Faith. Hope. Love Bracelet

2013-06-10T18:27:00.001-04:00

I'm so excited. It's amazing to me how life connects. In the words of @officiallyIce you gotta "Stay Woke Dawg" .... lolsmh, let me explain.

A couple years ago before I was going to graduate, I worked at the International Center at my former alma mater. I met students from all around the world. I'm talking S. Korea, Japan, Brazil, Croatia, etc., not only did I meet them; however, I befriended them. We turned out to be the cool kids on campus, go figure.

Feliepe from Brazil in particular held a special place in my heart. We both worked together, in between classes, he had one of those meaningful personalities that one could never forget. He was running for student body president, I helped him campaign. He suddenly fell ill, right when he was elected president, a year later he died.

At his memorial, upon entrance each person received a glow in the dark silicone bracelet. Each bracelet was individually package, and had the name of the supplier stamped on each bag. During the memorial, you know me, my marketing brain was in full throttle. I couldn't even concentrate.

My mom needed a bone marrow transplant soon, and all I could put together in my brain was Robin Roberts and her charitable bracelets.

I came home FULL of ideas. My moms transplant is going to cost over $100,000 and no that doesn't pay for food, lodging, or air fare.

I went home and designed those bracelets quick. I haven't even posted a link to them anywhere, and EVERYWHERE I go in my city, I see a bracelet. We've mailed out to our personal nerwork over a 1000 of them. I'm talking mail lady, churches and their congregation in its entirety, doctor offices, nurses, friends, and their friends, our family, and their families, etcccccc.

I always had a knack for non profits, I just didn't know it would be me, now, like this, under these circumstances. At 29, I never imagined being a caregiver to both of my parents at the same darn time. My friends ask me, how in the world haven't I lost it yet, (it being all of my marbles)... I don't know, but all I do know is God's Grace has been suffient for me.

I've been in retail, luxury retail

at that my entire life, and nothing has meant more to me than marketing these bracelets. I thank God everyday for the idea, the opportunity, and the hope that these bracelets actually bring, not just to me, but even to the people that wear them. It's so much bigger than a "trend" to me, F-A-fashion-statement, it is a statement.

Checks, I'm talking large summed BIG checks have been rolling in via us postage, from all over the world. More than I ever thought we would ever recieve in a billion years.

I guess that's how smooth God operates. His thoughts are bigger, He's ideas are more grand than we could ever think or concieve. I feel so blessed. No, I know that I am blessed.

Thank You.

*wait* to add to my testimony...

Yesterday my mom flew out to Minnesota and her room wasnt ready. The owner, of the hotel(s) that he owned just so happened to be at the front desk. He told my mom to have me email him in regards to our lodging expenses, and I quote, "he would love to help us in our time of need in any way that he can." #ThatsBiggerThanJustGoodKarmaThatsGodsKarma.

You know I had to posh it out, young H-O-(V)...

Karen Egren Collaborates With Voss Foundation for World Water Day

NEW YORK, NY - Karen Egren Jewelry is honored to partner with Voss Foundation in creating a new and exclusive bracelet collection for World Water Day on March 22, 2013 as a part of The International Year of Water Cooperation 2013. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to Voss Foundation’s mission to provide access to clean water to communities in Sub-Saharan Africa and raise awareness of the ongoing need in the region.

“Water is primarily a woman’s burden in Africa, so it is women who benefit most from Voss Foundation’s clean water projects,” says Kara Gerson, Voss Foundation’s Executive Director, “We are honored that Karen has taken the initiative to do something about this dire lack of access to clean water in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her stunning jewelry is profoundly beautiful as it both raises awareness of the water crisis’ impact on women and funds for the solution.

Feel both fashionable and empowered in this creative collaboration for a cause.
Our collective desire is to illuminate and bring attention to the lack of fresh water in Africa, while also enabling women to be stylish, socially conscious and help each other succeed.

Voss Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization founded by the directors of VOSS Water, aims to help fulfill communities’ water requirements and then focus on the self-improvement of lives and communities once basic water needs are satisfied. They have a particular interest in assisting women and girls who, relieved of the burden of fetching water, have time to devote to education and enterprise.

A successful business woman, entrepreneur and designer, this dream alliance has enabled Karen Egren to marry her passions for unique style, individuality, and commitment in empowering and supporting women with a purpose.

“After speaking with Kara Gerson, Executive Director of Voss Foundation, I was immediately inspired by their impressive and tireless work. Water is the vital resource for life and I desired to be part of the catalyst that transforms this grim situation. With the implementation of water wells and pumps in the African villages, my hope is for women in these communities to have the time to become educated, become entrepreneurs and develop their own voice.”

Designed by Karen and crafted in New York City, this exquisite collection embodies hope, generosity, and natural resources that sustain life, a goal we are devoted in achieving for all women of Africa.

The collection is available online at http://www.karenegren.com and 20% from the sale of each bracelet will be donated to Voss Foundation (Official Press Release; 22 March 2013).

