Lots of boating this month! A visit from nana and granddad, celebrating Mother's Day, and a big boy bed!

Started off the month with a quick visit to meet Baby Easton before we headed up to Virginia for the weekend.

Got to spend some time with Granny

and hang out with my friends from high school and all the kids. So fun!

When we got back, B had his last day of 2s preschool.

Todd and I went to one of my coworker's weddings

Happy Mother's Day to me!

Brooks made this cute little towel at school.

We had a gap between when our old nanny left and our new nanny was able to start so my mom came down to help out, which worked out because she got to be here for mother's day.

We took a cruise to shem creek for brunch

Mimosas with the moms!

B occupied himself at brunch with stickers. Poor sis!

The whole crew

Beautiful sunset on the boat one night

Grandad came down to go deep sea fishing. While the guys were out all day my neighbor and I took the kids to the beach. We took B to "Tall Ships Charleston". He loved looking at all the big boats.

Izzy got a stomach bug somehow. She threw up a few different times throughout the night, then a few days later I got it. It was horrible! Luckily todd and brooks managed to escape. I took this picture to send to my sister to thank her for her expert tip...when you are dealing with the stomach bug, cover everything in beach towels. That way you don't have to change the sheets 500 times a night. You just throw the towel in the wash and grab a new one. So much easier! Hopefully this is the last time I will need this trick for awhile. We are stomach bugged out around here!

Todds cousin came to visit and we took a sunset cruise.

Last morning in the crib! Such a big boy!

LOVES his big boy bed! And no trouble with the transition at all. I've heard horror stories from friends but he still sleeps great. He still lays there and waits for us to come and get him in the morning too...it's amazing!

April 2017

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Sun, 25 Jun 2017 19:34:00 +0000

Whew. April was crazy! Looking back at the pics I took I can't even believe what we managed to cram in to one month!

FINALLY got some new furniture for our playroom...we ordered from Chad and Maria's company Luonto. Beautiful stuff!

I hosted a shower for one of my girlfriends so I was super motivated to get projects done. I finally recovered the dining room chairs!

So one day I rushed home from work so I could get Brooks to swimming lessons. I got him all dressed, grabbed a change of clothes, snacks for everyone, woke Izzy up, got her dressed and ran outside with just enough time to make it to swimming--only to discover that I didn't have a carseat for Izzy 😡 We had accidentally left in the nanny's car. She was already too far gone to come back in time so I grabbed a hose and filled up bucket in the driveway. I was so afraid B would freak out but he was totally content to do this instead! I felt really bad about it but I'm learning this kind of thing just can't be avoided when you are a working mom. Somedays you just can't fit everything in!

Izzy helping me shop for the baby shower.

We escaped to the beach for about an hour after the shower. It was baby olivia's first trip to the beach!

Out for dinner with the girls!

This girl all dressed up in her peter rabbit bubble

2nd Sunday on King st

We had lunch with chanel and brynlee one day

getting geared up for Easter!

She's starting to like her baby dolls

loves going to the library and getting new books!

Easter egg hunt at church

Pandemonium! B grabbed 2 eggs and he was good to go 😂

Trying out her bikini

Celebrating Dad's birthday!

Easter bunny visited and the kids were both excited to check out their baskets. I was excited to get a picture of them in their matching Easter outfits...

umm

Yeah. Could not get them to hold still!

Luckily gram came to the rescue later with her good camera and was finally able to get some shots!

Loves using utensils now!

I took the kids on a walk one day and let B ride his big wheel. He refuses to use the pedals so we made it to the stop sign and back before he got tired out.

Our nanny sent me this one day while I was at work. Her and Izzy walked to the park almost every day while B is at preschool.

And then todd went to the phillipines for 2 WEEKS for work. Two. full. weeks. He left wed am and when I got home from work wed afternoon I was talking with the nanny and all of a sudden we heard B screaming and crying on the monitor. I ran upstairs and he had vomited everywhere, all over his bed. It was a nightmare because I was trying to sanitize everything and keep izzy away from all of it but it was impossible because I was by myself. He proceeded to be up for the rest of the night throwing up. I had him sleep with me so neither of us slept more than 2 hours. Luckily no one else ended up getting it or I don't think I would have survived. As I was going back through my pics I'm actually proud of everything I accomplished while flying solo-we conquered the stomach bug, busted lip, several outings, and I made it! (the olivia pope glass certainly helped as well)

Took B to get a haircut

Went to waterfront park for a picnic lunch and to watch the sailboats

Izzy fell walking down the hall with her sippy cup and it cut the inside of her mouth. It bled so much but she was fine thank goodness!

