Misty and Greg of Luxe Event Productions put together yet another uber-successful wedding show. They are so organized and well respected in this industry and we are so happy to be a part of their vision. They invited us to be their sponsor photographers and we loved the assignment. Josh and I spent 4 hours walking around the wedding show, taking photos of the couples visiting, interacting with the vendors as well, and details of the 25 cakes and the rest! Truly a great show.

A quick bridal portrait.

What a beautiful bride! Josh was assisting as one of the shooters for Jos Photographers at this wedding, back in June of 2011. Needless to say, it was a long wedding day with multiple locations and amazing people. When it came time for them to do some bridal portraiture, this is one of the images that Josh took. Umbrellas! Always fun to bring props on shoots, even on a wedding!

Hi friends! It's almost Valentine's Day and we here at MoscaPhoto, wanted to offer you some great savings on our portrait/couple/engagement session package! It's a great way to get you two to be the center of attention, to be like models in from on our cameras, to explore areas of Portland and to have some quality time with one another. We'll be there to capture it all.

Time flies, life is short (I've learned this the hard way!) so the least I can do is be sure that more of you can afford beautiful, quality professional photography. We are in our slow time of year now, so we are able to schedule many more portraits than usual! Lets talk about where and when you'd like to do this and let's do it! :)

Here are the details:

- This shoot at this special price expires on 2.20.12
- Book us by 2.20.12 with a check for $100 (this retainer is non-refundable and it has to be sent in with a contract which I will email you when you email me Alice@MoscaPhoto.com)
- The rest ($75) is due the day of the shoot itself
- The shoot can happen anytime between when you book us and the end of May 2012 (to allow for the best weather possible)
- The shoot is to happen within Portland proper (locations outside of Portland are totally welcome! We love to explore new places! But there will be a slight travel charge for gas and time. Ask us about it with your desired location and we can go from there!)
- You are to receive both Josh and I as your photographers, one hour of photography, your own online gallery with the images in it, and the possibility for you to share the gallery with friends and to order products on your own (like enlargements, canvas prints, calendars, books, etc...)

Cathedral Park Engagement Session in Portland Oregon.

Meet Jessica & Joe. We had met Jessica during our initial consultation over coffee, but it was our first time meeting her fiance Joe... and we hit it off immediately! Fun, funny, loving couples are what Josh and I need to keep ourselves inspired and to keep our spirits and positiveness high. This day was beautiful and they were so great to let us take them all around our favorite spots in Cathedral Park. The bridge, the river, the paths... and even the weather! Everything was perfect. We make a post like this one every year, at the end of the year. We love to photograph every aspect of a wedding day, including the details that make each event as unique as you are! Flower arrangements are part of the colorful decor that a couple take time in choosing... we realize how personal each flower decision is, so we love to share our past couples' ideas with you in hopes to help you choose your own ;)

We have had the pleasure of working alongside several talented florists who have nothing but satisfied and inspired our couples and us. We have also had some brides take the wedding flowers one step further by picking their own flowers and arranging them themselves! 'tis the season! This is the time for a little extra time with family and close friends (you've reunited for the Holidays! Make the most of it!). This is the time to ponder about the past year's hard work and happenings (we know we've had many "firsts" that we will always cherish!). Our last wedding day of the 2011 season! Embassy Suites downtown portland and Oaks Park in Sellwood.

Rachael and Matthew commissioned us to be their engagement and wedding photographers some two years ago! They were living in Arizona at the time, but knew that they would marry in Portland, around Thanksgiving 2011. Sure enough, they did! This was MoscaPhoto's last wedding shoot of our amazing 2011 wedding season and it was memorable. We really got to know Rachael & Matthew over the two years prior to their wedding (we even photographed them for TWO engagement sessions! One INSIDE of the Rose Garden, on the Blazers court and one at Oaks Amusement Park in Sellwood). When their wedding day came about, we felt like we already knew them as friends and were really looking forward to finally seeing them get married! Here is a quick summary of their 10 hour wedding day.

12 days of Panama. A beautiful country.

Panama. It's an amazing place. I have lived in Caracas, Venezuela (among other places in the world) and had a pre-determined idea of what Panama was going to be like, being "another latin country". Well, boy was I wrong. My parents live there (have for 4 years) and have attempted to explain and describe it to me, but nothing was more convincing than to actually be there and experience it.

Images don't do it justice. It is well worth travelling to and spending some quality time exploring and talking to the locals. They are extremely proud of their country and willing to talk with you to show you just how excited they are to have the canal and all it's money back in their hands. Their president has used (and is using) this money, to grow the city in all it's glory. New infrastructure, new buildings, new roads, more police force, gardens, public works, etc...

