Mt Hood Bed and Breakfast Wedding Venue BEAUTY.

This is one of our favorite places to photograph a wedding, hands down. There is everything imaginable for a whimsical, barn, outdoor, panorama, country-chic, elegant wedding day. There are even beautiful horses and sometimes, herds of elk! It's a historic homestead, curated by a wonderful family.

Mt Hood Bed & Breakfast is am amazing place.

"Aaaand KISS!": A collection of fun MoscaStudio wedding photography kisses.

Those clients whom have already gone through our services at least once (the engagement session, if not both engagement AND wedding) will probably recognize our little "Aaaaand KISS!" phrase ;) It's funny but it works! You walk away from us, or towards us as it may be, you may be sitting on a bench someplace, or even leaning against a wall... we'll get you to kiss with this little phrase... and we will capture it! ;)

Just for fun, and because 'tis the season for mistletoe and kissing under it... here is a fun collection of many of our beautiful couples, kissing! Some are in fields of flowers or groves of trees, some are at their wedding, while some are in city parks. ALL are in love and embracing of one another. Ours has to be one of the most happy and personally rewarding job in the world!

Some are posted here as a preview, while all 92 of them are in the slide show below ;) Roam through and hopefully this helps put a little bit of a smile on your faces :)

FYI: Do you know where the tradition of "kissing under the mistletoe" comes from? We've searched the interwebs and have found an interesting little article at this link. Traditions and their historic provenance are so fun to learn about!

2013 MoscaStudio Wedding Season Revisited: Wedding Flower Trends!

Every year, at the end of the wedding season, we gather all of the images of the bridal bouquets used by our wedding couples, and organize them into one big blog post. This year (better late than never!) is no exception. It's fun to see trends come and go as each season passes, but it's also interesting to see which colors and styles seem to be more timeless, remaining popular throughout the seasons. Below is this 2013 wedding season's flowers. Thank you SO much, as always, to all of the amazing florists in Portland! Every one of them is incredibly talented and possesses a unique style. I would have SUCH a hard time choosing a florist for myself! :)

University of California Botanical Garden Destination Wedding Day

Meet Jen and Alex, everyone! I have known Jen for YEARS (since 2000), when we were both working as archaeologists in Phoenix Arizona. Some of our past colleagues were at their wedding too, so it was a sort of awesome reunion for us!

AAAAHHHH how I love California weddings, especially among old friends! They married at University of California's Botanical Gardens and it was glorious. The ceremony was in an amphitheater among the majestic Redwoods on a perfectly warm and sunny October California day. The reception was at the hall within the botanical gardens, which was beautiful too! To get to it, everyone had to walk through the Redwood grove and then the gardens themselves... So beautiful!

Jen and Alex are two peas in a pod. They met while excavating in Egypt and have been inseparable and in love ever since. I could not possibly be more happy and excited for the two of them and their life together. It has been a few years since I had seen Jen and it was an honor to see her again... THIS HAPPY!!! alongside her love, Alex.

Danielle and Jeff's Portland Pearl District Fall Engagement Session

Danielle and Jeff are going to marry at the beautiful Red Ridge Farms in Dundee, Oregon, next summer. It's in Oregon's wine country and it will be beautiful! We had a blast getting to know them and photographing them on this beautifully sunny and crisp fall day in Portland this year. They live in Los Angeles but came north, to Portland, to meet with some vendors and to have the opportunity to get their engagement session done.... SO glad they came up when they did: the weather was perfect and we had a blast! We can't forget to mention pretty little Bella... She's the little doggie in some of the photos below. #aww ;)

Mt Hood Bed and Breakfast Wedding Day - Sharon & Matt's Sneak Peek

Meet Sharon & Matt! They are two fun and funny and loving lovebirds - that's right! loving lovebirds! - who's wedding was not made any less awesome and meaningful, despite the crazy weather. This was the weekend during which the remnant of a huge typhoon was making it's way over the Pacific Northwest. Winds were whipping heavy rains sideways and big billowing clouds were covering everything, including the usually exposed and impressive Mt Hood. Sharon and Matt live in Seattle. They decided to have somewhat of a destination wedding at the base of Mt Hood. The weather did not cooperate that weekend. HOWEVER, everyone had a blast anyway! The two of them laughed their way thorough the part and at the end of the day... were MARRIED! We had a blast. It was like being around old friends. We're seriously so excited to know these two and are equally as exited to have this very detailed sneak peek of their day. Such a fun day! Portland Oregon, Autumn, Mt Tabor Engagement Session - a Quick Sneak Peek!