Our sweet neighbors had us over for dinner one night to break up the monotony!

Took the kids to the pool, then my sister booked a last minute flight and came down for the weekend with Chase to rescue me. It was great!

We took the kids to the beach.

Chase was a built in babysitter...brooks LOVES him and they had so much fun playing together.

I took this pic because I was watching him on the monitor stretching out and realized we were not going to make in in the crib for much longer. Big boy bed, coming soon!

March 2017

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Sun, 25 Jun 2017 19:09:00 +0000

Took izzy for her one year checkup. They said she looks perfect!

Wild woman

Todd had his friend Nate come over to help hang a new chandelier in the foyer. Yes, this was absolutely as dangerous as it looks. I held my breath the whole time they were up there.

in her favorite spot!

Progress on bathroom #2!

Rare night out to a country concert...it was cold but fun!

Loves llegos!

And back to being dangerous!

Spent lots of time at the park...this is brooks and his buddy--there is no bathroom at the playground so the boys just pee outside 😳

Brooks had swim lessons with Miss Erin...she guarantees your child will be swimming after 7 consecutive days of 30 min lessons. I was worried it was going to be traumatic but actually he never cried once. He LOVES swimming now!

Poor charles

Sleeping beauty 💗

This is her stink face...she pretty much uses it on any person who says hi to her. I took her to Costco the other day and the cashier was trying to talk to her and izzy gave her this face...the lady said "geez! That baby mean-muggin me" 😂 Unfortunately she mean mugs everyone right now so don't take it personally!

First cruise in awhile!

Such a good dad...soothing baby to sleep 💕

This girls summer wardrobe is 💯

Happy Birthday Isabelle!

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Sun, 25 Jun 2017 18:58:00 +0000

Izzy is 1! We had a great party to celebrate...Todd smoked some pork and we had a few friends over and put a bounce house in the backyard. She loved it!

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

February 2017

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Sun, 25 Jun 2017 18:45:00 +0000

Ugh. February was the month of illnesses for sure. I can't even really remember now (again, writing this in June) but we were at the doctor multiple times/week pretty much the whole month. There was flu, pink eye, ear infections, strep, stomach bug, you name it-we probably had it.

This boy loves "treats"

Someone has found her voice now that she is approaching 1. She is sassy and determined!

Hug/choke hold

Izzy likes to find danger wherever she can...about 2 seconds later she was standing up in this chair.

Progress continued sloooooowly in bathroom #2

Poor little thing had pink eye in both eyes

First trip to cracker barrel after yet another Lowes visit

When Izzy is tired she lets you know...

First fro yo!

Beach trip with buddies on moms day off

Back at the dr...

Practicing her party trick.."1!"

Nana came for a visit for Izzy's bday!

January 2017

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Sun, 25 Jun 2017 18:36:00 +0000

True confessions I am writing this in June so I'll be brief. We took on renovating two bathrooms this month so there were quite a few trips to lowes/home depot...Also I went back to work which is likely why there is a lack of photos from this month. I started work 4 days/week and the kids are with a nanny while I'm gone. Not as many opportunities for snapping pics :(

Beach picnic in January...can't beat that!

Trucks and trucks and trucks!

First bathroom (before)

And after!

Bathroom #2 extended into february (of course)

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Mon, 12 Dec 2016 21:00:00 +0000

**found this in my drafts, for some reason I never posted it, I'm going to post it now even though it chronologically makes no sense and I never finished it because I want to have these photos from the listing to go back to.

Well it finally happened...we moved into the house we had been trying to buy since October. We finally closed on 3/31. It was the most dramatic and unreal real estate transaction of all time according to everyone involved. I just reread that sentence and it sounds like I am being dramatic but I promise I'm not. I'm going to share some pics of the house as it was when we bought it and then show a little bit of what we have done so far because we have already been hard at work.

Dining room..look closely, those are monkeys swinging from palm trees.

Worlds largest great room with worlds smallest coffee table. and Ugliest everything.

umm...im speechless

Master bedroom

Powder room

Those are the photos that were online from the listing...as you can see, lots and lots of wallpaper.

