Unfortunately, they are not the same and should be kept separate at all times. Adsense and Adwords are actually the two separate components that Google uses to place relevant ads on web sites across the internet.
Adwords is the component that people who wish to advertise their sites use in order to gain exposure across the web. Adwords is separate from Adsense, but as they are so closely related, it is understandable how somebody could misuse the two terms.

Adsense is the component that allows people to place ads on their site and get paid a small commission for each click. Adsense is one of the most profitable online advertisement publishing services available, and it has the added benefit of being fairly family friendly. As far as relevance of the ads on your site, Adsense is the best. There is no other service available that provides ads that are as relevant and interesting as those that Google provides. It is rare that you encounter an ad that is not closely related to the content of your web page and if you do encounter such an ad, it was triggered by a word of phrase within you’re the page that it appeared on.

If you optimize for AdSense, you’re sure to make more money than you thought you would. Residual income is one of the best ways to make money on the web right now, and this article will show you how to make the most of it on your website.
Before you read on, go over to adsense.google.com and take their guided tour. This tour will give you a full overview of what Google AdSense is and how it works, so check it out. Done that? Great! Let’s continue.
Positioning.

Where you put your AdSense link boxes and banner ads is vitally important – trying to make money by putting them at the bottom of the pages is useless. You need to go a step further and have AdSense links right in the heart of your template, or as close to it as you can get. The best way to determine if your ads are in a visible place is to make sure that they are "within the fold." the "fold" is the top five hundred pixels of your page. The reason that this is such great real-estate, if you will, is because most browsers at most resolutions will display this portion of your site without your visitor having to scroll. If you really want to use sub-prime positions, then you should use more than one.
Linking.

The ad links you put on your site appear as if they were just another menu – this is fairly new, and it works very well. By adding Google links to your menus, you can get more click-throughs than you’d ever expect. You might not fully understand it until you try it, but once you’ve got the system in place, you’ll find that many people won’t even realize that the links they’re clicking don’t belong to you, and they’ll find them useful all the same
Leaderboards and Skyscrapers.

Google AdSense comes in all shapes and sizes. You can put it across the top of your website (a leaderboard) or down the side (a skyscraper), and there are plenty of other choices. These ads might become your bread and butter in the future, so it’s good to learn as much as you can about them now. The best place to put these ads will be relatively obvious – anywhere else just won’t look right.

How Firefox Works (3)

Firefox Basics

The easiest way to learn about Firefox is to go ahead and download it (it's free). You can find it at the official site: http://www.getfirefox.com. There you'll find the latest version of Firefox: Firefox 3. If you're hesitant to install and learn to use a new program, rest assured that Firefox looks and acts very similar to Internet Explorer and most other Web browsers. There's even a feature for IE users that lists the expressions with which you're familiar and tells you the corresponding Firefox names for those functions.

At the top of the screen, you'll find the Awesome Bar (a space for typing in Web addresses), a small search panel and a row of buttons -- the typical tools for common Web-surfing activities. Forward, back, home, reload and stop can all be found in this basic setup. These buttons, like just about everything else in Firefox, are fully customizable. You can rearrange them, get rid of some of them or add new ones.

he Awesome Bar isn't just a place to type in Web site URLs. It's linked to your browsing library. If you visit a site like HowStuffWorks.com regularly, Firefox's Awesome Bar will learn and anticipate your browsing habits. As soon as you begin typing "how," the browser will pull up a list of sites you've visited that it thinks you want. You can just pick from the list in the drop-down menu and the browser will take you there directly.

Now, if Firefox is so similar to Internet Explorer, why bother switching? There are quite a few reasons, but the most important for many users is security.

There is much debate over the security of Web browsers, stemming mainly from Internet Explorer's vulnerability as a common target for hackers and virus writers. Microsoft regularly releases patches and updates to fix security holes in Internet Explorer that might allow someone to install malicious software or steal information from a computer. Firefox has not been the focus of hackers so far, but that doesn't mean it's inherently safer. For now, Firefox is enjoying a reprieve from viruses and hackers primarily because, compared to the widespread use of Internet Explorer, it is relatively small-time. Most hackers haven't bothered exploiting Firefox yet, because the low yield means it wouldn't be worth their efforts. As Firefox becomes more popular among Web browsers, that may change. See the Firefox Security section on the next page to learn more.

Now let's take a closer look at Firefox's features and see how they can be expanded.

Happy Blogging

How Firefox Works (2)

Firefox History

The origins of Firefox can be traced directly to Netscape, a company whose Web browser, Netscape Navigator, was the dominant browser before Microsoft developed Internet Explorer. The internal company name for the browser was Mozilla. Eventually, Netscape released the source code for Navigator under an open source license, meaning anyone could see and use the code. A non-profit group was set up to direct the development of browsers using this code. This group became the Mozilla Foundation in 2003.

However, Firefox is not the browser the Mozilla group would have released if everything had gone as planned. Like Netscape Navigator before it, the Mozilla software was becoming bigger and bigger as more features were added in -- a problem in software development known as "feature creep" or "bloat." Enter Blake Ross, a computer enthusiast who first started helping out the Mozilla project as a hobby when he was 14. Instead of accepting feature creep, Ross decided to start developing his own Mozilla-based browser, focusing on a streamlined and simple version. Software developer Dave Hyatt also played a major role. Ross was joined by Ben Goodger in 2003, and development progressed rapidly from that point.

At first, the browser that would be known as Firefox was known as Phoenix. There were trademark problems, however, so the name was changed to Firebird. Another software company had a project known as Firebird, so the name was again changed.Firefox was chosen because it was distinctive, and no one else was using it (although it turned out a European company did own the trademark to the word Firefox, and a deal was reached).

