I scoured the internet for some free online birth videos and here is what I found.

Due to Google’s restrictions, I cannot embed the natural childbirth videos on this page.

Natural Childbirth Video 1: A Typical Hospital Birth

Watch the video on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOkOhvhi24U

In this childbirth video, the pregnant woman is lying down on her back on a hospital bed. This is the most common way of giving birth. If you don’t really like being in a place you don’t like and having a bunch of strangers telling you what to do during labor, just take a look at the other videos to see if they appeal to you or not.

Natural Childbirth Video 2: Water Birth

Search on Youtube.com for “water births” to see a variety of videos on water births.

This is an alternative way of giving birth and some say water births are more natural and beneficial for both the baby and the mother.

In a typical water birth, the mother seems to be in a squatting position in the tub of water. Squatting in water during labor is much easier than squatting outside of it and this position is much better than the lying down position.

The pregnant women usually do not require anyone to help her pull out her baby. The baby will come straight out and float to the surface in like 1 or 2 seconds. It is advisable to hire a midwife to help the mother ensure a smooth delivery.

Unlike typical hospital childbirths, there is no rush to cut the baby’s umbilical cord during water births. They did the right thing of allowing the mother to bond with the baby first. There is very little risk of the baby drowning because they don’t breath through their lungs at birth. The water in the tubs cleanses the baby’s body therefore you do not need to grab a towel to clean up like you do during a traditional vaginal birth. You can get a water birth done at home with the help of a certified midwife or at specialized birthing centers.

Natural Childbirth Video 3: Birth As We Know It Trailer

The last video is a 10 minute trailer of the award winning film Birth As We Know It. The author seems to be promoting a more loving and conscious way of giving birth instead of the cold and unloving process of cesarean and other types of childbirth. She recommends the use of water births with a twist. There are circular hip motion exercises during labor to reduce the pain and she claims that you may even turn the pain into pleasure. What that means for you is a painless and pleasurable birth!

The author also claims that if you give birth to children in a more loving way, you will enable your kids to have a healthier head start in life with a clearer frame of mind without any subconscious trauma that was implanted into their psyches during birth. In this video, you will see a short clip of a caesarean childbirth. Notice how it was done in a cold and almost robotic manner without any love. Compare that with the woman who gave birth in the video, which one seems like a better option for you?

Natural Childbirth Video 4: The Ryan Family Birth at the Baby Place

This video is the birth experience of the Ryan family at the Baby Place birthing center. It is like a mini-documentary of their childbirth and why they choose the Baby Place to have a safe, sensitive and satisfying birth.

Conclusion

Now that you understand what childbirth is all about, which method do you think is the best for you? Take your time to make that important decision and I hope you have a wonderful childbirth!

Your Pregnancy Journey

Why is pregnancy the eighth wonder of the world is a question that only a mother can answer. Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful creative processes and yet a great mystery. Imagine the “9 month”- long road that the baby has to pass from the moment he is only a small cell until he becomes a child in flesh and blood. From this point of view any mother is an artist. But the creation of beauty comes at a price, the baby needs special care from the moment he is conceived until he leaves his nest. His road is extremely complicated, but fascinating and complex. As a pregnant woman it can become extremely difficult at times to cope with the rapid changes that are going on and to understand how much this process affects one’s life.

Pregnancy is usually divided into three trimesters, each lasting approximately three months. Each one of them comes with its unique challenges and requires special attention: The first stage consists in a major shift in hormone balance and physical changes and it is the stage where the child is most vulnerable, the second stage is the calmest as the body adapts and the child accustoms with his or hers surroundings and finally the third stage is the most strenuous for the mother as delivery is approaching. Each trimester is covered in detail in the articles here.

Why You Need To Know All About Pregnancy

You have to understand that pregnancy is an absolutely normal and natural phenomenon and you can continue your regular activities during the 9 months period if you take the right cautions. Consider yourself a healthy woman, but in a special condition, which imposes a more careful way of life. This site is here to offer you assistance, to make you understand that you are now a privileged woman. It is very important though for you to have a medical supervisor, that can monitor you on a regular and efficient basis. Try not to be scared, there are thousands of pregnant women in the whole world at this moment. And yes, everything will be alright, as long as you respect the prescriptions you’ve been given ( have a proper diet, avoid alcohol and cigarettes, wear comfy clothes). This resource center was set up especially for women like you, so don’t hesitate to read on, to inform yourself and understand what pregnancy is al about.

