IPPCA will extend to all current paid NAPP members full equal membership into the corresponding membership level in the IPPCA. To further assist our members the written NAPP pond certification exam will be honored by the IPPCA and individual assistance and guidance will be provided towards full physical IPPCA certification. Additionally all current NAPP members will receive a one-time discount for membership renewal towards the advancement of a higher single trade organization membership level. Those NAPP members who wish to no longer have their business interests represented by a trade association may simply opt out of this opportunity.

NAPP has been assured that every courtesy and membership benefit will be extended to our members and each member will receive a welcome packet with valuable discounts, benefits, and opportunities. The combined strength of these two organizations will pave the way to greater marketing opportunities, education and business building opportunities. Perhaps most importantly we will achieve the collective strength needed to proactively represent our industry in the face of growing government interference.

While the NAPP name and entity will be gone let me assure you that your NAPP officers and directors will continue to offer the pond industry and its trade association their best advice and guidance as we move forward with our combined membership.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as interim president and all of us look forward to working with you further as we propel the pond industry through everyone’s efforts and energy under the IPPCA to new heights.

Ecological Laboratories, Inc. has promoted Kevin Mouzon to Assistant Vice President of Production. Mouzon began his employment with ELI in 1989, in the company’s Long Island, NY location. In 1999, he relocated to the manufacturing plant in Cape Coral, FL, where he now presides over all production staff for every product selection offered by the Ecological.