When Firefox was still in the beta stage (when a program hasn't been publicly released, but people can download and use it to help find and fix problems), it was already generating a healthy buzz among tech-savvy Web surfers. In just four months after the official release on Nov. 9, 2004, an estimated 23 million people downloaded Firefox. Web tracker OneStat.com reported on Nov. 22, 2004, that Internet Explorer's share of Web browser use had dropped five percent since May of that year. Firefox had a user percentage of 4.5 percent. Current estimates (as of August 2008) have Firefox's market share at nearly 20 percent [source: Net Applications].

Happy Blogging

How Firefox Works …(1)

Introduction to How Firefox Works

Firefox is an alternative browser to Internet Explorer and other web browsers.

A Web browser is sort of like the tires on your car. You don't really give them much daily thought, but without them, you're not going anywhere. The second something goes wrong, you definitely notice.

Chances are, you're reading this article on a version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. It's the browser that comes already installed on Windows operating systems; most people use Windows, and most Windows users don't give a second thought to which browser they're using. In fact, many people aren't aware that they have an option at all.

Options are out there, however -- some people call them "alternative browsers," and one of them has been steadily chipping away at Internet Explorer's dominance. It's called Firefox. From its origins as an offshoot of the once popular Netscape browser, Firefox is building a growing legion of dedicated users who spread their enthusiasm by word of mouth (or blog).

For a while, it seemed like Microsoft's Internet Explorer was going to dominate the browser market indefinitely. Its competitors included Netscape Navigator and the AOL Browser -- and it soundly beat both of them. When Firefox debuted, it faced an uphill battle to claim space in the market. But Firefox's popularity has grown since its debut, particularly among Web administrators and developers.

The word is spreading quickly. On June 17, 2008, Firefox held an event called Download Day as it unveiled the final build of Firefox 3. The goal for the event was to encourage people to download the new browser and establish a record for the most downloads of a single application within a 24-hour period. The event was a success -- Firefox 3 is now in the Guinness Book of World Records for the application receiving the most downloads in a single day: 8,002,530 to be exact [source: Spread Firefox].

In this article, we'll find out what makes Firefox different, what it can do and what effect an open-source browser might have on the Internet landscape…

HAPPY BLOGGING

MANDRIVA 2009 RELEASE…

This Is Some Feature New Mandriva Spring 2009

Desktop environments. KDE 4.2.2, GNOME 2.26.1 and LXDE. Social networking websites are websites that allow internet users with the same interests, views, and beliefs to come together online. In a way, a social networking site is similar to a community or neighborhood. Although there is a good chance that you have used a social networking service before, there is a chance that you haven't. If you haven't but you are interested, you will have to find a social networking website to join.
When it comes to finding a social networking website, you will find that you literally have an unlimited number of different options. Social networks have popped up all over the internet. Of course, you can join as many social networking sites as you would like to, but doing so can be tiring and time consuming. Instead of signing up for a large number of social networking sites or the first one that you come across, you are advised to research and examine a particular site. Doing so will enable to find and join the perfect social networking site, at least the one that is perfect for your needs.

As previously mentioned, when searching for a social networking website, you will find that you have a number of different options. One of those options is likely to be FriendFinder. FriendFinder is known as one of the most popular online social networking websites. In a way, they are as just as well known as MySpace or Yahoo! 360. If you are unsure as to whether or not you would like to join FriendFinder, you are encouraged to examine the site. After examining the features, the programs, and the benefits of joining, you may find that FriendFinder is a social networking community that you want to be a part of.

The goal of FriendFinder, as well as many other social networking websites, is to allow you to meet other internet users. With special search features and detailed profile pages, social networking websites allow you to find an individual who shares the same interests, views, or beliefs as yourself. With many network community members posting their pictures, you could also, if you desire, choose a friend based on their physical appearance. Even though it is possible to do, it has led many individuals to misunderstand what FriendFinder is all about. Unfortunately, a large number of individuals believe that it is solely an online dating site.
Of course there are always community members that will meet, date, or even get married. All social networking websites, including FriendFinder, have these types of close relationships. However, FriendFinder is not necessarily classified as a dating website. Although you can choose to date other members if you want, it is not required. In fact, a large number of FriendFinder community members are not looking for a relationship, just an online friendship. This means that you should not feel any pressure when it comes to joining this popular online community.

How to Enjoy Your Laptop Even More …

Laptops are great if you're always out and about or want to save some desk real estate with the tiny foot print a laptop takes up as opposed to a bigger desktop system. There's just something cool about folding up your computer to go outside in the summer breeze to type up your essay or to blog about the events of the day. But there are disadvantages to having a laptop. Battery life is certainly an issue; if you don't have an extra battery or you've no way to charge it back up, you're pretty much out of luck until you find a way. And because of the tiny size of laptop computers, many dishonest people will not think twice about stealing one. So now that we've established the cool factor of laptops, let's go through some tips that'll make your laptop experience even better.
Tip: Prolong the Battery Life
There are certain advantages of having a personal computer at home. One of them is that you can keep them plugged during usage, which means that you do not have to worry about batteries. With laptops, things are exactly the other way around. Battery life is an issue, but we can learn you how to prolong its life, in order to get more from your laptop when you are outside and away from any outlet.
One method you can use to keep your battery from dying too quickly is to dim your screen to its lowest configuration. Your laptop's screen sucks up the most power, so if you don't need a super bright screen, dim it down to conserve battery juice.

Data Savings
Portability is the greatest feature of laptops, but these gadgets are also more fragile than your desk computer at home. A little mistake and your precious laptop crashes on the sidewalk, when you least expect it. Oh, no! What a disaster! Even when nothing seems to have happened on the outside, always check the status of your hard drive, after an episode like this one. While you can buy another hard drive or send the laptop into service, your data, that was stored on that hard drive, is lost forever. Avoid these nuisances by saving it often on USB portable drives or CD-R and DVD.

