The latest event Powercom helped to further interaction and facilitate voting was just last September 21-23, 2016 at ICEME 2016 that was held in the New World Manila Bay Hotel in the capital of the Philippines with the major theme of the changing role of Evaluation in educational programs as well as transformations and Internationalizations. The event was composed of teachers, educators, basic education teachers, academics, testing personnel, researchers, and graduate students from schools all over the Philippines. Their mission is to gather recent updates and developments made on evaluation and assessment in a perspective made internationally and to be able to engage the members in a wide discussion for the latest approaches in how to assess students.

Powercom was also able to set up a booth where visitors can see a quick demo of how Powercom works and see the keypad models Powercom offers. More than 80% of the guests or participants visited the booth and most were interested to get a formal quotation to be able to use them for their classes and training's. They discovered how their classes can be interactive and how teaching methods like quizzes can be made easier and recording will be made much quicker by just generating reports in Word and Excel formats.

On day 2 - September 22, 2016, 123 Powercom PC3 keypads were used by the PEMEA members to vote for the new set of PEMEA board members. The voting was facilitated smoothly as each vote was counted in, not a single vote was lost. The event organizers were more than pleased with more voting turnout as expected. The Powercom Specialty software used was able to give more flexibility to the voting and made the transmission of votes faster and stable.

The event organizers were very much satisfied with the Powercom PC3 keypads as well as the Powercom software applied that they would highly recommend Powercom to their members. The second day ended with the recognition and awarding of the new set of board members. They were happy that the voting became automated and paperless and results were displayed immediately. Pharmaceutical Company Meeting Using PowerClick

PowerClick Audience Response Application is the latest innovation from PowerCom, an online survey application which can be used with smartphones, laptops and tablets. This can be used for any meeting, conference or surveys. It can be joined by using a browser. Basically the survey participants can log in via the web browser and answer the questions. The votes will be collected and displayed in real time at the PowerClick back server. The administrator can choose to share the voting results at the slide show format on the big screen, export the data to the PPT, Word and the Excel report.

A leading pharmaceutical company in Switzerland hired PowerCom to use PowerClick for their meeting with 250 participants or audience members. The overall meeting went well. The responses were all handled very well and no vote was lost from all the participants. Each participant’s vote were collected which was a crucial part of the event.

The PowerClick application was able to show the impressions and feelings captured and then transformed and saved into a word cloud. This was for day one. The customer also decided to go with the online server and setting up a DNS, which then redirected the participants onto the voter app login, which worked out very well. The application working with the server managed to handle all the responses of the participants very well. On Day 2, the PowerClick application was mainly used for the breakout sessions where there were four questions displayed at the same time and all participants were able to answer. At the end of the event the reports were produced in PowerPoint and Excel formats. It captured all the inputs made throughout the interactive event.

The customer was very much satisfied especially after seeing and reviewing the reports. Productivity was also seen in Day 3 and 4 as most of the inputs from the questions during the presentations were coming along swiftly and seamlessly. Then there was the question and answer portion on day 4. The client was impressed with PowerClick and said that there is great potential for PowerClick and further functions as well as more features can easily be added to it to make the user experience exceptional. PowerClick helped the meeting become interactive, fun and productive. Every participant was engaged in every presentation from start to finish especially with the latest technology using their own iPads.

HR Leadership Conference – Asean Integration organized by HR Club Philippines and Businessmaker Academy – sponsored by Iclick (Powercom’s dealer in the Philippines)

Ms. Karen Cindy M. Sajwani welcomed the participants who are mostly HR supervisors and practitioners from various organizations on the first day of the event.

On the first day an “ice breaker” question was asked which was also a fastest finger question. The first person who answered correctly was given a prize.

Here is one example of what was asked: “Does your company conduct job evaluation prior to developing or revising your company’s salary structure? - The participants were made to choose a single answer among the following choices:

Another example of what was asked was a weight priority question type: What metrics does your company use to determine employee’s performance? The audience was made to choose their top 3 answers.

The participants used the RF1 Wireless Voting System to select single answers, multiple answers and answers with their top 3 preference.

On the third day, the last question’s results were shown to the audience at the end of the session. It was a burning question. The audience was able to view the results on the large projector.

At the end of the year many people decide to travel for various reasons, such as: going on vacation, visiting family or friends out-of-town, and more. Sometimes in the rush of getting ready to leave simple things may be overlooked or forgotten. Take a look at these 5 Tips to get ready to go out of town for the holidays.

5 Holiday Preparation Tips

Mail Hold – the U.S. Postal service gives you the feature to be able to place your mail on a temporary hold. This is especially important if you will be gone for a few days. Mail piling up may be a sign to people that you’re out of town and thieves may try to break in to your home.

This is what the U.S. Post office website says,

“…If you’re going away for a while, take advantage of our Request Hold Mail service. We’ll keep your mail safely at your local Post Office™ until you return…”

Timer – if you don’t already have a timer you will want to stop by a hardware store (some grocers sale these also) and purchase one. Before you leave town make sure you have several lights hooked up to the timer in order to turn lights on and off at set periods of time during the day. This will give the impression that someone is in your home turning on and off the lights.

Social Media hold – although going out on a long awaited vacation may be very pleasing and you’d like very much to share with as many people as you can the joy you’re experiencing through Tweets, Facebook posts, Tumblr, etc you may want to hold off. People can easily access personal information (friends and non-friends) by utilizing those platforms or search engines. If you broadcast you’re going to be out of town it tells the world that you will not be home and someone may be tempted to break into your home.