So far, we have done a bunch of behind the scenes stuff like changing the locks and fixing a bunch of leaks etc. We also had hardwood floors installed in the great room, upstairs hallway, and master and had all the floors refinished. We pulled down the wallpaper in the powder room, dining room, foyer and upstairs hallway and have done some painting. Here are a few more pics...

Poor Todd, he came home from work one night to find that I had just started ripping off the wallpaper in the hallway. Which meant he had to bust out the 30 ft ladder and do the scary parts. We used warm water and as long as you soak it well it came off in long strips for the most part. We had to mop up TONS of water and used about 50 towels but other than that it wasn't too awful (although I wasn't the one on the ladder)

Painted the dining room

Those bushes though...TBC

3rd Birthday Party!

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Mon, 12 Dec 2016 20:58:00 +0000

We celebrated B's birthday a little early this year with a party at the firestation! It was great--the firemen were so nice to the kids and everyone had a great time! Sorry these pics are all out of order.

"fire" cupcakes with LM toppers :)

I didn't go all out this year with the crafts and the decor because we weren't having it at our house but I did appliqué this shirt for him. It took about 10 hours of my life and lots of cursing but it turned out cute ;)

The firemen had the kids line up and they showed them their gear and and how they sound through the mask. The kids were mesmerized!

Sweet sister...I attempted a clip in bow but it is literally clipped to one very small strand of hair.

Tried to get all the kids to pose on the fire truck!

Best part, they lined up some orange cones and let the kids take turn knocking them down with the fire hose! The kids loved it!

"Nan"/Gram and Nana

Pizza and cupcakes for the birthday boy! The next day we were having leftovers for lunch and he was like "I want pizza and a cupcake" and I said, ok buddy you can have a cupcake after you eat your pizza. And he was like NO! I want pizza AND a cupcake. So I reiterated, you can have one after you eat your pizza. And then he was like, NO I WANT MY CUPCAKE RIGHT BESIDE THE PIZZA!!! haha...this kid is definitely getting too smart for his own good! He is giving us a run for our money these days but I just love hearing the stuff he comes up with!

Happy Birthday buddy!!! Can't believe you are almost 3!

September 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Mon, 12 Dec 2016 20:29:00 +0000

This was a great September! We started off the month with a stay-cation out on Folly Beach. Brooks spent his first night in a big boy bed! He did really well the whole week.

Loved the beach and "ice cream treats"

This picture just sums up life right now. Lightning McQueen shirt, shorts, and a LM toy in each hand.

Nana came to the beach with us and brought Brooks a helmet and a new balance bike!

Such a fun trip!

Once we got home, Brooks started school. He is going Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesdays we have been going to the library and checking out books. He loves it!

I took this picture to show Todd. They ask that you send in extra clothes to school for when the kids have accidents. Unfortunately it took me a few times to realize that they don't change the entire outfit, just whatever part is wet. So a couple of days I picked him up looking hilarious-like this cute little shirt and some VT basketball shorts.

We went to a local place called Vintage Coffee and they have this fun truck slide so the kids can play while you eat.

This was following another playdate at the pool where Brooks almost drowned TWICE. That night he was coughing a lot and acting funny so I took him to urgent care and they did an x-ray to make sure he hadn't swallowed any water. He will definitely think twice before walking into the water without his float on again!

I spent a lot of time this month going through both kids wardrobes and getting rid of stuff that is too small and getting ready for fall. This is Izzy trying on her winter coat. I pulled out all of Brooks' stuff from last year and nothing fits anymore!

We have been going to the park in our neighborhood after nap time and meeting our neighbors there. It is so nice to have friends right down the street! Kate and Izzy are only 3 weeks apart and Brooks and Walker are in the same class at school.

October 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Mon, 12 Dec 2016 20:29:00 +0000

Happy October!

Brooks is napping about 70% of the time these days. The other 30% of the time he works on his gymnastic skills.

Todd and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary!

We put the kids to bed and went out for dinner at Langdon's.

Hurricane Matthew blew into town so we took a road trip to VA to get out of the craziness.

First time at ChuckECheese!

Granddad came down to visit too and we hit all the Roanoke hotspots, including the Mill Mntn Star.

Poor Brooks got carsick on the way home and peed his pants :( It was a rough 9 hours.

Car trips are bulldozer! (He pronounces bulldozer like bull-sider)

Digging digging all the time. He keeps begging me for a "big box of sand"

He started swim lessons and did really well!

