There are positives about 10th Congressional District State Central Committeeman Mark Shaw.

First of all he founded his own law firm in 1995 after completing his education as a pharmacist and working in that field at the start of his career. See Shaw’s impressive resume from his web site here.

Secondly, Shaw has been responsive to e-mails and calls from constituents regarding his appointed service on the State Central Committee.

Third, Shaw was willing to sign a letter calling on a special meeting of the SCC to deal with Pat Brady’s insubordination, and divergence from the Republican Party platform.

However there are two specific reasons why I am calling for Shaw to removed from consideration for IL State Party Republican Chairman.

One, was his role surrounding his appointment last summer as the Republican nominee for the 58th State Representative District. Shaw was Campaign Manager of a bitter primary battle between his candidate, Lauren Turelli, and Dr. Mark Neerhof. Turelli prevailed, but was resigned after controversy about inflating her education credentials. Here is an article by respected conservative writer Nancy J. Thorner on this issue…

3rd Congressional District Committeeman Angel Garcia is the next candidate I recommend for removal from consideration for the Illinois Republican Party Chairman post.

Garcia has shown little respect for the Illinois Republican Party platform, taking demonstrable actions against it over and over again. He has been a leading ally of radicals who back open borders with Mexico. In fact, April 20, 2011 the Illinois Review published the following article about a group called “Immigration PAC” where left wing Democrat Congressman Luis Gutierrez was Honorary Chairman, and Cook Democrat Party Chairman Joe Berrios and Angel Garcia served together on the PAC Board of Directors.

As 3rd Congressional District Committeeman, Garcia inserted himself into the March, 2012 Republican primary to back Jim Falvey, a moderate with multiple Democrat primary votes, against a strong, dedicated Republican local activist named Richard Grabowski. Despite being badly outspent by the wealthy Falvey, Grabowski won this primary in a landslide 20,536 to 10,287. Here is the press release from the Falvey campaign that actually credits Garcia for getting Falvey into the primary in the first place. It is not an appropriate role of a party leader to force divisive primaries and then take the side of the candidate less committed to the Republican party platform….

-By Lennie Jarratt, ChampionNews.net

Since the IRS scandal broke it is clear that the government knows no bounds in how it can politically go after it’s opponents. Given my recent experience with the bank account for my Political PAC being closed, I have to wonder if the government is also using banks to go after Conservatives.

I started a non-partisan group in March of 2012, For Our Children’s Future. It’s mission is as follows:

Recruit, train and help candidates who will bring fiscal sustainability and integrity to their elected office while maintaining a social safety net for those truly in need

Empower parents to ensure their children are not trapped in failing schools

Fight the efforts that limit taxpayer rights by forcing property owners to do their own tax appeals or hire a lawyer

In February 2013, I started a Political Action Committee to help fulfill our mission and opened a bank account. Our bank account was closed without notification at the end of April. I only found out it had been closed when a check I had donated to a candidate could not be cashed. You can view the timeline below for more detailed information on the closing…

The very last thing that the Illinois Republican Party needs is to turn over the reins of the Republican Party to a full time lobbyist who has given large amounts of money to Democrat Party candidates and with a questionable record on ethics dating back to 1994. Doug Ibendahl’s Republican News Watch site has done a thorough job of researching and writing about John “Jack” Dorgan, going back to his service in the corrupt Lee Daniels/George Ryan campaign organization of 1994. The results of a Federal corruption probe resulted in the jailing of Daniels’ staffer Mike Tristano, and Daniels himself had to raise and spend some $1 million in legal fees to avoid conviction as well. Current State Central Committeeman Jerry Clarke, of the 15th District, escaped conviction by testifying against his boss, Tristano….

The IRS protests in Downers Grove had between 175 and 200 people in attendance (Pictures below). The event was held at the corner of Esplanade and Butterfield Dr. since that was busier than directly in front of the IRS offices. Several police were there to direct traffic. What surprised many was a Homeland Security vehicle came past the protest twice. As you can see from the picture, the vehicle had tinted windows so we are unsure if there were any cameras inside. Were pictures taken of the attendees? Will any of the attendees now be further targeted by the IRS or Homeland Security?

-By Warner Todd Huston

<img border="0" style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 10px; float: left;"src="http://www.prairiestatereport.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/pension_crisis.jpg" alt="" />Over at his excellent McHenry County Blog, Cal Skinner has a good reminder of just who is in large part responsible for the pension mess in the State of Illinois. The teachers unions was one of the biggest contributors to that mess.

Skinner plays off a recent Southtown article by Phil Kadner in which Kadner talks about the massive tax hikes that Democrat House Leader Michael Madigan wants to help “fix” the pension mess.

Skinner reminds Kadner of one of the reasons this mess happened in the first place.

Phil Kadner writes, “You paid tax money to fund the pensions. But your elected leaders chose to spend the money on something else.”

The Illinois State Capitol where Democrats plan to shift teacher pension costs to local school districts, which will raise property taxes.

