The Internet History: the first website

Have you ever known where was the first website established? And who is the name behind the first time internet technology which we called ‘www (world wide web)’. Yesterday I thought it came from someone from united state or American but I realize now that I was wrong. The truth is Sir Timothy John “Tim” Berners-Lee, Jenewa, Swiss.

Tim was born in England, June 8, 1955, is the inventor of World Wide Web and also the chairman of World Wide Web consortium, and this organization developed all about the progression of www since that.

In 1980, when he was still working in CERN (Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire), Berners-Lee proposed one project was based hypertext concept. In the early of that project had something as purpose to facilitate all scientists from all division to share their innovation in one site of intern connection. With someone have the name Robert Cailliau, he created a prototype sytem called Enquire.

After leaving CERN for working at John Poole’s Image Computer System Ltd, he was back to 1984 as reseacher partner. He took same idea like Enquire for creating World Wide Web, a new technology of computer. He designed and made a first browser (World Wide Web and was amended within NeXTSTEP) and first web server was named httpd. The first website that Berners-Lee made (the first website in the world) was addressed at http http://info.cern.ch/ and had been onlined for the first time on August, 6 1991.

In 1994, Berners-Lee established World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Until now, Berners-Lee still humble and do not want to get popular status. That’s why there are many peoples don’t know how wonderful the masterwork of this guy.

One of his big contributions in developing World Wide Web is not to take a patent what he created and so that people free to use everytime. On July, 16 2004, he was given honour’s sake by Queen Elizabeth II in honour of his merit of science and life. []

Computer must be crazy

Nowadays, people around the world use computers to help them in their work, study, shopping, and also to communicate and get entertained. Computers really help us accompalish tasks that can otherwise be far more complicated. But besides the convenience they offer, computers can sometimes also create a lot of confusion, have you ever been confused by this smart gadget? If you have, thes jokes are proof that you’re not alone. Enjoy!

Four characters

Litle mike loves surfing the web, and he keeps track of his paswords by writing them on Post-it notes. His mother notice that his Disney pasword is “MickeyMinnieGoofyPluto,” and so she asks why it is so long. “Because,” Mike explains, “theysay it has to have at least four characters.”

Repairs

When a guys’s printer began to grow raint, he called a local repair shop where a friendly man informed him that the printer probably only needed to be cleaned. Because the store charged $50 for such cleanings, the repairman told the guy he might be better off reading the printer’s manual and trying the job himself. Pleasantly surprised by his honesty, the man asked, “Does your boss know that you discourage bussiness?” “Actually, it’s my boss’s idea,” the employee replied sheepishly. “We usually make more money on repairs if we let people try to fix thing themeselves first.”

Mice

A computer company ordered computer mice from japan. Ater the normal delivery period had elapsed, they contacted the airport to enquire what had happened to the consignment. The official-in-charge said that it was nowhere to be found and that it should be reported as missing. Some time later the official contacted the company to say that the package had been found. When they asked where it had been, he replied sheepishly, “in quarantine.”

Computer Touble

Judy, the editor of a trivia publication, was having trouble with her computer, so she called Dave, the computer guy, over to her desk, Dave click a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, judy called after him, “So, what was wrong?”

And he replied, “it was an ID ten T error”.

A puzzled expression ran over judy’s face. “An ID ten T error?

What’s that?

Well, in case I need to fix it again?” He gave her a grin,

“Haven’t you heard of an ID ten T error before?”

“No” replied Judy.

“Write it down,” he said, “and I think you’ll figure it out.”

She wrote: ID10T

Any Key

Acomputer instructor teaches a student how to enter his letters into Word Perfect. He tells the student to select Word perfect from his menu. Right after he does it. The computer gives him the opening screen wich says, “Press any key to continue...”

He looks at the keyboard for a while, then asks the instructor, “Where is the ‘any’ key?”

This is by far the most important block of them all. It is where you will make or break your site, it's your chance to close the sale. Your whole mini-site was created with a single purpose: to make visitors take immediate action... and this is where you get them to do it.

Finish up by stating once more your most appealing benefit and how it will help your prospect solve it's problems and finalize by asking for the order - you wouldn't believe how many people forget this final step, if you don't ask for the order they won't!

Make it easy and logical for them to purchase... remember this: "You can never make it to easy!". The process of placing an online order for your product can be obvious for you, but it's not as logical for everyone else; so make it as easy as possible for them to order and they will... make it just a tiny-little bit complex and they won't.

Offering a guarantee takes off the risk of their shoulders and puts it on yours. It gets rid of that last bump of resistance that prospects will have and make them order right away.