Beautiful October beach day.

Of course we had to make a race track

The train table has now turned into a car table...

Todd and I were hippies for Halloween this year. Easiest costume ever.

We went to Myrtle Beach for our friend Tim's wedding and got to see Chad and Maria.

First time carving pumpkins for izzy and a lightning mcqueen pumpkin for B

Izzy's first Hibachi experience...she was none too thrilled with the fire.

Ready for trick or treating!

So much fun!B really got into trick or treating this year which made the whole thing way more fun for us.

Izzy 8 Months!

We went to Dad's Halloween party and showed off the strawberry costume.

Izzy 6 Months

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Fri, 30 Sep 2016 18:22:00 +0000

I expect to be able to have a lot more pictures of this sweet girl for her posts now that big brother has started back to school ;) We are going to get lots of one on one time which will be nice.

First time in the ocean!

She had so much fun exploring on our beach trip this month.

Hayyyy

Sweet little ladybug!

So...for the past couple of months Izzy has been having some issues with her stomach. Around age 3 months she just completely stopped pooping. I took her to a specialist and they recommended that we do a barium enema test to look for something called Hirschsprung's Disease. The test came back slightly abnormal so they scheduled us for a biopsy where she would have to be put under. We really really didn't want to do it and the week she was supposed to have it she started going to the bathroom again. We were still debating whether to have the test or not when Todd and I went to lunch the Thursday before. I sent him this pic when I got home lunch and we decided not to do the procedure! Since then she has started eating food and is doing really well. God is good :) Not often that you are praying for a sign and you really get a crystal clear one like this!

She makes some hilarious faces.

6 months old!!!!

the shirt speaks for itself

Her first food! Prunes, poor thing. But she loved them!

August 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Tue, 06 Sep 2016 18:38:00 +0000

Well the bad news is I pretty much spent this entire month in the bathroom, but the good news is Brooks is potty trained!! The first few days were pretty much torture but it is getting easier as time goes on. Thank goodness for a newfound obsession with Lightning McQueen that gave us lots of material for rewards and motivation.

To start the month Todd and I went to the Rockville Regatta with our neighbors for a day of relaxation.

Then first thing Sunday morning, potty training began.

He caught on pretty quickly to the chart but there were some mishaps along the way...

Playing outside with no pants. We literally did not leave the house for 5 days other than little trips to play in the driveway.

oops

Yes that is Lightning McQueen in the toilet, and yes I had to reach in and get him out.

getting there...

Potty Prizes! He got to earn these when he filled up his potty charts.

poor thing...it is SO HOT RIGHT NOW

Playdate with the neighbors.

Spent a great deal of time this month looking at this guys bottom ;)

We left Izzy with Gram one afternoon and took Brooks to the beach. He loved it!

Grandma and Papa came for a visit and took Brooks to his favorite restaurant for lunch...

He said "mommy this is the best dinner"

Meet the teacher at his new school.

We went to a concert at Shem Creek with the Sovines one night.

Lunch with daddy one day...this is a little trail across the street from his work.

First day of school! He loves his new school and walked in and never looked back. So funny because he had such a hard time last year and I was so upset leaving him every day. Now its a little sad because he could care less and actually cries when I come to pick him up most days!

Sometimes when its a rainy day we have a "special movie day" where we can eat popcorn and watch a movie. He pretty much always pics Cars or Cars 2 so he hasn't actually seen any other movies yet.

July 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Tue, 06 Sep 2016 18:25:00 +0000

We started off the month with a visit from my sister and Chase for the 4th of July.

Chase and Brooks had so much fun playing!

We took a sunset cruise one night.

Cousin love <3 We missed all the big cousins this year but hopefully next year they will make an appearance!

Brooks went to his friend Bennetts birthday party where the ice cream truck came.

Being a little bit two ;)

Spent lots of time playing outside

and playing with snapchat

Todds cousin Kenzie came to visit all the way from Germany.

and there was some more snap chatting

Nana sent Brooks a lawnmower so he could "help daddy".

more snapchatting

I GRADUATED FROM GRAD SCHOOL!!!!! They had set up this sweet celebration for me when I got home on my last day of my internship.

Then I headed to Asheville for a weekend getaway with my college friends.

Where we took lots of tiny ubers

So much fun!

This precious babe is 5 months! I feel like I am not saying much about her in these posts other than how sweet and wonderful she is but thats really all there is to say! She is a great little sleeper and just happy to be here most of the time.

