Not everyone out there with a DSLR is a good photographer. It's true. No really. There are endless discussions about it all over the Internet. Don't believe me? Do an image search of, well, just about anything and you'll see. That's okay though because we're all learning how to hone our craft, right?

So how do you spot the good photographers from the bad photographers?

And more importantly, how do you avoid looking like a bad photographer?

@MinnesotaDogGuy "Too many to mention- #1 is the "anything goes" mentality-- more crap produced in the last 15 years than the previous100 years" Well, that sounds like a solid number 1 to me. And it's probably true. Maybe it's because digital photography makes it so easy to capture tons of pics but it's like nobody slows down anymore. Take your camera off burst mode, look a the scene, think about it, pause, think about it some more, then take a couple of shots and move on. Sure, there are times when you've got to take a ton of pics, but come on! I used to shoot weddings with film and when I hear of photographers who do it now and pop out thousands of photos on one wedding it kinda blows my mind. Too much spray and pray and you're giving yourself away.

@moogyboobles "one who is all bitchy to newbies! If they are good then why should they worry about competition and put others down?" This one was hands down my favorite. We all started from somewhere and if you're not contributing anything positive to the conversation then you're acting like a bad photographer! Helping newer photographers out instead of putting them down would do wonders for your Karma and build your network as well.

@sztyuiphoto "Using pop-up flash with telephoto lens in camera green mode:) And hold the camera in a very wrong unimaginable way:D" Sure, cameras are really great at doing most of the "work" for you these days, but really? The balance of technical know-how and artistic vision is what makes a good photographer. Besides, if you haven't learned how to hold your camera properly yet...

@kuyman "Polarizer on indoors / shoots a whole roll with lens cap on (RF only, of course)." Yeah, if you're going to use a polarizer you should probably know what it's actually used for. Now, I do have to admit, I've taken a random shot here or there with the lens cap on but a whole roll?

@rpwpb "Cutting off feet in a family snapshot." We're photographers not surgeons. 'Nuff said.

@Ashtons "the same person in many of their portfolio shots" Yep, that's a sure sign you really haven't done that many shoots. Go get some more clients and then update your portfolio.

@auryaun "example: only shoots "polaroids". Naughty photographer!" Wha? You mean I shouldn't be doing that anymore?

@CLS_photo "someone who doesn't know what apeture is or what is does let alone how to change it." This goes along with that whole "P does not stand for Professional" argument and could also get classified with @isbalcio "shoots in auto mode". I got tons of those types of responses.

@ChokingDrama "When most or all pictures have signs of camera shake." This basically means you don't understand shutter speed or perhaps it's relation to focal length. Either way...

@mmurrayphoto "one who says they'll just "fix it" in lightroom/photoshop later after a bad exposure." and then added "anyone who uses "Photoshop" as a verb. #photoshopisnotaverb" Yep...Photoshop...let the arguments begin!

@krowland3 "Focused more on gear than quality of images." I have nothing to add here. Nailed it!

Yeah, I know, we missed something or you completely disagree with one of the signs. Well, that's what the comments section is for. And go!

A Simple Credit.

When using someone else work, giving credit is always a good gratitude.

Here is an classic example where someone else work was used without giving credit.

Here is the picture on homepage:

I thought Original Photographer name would be mentioned in the article but its not there either.

The only reason such mistakable event happens is because here people won't honor "law" and they have forgotten the meaning of "privacy" and I highly doubt they even heard about "creative commons". They have forgotten the purity of Arts.

Sadly the example that I have given is of those who want to scrutinize and pin point every single ricochet.

Whenever you use someone else picture, do ask permission and if its free on the internet still do mention and credit the artist. It not that difficult, just two extra words below picture. Artist have put some hours creating and putting pictures online for everyone to see and enjoy so do remember his hardwork.

The genesis of case, propositions, arguments,.., augmented from the complex dilemma which led us to not heed the reality rather sunk in the deep vortex of personal self domination and abomination of endless cognitive skill of the self "Me".

What is this beef? Why we argue? Why he knows more than me and why I less? Why he has a counter-argument and I have counter-counter-argument? Why we even want to counter-argument? Is there a possibility that he knows more? Is there a possibility that even I know more? Still why we need to linger in an untangled discussion until it's unrecoverable? Why can't I say, you listen and bye! or vice-versa?

We all live in the same world with same nature, mountains, rivers, sky, wildlife, weather, etc. Still we possesses different opinions on the same things which are same for everyone.

