<p>Here are the deets:</p>
<p>Bloggers and PR agencies often struggle with how to best work together and build trust. Crosby will discuss how bloggers can better navigate their interactions with PR companies, including accepting samples, disclosure/transparency, responding to pitches and perceived pressure to give positive reviews. In addition, she will respond to questions from beauty bloggers who call in during the show. </p>
<p>This marks Crosby&#8217;s second time as a guest on the program. <h2><strong><span style="color: #ff00ff;">Fashion PR Tips: Grabbing the attention of the fashion media</span></strong></h2>
<p>The adage about first impressions is perhaps most true when dealing with the fashion media since most often, Fashion editors and bloggers will be Heidi Klumming your line, that is, deciding if you are in or out, based on the initial press materials that you send them. With one-dimensional materials promoting garments and passions with decidedly more dimensions, your press materials, mainly the background information you send about your collection and the photography, had better be good.  Here, some tips on cutting through the clutter</p>
<ul>
<li>Press release folder blah blah. Think about your packaging – everything from the envelope your materials arrive in, to the size and shape of your press release should evoke the feeling of your brand. Little handmade touches, ribbon, a handwritten card, go a long way, creating a flip book of images can really make a difference in getting an editor’s attention.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> If you are sending an email, include a link to your press kit as a downloadable PDF, as well as links to individual hi-res photos. There is nothing more irritating for an editor, bloggers included, than unnecessary follow-up and tracking down images. Make it as easy as possible for the media to write about you by giving them everything they need ahead of time.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Don’t skimp of your photography. If you have any questions about how to do fashion photography correctly, look at f<a title="fashion pr blog" href="http://community.livejournal.com/foto_decadent/" target="_blank">ashion photography blogs</a>. Or, check out the <a title="fashion marketing photography" href="(http://www.smashingdarling.com/blog/)" target="_blank">Smashing Darling blog</a>, where indie designers put their photography and online stores up on the chopping block for review.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Above all, make consistency and accuracy your motto. Colors, fonts, wording, contact information should match and be correct. If you aren’t the most detail oriented person, ask a friend who is to over everything with you to make sure than your email address, among other things, is correct.</li>

The Art Institutes has announced its 2009 Passion for Fashion Competition. Open to high school seniors throughout the U.S. and Canada, it gives North American high school students an opportunity to earn a full tuition scholarship to study in a fashion program at one of The Art Institutes schools.</p>
<p>The competition consists of two categories, Fashion Design, and Fashion Marketing &#038; Merchandising and Retail Management. The grand prize in each category includes a full tuition scholarship The Art Institutes school.</p>
<p>In addition to a full tuition scholarship, the grand prize winning student in each category will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City for Fashion Week in February 2009, a &#8220;meet and greet&#8221; at Seventeen Magazine&#8217;s offices and lunch with a Seventeen Magazine Style Pro.</p>
<p>The deadline isn&#8217;t until November 21, 2008 so there is plenty of time to prepare! <p>In case you have been living in a place where Crocs are considered chic, Coutorture is an online publication and community of over 250 editorially-selected fashion, beauty, perfume, accessory and streetwear blogs. During fashion week, the Coutorure team is hard at work to provide relevant, quick and generally awesome ccontent (think images, video) to their global network of bloggers who then use/share said greatness to keep the Fashion Week crazy wheel a&#8217;spinnin&#8217;.</p>
<p>What does being a Coutorture intern mean? There&#8217;s the unglamorous stuff like assisting, sample running and photo uploading.  However, for the right interns, there is the opportunity to assist with Fashion Week coverage and content for the site. Plus, fashion stylists, photographers, make-up artists, and publicists may get to assist on original Coutorture editorial photo shoots.</p>