Meet Laura and Craig and their doggie! Laura is a professional musician and one of the sweetest people we've met. Together, they make a cute little family of three and we could not be more excited to be the ones to photograph their wedding day, next summer! They will marry at the beautiful Gorge Crest Vineyard in August. This past weekend, we met up for a morning engagement shoot at one of their favorite parks in Portland Oregon: Mt Tabor! It's where 3 of the city's drinking water reservoirs are and where people gather to enjoy nature and views of downtown, while immersed in tall, old-growth trees. This was a great time to visit the park! It turns out that the leaves were turning red as the grasses were as brightly green as they could be. Loved it!

The Mid-September Gorge Crest Vineyard Wedding Day of Katie & Todd

Katie & Todd married last month (September 14th 2013) at the always impressive Gorge Crest Vineyard, in Underwood WA. We love these two... they are professionals in their careers, have their head on their shoulders and are surrounded by wonderful friends and family.

Their wedding day was soooo great! Plenty of natural beauty and raw emotion to go around (and for us to capture). Katie has one of the biggest and brightest smiles around and everyone could really tell how special this day was to the two of them...

We are honored to have been there for them and are super excited to show these sneak peeks!

The Beautiful Hotel deLuxe Wedding Day of Victoria and Grant

Another beautiful wedding day is edited and ready to be shown off... why wouldn't it be?! It was beautiful! :) Victoria & Grant married at the fabulous Hotel deLuxe in NW Portland at the end of August. He and his Navy buddies were in full ceremonial garbs, while Victoria was beautiful in her lace wedding dress. Thank you so much to everyone for an awesome party too!! The reception part of the day was awesome.... Josh ended up dancing with Grant's beautiful mom and grandmother! The picture perfect autumn Cannon Beach wedding day of Olivia and Ryan.

SUCH A GORGEOUS WEDDING! It was one fine late summer / early fall day on the Oregon Coast (September 21st 2013). It was pouring torrential rain on our drive from Portland to Cannon Beach. Once we got to the coast.... the rains dried up, the clouds parted and BAM! We were greeted by gorgeous blue skies, warm temperatures and lots of happy wedding people ;) Plus.... OMG Olivia & Ryan are probably two of the most photogenic and beautiful people we know. Seriously! It started to rain a bit at night, right when the sparkler exit was to happen. No problem! Once Josh and I organized the sendoff and arranged people to where they should be lined up with the fiery things, it was a matter of capturing the rain drops AND sparklers AND the two of them running through. LOVED IT! Here is a summary of their colorful day with many more to come, very soon :)

The Nines, Persimmon Country Club, Pittock Mansion and Urban Studio Wedding Day

Stephanie & Phil married on one of the beautifully sunny summer days that we've had the luck of having this past few months. It was an early start to their day (9am), which ended up being filled with gorgeous details, fun activities, beautiful people and what seemed like a whole tour of the City of Portland! ;) It was a long 12 hour day for us but it was AWESOME! Seriously! Thank you Stephanie & Phil and mom, for everything!

Portland Elopement Photography at Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood

Maya & Hideaki eloped with a handful of family members this past Friday August 9th, 2013. They flew to Portland from Tokyo and, together, celebrated the love between one another. We met at the always adorable Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood, OR to then drive to Washington Park Rose Gardens for even more portraits. A King's Raven Winery Wedding in Oregon's Wine Country

Char & Eric are MARRIED! We met them back in 2011 when they first contacted us for a consultation. We hit it off immediately and were ready to photograph their day the following year! Their date changed due to some logistics and FORTUNATELY we were still open on their second date. That second date came and went and it was glorious! :) King's Raven Winery is just outside of Portland proper and it's a great location for a wedding. The views of Oregon's wine country are majestic and there is plenty of space to explore for photos. August 3rd, 2013, Glenwood WA (a beautiful private cabin on gorgeous acreage).

We finally have a detailed blog post for you to enjoy. This was one of our most favorite weddings to date! The entire group of people was so accommodating... the location was stunning and being able to spend the night in a beautiful cabin in the woods neat Mt Adams.... was priceless. SO peaceful! This was one big group effort. The whole wedding day was made possible thanks to hand made projects made by friends and family. Josh and I were there to photograph their day and Solstice Wood Fire Cafe' was the caterer. Below is our photo-summary of their perfect day!

Emily & Jon's beautiful Gorge Crest Vineyards wedding!

Emily and Jon were a blast to photograph! They were one of the few couples who still retained the tradition of not seeing one another until the ceremony itself. I have to admit... there were some major tears all around! Plus.... we are total suckers for dogs at weddings and Leo-dog is one cool cat! I mean DOG! He never left their side... loved having him at their wedding.

