Don't you just hate it when you're hit with writers block when it comes to writing a dating profile?

I know I do. It affects everyone, so don't feel bad.

You want to make a good impression, sound attractive and also attract the right kind of dates, but how do you do this without sounding cheesy or creepy?

It's easy, you just have to follow a few ground rules and you'll be able to create a great dating profile that shows you off in your best light.

The key to a great dating profile is to be truthful, enthusiastic and create an air of sexiness and mystery. You want to reveal enough to entice dates, but not too much that you give the game away.

Why is it so important to write a good dating profile?

Well, a dating profile is like an advertisement for YOU. It has to look good, sound good and deliver the goods. You wouldn't buy a perfume that said,

Nice smell, your partner will like it, don't wear too much or it'll reek

So why would you write a bland, unimaginative profile? Human beings are fickle. They will make a decision on whether they like some one within seconds of meeting them, or reading their dating profile. You don't want to scare anyone off or bore them to tears either. People want a hint of mystery, sexiness, excitement and the promise of things to come. You can offer all these in a brief profile believe it or not!

Here are my tips on how to create that Masterpiece:

Write down all your attributes and make a list. Are you funny, handsome, pretty, daring, religious, sporty, vegetarian?

What are your physical attributes? short, tall, fat, skinny, great complexion, thick hair

What are your passions? Skiing, mountain biking, English Literature, Charity work, blogging?

What are you looking for in a partner? Be honest. Do you want them to be sexually adventurous, intellectual, entrepreneurial, altruistic?

What are Deal Makers? A shared love of Film Noir, Caring for the Elderly, Swinging?

What are Deal Breakers? Smoking, drugs, alcohol, sports, Body Type?

What kind of Relationship are you looking for? Serious, Casual, Sexual (This is VERY IMPORTANT)

What's your dating history? Serial Monogamist, Flirt, Open relationships?

Who are you emotionally? Supportive, Romantic, Impulsive, Stubborn, Monogamous?

Once you've started to compile answers to those questions, you'll start to see a picture appear of your ideal profile.

You always want to be honest, but you don't want to paint a negative picture, after all, you are trying to sell yourself here!

Create a profile that is appealing, attractive, and intriguing and you'll strike the right balance of attracting your ideal mate and having a good old time.

Dear Power Dating Girl,

I know this guy thru some friends. He's cute, funny and he keeps asking me out to dinner. The problem is he has this awful habit of scratching his unmentionables in public. If I had a dollar for every guy that scratched his balls, I'd be a very rich woman indeed. In fact Oprah would be scared of me! You have a classic case of 'Big Boy Ball Buffin'. This just means that most guys at some point can't resist readjusting their crown jewels. I don't know why they do it, they just do. It could be legitimate readjusting, some nasty creatures having a party in his underpants, or it could be leftover from childhood (you know checkin it's still there every 5 minutes).

If this guy is ok in every other way and you still like him, this is what you do...

Gently pull him aside and whisper "I really do want to go out with you, but my mama always said 'Jane, always wear clean panties, just in case you're ever in a car accident'.

Now that has nothing to do with your problem, but it's good advice none the less.

You're going to have to tell him straight in your own genteel way that if he wants to hang with you, he has to let go of his meat and two veg once and for all..

Very rarely do you come across a film that moves you.

That encapsulates everything you think and feel about love and passion and romance.

Cinema Paradiso is such a film. I first saw this many years ago and was so moved by the intensity and feeling conveyed that the memory of it stayed with me. I recently watched it again and it is as fresh now as it was then. I have to say it's up there as one of my favourite movies of all time.

It's not a love story in the conventional sense, yet it is full of love. It's absolutely worth watching just for the last scene alone. I dare you to watch it and not shed a tear...

A Womans' Do's and Don'ts of Online Dating

Us ladies are so eager to get to know a man online that we sometimes forget the Number One Rule of Dating - Don't Be Too Eager!

Of course you can be interested, passionate and involved, but there's a line you must not cross if you want to see any success with the guy on the other line. Unfortunately for us emotionally involved women, many men find it a turn off if you want to put the relationship into fast-forward.

Here are some Golden Rules to stick to when you're just getting to know each other:

- While chatting online or by email do not write your life story. His eyes will glaze over and he'll fall asleep. Keep it short and sweet until he asks for details, then provide them slowly and only answer the questions he asks. Besides, you want to keep a bit of mystery. Keep him wanting more.

For instance: If he asks how many siblings you have, he is NOT asking for the details of your interaction with them. He really just wants to know how many you have. Say you have 2 (or whatever is true) and then ask how many he has. For every question he asks you, you should ask one of him.

- Never, ever, EVER lie. Lies always will catch up with you sooner or later. Many women (and men) lie about their age, marital status, employment, height, weight and a host of other things in their online profiles. That is a huge mistake. If you find a man who you are really interested in, he will find out you lied and there goes any possibility of the relationship progressing. So, just be honest. There is someone out there who will like you, even come to love you for exactly the person you are.

- Don't be too eager. It makes you look desperate and it really puts a man off. They are first and foremost conquerors and if getting the person of their desires to like them too is just too easy, they will quickly lose interest. I don't mean play hard-to-get. I mean, don't push for a face-to-face meeting. Don't email them or IM them too frequently. Play it safe and play it cool.

Don't forget to keep some mystery. It's better to keep a man wanting more, than to overload him with either too much information or too many emotional demands.

Dating is not a race, but more of a leisurely walk. Enjoy every moment of it.