Had to take her little snuggle nest out because she started rolling over in the crib. unfortunately she hasn't figured out how to roll back yet so the magic merlin made an appearance for a few weeks while she figured everything out.

June 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Tue, 06 Sep 2016 18:05:00 +0000

June was a big month around here. I completed my next to last month of working for my internship, so Brooks and Izzy were with a sitter a lot this month. I worked 7-6 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday so we squeezed everything fun we could into our long weekends!

Brooks has really started to love "helping".

Happy Fathers Day to the greatest dad around!

He really enjoys his sister's toys...

We celebrated Fathers Day by going on a boat ride.

loooves painting

I came home to the sweetest surprise on my birthday. Brooks and his sitter had made me "a muffin surprise" and they had a Mickey Mouse balloon. It was so cute!

Playdate at the pool with our neighbors. This is kate ( she is actually a few weeks younger than Izzy)

We went out with the Sovines to celebrate my bday and tried The Watch, a new restaurant downtown with really cool views of the city.

He really wanted to get in this when we got it out. He ended up staying in it for about 15 mins...I was like hey if you want to contain yourself to a confined space for that length of time, be my guest ;)

May 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Tue, 06 Sep 2016 18:02:00 +0000

May was the first time that B ever got a stomach bug and it was a doozy. He threw up for over a week and at least 30 other people that we know of also got it including everyone who was in the house with us except for me and Izzy. IT WAS HORRIble.

We made it over to my friend Jamie's to hang out at the very end of the week thinking we were finally germ free but unfortunately Jamie and Molly got sick a few days later :(

Breakfast on Mother's Day with Mom and Granny.

Todd and I headed out for a much needed date night when we got back and went to Hall's our favorite restaurant.

Pool playdate.

Last day of school. Seriously this happened in 9 months. It's so unbelievable how much he grew up this past year.

He loves school and really had fun with his teachers Ms. Paula, Ms. Noni, and Ms. Annalyle. He is going to a new school next year and it is definitely bittersweet!

Dad took off one day and we had a fun family beach day.

Where sister unfortunately got a sunburn :( and I felt like the worst mom ever!

Izzy 3 Months

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Wed, 13 Jul 2016 17:49:00 +0000

Trying on my sun hat...

First time in the jumbo...still a little wobbly!

Just hanging with my bro...

First nap in the crib!

Happy girl!

Snoozin on a boat ride...

Todd thought it would be cute to get a picture of them together every month...only we are realizing our big boy is way too big for a onesie these days. So he will be wearing clothes from now on ha.

Sweet sister is 3 months old! She is still doing awesome...sleeping really well in the rock n play so of course I had to move her into the crib to mess things up. We started on May 18th and she has done pretty well, I put a pillow under one end and rolled up a towel under the sheet so it feels a little more snug like the rock n play.

She is still the happiest sweetest baby!

April 2016

noreply@blogger.com (Todd and Megan) — Wed, 18 May 2016 19:30:00 +0000

April FLEW by! We started off the month with a fun visit from Tiggz and her sweet kids, Colt and Gray.

They had so much fun playing together one night when they all came over. This is Brynlee (Chanel's little girl), Gray, Brooks, and Colt holding Izzy.

Action shot

We went over to B's friend Stafford's house to play one day and he had the best time.

We tried a new sushi restaurant (new to us its been around forever) called Locals and the food was really good, Brooks had a great time eating his peanut butter crackers with his chopsticks.

I took this photo one afternoon when I found my poor cup of coffee that I think I had reheated like 3 or 4 times and never got to drink. This happens pretty much every single day. I am lucky and Todd usually brings me my first cup in bed every morning so I chug that before the kids get up and its a good thing because for some reason I can never quite make it through a second cup.

Todd and I snuck away to Myrtle Beach for one night to celebrate his birthday and see his two favorite bands (311 and SOJA). We had so much fun and it was a great first trip away because we were so close and really were only gone about 24 hours. This is the only picture I got and clearly I need to take a selfie class because I always look scared for some reason.

At the last minute we decided to take Brooks to the circus and I'm so glad we did because it ended up being one of the last few weeks of elephant performances! B loved it and he is still talking about it.

Last chance to see an elephant do a headstand!

We had our first pool day of the season and it was a big success...

And Izzy walked the bridge for the first time. Fun month!