Once again, Gorge Crest Vineyards was simply perfect. Bloomsbury Flowers from Stevenson Washington created a wildflower-style floral decor which I loved! Patricia (Gorge Hair) did a beautiful job on Emily's make up and hair (thank you, my friend!). Focal Point Digital Media ROCKED the video part of the day and we can't wait to work with them again! Their officiant was the always lovely Sandy Shipley of Sage Creative!

A sweet and colorful Abernethy Center (Abigail's Garden) wedding.

Portland's Abernethy Center's Abigail Garden is filled with beautiful light, at sunset. Candice and Narayan's wedding was bright and colorful, in part thanks to her bubbly personality and creativity! We loved the colors used in her wedding and we thank +Luxe Event Production (Luxe Event Productions) for the coordination and design. Reverend +Steve Sharp (with A Beautiful Ceremony NW) did a great job directing Candice and Narayan's ceremony (plus... he's such a great guy!) aaaand Simply Sweets really did a beautiful job on the wedding cake, wow! We had a very hard time picking a only a few images from their wedding day! The whole day was such a blast! It was a beautiful, sunny, fun, colorful and moving... we loved every minute of it, partly because we love Lauren & Tolga so much. We really bonded with them throughout the months) over a year I think!) of our relationship. We're sad that they have already moved to the East Coast so soon! Meagan & Adam's Black Butte Ranch Wedding. A Favorite Destination Location!

The story of Meagan and Adam begins like this: It was a dark and stormy night…

…The Portland Timbers were in a match on the field.

Two people saw each other cheering in the Timbers Army section of the stadium.

The Timbers won the match aaaand a it was love at first sight!

The day was July 13th 2013 and it’s a day we will not forget… it was SO FUN! It was filled with yellow and green (the colors of the Timbers). It was in one of the most beautiful places in Oregon (Black Butte Ranch in Sisters, OR) AND it was a gorgeous sunny day filled with beautiful and happy people. Plus, Josh and I got to stay overnight on Friday night and Saturday night, in a spacious home that Meagan and Adam graciously rented for us. What a great weekend that one was!

Gorge Crest Winery Destination Wedding of Tawny and Mike

Once again, Gorge Crest Vineyard did not disappoint. NOR did our beautiful couple, Tawny & Mike! They married there on 7.6.13 and it was glorious. The weather was a little on the hot side (it's July after all ;) but we adjusted our shooting schedule a bit, to make sure no one would be forced to be in the sun for more that a few minutes at a time. We love Gorge Crest and are so familiar with it... so much so that we are confident with being able to fit every part of a couple's wedding photography, without rushing nor stressing the couple with having to do things at specific times. We had a GREAT time with Tawny and Mike and so did they! Especially during the party time with our FAVORITE DJ in the area (DJ Dan Moe!). Here is their wedding recap!

Lewis and Clark College Campus Engagement Session

Char and Eric are FUN! We met up with them on Lewis and Clark College campus, where they met and went to school. The campus grounds are GORGEOUS! The old mansion is like stepping into the Old World with formal gardens and fountains and pools and old, mature greenery... perfectly manicured. We had a great time meeting them one early morning. They light was perfect and so was the weather: no rain and perfect temperatures (unheard of for springtime in Portland) ;) Here is their sneak peek. We are so excited for their wedding! It's been 2 years in the making!

Latourell Falls engagement session in the Columbia Gorge

Emily & Jon (and Leo-dog) are two outdoorsy people (and dog)! ;) They hike and explore nature as much as they possibly can, so it was only obvious for them to pick this beautiful location for their engagement session. Latourell Falls in the Columbia Gorge is one of those places that leave a visitor in awe. It's right off of Historic Hwy 30 (after a little bit of a hike) and well work the time to get there! We wish we had had more time to stay in the Gorge for more exploring... can't wait to get back out there! These are just a handful of the fun we had on their engagement session and we can't wait to see them again on their actual wedding day this July at Gorge Crest Vineyard!

Visiting the beautiful Villa Medici (Accademia di Francia) in Rome

Villa Medici is a gorgeous structure, complete with formal gardens and majestic views of Rome. It's situated just above the famous Spanish Steps and it's the current location of my childhood friend's restoration job. She is in charge of cleaning and fixing and restoring marble statues, stucco, murals, and gesso (and more) within the villa. It was such an awesome private tour of this villa and her job site! I can't wait to go back to explore even more... we only had a few hours to roam around the property this time... not enough! ;) Here are some images of those few hours at Villa Medici, in Rome.

We have known them for several years and love each and every one of them personally, but we also LOVE their music and whenever we have a chance, we go see them live.