Pack appropriately – If you live somewhere that gets cold during this time of year and you’re headed somewhere with warm weather via a road trip don’t forget these items:

· Warm clothes

· Blanket

· Shovel

· Something to produce traction

It’s better to be prepared in case your vehicle breaks down on the way to your vacation destination.

Secure your home – before you head out, make sure to do these things:

· Check that all of your windows are locked.

· Set your timer (testing it out prior to leaving is helpful –especially if you’re new at using one).

· Turn off your phone ringer or lower the volume of an answering machine (if your lights are on but no one answers the phone this may signal burglars that you’re not home).

· Lower your thermostat (but not to the point that your pipes will freeze).

· Make sure appliances are turned off.

· If you have an alarm system make sure that it’s set.

· Lock the doors.

Travelling by Airplane this Thanksgiving week?

If you will be travelling by air please follow these precautions for the safety of you and other passengers.

Check prohibitions of carry-ons - the TSA website says:

“For the safety and security of the traveling public, TSA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or airlines have prohibited certain items from being brought onto airplanes in carry-on and/or checked bags. To help you plan ahead and avoid the potential of additional screening, be sure to check out the prohibited items list below and pack accordingly.”

· Pack antibacterial wipes – you can use these to kill germs.

· Check Luggage weight – stick within the airlines baggage allowance in order to reduce any unnecessary delays or costs that may be incurred.

Before you fly you need to know this

Are you sick? If you have symptoms of Ebola virus the airline may have a right to deny your right of boarding the plane. This is what the CDC (Center for Disease Control) says:

“…A U.S. Department of Transportation rule permits airlines to deny boarding to air travelers with serious contagious diseases that could spread during flight, including travelers with possible Ebola symptoms…”

Once onboard Safety Tips

· Follow the rules – the airlines have rules to ensure a safe travel as possible, for everyone on board. By breaking the rules you could put yourself or others at risk of injury or worse.

· Clean your seat – You can use antibacterial wipes to wipe down your seat, armrests, etc to kill any germs that may have been left behind by the cleaning crew.

· Cover your mouth – if you are going to sneeze use a tissue to cover your mouth. If you cough cover your mouth. Clean your hands afterwards in order to prevent germs from spreading.

· Stay hydrated – the air in the airplane is dry so, it’s important to drink plenty of water.

Road Trip Safety Tips

People will be travelling a lot this holiday and many will be driving near and others far.

Before you get on the road

· Check your Battery – batteries can lose their charge in cold weather.

· Get gas –it’s important to make sure you have enough gas because in some areas gas stations are far apart. If you live in or will be travelling in cold weather, remember vehicles typically use more gas because of warming up the car before driving.

Check your tires – make sure your tires are properly inflated in order to get more traction.

Pack these items before your road travel in the winter

· Changing tire essentials – make sure you have a spare tire, jack (that you can use) and a tire iron with you. If you get a flat tire you will need these things to get back on the road.

· Snow Shovel – if you live in or will be travelling to colder climate bring a snow shovel. You can use this to dig your car out of a ditch (if you get off the road) or to unblock your car that may get snowed in.

· Windshield wiper fluid – you want to make sure your car has the appropriate type. If the temperature drops to freezing some windshield wiper fluids will freeze and not spray. Therefore, if you will be travelling in freezing temperatures choose the one made for the cold weather.

· Traction aids – it’s important to pack something that can give you traction in case you get stuck on something slippery. This may include: salt, sand, cat litter, etc.

· Blankets and extra clothing – if your vehicle stops working you can use these items to help keep you and those travelling with you warm, while you wait for help to arrive.

· Flares – you can use a flare to signal you need help if your vehicle breaks down.

It was an event where Governmental challenges were discussed. National experts gave their viewpoint of the energy status and international projects were considered as possible solutions to Haiti’s plan to make energy available throughout the country.

Powercom electrifies the Haiti Rural Energy Forum

Haiti Rural Energy Forum November 24 & 25, 2014 held at Hotel Oasis, Port-au-Prince

Forum hosted by Government of Haiti.

IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), World Bank Group and Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) Supports this event.

Event organized by New Energy Event, LLC.

Jacques Rousseau Haiti Minister of Public Works, Transport, Energy & Communications begins the forum with welcoming remarks.

At the beginning of each session an opinion poll was taken.

Here is one example of what was asked: ‘What are the lessons learned from the Rural Electrification Projects in Haiti?’ Those in attendance were asked to rank the sequence of government roles, such as:

1. Create an enabling regulatory framework (import duties exemptions, simple licensing of village grid operators, etc.)

2. Develop a National Electrification Strategy / Plan.

3. Seek financing to facilitate rural energy projects.

4. Create a new institution in charge of rural energy.

5. Extend the grid.

The event coordinators were able to use a special software to ensure a quick voting process.

The software Powercom uses for mock jury’s is called Moment to Moment because it provides feedback from jurors moment to moment on a half second by half a second basis by using a wireless keypad or clicker that has a sliding bar from 1 to 100.
The best type of clicker for Moment to Moment is the Ativa wireless keypad. The jurors’ feedback can be viewed in real time by the client management team question by question with jury photos. In addition to being able to view the juror’s feedback real time, the voting results can be hosted on a website with real time updates; it provides a real time display of moment to moment line charts with video overlay for jury deliberations with configurable line colors, thickness and time scale. It can also demonstrate a histogram.

Powercom also provides a web event hosting for all reports and video, and gives the ability to generate different reports like Video Vote Playback, CSV, SMS, Excel and Word summary reports with charts for further analyses. Any feature of the software can be customized per our client’s request.
