The Harriet Series is a rational serif family. It’s a contemporary reflection of the serifs popular in mid-20th-century American and English design. Harriet draws inspiration from both transitional faces, such as Baskerville, and modern faces, such as Century, at the same time it is unburdened by any particular historical model. The display styles give it just enough exuberance to sparkle while the diligent, sturdy text styles make it a true workhorse.

Studio Visit

If any of our Chicago readers are in the mood for a small road-trip next week, drive down to Purdue University's Patti and Rusty Rueff West Gallery to see Studio Visit. Or come down for the closing on Friday (February 17th, 2012 form 6-9pm) and stay for the evening with us! Or just follow us virtually on the Studio Visit Tumblr.

Studio Visit is a unique exhibition featuring both the works and studio practice of Chicago-based artists Stephen Eichhorn, Cody Hudson, and Chad Kouri, curated by Purdue MFA candidate Garet Martin. The exhibition will conclude with an evening lecture by the artists, as presented through generous support from the Dr. Barbara Walker Visiting Artist Series.

On Display: January 30th - February 17th, 2012

I'm super excited to announce the launch of our next 5x7 book: A painting in 31 marks, by hometown heroes, Sonnenzimmer. Here's how they described their process:

With abstract painting, decisions that lead to a completed work can seem arbitrary or, worst of all, nonconsequential. With this project, we've attempted to open up the decision making process, shedding light on both our collaborative approach and the individual choices that lead to the completion of a painting. Two people, two colors, one painting. A painting in 31 marks.

Crossing the Atlantic