Guard Your Laptop Always take care when connecting to an open wireless network. Install a robust firewall, like Zone Alarm, and make sure that you set its security settings high to get the best protection. Folder sharing on an open network is just asking for trouble, so make sure you turn this setting and others like it off.
Because of the compact size of laptops, they're really easy to steal, so always know your laptop's whereabouts. Encrypting your laptop's hard drive can give you peace of mind; if your laptop gets stolen, as least the files residing on your hard drive are encrypted and cannot easily be viewed or accessed.

Keep Out From the Heat
An usual shortcoming of laptops is that they tend to heat up during usage. In order to keep all this heat away, you need to protect your lap and your knees. Some shops sell laptop sleeves that can be used to fend off the heat, but any piece of clothing large enough to cover your skin where it comes in contact with the hot laptop will do just fine.
Laptops are simply more convenient than desktop computers and nobody can deny it. PC producers are more and more oriented towards making the old style computer more space saving, but, even with the revolution of LCD screens, you still need a sturdy desk to keep all the components in the same place. As for laptops, with the advice we have given you this far, you will get to enjoy them even more.

How to increase Alexa traffic ranking in webblog ?

Using internet in free time to communicate with other people for maintaining new or existing relationships; or searching for information, news and entertainment tools is the part of life of today’s tech-savvy people. Encouraging others to use Alexa toolbar and explaining it, make others to know what does it require installing Alexa toolbar or extension.

14. We decided to use kde3-5-10 as our default desktop as we could not achieve a similar functionality from kde4. We will however offer kde4 as an alternative desktop environment available from the repository once we stabilize it. PCLinuxOS is an rpm based distribution utilizing apt-get with a Synaptic Software Manager frontend. In addition to the above PCLinuxOS comes with mklivecd GUI, a nice utility to build a custom live CD from your install. Install or remove what you want then remaster your own cd. Great for backups or to give to friends. PCLinuxOS is also known as as rolling release distribution. What that means is you install once and update it when new applications become available from our repository.

Special thanks goes out to gettinther, Sal, Linuxera, Neverstopdreaming, Davecs, gri6507, Stumpy842 and etjr. Also to Enki Consulting for hosting the website and ibilio.org for hosting the software packages.
Also the pclos-gnome team are proud to the announce the 2009.1 release of pclos-gnome.
Featuring: kernel 2.6.26.8.tex3, Gnome 2.24.3, Mozilla Firefox 3.0.7, Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.17, Gnome office apps, Brasero, Gnome Power Manager, Exaile Music Player and many more!
Almost 2.5 gigs of software compressed on a single self bootable livecd that can be installed to your hard drive provided it is compatible with your system and you like the distribution. This translates into a faster internet connection, faster browsing and email, faster downloads, faster online gaming, improved Skype connection.

HOW IT WORKS
SpeedConnect prevents fragmentation in data transfer using the TCP/IP protocols used on the Internet, greatly increasing the connection throughput and the download/upload speeds (Kbps).
Because Windows default network settings have general values and are not optimized for a specific internet connection type, SpeedConnect software calculates, optimize and safely change several network related settings to known optimized values, in a recursive process, until it discovers the best settings for your specific connection. Basically, SpeedConnect applies optimized network settings values which will prevent the data packets fragmentation and will speed up your connection. All this translates into faster web browsing, faster e-mail, faster downloads and improved overall Internet performance.

SPEED OPTIMIZATION
SpeedConnect Internet Accelerator is designed to optimize the network tcp/ip settings and speed up all your internet related activities including browsing, downloading, uploading, streaming, online gaming, sending and receiving email. SpeedConnect Quick Optimizer mode provides the fastest way to speed up your connection. Experienced users get total control in advanced mode, which provides manual access to all settings.

Features:
Optimizes all internet connection types
User friendly
Quick Optimizer option
Advanced Customization
Tool and Wizards
Load/Save Settings
Optimization Report
Connection Analyzer
Benefits:
FASTER internet connection
Browse FASTER
Send and receive e-mail FASTER
Download and upload files FASTER
Play online games FASTER
Improve Skype connection
NO adware, NO hardware installation
NO service subscription, NO monthly fees
NO new hardware installation

Social Marketing - The Proper Approach

Social

marketing has

become a popular and effective means of online advertising today. With the growing number of social media sites on the internet it was only a matter of time before marketers figured out how to make money using them.
The original intent of these web 2.0 spawned sites was a gathering spot where like minded people could can together on a 'social' level. The growth in their popularity led internet marketing enthusiast to this potent pool of prospective customers.
Visiting any of the more popular social media sites like Digg, Facebook, or Twitter one can easily see evidence of creative marketing at work. In fact it has become commonplace to expect to be exposed to varying degrees of internet marketing tactics at such sites.
The difference in HOW site members are exposed to these 'creative marketing' tactics is very noticeable as compared to more 'traditional' online marketing methods. Potential prospects on these sites are visiting for the social aspects the sites were created for. These same 'prospects' can either pay notice to or ignore various promotional efforts they may casually encounter during their visit.

The site member's ability to pick and choose with whom they communicate is what makes this environment so dynamically different. If they encounter any online advertising they may not want exposure to they can block any attempts at contact. Repeated attempts by the same advertiser (viewed as spamming) could bar them from any future attempts at contacting site members.

With that said it now involves putting an interesting twist into the marketing strategy of anyone looking to promote anything at a given social media site. If a sincere interest in a particular site member is not displayed the opportunity to interact with them will likely be denied. Therein lies the twist since marketers primary online intent is usually to promote something and not spend time socializing.