Sometimes listening is better than talking and great wisdom is to listen then talk so when you talk, you already knew what everyone already said and everyone knows that what they already said and they got nothing new to say so when you say, they have to listen. Note that only wise can listen and wise don't say gibberish just for the sake_

Things are not as simple as they seem. Even simple things are extremely complicated in reality. You should always put time and different thought processes in the decision. Reality is in 3-dimension and you never know what plane your perspective is parallel to. The repercussion of hastiness might reverberate for long time. Think smartly, think more then twice. Peace!

What Happened at Wimbledon.

Day of Semi-Finals, day of excitement and fun. This was an entertaining and interesting mix that happened in winbledom at AELTC (the venue).

Novak Djokovic Vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga:

Despite being first semi, this was match of the day by some miles. Djokovic the current World # 1 (was # 2 at that point), the man in supreme form was the man that everyone was waiting to see and Tsonga who defeated All time greatest Federer with two sets down in quater finals; this was man of excitement, unpredictability, fun to watch and on fire.

Two great players were about to unleash their epic form in an epic match.

Despite two set down, Tsonga played extremely good and showed some one of the best shots of the tournament. He played some shots over the top and with that it was again Tsonga the man with all Aces. Saving triple break points against Novak! now thats some serve.

Tsonga despite playing good, it was Djokovic who was above fire. Starting slow he finally grasped his class and did he picked the game; it was not challenge-able. Novak, one the greatest mover on the court did showed his moves with lightning strides, blistering forhand and some streching.

No matter what Tsonga do, Djokovic was there to return. After some time, Tsonga was out of ideas, I was out of ideas even commentators were clueless what Tsonga should do. Now that some class when every is dumbfounded by you performance. Djokovic was playing like road runner that day; where ever Tsonga placed the ball, there was one Djokovic to return the favor. Novak was just meticulously fast.

"Some say he can play his own serve."

SHOT OF THE DAY: There were a handful of contenders from the Djokovic-Tsonga mini-epic, but the pick has to be the rally that left both men flat on their fronts after a seemingly impossible sequence of acrobatic volleys at the net. And then there was Tsonga's remarkable recovery to volley away a Nole drop that clipped the net, and then there was Djokovic's flying backhand when all seemed lost, and then... you get the picture...

Seem obvious victory and stamping a place in finals, Tsonga wouldn't give up and did he raised his game in the third set. It was just sheer pleasure that everyone had paid for. It was worth every penny and more. Nice display of acrobatics, some rallies were just too good to be left alone. Flying and diving Tsonga, what a pleasure to watch him play an incredible game.

All in all, Djokovic was too good for him to beat that day but I have no regrats. What everyone witness that day was pure class.

Nadal Vs Murry:

This was the match for all home fans. Murry a good player and in form was suppose to be the underdog. He showed his class in the first set and won it. It was that moment which everyone waited for; 75 years without even a winbledon finalist. Just after First set Murry lost it all. Somehow he was lacking inspiration. Unlike Tsonga, Murry didn't played a displayed game. His game was sloppy, unaccounted unforced errors, double fault, and simple forhand misses. It has to be uncanny playing that level of game against the great Rafa Nadal. Playing against Rafa, even too good is bad. You want to beat Rafa, only way to do it to play beyond infinity.

There was nothing exciting in the match except Nadal Melting Murry like some cheese. I feel bad for fans who had to endure and dwell on a bleak hope for comeback for 4 long sets.

Womens's Finals:

What I have to say about this? It was just ridiculous, every year a new champion! World Number one's don't want to win slams, defending champs don't want to defend. All there is left in female singles is some grunting women who are no where near any class. They have a best of three so why they need so much energy? Men's single is best of five and I never ever heard Federer grunting and they play for 3+ hrs in some matches and 4+ hrs in finals. Maria lost in two sets and badly; It was just pure disoppoitment. Women's single is just a random game. Bookies stay away unless you want to see some athletic good, nah, sometimes, looking chicks; even real chicks sound better than them :|.

This was really a difficult task. Lightning is super super fast so had to use ton of techniques, experience, patience, perseverance and Luck. Lightning can fall anywhere in the sky so first had to read its pattern, which is random. I was also kinda scare standing in the open with my brain recalling "Lightning can Hit a human, especially when he has a camera, which has metal parts in it". Worst, I did saw Lightning Hitting exactly same spot twice :S. Never the less, hope all of you enjoyed that moment.

All editing and management was done in Adobe Bridge CS5 and Adobe Camera Raw 6.0.