Be Cautious But Enjoy Your Motherhood

Enjoy these nine months, accept the changes your body goes thru, talk to your baby and prepare for literally giving sense to the “Miracle of Birth”. Giving sense or acquiring a taste of purpose towards your experience is most of the time enough for a woman to accommodate into her experience as a mother. This is why it is for the best that you read and understand how to take care of you and your baby, what happens in these 9 months and what you can do to keep things on track and avoid problems. Our site, despite its complexity and quite extensive coverage is only the starting point. Inform yourself as best as possible and afterwards act on this information after consulting with your doctor. It is not easy to have and raise a child, but is definitely the most extraordinary thing in the world.

My web host gave me loads of problems in the past 2 days. Firstly, they claimed my personal IP address was banned from visiting my own web site. I found out that was untrue as my friend could not access this web site too.

Then they told me my web site was hacked! What the hell? Who would want to hack my pregnancy site? Furthermore, I could not FTP to my own site. It took them 2 days to finally let me FTP my files back to the server. Thankfully I could restore the web site from my personal backups instead of my web host’s backups, which could mean goodbye to my web site if I didn’t backup the database and files myself. Their support is sooooooooo terrible you wouldn’t believe it!

I just updated my WordPress version to the latest 2.3.1 build. I hope that will stop the hacker from hacking in again, if there really is a hacker involved in this. I guess it is time to move to a new web host. MadRooster, my current web host is getting from bad to worse!

I hope someone sees this blog post. Here’s my MadRooster hosting review:

Terrible support - They take almost a day to reply and when they do, it is usually vague and does not help. I tried to reply to their vague reply and they take another day to replay with another vague reply. Oh yeah.. They just quit taking telephone calls. I wonder if their support team has been outsourced to lousy freelancers who know nothing about running web servers.

They were good for almost 2 years for me. Then they started going downhill. Stay away from them!

Believe it or not, the end of your pregnancy is near, and even though it may feel like forever, you actually only have seven more weeks to go. When you are in week 34 of pregnancy, your baby weighs in at about five pounds, which means things are probably feeling pretty snug. More than likely your baby is already getting into the fetal position as well to get ready for delivery in a few weeks.

While your baby is getting ready for delivery, more than likely you are feeling more and more exhausted as time goes along. Fatigue is extremely common around this time of your pregnancy, and aches, pains, weight gain, and even anxiety can be contributing to this feeling. During week 34 of pregnancy and probably throughout the rest of your pregnancy you are going to want to start taking a few more naps. Getting enough rest is important and you definitely do not want to rely on caffeine to stay awake, since too much can actually be harmful to your baby. So, take the extra naps and keep the caffeine to a minimum.

As you go into week 34 of pregnancy, you will probably begin to notice that you are dealing with more swelling as well. While you probably have dealt with some swelling throughout your pregnancy, many women notice that it gets even worse around this time. Be sure that you drink plenty of water during this stage of pregnancy. Also, keeping your feet elevated as much as possible can also help with the fluid retention problem too.

Throughout your pregnancy and especially towards the end of your pregnancy, it is extremely important that you get plenty of calcium. Your baby will be taking calcium from you to help in the development of his bones, so you need to be sure that you have plenty. Eating foods that have a calcium in them is important, and you may even want to purchase a supplement that will provide you with extra calcium as well. If you are not sure about which supplement to take, you may want to consult your obstetrician for advice.

Various aches and pains, such as pelvic pain, back pain, sore ribs, and even Braxton Hicks contractions are quite common during week 34 of pregnancy. Usually, there is not much that you can do to help these aches and pains; however, rest can definitely be helpful. While staying active during pregnancy is a great idea, as you get closer and closer to delivery you may need to cut back a bit on your activity. If your back is one of the worst problems, consider purchasing a special pillow or support belt to help ease the pressure off of your back.

