LMFAO Party Rock remixes and mashups

Here in Newcastle Upon Tyne, there’s a company that offers party cruises on their boats for the various throngs of people that come to the city every week for its night-life culture. This mainly consists of hen and stag do’s, as well as the usual birthday, work, and lad’s/girl’s night out’s, with people getting drunk and dancing away on the boat for a few hours before it returns to the Quayside where there are plenty of bars to venture to. As part of my job, I have to work on said boat sometimes, which involves me having to deal with aforementioned drunk people. Lately there has been a song which people keeping requesting from the boat’s DJ, which is a rehash of another popular song this year – Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.

The mashup was Party Rock Anthem remixed with Montell Jordan’s – This Is How We Do It, and having been requested a fair few times to the point where I was still annoyingly humming it the next day, I decided to do a little rummaging around on-line and do a post about it. Apparently the mix is by MixmstrStel, and was created as part of an online competition, and is available on Soundcloud (player embedded below). I have also included download links of the track as well.

Ellie Goulding has a new single – Lights – out from her album bright lights, as well as a new video which has been put up on Youtube (and embedded above). The track is great and is surely going to become a favourite for DJ’s to remix and mash up, with a lot of versions already out there.

So here is another Lonely Island song that’s blowing up on the internet right now. This is in the run up to their next album launching in 2011, which is the follow up to Incredibad. Anyway this one is called I just had sex and features Akon on the track, as well as the hot Jessica Alba and Blake Lively in the video. Its pretty funny, but be prepared for this to get old – very fast! Download links below:

The Tree of Life Trailer Music

Over at the Apple trailer site, the trailer for the new Brad Pitt and Sean Penn film – The Tree of Life has launched. I have to say this film came out of nowhere for me as I had not heard of it till I watched the trailer, but from the looks of it, its going to be amazing! The camera work looks great, and the style of filming they have chosen to go with, suits the tone of the trailer/film (I guess). I have no idea what is up with the space shots that are featured (they look really cool as well) but I think we’ll find out.

The other thing that stands out in the trailer is the score track featured. Apparently this might have been done by Alexandre Desplat. Anyway some industrious fellow at the IMDB forums has ripped the score from the official site, which you can download from the links below.

Inception Movie Appreciation Post – Soundtrack and Zach Hemsey Trailer Music, plus more!!

So apparently one of the big films of the year is something called Inception!? If you can’t tell, that is sarcasm. I am currently working out of China till the end of the year, and missed Inception when it came out in the West. It came out on show in China on the 2nd September, but due to various work commitments and a general sense of laziness I have managed to maintain since I was 13 years old, I have not seen the film yet. And I have been told many times by my ex-pat compatriots that it is one of those films, “you just have to see at the cinema!” Which doesn’t help! The main reason I want to see the film, apart from being a major Christopher Nolan film fan, is the awesome trailers for the film (there’s one below), and the score that accompanied them. After some research online, the soundtrack for the movie is being done by soundtrack maestro Hans Zimmer. I purchased the soundtrack as soon as it became available online, and whilst it is the usual brand of Zimmer-awesomness, it did not contain the track that was shown in the trailers!? After some more Internet rooting, I found out that it was a track called Mind Heist by Zach Hemsey. Its one of those haunting tracks that just sticks in your head and really makes you want to see the film i.e. makes an amazing trailer!

Whilst digging I found a link to the end track from the Orchestral score from the film by Hans Zimmer called Time. If you haven’t all ready done it, I was seriously consider purchasing the soundtrack!!

Fear Of Tigers – I Can Make The Pain Disappear (Monsieur Adi Remix)

So this morning at work I was doing my thing, killing time by looking for new stuff on Hype Machine to listen too whilst toiling, when I came across a nice little gem. That being the Monsieur Adi remix of Fear of Tigers – I Can Make the Pain Disappear. Having never heard of Fear of Tigers before, I listened to both versions of the song. I prefer the Adi remix more to be honest, but the original is still very good, and is still in my Hype Machine playlist. Which one do you prefer?

Soundtracks: Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks, straight from Warehouse 13

So I thought I would start a new post series on this blog of mine, that concerns soundtracks, mainly those from films, TV shows, trailers, games etc. Basically if there’s a song that I hear during a film, or TV show and I like it, then basically I will do the usual and write a small, babbling bit about it, then link to the song. Enough said.

The first one off the block, would be a song that I heard while listening to last weeks episode of Warehouse 13 called Vendetta, the bit when Claudia was stalking her ex outside his shop. It was a very catchy number that became stuck in my head.

After a bit of digging I found out the song was Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks, which has also featured on a recent episode of Entourage as well (but I saw that episode and didn’t notice the track whilst watching it, go figure). The song now has a permanent placement in my play list rotation – that is until I get sick of it, which tends to happen with all the really catchy songs!

On a side note, I found out that rapper Shawn Chrystopher has already sampled Pumped Up Kicks, placing his own vocals in to the mix, the track being All The Other Kids. Already now, I think I’m starting to prefer the Shawn Chrystopher version.

So whilst I’m working here in China, I try and keep in touch with the more westerner’s style music by listening to tunes on Hype Machine. One of the songs that I have seen repeatedly on there in the past few days is Nicki Minaj & Will.i.am – Check it out, which seems to be doing the rounds.
The version’s that I have been hearing, have had crappy DJ intro’s and sound bites over the top, because I’m guessing they were featured on some poxy two-bit internet radio station who was trying to get their name out there, by lambasting it over a decent song. Anyway I’ve gotten around that and have found a ‘clean’ copy. Clean in that it doesn’t feature the shitty DJ sound effects, but also in that it doesn’t have any of the swearing that the kids love these days. Shit, Can’t have everything.

Anyway enjoy the catchy sample of Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles with the vocals of Nicki Minaj and Will.i.am, without the annoying crap over the top:

Cee-lo Green – Fuck You – Break up song that’s catchy as hell

Well this song seems to have blown up all over the internet. Fuck you by Cee-lo Green of Gnarls Barkley fame is a catchy little post break up number, with a nice follow-the-lyrics video. And it features the f-bomb, a lot. You know, fuck. So that probably helped a little with its popularity.