Don't get me wrong. It's still a latin country and it's still in it's early stages of growth (only 10 years since the Panama Canal changed hands from the USA to Panama), but the positive energy and enthusiasm of getting better and the willingness of inviting foreign people to come in and stay, is evident and refreshing. Nothing at all like Caracas, which we all know is unfortunately in the grips of a tyrant.

I have over 600 images from 12 days in Panama. I am only posting a handful, in the hopes that you will get a solid idea of the few places I had the pleasure of seeing thanks to my parents as guides. When Josh and I will return there, together, we will have much more freedom to explore places away from "civilization" to see where the coffee plantations are, and the islands in the Caribbean side, and the mountains near Costa Rica.

Ask me anything about Panama. I have asked enough questions to my parents and to their local friends, to know enough about it and to have convinced myself to turn MoscaPhoto into a global entity. That's right, we will start the process of becoming an international photography company having bases both here in Portland and in Panama City. I speak Spanish, Italian and English fluently, so I will be able to organize and make things happen! We are so excited about this. It will take a long time to make it happen and we will only be Panama based for a few months, while it's winter here. Nothing is set in stone, but the wheels are rolling!

Never have I been to or seen a country with such an immense influx of new money. It is obviously a rich country now and it is truly impressive. The old and the new coexists flawlessly and evidence of making the old and dilapidated anew is also evident. Soon, the whole city (and consequently, the country) will be functional to the T. Truly amazing! I was impressed and I can't wait to go back!

Hello friends! I've been missing for the past 12 days from the MoscaPhoto BLOG world (but super active on our Facebook page, be sure to like us over there too! ;) because I was abroad! My parents live in Panama and I had the opportunity of having an early holiday break with them there. I left on the 6th and returned just yesterday (the 18th of December).

I have SO many images to show you! I'll be taking today to get back on my feet after being away for a while, so many more photos will be coming at you soon... for now, I wanted to share one of them ;)

You should have seem me this night... I was walking back from a resort to the little condo that my parents have just down the street in Playa Blanca when I noticed that the moon was simply glorious! Not only that, the skies were clear and the stars were bright. So I ran to the condo, grabbed my camera and ran right back to the beach. It was around 11pm. I was all alone in the dark (just moonlit) and started playing with long exposures and making myself be part of the images. Needless to say, I would set the camera to however many seconds (this particular shot was at 30 seconds exposure!) and then I'd RUN to the front of the lens. I was trying so hard not to move for that whole time and especially not to LAUGH! I was having fun running back and forth for about ab hour... I wonder if anyone saw me?! HAHA :D

Well, here's one of my favorites of the night. I love how transparent I am. And I had no idea that there were clouds in the distance OR that the tide was low. And those little lights at the very edge of the sea were fishermen... They weren't visible to the naked eye either. Amazing what opening up the exposure can reveal in the dark! I love photography...

It's been a while since we've posted anything personal ;) I've been looking through our computers, in hopes of cleaning up hard drives and permanently storing older images, to make way for new shoots... in this process, I have come across never before seen images of urban scenes and urban details of the beautiful Portland Oregon. Our city is cozy and architecturally interesting. Josh and I used to spend more time walking around town, looking for details to photograph... here are some from a few years ago that I'd love to share with you. Wider scenes are what we clearly see, even from cars while driving. Closer up details are aspects of the environment around us that we only see if we take out time, walk around and look hard. All are worth capturing. Thanks for looking! :)

Baby photography galore! Meet Juliette...

* Such * a cute post! Why? 'Cause look at this baby! ;)

Her name is Juliette and she is the brand new baby of Lindsay & Tim (who were married in October of 2010 at Abernethy Center). We met them then and continue, to this day, as their friends and photographers. We love our "job"! :)

So, meet Juliette! We LOVE gaining the new friends that being wedding photographers allows... and when we ge to stay in touch and be a part of additional memorable and important milestones, it's even more rewarding. Juliette was born this past October and she is a doll. A perfect little face and super cooperative too! It's almost as if she knew she was in the spotlight and was so sweet to not cry or fuss about me being there for a whole hour. Yay!

Her sister Trinity was also there, feeding her and being the wonderful big sister that she is. We love this family! We're so happy to have them in our lives and can't wait to see what the future brings!