A new word is now introduced into the vocabulary of anyone attempting to make money by marketing their goods at any social media sites: Subtlety! Ouch!!
To successfully incorporate social networking type sites into the marketing strategy of any online business it is important to recognize a certain respect needs to be shown to site members. Their purpose for visiting the site is based upon socializing and not being exposed to sales pitches or marketing hype. As a marketer you need to realize you're ARE NOT in a 'made for sales' environment. Your ability to advertise anything will depend upon you FIRST gaining the attention and acceptance of site members. Without this you'll likely not even be allowed contact.
Social marketing can be a very effective means in which to grow an online business. The key here is to recognize that your primary emphasis has got to be gaining the acceptance and trust of site members. By displaying a sincere interest in discussions and leaving comments you'll enhance your chances of being 'allowed' to get more involved. If your focus is obviously on marketing you will likely be ignored and your efforts will only serve to annoy the members while wasting your own time as well.

Blogging – The New Journal

If emails had replaced letters, SMSs had replaced phone calls, blogging started as a possible replacement to diary writing. In the super fast world we have been living in for the last couple of decades, taking time out to sit back and jot down the events of the day on a piece of paper eventually became cumbersome and finally a redundant process. Why not pinch out some of the time one spends on the computer and the internet? In between office work, all one needed to do was go hammer and tongs at the keyboard and store his or her thoughts as they came. And thus was born web logging or what we simply know today as blogging.

This was in the very late 1990s. But as the new millennium dawned and technology became available to everyone, websites realized the potential of blogging. Free blogging sites came up and suddenly having a personal blog became the thing to do online. Blogs soon became a private community on the web as a blogger’s friends started visiting his blogs and he in returned dropped in at their blogs.
And then as it happens with every new technological innovation, blogging took on its own character. It was no longer limited to personal diaries. Yes the online diary writing continued and is still a popular form of blogging, but blogging became much more than that. For some it became an online marketing tool, to market ideas, to market art, to market culture, to market political campaigns. But for many others it became a medium to share. Share information, share experience, share life.

The website www.ninebean.com is a conglomeration of such selfless bloggers, where it’s not about them but about the millions of people reading those blogs. They do not want to spread their world view but want to make your daily life simpler, do not want to address their own agenda but rather solve your problem, do not want to politicize or preach but help out and lend a hand.
So in the Teens section you will find articles like How to Effectively Combat Peer Pressure and Study Tips for Test Day. If you are looking for an Agony Aunt, she is right there for you at ninebean.com. In the Relationships section, you can learn everything from how to get your ex-boyfriend back in just six steps to how to mend your broken heart in five. Yes, things that you could never ask anybody, they are all a click away at ninebean.com.
From time immemorial, civilizations have grown and prospered through knowledge sharing. Everywhere I go, I find articles and forums devoted to this craze. I also have heard from many home business owners who are trying to figure out what a blog is and how they can use one to their benefit.

The term "blog" is short for

"weblog", which just means an online journal

or "log". You can jot down personal thoughts and notes, post articles you’ve written or keep track of interesting websites you find. The sky is the limit, it seems, when it comes to blogging. A blog is something entirely of your own creation and you can use it to share your thoughts with the world, well….with anyone you can get to read it anyway.

One of the main debates going on about blogs is whether blogging can be done to improve Search Engine rankings for businesses or to create a buzz about business websites. Both of these can be true if the blog is used correctly. Many resources show that once a blog is created, many times it is listed in Search Engines within 48 hours. This was true of the blog I created for Christian Work at Home Moms.

These are many ways to create a blog. The easiest by far is to use one of the free tools available online, such as Google’s Blogger. You can create your blog for free using their online tools and templates(nothing to download). After you have created the blog, you can then publish your blog through them and "Wa-La" – your blog is posted online for the world to see.

Once you’ve created your blog, you will need to decide how you will use it. Will it be a personal blog, full of thoughts and comments for yourself alone or maybe your family? Or will it be a business blog, with articles and tips for potential customers? If you want your blog to be found by others, blogging experts recommend that you begin by setting the title and descriptions for your blog. These are similar to the the title and descriptions you set for your website. Try to make them meaningful because they are what people will see when your blog is returned in a Search Engine. If your description is simply "my blog", you may not draw the attention you’d like.

If you are blogging in the hopes of attracting customers, make sure to use wise use of words and links in your blogs. Try to avoid the "click here" link. Instead, opt for links within descriptive sentences. Add the HTML link within the sentence and attach it to the words that are closely related to the page or site you are linking to. For example, to link to my website I would not use "click here" as my link. I would say, "Please visit Christian Work at Home Moms for home-based work resources."
There are many ways to get your blog noticed outside of optimizing them for Search Engines. For instance, there are entire websites devoted to listing blogs dedicated to any topic that you can think of. One of the best such websites devoted to women-created blogs, is BlogDaisy.com. You can also use free tools such a FeedBurner.com to track the traffic on your blog and to create a dynamic title box that can be used to display your blog headlines on your website or even in your email signature. Each time you update your blog, these headlines are instantly updated.
There are many ways to use a blog for either personal or business use. If used correctly, a blog can be a terrific tool to inform potential customers of your business. Be sure to update your blog at least once a week so that the content remains fresh and you remain in the Search Engines.

Content Is King! SEO and Your Blog

Search engines rank sites based on

relevancy – content is King! The search engines realize that the more relevant their listings are, the more people will like their service and use them. Basic!

Google is a prime example of this. The famous Google Bot which is in charge of "checking" websites and adding them to the Google index is a lot smarter than it used to be. It looks over the content of your entire website, not just a single page. It will then determine what your website is relevant to and make a decision. It will decide whether or not to include your page in the natural listings or not. Upon choosing to add your site, it will then determine what keyword (s) to list it under and where it will be ranked within the results. This is where and why you need to fine tune your website and optimize for the keywords YOU WANT!

Regardless of how "pretty" your website is, content is what the search engine spiders look at. When a spider hits your page it is going to scan the entire website, including the links that you have on your page. It will determine if you meet the minimum content requirement to be listed in their directory. The content on your page needs to have some "BULK" to it . By this we mean that you should write multiple paragraphs on your page using relevant words to what it is that you want to be listed under. The spider can't read your images – but they can read the image file names – why not name your images using some of your relevant keywords?