But he leaves out who encouraged the legislators to spend the money elsewhere. It was the teacher union lobbyists.

When I was looking at budgets, there was a section for education.

It was divided into three parts:
1). k through 12
2). universities
3). pensions

The pressure was always to increase State Aid to Education.

The reasoning (not stated publicly, I dare say) was that with higher financial assistance, teacher salaries could be raised, which, in turn, would increase teach pensions.

Kadner points out that as all this stuff (that Skinner reminds us of) was going on, the politicians OKaying this mess did so knowing full well they’d be long out of office by the time the mess really hit the fan.

That fan is running at full speed as we speak…

<img border="0" style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 10px; float: right;"src="http://www.prairiestatereport.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/robert_dold.png" alt="" />Robert Dold ran for Congress for the 10th District in 2010 and won. He took the seat vacated by Mark Kirk when Kirk moved to the Senate. After his first term, though, he lost his bid for re-election losing to Democrat Brad Schneider in a tough election.

Now, Dold has announced that he’ll make an attempt to re-capture his seat in the upcoming 2014 election cycle.(Edit to change date. I absent mindedly hat 2016 here before)

Here is the text of his announcement:

I ran for Congress just a few years ago because I felt a call to serve the 10th District, and you sent me to Washington, DC to do just that. Together, we provided what so many say our country is missing right now – thoughtful leadership that was able to build bridges between parties, and put people before politics and progress ahead of partisanship. We succeeded in changing the dialogue to focus on getting our government on a budget and solving the biggest issues we face as a nation.

As someone who broke the mold and earned a reputation as one of the most independent-thinking, moderate members of Congress, and as someone who was never afraid to work with anybody who shared a desire to solve problems, I share your frustration with the current lack of compromise and the consistent stalemate in Washington.

Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with many of you about the problems you are facing in your businesses, in your households, and in your communities. You have encouraged me to carry your voice forward in 2014.

With deep reflection, and strong support from you, Danielle and our kids, my family and friends, I wanted to share with you first that I’ve made the decision to step forward and run in 2014 to represent the 10th District of Illinois.

I want to personally thank you for your continued encouragement. Running for office is never an easy decision for any candidate or their families, but this decision is much larger than my family and I; it is about serving our community and country.

I hope you will join me as we lay out our vision, together, for a more prosperous 10th District.

From William J. Kelly…

<img border="0" style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 10px; float: left;"src="http://www.prairiestatereport.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/patbrady_large.jpg" alt="" />Let me be the first to congratulate all GOP voters and activists for their help in pressuring GOP chairman Pat Brady to resign. We did it! And, we did it together.

READ MY OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT ON BRADY’S RESIGNATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY IT PRESENTS TO UNITE THE GOP.

It has been interesting to see what “Republican leaders” failed to take a stand on Brady. Republican activists should take note of who stood mute on the sidelines while rank-and-file Republicans put themselves on the line.

A heartfelt thank you to every person who showed up our protest rally at the State Central Committee in Tinley Park on April 13th to rally against GOP Chairman Pat Brady.

This was the final nail in the coffin. Brady showed his true mean-spirited colors that day. Calling the police on rank-and-file Republicans – including grandmas in wheelchairs and walkers – is about as low as you can get. But people needed to see how the GOP establishment treats everyday Republicans with their own eyes. They did.

Brady’s termination has been a long time coming. The media have tried to make the controversy over Brady about one issue and one issue alone. It is in their interest to create the false narrative of a Republican Party that is out-of-touch. But Pat Brady has been a study in failure, self-interest, and division for years. His sorry brand of political leadership and self-interest has divided the party and, consequently, weakened it. His weak leadership is the reason Republicans have failed.

The Republican Party cannot win elections if its leader attacks conservative candidates behind-the-scenes to destroy them – not just defeat them. Or props up his own candidates as Brady regularly did. His repeat election failures and loss of statewide remap control has put the Illinois Republican Party in a terrible position. Now we need to undo the damage and getting rid of Pat Brady was the first step.

This is an opportunity for a new beginning. It is a great victory – the chance to build a real Republican Party in Illinois. But make no mistake about it – this is just the beginning. We will rebuild – just like Chicago needed to rebuild after the Chicago Fire.

But the new Republican Party has to have a better foundation than it has had before. It was a corrupt insider process that appointed Brady in the first place. Cronies for Andy McKenna and corrupt Blagojevich pal Bob Kjellander tapped Brady to begin with.

These are not the kind of people that should be running the Illinois Republican Party. This is what regular Republicans need to change.

We need to demand an open transparent process to appoint a new GOP party chairman and choose a reform slate of candidates. We cannot allow insiders to choose a new chairman who is just as bad or worse than Pat Brady. This is the time put pressure on the State Central Committee to open up the process and allow all candidates to present their credentials.

Again, congratulations Republicans. Now let real reform begin!

Regards,
William J. Kelly
