This recent meeting lasted less than three hours, making it the quickest council this year so far. Despite its length, the meeting featured plenty of debate on several hot button issues such as the controversial SEA-3 proposal to run propane freight through the city, parking and the city’s Capital Improvement Plan.

Beginning Dec. 16, motorists will be allowed to park for free at all on-street and off-street parking spaces throughout the city’s central business district.(Parking enforcement officers will, however, continue to enforce posted time limits at the metered spaces as well as other parking violations, such as unauthorized parking in handicapped spaces or in loading zones.) The Free Holiday Parking period continues until Jan. 2, 2014.