Up in the clouds, me and my spouse
Rumors on the ground gettin' too loud
Please turn them shits down, can't hear myself think
Turbulence, shit, almost spilled my drink
In the White House with a mink
Running through that bitch like it's my house
All up in the hall like a mall
Told you motherfuckers, all I do is ball
No, I don't 'member you, I don't intend to empty my memory bank
It's a million dollars in it, baby, Hilary Swank
Sittin' next to Hillary smellin' like dank
Presidental pardon, name one nigga out there harder than him
I'll wait
I've been in my weight like 20 years straight
I've been on my vibe like 20 years straight
Don't fuck up my high, fuck up my high
Nights like this, I could fuck up a pie
Still be straight (still be straight)
Fall back, bitch, I got a lot on my plate
Don't waste my breath
I don't know how many moons a nigga got left
Back to this joint, smokin' this shit like I'm tryna' prove a point
I'm the highest, the highest title, numero uno
Kill my vibe, that's your motherfuckin' funeral

Real Playa Like - Fabolous lyrics (via rap genius)

2013-02-28T14:59:00.002-05:00

[Fabolous]
Tryin to show you somethin shorty
Ay baby girl they say the world is a beautiful place, that's right
I'm tryin to help you open yo' eyes and see that
Ha ha, this some shit, cool shit, real playa like

[Hook: Fabolous] + (Lloyd)
Hey shorty, we can do it real playa like
We can go a few places that you say you like
See what a day is like when you be my a-alike
Girl just lay back, I'll do it the way you like
(Said it's the flyest thing, just the way we swing)
(Me and you, how we do, be so flyyyy)

[Fabolous]
You need to leave them burgers alone and make a steak upgrade
I'm filet mignon with a tape-up fade
I see things clear through these Mark Jacob shades
Like the clarity in these jewels that Jacob made
You sleep better knowin you gon' wake up paid
Hairstyle, nails filed, makeup made
We can shock South Beach, shake up Dade
In a droptop Phantom with the Drakov blades
I'mma stop by the barber, you can hit the shops in the harbor
Then get the chops or the lobster
Prime on 12, dinner for dos
We, begin with a toast, end with a dose
Of the light green cheeba, rolled in a Cohiba
It's Sunday, so you know the Forge is
Weather gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky
We can show the world how to be fly, yessss

[Hook]

[Fabolous]
If you want to act Hollywood fine, but shorty let's do it
When we sittin on the hills like the Hollywood Sign
And every man lies, but not every man flies
Privately to Van Nuys
Range on the runway, driver to pop doors
Straight to Barney's, somethin we need to stop for
She like, "It's early - what we gonna shop for?"
How 'bout green grass breakfast, top floor
Later on Fred C, or Max Fields
Real playa like dress, good black heels
No 'Hanas, we can do Katana's
You, me, and ooh-wee marijuana
Then slide through Hyde, might include Mood
Maybe go to Area, if it's in the area
The Friday's young, try things my way hon
Malibu ride, highway 1

[Lloyd]
Nothing is too much, everything you touch turns to gold
You make me better (you make me better)
I'm fly as I can be, but when you're with me
I can't help but notice, I'm more focused (but you're the coldest)
Girl you are so...

[Fabolous]
Ay shorty
Bring the Maybach, we got a long way to go
Just lay back, you had a long day, I know
And they wack, do it the wrong way, I know
I play back but have the song playin low
While - we six-deuce and let you fix Goose
In a glass with some ice, maybe mix some juice in
On the way to L.I., well I, coulda took the hell-eye
But we do more behind wheel
Hampton home, two floors for nine mill'
Real playa like two doors from Seinfeld
White marble, new floors that shine still
And the help keep food stored, wine chilled
Hey, you gotta live one day right (right)
Well how 'bout from Friday to Sunday night?
Then back 'fore they notice back up in Lotus
Let the world know we back and we focused~!

[Hook]

You and he been talking for a while.
So I never tried to push up be 'tween the two of us.
But soon as I saw that tear in your eye.
I only wish that I had told you that I.....

I'd do whatever girl for, for you just because.
Because I be taking this love game so serious.
I wanna show you what, it would be like with us.
I will do for you, show you, wanna do for you girl.
Just to get to know you, never to control you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.
Sometimes just to call you, when you need me there to hold you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.

I'ma stop all this playing, it's time for me (I made up my mind)
I made up my mind to get off the side-lines.
Girl I'm here to show you how much you mean.
Your tears, just say goodbye.
Baby cause I----

I'd do whatever girl for, for you just because.
Because I'd be taking this love game so serious.
I wanna showing you what, it would be like us.
I will do for you, show you, wanna do for you girl.
Just to get to know you, never to control you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.
Sometimes just to call you, when you need me there to hold you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.

Fabolous:
(Baby girl don't miss your blessing, nah don't do that.
Be back stressin', just wanna talk to you. Help you out, show you what it look like baby)

Baby girl don't cheat yourself, treat yourself.
Tryna play me, you only gon' beat yourself.
They said I clean up nice, you kinda neat yourself.
Say, somethin' missing. I can help you complete yourself.
I'm on top, and most can't reach the shelf.
You heard about me, I'm the type you want to meet yourself.
I listen, you aint gotta repeat yourself.
I'm from the hood and you grew up in the streets yourself.
It's all I wanna do for you, stylist.
So if you pull a dress, I could probably pick a shoe for ya'
Might be a lil new for ya (Might be)
But I would never sell you a dream.
You know Martin Luth for ya'
And everybody know that a queen fit a king (Yes)
I'm playing but only winners get seen with a ring.
Jeans with the wing, my rich young lady.
I'm just tryna figure out which young lady I'ma do for.

I'ma do for you, do for you like no one's ever done for you girl.
Wanna do for you, I'ma hold you down, you don't even have to say a word.
Wanna do for you, give you what you want, you know what I have for you, you deserve.
I wanna do for you, wanna do for you, wanna do for you girl.

Just to get to know you, never to control you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.
Sometimes just to call you, when you need me there to hold you.
Girl you gotta know, wanna do for you, girl.
