This is my third time capturing this family…aren’t they adorable.  I love seeing the kids grow up and change so much…last time I saw Bethany she was a few days old.

Our weekend was full of hanging out and not doing too much, I think the kids got out of their jammies around 1pm.  It was a gorgeous day though, so I figured we should at least get outside. Right behind our house is the cemetery.  It is kinda funny to think that our kids play regularly in the cemetery. We walk the dog there everyday, we play hide and go seek, flashlight tag, you name it we do it there.  If I was their age and my parents said we are going to hang out in the grave yard it would have totally freaked me out, there is no way.  It doesn’t even register with them.

Funny story though.  We had Lauren’s bestie’s sister come and babysit one night.  We had left the house and I get a phone call from her about an hour later.  She tells me, “Hudson has left the house and has run away!”  Oh no!  I am not worried as I know he won’t go too far and will be back shortly.  Poor babysitter though I can tell she is very upset, I feel completely horrible for her.  I tell her not to worry, he will be back shortly he probably has just ran into the cemetery and will come right back.  All I hear is “Oh my gosh, he is in the grave yard!” from the sound of her reaction she wasn’t hopping at the chance to go look for him!  I don’t blame her either nor would I at her age.

Just the other day we were driving home and you could tell that a funeral was happening from the cars lining the street turning it to single lane.  Lauren says, “Mom I am just saying…that if someone died in our family we would be good cause we don’t have to park, we can walk to the funeral…I am just saying!”  Hudson quickly replies, “That is mean Lauren, we don’t want anyone in our family to die!”  But she is right it would definitely be convenient.

Anyways… I really am just typing these little stories for my benefit as I forget these precious things quickly and love that I can look back and reread over time.

So what do you get when you spend a week away with 40 of the best photographer’s from around the world…in a word…an experience of a lifetime…okay that’s maybe more than one word, but a truly a great time!  I am so grateful that I get to be apart of this amazing group of people.  I feel that we have started something that will last for years and years to come, next reunion already on the books! Okay you know what else you get?  Some cool photos of you!  Yeah me…like many who can relate, I do not like having my picture taken.  I avoid it at all costs, but I sucked it up and was so glad I did. I love them!  Special thank you to my friends Errin and Rebecca for hooking a girl up!

This summer we were at the Moss Street market and came across the cutest little booth where they made hand made swords, daggers and bow and arrows.  Lauren was smitten, that afternoon she shot over 1000 arrows.  By the end of the day she had blisters on her hands and had lost 2 of her arrows.  JP had to take up arrow making promptly.  She loved is so much I put her in Archery this fall.  The other night the rain was pouring down.  Lauren was already in her jammies…I told her to go get changed we are going outside for some photos.  She looked at me like I was crazy…and said you are going owe me a hot chocolate after this!

She was such a trooper, did I mention it was pouring rain and she wasn’t wearing a jacket and it was way past her bedtime.  This was my favourite shot from the set.

Here is one of my favourite 6 month’s old little boy.  I am so in love with him!  He is the sweetest, squishiest, most adorable little boy.  Every-time I get to visit him, no one else is able to hold him, not even his mommy (sorry Sara).  I just wish I got to snuggle with him everyday.  I am lucky though that my brother and Sara send me regular iPhone videos and pictures so I can get my daily fix.

We had a last minute impromptu photo shoot while I was up for a quick visit.  Wyatt was such a champ through all of it, not even a cry.   K … I can’t stand all this adorableness.

Being a girl I can attest the fact that when JP proposed to me and if he had the foresight to hire a professional photographer to capture those amazing tender moments that happen just before, during and after it would have been an amazing…enough to make me swoon for sure not that the ring didn’t do that all on it’s own.

I kinda blew it when JP proposed to me though (poor guy), it definitely did not go the way he planned anyways…(a little foreshadowing in our life together)

So we had been dating for 2 and a bit years, we were living in the Okanagan, JP went home to Edmonton to visit his parents.  He arrived back around late afternoon; I was super comfy hanging out watching a movie.  He comes in, I am happy to see him xoxo, and then I proceeded to snuggle back in to watch the rest of my movie.  JP says, “Let’s go for a walk, we will go down to the beach!” I am like, “I really don’t want to go for a walk, I am totally comfy right here.”  He persists, and I finally cave.  He is acting really strange, not his usual self.  We drive down to the beach and park across the street.  As we are just getting to the beach, I know something is up.  I ask him what’s going on…I decide to be a brat and start patting him down.  He freaks and stops and turns towards me, gets down on one knee and pops the big ole question.  I couldn’t believe it, I was totally kidding when I went to pat him down.  I was completely not expecting this….proposal from my one true love…eek!  Looking back I would have loved to see the images, the look on his face as I attacked him to find out what he was hiding, the laughing, the crying, and the hugging.  This truly would have been amazing.

So I am now in the position to do this for someone else.  So spread the word, tell your friends, have them tell theirs…I know someone out there would truly love this gift!

This groupon is valid for a custom photography experience valued at over $250.  Firstly, we get together for a pre consultation to discuss and plan your session.  From this appointment we book your 30 min predetermined location shoot and then post in house purchasing session.  You also receive a $100 print credit to apply towards all the goodies available like prints, products and packages.

Some examples of the pre determined locations are:  Beacon Hill Park, Government House, Beaver Lake Park, Island View Beach.

How much do most people spend beyond the $100 credit?

Very good question!  This all depends.  Some people value photography more than others.  Our clients generally value it and want beautiful images on their walls, keepsake albums to tell their sorry,  gifts for friends and family and realize that it is an investment.  But an investment that truly lasts forever.   If you are just looking to get a few prints, this groupon may not be the best option for you.  Typically people invest from $600 to $1500 on their portraits.

Here off some examples of the endless options we can design together.  The cool thing is you can send me an image of the wall you wish to decorate and I can show you to scale what your images will look like in your home.

The purpose of the Groupon is to invite new people to give us a try and find out what we are all about. Therefore this Groupon is for new clients only.

How do I book my session?  

The first step is to register and select the best time for your pre consultation, to do so Please email poppyphotos@gmail.com and we will select a time that works well for your schedule.  At this appointment we will meet in house to discuss and plan our session together.  We will discuss wardrobe options, what your vision is, and what you are thinking, I will also answer any of your questions and prepare you for our photo shoot.  If you have no ideas at this point that is okay too, cause I am here to walk you through it and help you have a fantastic experience.  At this session we will also book the photo shoot and follow up with an in house purchasing appointment .  Right now you can book your consultation up to 30 days in advance!

How many images can we expect to see?

On average you will be presented with 25 – 30 images.

Can I have the photo session happen at a location of my choice?

Unfortunately in order for us to offer such an amazing price we have to limit the offer to certain locations and times, this streamlines the process, helping us get your images to view back as quickly as possible.  If this is something that is important to you please email to schedule one of our regular sessions and we can accommodate this request then.

When will my images be ready?  How do I order?

Your images will be ready in approx 2-3 weeks after your session.  We will schedule an in house purchasing appointment to make your portrait selections.  At this appointment you will make your selections and use your $100 credit.  The best part of this appointment is that we  have access to amazing software that can take an image of a room in your home and we can create your gallery wall to scale right there.  I can also help you with frame selections for your prints and all of this is easily down in an hours time.  Once your order is finalized and  placed; you can expect to see your beautiful prints and products in approximately 3-4 weeks time.
