<p>In Europe, in 2006, an estimated 3,000,000 people were diagnosed and over 1,500,000 people died from this disease.</p>
<p>There is, as yet, no complete cure for cancer, but more and more research has revealed that a good lifestyle can help to reduce the statistics.<span id="more-304"></span></p>
<p>The no. 1 enemy of cancer is  eating a balanced diet which contains certain recommended vegetables.</p>
<p>We are all aware of  government advice to consume 5 portions of fruit and veg per day.</p>
<p>However, the following 3 are known as a super veg in the war against cancer.</p>

<li>Cauliflower</li>
</ul>

<li> Cabbage</li>
</ul>

<li> Broccoli</li>
</ul>
<p>They each contain a chemical component called indole-3-carbinol that can combat breast cancer by converting a cancer promoting estrogen into a more protective variety.</p>
<p>Broccoli has the phytochemical sulforaphane, a product of glucoraphanin, believed to help protect against some types of cancer, including colon and rectal cancer.</p>
<p>Sulporaphane induces the production of certain enzymes that can activate <a title="free radicals" href="http://nutrition.hotexercise.com/power-foods/eating-fruit/">free radicals</a> and carcinogens. The enzymes have been shown to inhibit the growth of tumours in laboratory animals.</p>
<p>By adding these super veg to your diet you may significantly reduce the risk of contracting this dreaded disease.</p>
