The controversial, yet limitless VICE magazine has released The Photo Issue 2009. The good folks at Selectism turn us to this collaboration piece by Barbour and J.Crew. The Bedale Jacket is made in England with a waxed Sylkoil cotton finish. The jacket is “described as “ready-for-anything” and with Corduroy lining the full neck collar, we couldn’t agree more. The versatility and rugged texture is sure to last, but will the stock?

Nissan’s opened the doors to its Sportscars Shop at the Nurburgring Promenade, blessing enthusiasts with NISMO and Nissan merchandise while providing flawless eye candy like the GT-R, 370Z Nurburgring Edition (limited to 80 units) and the GT-R SpecV. The exhibition space to be located at the Ring is couldn’t come at a better time for Nissan, as the carmaker’s Godzilla holds the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time record.

Fans will be able to get in the shop from 10am to 8pm. As far as the SpecV is concerned, that beauty is set to go on sale later this year, but maybe if you’re nice (and wealthy enough), you’ll somehow be able to drive one home. Far fetched, I know, but using my imagination keeps me looking young.

When you go looking for mystical motor sports sites, you are sure to wind up in the volcanic landscape of the Eifel mountain range sooner or later. This is where you find the Nürburgring Nordschleife, still the ultimate when it comes to putting those who participate in the different races held here as well as the materials they use to the test. It is also where the design of many new cars undergoes the ultimate test of strength and endurance, in the “Green Hell”.

Nissan has been among those fascinated with the Nürburgring for some time now. And so, the Japanese company has become involved in more than just the legendary 24-hour race. Nissan has also tried to create a permanent place for itself at the Eifel track and, in March 2007, the company opened its test centre in Troisdorf, a city near Bonn, where it can test out its new models on the Nordschleife. Last April, during its tuning runs with its new sports car, the GT-R, Nissan was able to attain a legendary time on the 20.8-kilometre stretch. The latest version of the mega sports car with 356 kW/486 HP clocked in at a new record time of 7:26.7 minutes.

The Japanese car manufacturer is now getting ready to present a thrilling look into its world: the Nissan Sportscars Shop, on the Nürburgring’s new ring°boulevard, where visitors can experience Nissan. The company hopes to share its own love of racing with fans from all over the world and to let visitors experience its expertise as a longstanding manufacturer of fascinating sports cars. The Nissan Sportscars Shop, which occupies about 500 square metres of space, opened as part of the celebrations surrounding the dedication of the new Nürburgring on 09 July.

Every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nissan shop, visitors can browse among fascinating sports cars and lifestyle products or relax in the Nissan lounge. In addition to the GT-R and the 370Z NÜRBURGRING EDITION, which is limited to 80 cars, highlights include the GT-R SpecV version, the only place in Europe where customers and enthusiasts will be able to see this hyper-exclusive model.

This high-performance version of Nissan’s supercar offers numerous modifications compared to the production model, such as additional carbon fibre parts, carbon ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust system and a button-operated, short-time torque booster. Trained personnel are available to answer all your questions about the cars and can get you in touch with a Nissan sales representative at the dealership upon request. Sales of GT-R SpecV will begin later this year, with price to be confirmed in the coming months.

Visitors to the Sportscar Shop can also purchase high-quality Nissan merchandise and its motor sports department NISMO, including rare items imported from Japan as well as scale models of cars.

The Nissan Sportscars Shop is also slated to take on a more central role in many of the company’s marketing and sales activities. At the end of October 2009, for example, the company has planned an entire week full of action. The schedule includes a drift event at the Nürburgring, track days with the Nissan GT-R on the Nordschleife and a “tour of the senses”, a journey through the picturesque Eifel countryside surrounding the racetrack.

The Nürburgring’s expansion into a year-round recreation and business centre is an important milestone in the history of the Nordschleife, which was first built in 1927. In addition to a new main stand with 5,000 covered seats, the new grounds feature presentation and event areas as well as additional accommodations in the track’s immediate vicinity, an expanded range of services for corporate customers, and indoor attractions. The ring°boulevard forms the central axis of the Nürburgring. On it, leading car manufacturers and accessory experts have set up themed stores and exhibition spaces along the Grand Prix track’s start and finish straightaways. The covered promenade is directly connected to other new attractions such as the ring°arena for public events and the ring°werk (motor sports museum).

No matter who the owner, Jaguar will not forget its British roots. What better place to unveil the carmaker’s 2010 XJ than in London? We’ve all sat patiently and we’ve finally been rewarded. The 2010 Jaguar XJ will be available in two varieties, one in standard and another with a long wheelbase that adds five inches to the rear-passenger’s spacious environment.

The European market will be blessed with a 3.0L V6 diesel while Americans will be offered three versions: a 385-hp 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, a 470-hp 5.0L supercharged V8 and a 510-hp 5.0L supercharged V8.

Our friends at egmCarTech tell us prices will start at $72,500 for the XJ and $79,500 for the XJL with the naturally aspirated V8. The 470-hp  2010 XJ Supercharged and the XJL Supercharged will carry a price tag of  87,500 and $90,500, respectively. The top-of-the-line 5.0L XJ and XJL Supersport will start at a $112,000 and $115,000 MSRP, respectively.

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is getting a helping hand from German designer Jil Sander. The +J collection has not received a concrete release date but we’re hoping it’s soon.

Jil Sander’s creative role at Uniqlo extends beyond the +J collection to the brand’s other apparel and accessories for men and women. But it is understood that the designer is focusing her initial efforts on the fall/winter launch of this newly created collection, flying frequently between her home in Hamburg, Germany and Tokyo.

Highsnobiety tells us the +J collection will be sold at Uniqlo’s flagship stores in major cities and on the brand’s own website.

Last month, Independent Fabrication sent out two SSR Rapha frames for the Rapha Racing team in NYC. All of the frames IF makes for or in conjunction with Rapha get the sterling silver Rapha headbadge, cast by the crafter’s jewelers in Maine. Each frame and fork has painted in graphics and polished stainless steel rear ends. Both frames are also blessed with the rider’s name, and for Rapha’s Racing team, it seems the squad’s filled with two interesting characters that go by Cranky and North.

Josh Spear turns us to these limited edition colored saddles by Brooks England, the English purveyor of handmade leather saddles and accessories since 1866. The company will be releasing Limited Edition Swift saddles in four unique colours and Limited Edition Team Pro saddles in two unique colours. The limited edition colours will be released in July in quantities of 250. The Team Swift saddles are in celebration of one of the fastest growing urban cycling sports: Bike Polo; the Team Pro saddles celebrate Brooks’ support of the cycle couriers.

The good folks at StyleCrave have turned us to American watchmaker Hamilton’s collaboration with Nano Universe to bring you a wonderful rendition of their Ventura chronograph watch. “A well equipped timepiece, the new Ventura Chronograph sports a stainless steel frame offset and features the iconic triangular black case with 3 sub dials for chrono functions. Dublin-born Tony Kelly is known for his fashion-focused photography, but many forget his eight year coverage of things most wouldn’t dare like the civil war in Rwanda and the war in Afghanistan.