Keyword Density Having the right keyword density is one aspect of the SEO "game" that you can control. If you want your web page to be listed for the phrase "dog training", you need to make sure that this phrase appears multiple times within the text on your website. A keyword density of between 2% and 5% is a general rule that you can follow. This will make the focus keyword/phrase apparent to the search engine spiders and will get you a better chance of being listed for this keyword.
Multi-Page Sites Having a multi-page site is becoming more and more important to the search engines. Single landing pages with no links to other pages on the same domain are very rarely listed in top positions. Make your page a multi-level site.

All you need to do is create a number of relevant web pages, and link them all together. This isn't as difficult as it sounds. Instead of one page of 2000 words – break it up into 4 pages of 500 words each.
Title: You ALWAYS want to have your focus keyword/phrase in the title of your page. When you do get listed, the search engines use the title tag as the first line of the listing. So make sure your title is catchy and highly relevant to what your focus keyword is.
Incoming links Incoming links to your page do still play a roll in your search listings, but it is nothing like it used to be. It is important that when you do get links, you work on "one-way" links...or pages that only link to your site, not link back. Also, make sure that you aim to get links to your page on relevant websites. A good way to do this is through industry partners, forums, and social bookmarking websites. In addition you want these links to be from high page rank sites.

Focus Keywords: Make sure that your focus keywords do not have millions of previously indexed sites. Your chances will be very low if you are trying to get a top listing for a saturated and highly competitive keyword. Instead, look for targeted keywords with a smaller search competition. If a keyword is being searched 1,000 or even 500 times a month; that's 1000 or 500 visitors that you will have compared to zero if you try to compete against those millions!

4 Steps to Blogging Correctly

Blogging is a great

way to get traffic to your site. Search engines rank blogs high because the blogs are usually updated a lot and people generally love to read blogs. However, there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your blogs. Here are 4 steps to blogging right.

Blog Once a Day for at Least a Week
This is something you should make sure you do when you first start your blog. You want to post a new blog every single day for at least the first seven days. This will let the search engines see that the blog is constantly updated and it will give you a higher search engine ranking.

Anchor Text
Anchoring text is when you put a link with a word or a phrase. Then the word or phrase appears as a hyperlink that can be clicked on by the reader. The reader will then be brought to wherever the link leads.
You should always take a keyword or phrase and sprinkle it in your blog. Then anchor those words or phrases back to your site. This will help get you more direct traffic from your blog and it will also help the linked site rank well with the search engines for the keywords or phrases you’ve anchored.

Bookmark
There are many social bookmarking sites on the Internet that you should bookmark your site on. Every time you write a new post, make sure you bookmark it. This will give you more backlinks to your blog (which will help with the search engine ranking) and it will also get you some traffic directly from the bookmarking sites.
Some of the most popular bookmarking sites include Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com, and Reddit.com.

Include Call to Action
This seems like a no-brainer but more than a few people forget to do this on their blogs. Include a call to action on the blog itself, in the side bar. If the individual blog post lends itself to it, also include a call to action right in the blog post.
If you don’t ask someone to go to your site then no one is going to go there. So make sure you always include a call to action.
4 steps to blogging right are to blog once a day for at least a week, anchor text in your blog, bookmark every new blog post, and include a call to action on your blog and with individual blog posts. If you do these 4 things then you will be successful with getting traffic to your main site from your blogging site.

7 Basic Blogging Principles

    Many people have leverage on

the idea of making money with blog and build their fortune online. Since you are interested to make money with blog, you need to give attention to this article. These basic blogging principles will help you to build your blogging success.

1. Be personal
You must let your readers feel like you are talking to them. And no matter how complicated the subject is, you need to be as layman as possible. You are taking away the fun of reading a blog when your readers need to constantly check the dictionary to know what you are talking about.

2. People first
Successful bloggers know that they need to put the readers as priority instead of search engine. You need to talk about topics that your readers are interested in and related to them. The more you link topics to them, the more likely your readers will come back for more information. After all, it is your readers who help you to make money with blog and not the search engine.

3. Passion
Let's think about this, what makes you so excited that you can't stop sharing with others? Your favorite topic, of course. A lot of bloggers forget the basic of blogging is to blog about something you are really interested in. They always go for the profitable topic even when they know nothing about it.
You will have more difficulty blogging when you are going for the money. Rich bloggers understand that as long as you share your passion, the money will follow.

4. Posting frequency
Rich bloggers also understand that to make money with blog, you need to post frequently. Some bloggers though that a 2000 words blog post is going to impress the readers. However, a person's concentration is very short span.
You are actually stressing your readers with a long post. When you are having too many things to say, you can break it down to a few parts and make it a few days posting. In that way, you get your readers to come back for more.

5. Schedule your post
Another blogging basic is that you need to schedule your blog post. A schedule will push you to write something. Don't misunderstand that a schedule is to push you to blog because what you are sharing is something you are passionate about.

6. Learn more
Rich bloggers will continue to learn about how to be more effective in their posting. People are developing new techniques to blog everyday and the moment you stop learning, you stop to make money with blog.

7. Just blog
It is normal that there are no readers visit your blog when you start blogging. Just relax and continue to blog frequently. Your focus is to share your passion and you will build a healthy stream of readers very soon.

President Obama makes Smartphone Genius

A texting president puts a twist on

things. Not sure why the most powerful

man in the free world wouldn’t be expected to understand a QWERTY keyboard, but it’s definitely a change. However, when in Washington there are many considerations. Imagining the President mistakenly hitting the "send" button on a classified message is an ulcer-creating scenario for white house counsel. The answer? Smartphone’s just got genius.

Internet rumors and tech bloggers report President Obama has been given an ultra-encrypted, NSA-approved Smartphone with elegant circuitry. Most credible reports name the General Dynamics Sectéra Edge as the modified unit now in use by the 44th President. General Dynamics, a defense contractor not known for cellular phones, has reportedly created an elite unit worthy of the executive branch. How did they do it?