The longer your guarantee covers your product or service, the larger number of sales you will get. A one year money-back guarantee is definitely more compelling than a 30 day one... right? Well how about offering a "guaranteed results" or a "lifetime" guarantee? Do you think those would work? You bet they will!

Of course, you need to have a good product and be sure of your claims before making such a bold statement on your site. If you do not plan to back up your claims, modify your guarantee or better yet, improve your product so it does. People have a sixth sense when it comes to honesty... be honest to them if you want them to exchange their hard-earned money for your product.

Creating an irresistible offer of sales letter need a good tagline to make your prospects get action after they read your sales letter and call you since then. The tagline is the secret and the secret is important to make crazy offer in your website or blog because you don’t sell stuff face by face or knocking your prospect’s door and make a presentation in front of them. Before I explain how to make irresistible offer in your sales letter it’s better to know more a definition of irresistible offer. Mark joyner ever said that irresistible offer is an identity-building offer central to a product, service, or company where the believable return on investment is communicated so clearly and efficiently that it’s immediately apparent you’d have to be a fool to pass it up. I've developed this formula for you to use in your mini-blogs or sites:

Free stuff + Your most appealing benefit + deadline
= An irresistible offer nobody can refuse

Let's learn more about the formula, it’s easy to understand:

a) Free stuff.- On this part you'll offer valuable bonuses to your prospect. These bonuses need to be derived from the main benefit you have based your offer on - this will give your bonuses a perceived value that otherwise they wouldn't have.

b) Your most appealing benefit.- A single paragraph reminding them what your most appealing benefit is, this acts as a way to mentally underline their desire for your product and increases the percieved value of your bonus items.

c) Deadline.- Putting an end to your offer trough a period of time creates scarcity. You should be honest when setting a deadline and really take away the bonuses or raise the price when doing it. If you don't plan to do it, do not set a deadline to your offers.

A deadline makes prospects' minds thing: "Gee, I'd better get this before it's gone". This compels them into taking immediate action wich is the whole point of creating your mini-site.

The Benefits Block Of Sales Letter

Many products have its benefits. If you want to sell something you have to offer the benefits of your products. I am quite sure if you sell your product but you do not tell the benefits of your product so your products are still inside in your gallery, go nowhere, and still clean from dust. How to tell to prospects about benefits of your product, well, it’s better if you read a newspaper for couple moment and see their advertisements. Their ads must be offering the benefits as much as possible and offering the unique side, which will give the advantage. It is also similar to our part of sales letter (the benefits block of sales letter) and how to design it, it is the block you will use to build up on how your product can solve each of the problems your prospects have. Tell them about all the benefits that they will get once they own your product (or hire your service) and make these points as compelling and seductive as possible. Get your prospects to see themselves enjoying the benefits of using whatever you are selling.

The purpose of this block is to give information to your prospects and how attract their desire of their needs with the benefits of your products. Remember, sell products that your prospects needs, not what you need or thinking if you need so your prospects will need too. Use bullet lists to express the benefits and mix them with paragraphs to explain your more complex points; you can also mix in some testimonials to remind them that everything your are telling them is true and that you have others to prove it.

The Product Introduction of Sales Letter

Talking about product introduction is the most important thing for sales letter. It is part your sales letter after the informational block. Product introduction consist of two things. The first one is about your product introduction as the solution to the problems of your prospects and the second one is a graphical representation of your product or service (The secret formula for creating killer mini-sites that sell like crazy! - killerminisites.com).

Product introduction is amust thing because you want to track your visitor by using letter and you have to explain your product into all details. Many experiences of producer or even reseller is still getting problems how to sell the product, it was because they didn’t know how to introduce their product to their prospect and it needs the expertise to track it. So with good form of sales letter, including the whole block of sales letter I mean, is to handle a problem to sell it. It tends to as a good system how to sell it and it really works but if you really find the system it self.

For me, the system it self like a closing-prospect-machine. Put it this way, when your prospect have read your product introduction and they feel still not interest with your product you can cover up with the benefit block then or other testimonials block to convince them. That’s why I refer to a system as machine.

Product introduction in your sales letter is not like introducing your self to new friends because your prospects determine what they want to buy based on what they need. Sometimes they probably see your product and feel interest to the product but they can’t find something inside your product eventhough your product is the best than another products. So what you have to do is using FAQ (Frequently Ask Question) because with this part your prospects will find another information about your product. Also in this part they will find what they looking for.

In this part, you will talk about your business, but you don’t have to introduce your product. Most of sales letter consider that the informational block is something like you build up on the frustration they feel because of these problems and how you used to feel that way too (put your empathy with them to put yourself on their side). Give them a few hints that those problems are a thing of the past and close this block by telling them that you have a solution that will put an end to their problems. For my opinion what I’ve learned from several killer sales letters is correct because you wish visitor agree what you said and after they agree it’s much easier to direct them into what you want; make them buy what you sell.