Just a few more weeks to go and all of this will be over, even if it does not feel like it. Be sure to eat right and get plenty of rest during week 34 of pregnancy. You want to keep healthy and ensure that you keep your strength up so you can have a healthy delivery in a few weeks.

While it was comforting to hear your spouse vow to be there for you “in sickness and in health” at the beginning of your life together, there are some trials in life that will definitely test these vows. Infertility is such a problem, as it not just a physical condition, it has many disturbing emotional implications. It brings a sense of helplessness, that may branch out to guilt, resentment and anxiety and may get even worse as you undergo treatment or sign up for in vitro fertilization, or IVF. This is why any infertility treatment should include counseling in emotional aspects, as well.

Counseling for infertility is for both husband and wife, to keep their relationship smooth and their communication lines open during this difficult period. It may even begin from diagnosis, as investigating infertility is already a distressing process. Even if only one of the couple starts out with a negative attitude towards the infertility diagnosis, the other will eventually be affected as the burden of infertility necessarily overcomes both partners. Getting counseling for infertility will address the issues between the couple, prevent them from blaming and resenting each other, and illuminate points wherein each spouse can further help in fertility treatment.

Infertility counselors are often psychiatrists who specialize in sex therapy, as details in the couple’s sex lives will also come into discussion. It is easier to speak to a sex therapist about intimate details; they specialize in lessening the degree of awkwardness and allow you to open up without embarrassment. The couple’s sexual relationship is greatly affected by infertility. Self-esteem is lost due to an inability to conceive, and when fertility treatments start, hormone injections will also affect sex drives and cooperation between spouses. These fluctuating hormonal levels in the wife will also necessitate more counseling, as other issues, valid or otherwise, will arise.

Aside from emotional and psychological disturbance, couples may seek counseling for other issues related to infertility, including social and financial matters. Infertility is a social issue in the sense that family and close-degree relatives tend to impinge on what is supposed to be a private matter, believing it their concern for the couple’s well-being. Treatment for infertility is not inexpensive and the couple must also be aware of what they’re getting into financially, as well.

Of course, counseling for infertility is not inexpensive either. However, many fertility clinics and facilities will upfront recommend counseling to any couple diagnosed with infertility, as the benefits have proven to be most helpful. Also, couples can attest to infertility counseling as a major lifeline during infertility treatment and diagnosis. They will also affirm that since infertility counseling is not a long-term affair, the short-term expense is compensated by the long-term benefits.

Additionally, there are several infertility treatment grants available for infertility treatment and accompanying counseling. Usually non-profit organizations, these may also offer grants to couples who have no infertility insurance or are unable to financially proceed with treatments. Counselors may also determine which grants will best suit your needs and even help you apply for these grants.

While we don’t think of infertility in the bit about “in sickness and in health,” it is a very real, albeit quite extreme possibility for any couple. Counseling for infertility opens communication, strengthens relationships and helps to find a workable solution for your infertility problems.

During week 36 of pregnancy, you will notice that your baby has begun to drop lower. You will have to see your doctor weekly from this point forward and get a check up to see if you are effacing - The process by which the cervix begins to thin to prepare for the baby’s birth. Many women report that after the baby’s head has been lowered, they could breathe easier and their appetite increased. This is normal as the pressure from the baby has changed. Other women experience tingly sensations or numbing in their pelvic region.

You will also notice that the baby feels a lot heavier. This is the time when babies put on a lot of weight and they generally weigh around 6 pounds at this point. Be sure to continue eating well for this is the time your baby grows the most. You should also be prepared for delivery at any time during this period. Make sure your overnight bag is ready, get a nice hair cut to because you might not have time later.

If you don’t have a birthing plan by now, this is a good time to get one written. Be sure that your birthing plan includes all the little details of the type of birth you want, right down to the type of medication, people you want around you during childbirth and the location. If you notice any unusual conditions like flu, fever, headaches, hemorrhoids or pain in your abdomen, call your doctor to get it checked.

Do not over exert yourself by bending down to pick up stuff. Ask your partner to do it instead. You should also avoid moving around too much and if you must, be sure to ask someone to be around to take care of you. Get a couple of extra pillows and place one under your stomach and the other between your legs at the knees, these help take the pressure and weight off your baby and belly.