The answer to this question is a mix of facts and innuendo. According to General Dynamics’ Michael Guzelian, the Sectéra was originally designed for NSA/military use. It is not available for consumer purchase. The cost? $3,350. Its abilities are extreme, protecting both voice and data communications. With one touch of a button, the unit switches from "unclassified" to "top-secret" transmission.
The efficiency with which this unit was ready for President Obama has many questioning whether General Dynamics designed this much earlier in the presidential campaign, much like the presumptuous NBA Championship hats that are printed at half-time. While neither General Dynamics or the white house will confirm the exact unit being used, the very existence of such sophisticated features elevates private industry.

Government and private industry have historically shared technologies. General Dynamics reportedly beta tested their unit for 15 months. They would have undoubtedly used complex testing tools like those supplied by X-TEL Communications, a premier wireless testing and optimization corporation. X-TEL, through its subsidiary, recently released a security application called JTrek available to consumers. JTrek has been praised for its crime deterring abilities as it sends secure data, voice, and streaming video from the mobile user to an emergency contact list including friends, family and law enforcement during an emergency.

While President Obama will have personal protection for many years, his very use of a PDA will exponentially increase design and security for the consumer. Imagine a Smartphone with nerve sensors able to call help when its user is in danger. Could the next generation of units pro-actively communicate on behalf of its owner? This may not be far away.
Most agree, Sectéra Edge is the first of a new generation of secure, encrypted communication devices, with many more security features yet to be unveiled. Smartphone’s may have just become genius.

5 Tips to Improve Your Business Blog

Do you have a business blog that seems to absorb all your efforts and still doesn't perform up to your expectations? Many folks start a blog with the desire to make money online but often are guilty of misdirecting their efforts leading to frustration and a lack of success.
If this sounds like you let's consider 5 points you may need to re-focus on to improve your results.

• Learn to give your readers with what it is they want or need. Many bloggers focus primarily making money and neglect the readers. Remember without readers THERE IS NO BLOG. Listen to their comments; in fact encourage them to leave comments. By responding and acting upon their concerns or needs you are creating an environment 'tailor made' for them. It was their input that guided the creation of this environment to begin with

• If you don't have anything to say in a post then don't post. Feeling compelled to post every day or even multiple times daily could lessen the quality of your content. Emphasize QUALITY over QUANTITY when posting to your blog. If you post good quality content your readers will be willing to wait a day for it as oppose to reading shallow and pointless ramblings. If this occurs too often you can kiss your readers good-bye and say hello to a decrease in your blog traffic.

• Be careful to not become 'anchored' to your blogging duties. A blog is born out of the passion the blogger has for the blogging material itself. By investing an over abundance of time to your blog you run the risk of burning out. Push back from time to time to re-energize. Fresh, invigorating, and insightful blog posts are what the readers want and it would be difficult to deliver this if you're overworked.
Business blogs are a fine balance between a blogger passionate about the topics they post on and a desire to make money online. It is important to remember you always need to put your reader's FIRST. Introducing any aspect of your marketing strategy should be secondary to this.

• Conduct a blog search for sites that offer content related to yours. By visiting these sites you can pick up new ideas not only for your content but also for the blog layout itself. Also don't be afraid to participate at these blogs by leaving a comment when appropriate. Leaving a comment that is useful, humorous, or insightful will catch the eyes of other participants. With a link back to your site in your signature file you can usually expect an increase in your blog traffic. Once again however your comments should appropriate!

• In addition to a blog search find forums and other online communities that contain niches within related to your blogging theme. There is nothing more frustrating! The best way to prevent this from happening in the future is to make sure you are choosing the right affiliate products from the start.

It can feel like you need to be psychic to figure this out. Luckily, there are many tools at your disposal -- no special powers needed! These tools are also free, and can help you immensely when it comes to choosing profitable affiliate products.

The first thing you need to do is some market research. Search around on the Internet to find where people in your niche hang out. The chances are good that you'll find a forum or message board, You can read through these posts to see what kind of product these people would be most interested in.

You see, some markets are better suited to digital products. Other markets are much more attuned with physical products. This is very important for you to know so you always choose the right kind of product.

You can take this a step further by "spying" on your competition. If there is a major blog in your niche you should go look through it. Figure out what they are promoting and how they are doing it. You can't be sure, but the chances are good that if they are established and highly ranked they have done a lot of market research themselves. You can simply use this data to help you figure out what the best fit for your site will be. Remember, a product that is not targeted will make far less sales (if any) than one that is targeted.

After you've decided exactly what kind of affiliate product to promote you can start to look into the specific product or affiliate network. Many of the networks will give you some kind of data that you can use to figure out if it's an offer that sells (look at present and historical data). It is important to remember there are many variables that go into these numbers, so use them as a guideline.

Once you think you've chosen a good product you should look at their sales page or website.

The site should:

Have well-written copy

Have symbols of trust (verification signs, trusted company logos, etc.)

Include a Phone number (increases trust)

Have few distractions (increases conversions)

The site you link to can truly either make or break you! Even if you've done a good job of pre-selling the product (described below), the customer will ultimately make her decision based on the sales page and whether or not she things it's a good offer.

Last but not least, you need to do a good job of pre-selling the product. That means letting your visitors know that this is a great product for them by either showcasing banners on your site, writing a review about it, etc. In order to learn how to write a good presell, you should consider learning the basics of good copywriting.

When you put all these pieces together you'll have a much easier time making great affiliate sales on your blog!

How To Choose The Best Blogging Platform For Your Site

Choosing the right blogging platform is a very important first step. You can liken it to needing to find the perfect car. Sure, they will all get you from point A to point B, but some do it better than others. There are some that are faster, more effective, and more reliable.