OH! And I can't forget to mention Marley... the last of the photos here in this post are of him. One of the sweetest dogs I've met! He was outside, waiting patiently while we were inside taking photos and sure enough, he kept lurking and wanting to come in. When he put his nose to the glass and pressed, I HAD TO take a photo ;)

This year has been amazing and we got to work alongside many of them more than once (we can't wait for more opportunities!). I know I will post this and then remember more vendors... I just know it! Josh and I could not possibly be where we are today if it weren't for MANY aspects of life (in no particular order):

- YOU mom and dad

Let me break it down even further... ;)

This 2011 wedding season has been the best yet. We keep getting more and more requests for photo shoots; collaboration inspiration ones with peers, as well as true client ones. Not only that, this 2011 wedding season has been an even better commercial photography (mostly restaurant related) year AND a great personal and work travel year as well. OH! I can't forget to mention the fact that this 2011 year has also been the year during which we were:

- voted by YOU to be runner up, Best Wedding Photographers in Portland via Oregon Bride Magazine (number 2 never felt so good!) ;)
- voted by 20 photography peers to be a part of My Portland Photographer which is a selective and successful group of 20 strong local photographers who stick together to collaborate and make our presence known

We are thankful for all of this and can't wait to see what the future will bring. Bring it ON! We are here and ready for it... we are eager to know more wonderful new clients, more wonderful new networking buddies, more wonderful locations in the world, and more wonderful techniques and ideas and products to offer through our business. We are always growing and never static. We always have the wellbeing of our business in mind, which in turn, reflects on how we, as a human couple, are able to live too. Everything is intermingled and intertwined and codependent.

So you see, without each and everyone of YOU, we would not be able to do what we do, do it well, and do it consistently.

A fun tradition that we started back in 2008 with our bride Sarah, is to have Josh pose with our brides with their thumbs up. That signals the last moment of our time at the wedding AND the end of the editing process in post too. It's a fun little game we play that, when we forget to do it, we are even asked about it by our brides, on our way out. LOVE IT! :) Below if our 2011 year in review, with some brides missing (not sure what happened there! BOO!) and with a few added images of some great people in the business :) I'll be more specific with which of the vendors we work with, whom we especially love, in my next blog post :)

We're so proud of our printed products! It's the reason why we always include them in any of our packages. Photographs deserve to be printed, touched, passed around AND passed ON, from generation to generation. Whenever I find myself back in Rome, I always make it a point to look through my parents' wedding album from their wedding in the '70s and I LOVE IT! :)

This particular book, below, is a beautiful, real leather, cream colored, silver embossed, 4x6 image opening, 10x10 inch wedding album -- I know! Lots of words there ;) But I'm super descriptive, right? ;)

This is an exclusive line of albums that are only offered to photographers who have Pictage as a business partner; you won't find these books around the web as "consumer" products. These are Willow Book books and are made just for professionals. They are high quality, hand made, and always stunning. We are never disappointed and just wait 'till you see the new line they will soon be offering us! At the beginning of November, we were at a photography conference in San Diego where we had the pleasure of being a part of a panel of photographers who's input was used to better this new line and we are SO excited for them to come out!

The design within the book is meticulously made by me, Alice, while the images were chosen by our couple, Heidi & Marty. This is actually THEIR personal book! We just received it in the mail and wanted to take these images of it for you all to see. Heidi & Marty chose the image on the cover and the leather color too. They did a great job with their choices! This book is truly stunning and I can't wait to hear from them once they receive it in a few days ;)

Here is a breakdown of their cost. Think of this as an investment! As I have said before, photographs are meant to be enjoyed and loved for years to come, and there is no better what to do this than by having them printed... either loosely as regular 'ol prints, or within a gorgeous archival book like this one. Also as mentioned above, many of our packages come with a book like this. And if your package doesn't, it can certainly be added on as a bonus product!

(These prices are current 2011 and 2012 prices. We reserve the right to increase them as our own costs increase year to year. We try our best to keep prices constant for at least 2 wedding seasons, but are obligated to shape their price according to our own changing costs. Please inquire with us about current pricing. What a great surprise to wake up to today! Style Me Pretty (click it! :) has featured our styled shoot of Sam, a REAL bride who was styled and art directed by Misty of Luxe Event Productions, photographed by me of Mosca Photo and filmed by Karyn of Black Label Films. A huge thank you to the rest of the wonderful vendors involved in this shoot too! I've listed them all and they rock!

I say... why not spend more time in front of the camera, all dolled up, before your wedding day?! Or after! Why not? ;) Sometimes weddings can be hectic and us photographers may only have a little bit of time scheduled for a bridal shoot... but if we can organize to meet up another time, for some one-on-one sessions, everyone wins! :)

Fall colors & autumn decor at this Gorge Crest Vineyard wedding.

Another BEAUTIFUL wedding day at Gorge Crest Vineyard. This was our 6th wedding there (during this season alone) and it was the last one of the season for the venue itself. Well... we left the place with a bang! :)

The rains held off {as they always do when MoscaPhoto photographs weddings... seriously! It's strange but we have this crazy aura around us that seems to protect our couples' wedding days from rain. Love it!} Not only did the rains hold off, the fall colors in the surrounding trees AND the beautiful copper-red hair on Lisa, made this wedding bright and colorful and warm.