The first kinds of blogging platforms are the free versions of popular software. Blogger.com is the one that is owned by Google and it's very easy to use and completely free. The only issue is that you don't really own your blog as it is hosted by Blogger. While the software is great, you're pretty much out of luck if they decide to pull the plug on you.

The other major, free blogging software is Wordpress.com (not to be confused with Wordpress.org, which is self-hosted). This is also very easy to use, and it is hosted by Wordpress. Be extremely careful if you're going to do a lot of affiliate marketing on your blog. Wordpress.com has been known to shut sites down without warning!

As you can probably tell, it is generally a better idea to self-host your blog so you have total control over it. As you start getting good traffic you'll definitely want to ensure that there is nothing anyone can do to take your blog away. Setting up a free hosted blog is like putting all your eggs in one basket, and that's never a smart idea. Of course that doesn't mean you can't set one up that is secondary and meant to help you get backlinks.

Hosted blogs are much better for most people. One of the oldies but goodies is the Moveable Type software. You do have to pay for this, but many people think it's worth it. It's a very powerful way to blog.

Most bloggers, however, seem to prefer Wordpress.org blogs. You host these on your own server, so you have total control! It's similar to Moveable Type in that it's easy to use, but the differences in the support and plugins available is incredible.

There is a huge community set up based around Wordpress. You can find plugins to help you with SEO, to run a membership site, to backup for you, to sell eBay items, and a lot more! There are also an incredible number of themes you can choose from to make the blog completely your own.

So, which one should you choose? Again, most Internet marketers tend to choose Wordpress. You might want to as well since it is phenomenal software and offers everything you need. Better yet, it's so easy to use that you can have a blog up and running in no time.

It is also important to note that most tutorials written in the IM arena are focused on Wordpress. It seems to be the gold standard for bloggers, and you might want to select it if only to avoid the hassle of trying to learn another system that not many people use.

Using Free Blog Themes To Spice Up Your Blog Design

It used to be that if you wanted a professional looking site you had to pay big bucks to get a designer to do it. These days all you need to do is a quick Wordpress installation and you're well on your way to a site that looks like it took thousands of dollars to design. Finding free themes is the fastest way to give your blog the makeover it deserves.

You might be wondering why people would give away themes for free in the first place. The main reason is because they often include a link to their website in the footer of the theme. This is great for them because they get tons of relevant links to their site from people who install their blogging theme. You can benefit from this because the link is hardly noticeable, and you get the the design for free!

There are many different free blog themes out there so it can be hard to decide which one to go with. The first thing you should do is a search in Google for "your niche WP theme". If there is a theme out there that is a match you'll likely run across it that way.

If you're very stuck and just can't find a good theme you can search through the database they have at Wordpress.org. That site allows you to sort by color, style, and many other criteria as well.

Hopefully you will have found a great theme that you can put to use right away. If you can't seem to find that one perfect one -- don't get too hung up! It's very easy to change the theme down the road. All you need to do is upload the theme folder that you download from the Internet to the wp-content area under themes. Then, you'll activate the theme in your wp-admin area, and you're done designing!

While you can certainly choose any theme you prefer, there are some things you should keep in mind when choosing your theme. The first is to make sure your background is white. There are successful sites out there that have a dark background, but studies have shown that people can read darker colors on top of white better than they can the other way around. Always keep your reader at the top of your mind.

You also need to carefully consider how many sidebars you're going to choose. This is very important as some sidebars will allow for better ad positioning than others. Test different ones and see what you like!

If you can't find anything you like, browse through other blogs. You're bound to see something that interests you. When you choose one you can scroll to the very bottom to see which theme they are using. The free themes usually have the name present. You can follow the link through to download it yourself and you're done!

Using free blog themes is a great, instant, way to make sure your blog has a professional design your visitors will love. Get inspired today!

How To Get More People Commenting On Your Blog

Getting people to comment on your blog is often one of the most challenging parts of being a blogger. Even if you're seeing a lot of great traffic, that doesn't mean that people are going to take time out of their day to comment. You need to have a few tricks up your sleeve to make it happen; but when you do it will be well worth it because the comments will start pouring in almost immediately!

There are only a few reasons people will stop to comment on blogs:

1. They disagree with what you had to say
2. They get something out of it intrinsically
3. They get something out of it externally

The first one is really referring to those "linkbait" posts. Writing these is a great way to get people to comment on your blog. These are basically content pieces that stir something up in people that compels them to argue, agree, or just share their thoughts. These are often controversial postings that are written either because you feel strongly about something or you are hoping to generate some great discussion amongst the members in your niche. Either way, these post can be gold when used in the right way. They attract people to your blog like a magnet.

The second reason people comment is because they get something out of it intrinsically. This basically means they just feel good by posting (or need to get something off their chest), or want to

congratulate you for a job well done. That is a huge reason why having great content needs to be such a large focus of yours.

The third reason people comment on blogs is because they get something out of it externally. That means that they get some kind of prize or reward for their comments. For example, you might post that the first person who can answer X question will win a prize. Or, you might ask them for their thoughts on something and you'll pick the best one to give the prize to. No matter how you do it, these eternal rewards are a no-fail way of getting people to comment on your blog.

There is just something about getting things for free that people can't seem to get enough of! You should always make your prize good so that people will want it, but you'll find folks going crazy over the simplest prizes around. You could run one of these every month, or even every week. If you do them at random times you'll have people stopping by all the time to see when your next giveaway will be. This creates a great community full of people who are eager for your next post --- and soon enough it won't be just because they might win something!

As you can see, it's easy to get people to comment on your blog if you understand the reasons why people comment in the first place. It's all about keeping those future commentators in your mind as you plan your content.

How To Write Compelling Blog Posts That Get Attention

Writing compelling blog posts is one of the most important aspects of blogging -- if not THE most important. It doesn't matter how well you market and drive traffic, if the content stinks it's going to get you nowhere. The good news is that you can learn how to write compelling blog posts that will really draw the attention of your target audience.