It was a moving day too: the first dance song they danced to is one of the few songs that Josh and I sing to each other lovingly... so you can only imagine the tears that were streaming out of me during it! The beautiful circular set up for the ceremony chairs, the colorful leaves and the bonfire really added to the general feel of peacefulness and unity. A beautifully unique-to-them wedding day.

Lisa and Chris are genuine people, in love and happy. We could tell when we photographed their engagement session and then again during their wedding day. The 10 hours went by very quickly and the whole day was perfect. Here is a sneak peek of it! Have fun in SE Asia you two!! <3

Pearl District Portland engagement session

Katie and Nick! They are originally not from Oregon, so this engagement session doubled as a little bit of a walking tour of part of our Northwest neighborhood :) We started off in the Alphabet District, walked all the way to the Industrial NW area under the Fremont Bridge and then circled back around to The Pearl. It was a beautiful sunny and warm-ish autumn day and it was fun! We had a blast getting to know them and are excited for the new friendship!!

SURPRISE proposal in Oregon's wine country. She said YES!

We literally and seriously have no words to describe how touched and fulfilled and happy we are to do what we do. Not only are we your wedding photographers, we are also your friends... and as friends, everything you do is meaningful to us. And if you ask us to be there for you, during one of these important moments, we will be there.

Yesterday (October 23rd 2011) was no different. Nate called Josh and set up a time to meet up. Krystal and I were texting back and forth about unrelated things. Little did she know that Nate, Josh and I were collaborating in secret about visiting them on Sunday, for brunch and then joining them for a fun afternoon wine tasting in Oregon's wine country... and photographing his proposal to her!

We met with them in the morning, had delicious breakfast, drove together to Erath Winery near Dundee Oregon and started wine tasting and admiring the beautiful autumn colors of the vineyard grounds.

Allow me to backtrack for one second... Krystal & Nate were randomly in Hawaii, swimming in the water, in Waikiki, at the same exact time as Josh and I, this past April. Josh accidentally bumped into them and ended up talking about being from Portland. It turns out that we all were from Portland and VOILA'! Friends at first sight! We hit it off immediately and ended up taking trips on the island together for our entire stay. It was amazing! Travelling does that to you, but this time, we had a bonus. These two fun travelers were going to go right back to Portland, where we live too! Ever since then, we've been great friends...

SOOOOO... when Nate asked us to be there for him, at the moment he proposed to Krystal, we were SO happy and of course, couldn't miss it for the world!

Notice Josh trying to distract Krystal telling her to look away (from where Nate was coming, since he was hiding the ring behind his back). As soon as Nate got close enough, we stepped back and let them do their thing... I TEARED UP and she said YES!

Another fantastic Bridal Show / Wedding Show presented by Luxe Event Productions in collaboration with a select group of vendor sponsors (us of MoscaPhoto included!) and, of course, all of the rest of the vendors who participated as exhibitors. Committed was amazing. I even personally went "crazy" and asked my friend Jessica (a fabulous make up artist here in Portland!) do doll me up with her magic touch... thank you Jessica!

The date was this past Friday, October 21st, 2011 and it was at the Ambridge Event Center on MLK Boulevard, just North of the Oregon Convention Center.

700 guests walked through the doors between 5 and 9pm and it absolutely felt packed and loud, while organized and fun! There was friendliness, humor, professionalism and cooperation and definitely LOTS of love in the air.

Josh and I are honored to have been there not only as a photography vendor, but as the sponsor photographers as well. Luxe Event Productions and we have worked together for several years, on projects that only aid on inspiring future couples to have the most perfect wedding. This kind of cooperation and the hard work put into it, is what sets vendors apart. OH! And thank you also to the beautiful models who took time out of their lives to volunteer to strut clothes and accessories for the enjoyment of all!

To anyone who made it to the show, thank you for indulging us and for the chats, laughter, information and inquiries! To those who didn't have a chance to come, don't worry! Committed 2012 will arrive sooner than you think, I am sure ;)

A sweet engagement session in a corn maze on Sauvie Island.

Barb and Dave will marry where they are originally from, in the midwest, next spring. They live here in Portland now, so we got together for their fun engagement session! We'd been trying to pick a perfect weather day for a beach session, but ended up getting overcome by rain and cold... SO! We decided to stay in town and to have some fun on Sauvie Island! Krueger Farm is a great place to visit. Not only do they have a wonderful, all natural and local veggie store (which we took advantage of that day, to restock our fridge!), they also have a great and fun corn maze that every year, at this time, is fully grown and perfect for fun farm photos! Here is a sneak peek of their session with us. It turned out to be a perfect day!