There are a few different kinds of posts you might want to create. You can write a pure content post that is well-written and contains incredibly helpful information. Another option is to look at the news results for your niche in Google news. Capitalize on the trends by posting high quality opinion pieces on what's being reported. Yet another option is to write product reviews to help people make buying decisions.

These all have a place on your blog, and all three types are things that visitors look for. It's important to know the differences between them, but it's also important to understand how they are all the same. It comes down to the A.I.D.A formula.

Attention

The first thing you need to pay attention to in your blog posts is how the reader's attention will be captured right off the bat. You can do this with a great headline and a great first few sentences that really suck the reader in.

Interest

You really only have 10 seconds to keep someone's attention going as they read through your post. Remember, people are very busy these days and they've got a million other blogs to read. Keep your article interesting and focused on the aim of the post (informational, newsworthy, review, etc.). Make sure your writing isn't dry!

Desire

Now, this section changes depending on your goal. If you are writing a review article as an affiliate you're going to want to create a very strong desire for the product or service. If you're writing an article that is purely informational you can still use this principle, just in a different way. You still want to stir people's emotions and get them to think.

Action

This last piece is very important. There is always something you want people to do on your blog. You either want them to buy something, comment, or sign up for your list. You don't want them to just go away! Make sure you include a call to action that is related to the post you've created. This fits best when you're selling a product or writing a review, but it certainly works with any post you make on your blog. A huge part of being a successful blogger is getting people "stick around" and take some kind of action.

There are many different ways to write compelling blog posts, but the AIDA principle is something they all have in common. People move quickly on the web, so you need to write something that will call out to them and possibly stir their emotions.

How To Choose A Niche Topic To Blog About

After you've made the decision to become a blogger, you need to figure out what your blog is going to be about! It can seem like an impossible choice since there are so many topics out there. Luckily, there are some easy ways you can narrow the choice down. It's important to like the niche and know that it's possible to earn a good income from it.

Step One: Brainstorm Ideas

The great thing about niche blogging is that there is no shortage of topics you can blog about. There are billions of people in the world and they all have varied interests, hobbies, and things they need or want to spend their money on. You're simply going to choose one of the many options.

First you've got to get some ideas! Don't worry -- you don't have to think of them all on your own. You can browse through magazine stands, look through online forum sites, browse the categories at sites like Amazon, etc.

For now, write down anything that sounds like a great blogging niche. There will be time to perfect this choice later. Keep the idea that you want to be able to have plenty to write about and that it needs to be easily monetized in the back of your mind.

Step Two: Narrow it Down and Do Some Research

There are bound to be some potential niche topics that you like more than other ones. Choose the three you think have the most potential.

Now, you're going to do some searches in Google to see if there are already blogs and sites set up in each niche. Also, pay close attention to the ads that appear on the right hand side of the search results in Google. If that niche's keywords are showing a lot of ads, the chances are that it's profitable. You just need to find a sub-niche that you can sneak yourself into easily to get noticed by the market right away.

Step Three: Choose Your Niche!

The final thing you need to do as part of choosing your niche is narrow things down a little bit. As you can imagine, something like "parenting" is a huge niche. It will be awfully hard to rank for such a general niche. One good idea is to choose a smaller subset of that niche. You might do first time mothers. You could even break it down even more into something like "first time Christian mothers." You just need to be sure it will a topic you're interested in blogging about and that you can easily monetize. Browse through sites like Clickbank.com, CJ.com, and others to make sure there are monetization options.

If you follow the important principles that are found within these steps it will be easier than ever for you to choose a niche to blog about. Don't get too caught up in the details and try to perfect the decision, however, because then you'll never get started. There are literally thousands (if not millions) of great niches out there that you can earn a good income from. These steps will help get you there.

5 Ways To Cash In With Your Blog

Blogging is all the rage these days for many different reasons. For one thing, it's a lot of fun to be able to express your opinions about something or share information with people all over the world. You also have to remember that the people who visit your blog are often ready and willing to spend money! Use these 5 ways to cash in with your blog to add some padding to your wallet.

Cash Tip #1: Put Your Ads Where People Can See Them

Bloggers often make the mistake of slipping a tiny affiliate link in somewhere on the blog. These will rarely get found and clicked on! Now, you don't want to be annoying with your ads, but if you have found something that is relevant there is no reason not to display it proudly so your visitors see it and click on it. It's hard to make money if no one knows you are selling something.

Cash Tip #2: Build a List

It's a great thing to have visitors to your blog, but it's even better to keep them coming back for more. You should focus on building a list of people who are interested in your niche topic. That way you can tell them when you create new blog posts, as well as let them know about special offers you think would be of interest.

Cash Tip #3: Sell Advertising

There are many people out there who are pushing the same affiliate products and promotions. The returns can often be low as well, depending on which niche you're in and what products you're affiliated with. Once you get to a relatively high level of traffic it's a great idea to sell advertising spots. Companies are ready and willing to spend money on this form of advertisement, and you can often make more with these direct deals than you can by going through an affiliate organization that takes a cut.

Cash Tip #4: Create a Product

After you've had your blog running for a while you'll hopefully have developed a loyal following. People see you as an expert in your niche and they want to hear more of what you have to say. A great way to cash in on this is to create your own ebook, videos, audio, or a combination. This is easier to do than you think, and you can have a great, passive income once the product creation phase is over.

Cash Tip #5: Split Test

You might have heard about split testing as a great way to figure out the best format for sales letters, but did you know that you could split test ads on your blogs? There are plugins and software packages out there that can present one ad to one group and another ad to another group. That way you can cash in even better by knowing exactly what it is that your target audience responds to best.

There you have it! These are five tips you can put to use today to start seeing a return in profits on your blog tomorrow. There is nothing better than knowing that people out there are not only reading your content, but adding to your income as well.