The informational block has a purpose to put your self as someone who has deep understanding of what your visitor want. Actually you need to know psychological knowledge to understand your visitor. If your visitor thinks that Write an Article is so hardly so you must say that write an article is really hard to do but when you have found the secret how to write an article so write an article is not hard anymore and tend to be fun activity. You may say that was so hard and made me so frustrated with that and I learn and learn again until I got some secrets to write an interesting and attractive article and right now I want to reveal to you.

In this part, you need include some testimonials for your product to suggest your visitors that your product or your service is the best for them. If you have no any testimonial yet you need to contact by email your costumer and interview them some questions about your product and their opinion of your product. Your question could be how long they get benefit of your product. What about if you have no one customer yet?, you need to do another strategic to get testimonial. Firstly, get your prospect from anywhere, maybe your friends or someone that you trust before and then send the product to a few of your prospects for free in exchange for their testimonial.

If you think testimonials is necessary, yes absolutely you right. But for me it’s not enough if you want to build strong sales letter in your site. What you should do is needed to put your credentials; it means letter from popular person that people know much about him/her. Let say, he is a popular person in online business and you are an creator of how-to-get-tons-traffic-script, what you should do is send him you product for free and as exchange he must give the product credential for you. After you get it, you will know how strong the influence of credentials in your site then, but you should only include these if they relate directly to the product or service you are offering on that mini-site.

Setting up testimonials and credentials are also demonstrating your ability about product, delivery service, and service after selling is indeed accurate and attainable by everyone. Placing your testimonials right up front is crucial. You want to get your prospect on your side as quickly as possible. The headline of sales letter is a sentence to attract your visitor. You have to write with giving a big promise to your visitor and what kind of benefits they will get after buying your product. In this block sometimes in several sites give unbelievable promises of their product benefits. As an example:

"Discover the techniques to turn any electonic newsletter into a $20,000+ a month profit stream!"

For me, it’s okay if you want to write like that way if you really want to get high profit of your selling product. I know if your headline like that way can grab your visitor attention but for me it’s better if what you say is logic and responsible because if it is too exaggerate it will disappoint your customer and they never come and believe you again. The worst is they probably say to another people about badness thing of your product. Let think if they tell about your product in forum or in mailing list, you can get benefit if they tell about the good thing of your product, but what about something bad…

The Header Of Sales Letter

My writing before was about how to create a good sales letter contained header block. From what I saw and learned from several sales letter sites have some secrets. The secrets itself are ability to attract visitors by the eye-balls and pull them in. You have to grab their attention to by using your image. This image must contains company or product logo, blending with good photograph which illustrate related about your product or business and this image also can be put with link navigation to your mini-site or specific story of your product. You can tell about product benefits. But it’s just an option.

Talking about link navigation, having your link navigation in header block will give you an advantage; your visitors won’t spend time to read your entire of sales letter. It keeps your visitor stay not boring. Keeping your visitor stays with figuring out how to navigate through your site.

The important of them all is to compel your visitor into reading your headline. It means you have to do professionally designed because the success of your mini-site depends directly on how well you execute each of these blocks!

There are two advantages if we use search engine. The advantage for website owner and the advantage for people who search information. If you are a website owner so you can submit your site to search engine because you want people know about your site, what you write and what you sell. After submitting to search engine and you are listed in search engine so you also get free traffic of it. The problem is what numbers of traffic you will get or what numbers of visitor will visit your site. It doesn’t really matter for web master was easily getting on the top of search engine or being around of page one to page three. So, what about for new one or newbie. The key is keyword and if you’ve made your keyword works you can learn about link exchange, expert with that go to some sites that accept another site to put their ads for free, get to go to forum or groups and etc. That is how to drive traffic come to your website and make your site hit to number one of search engine or at least be around of page one to page three. But this time I do not write about haw to make all of it real but I tend to write about using keyword and other is later.

To find a relevant keyword it is better to use keyword tool such as Good Keyword or go to www.overture.com and type the general keyword that you like to use and you will find many choices and the number of visitors who search based on that keyword. Or maybe you want to make it practice to do is go to your competitor site based on your keyword and find the source of their HTML and you will find what keyword they use. It will better if you choose your competitor in the first rank or in the first page of search engine and when you try to find the source of their HTML you can find it in View option of your browser then choose Source.

Karen Kong is Malaysian pop singer, she has over 150.000 friends and 800,000 page views per month.

Friendster as we know is social network, it is same with other social network like Myspace or face Facebook. Three of them have the advantage and disadvantage for user. I can’t compare one of another because I actually just have friendster profile and haven’t joined to Myspace or Facebook. I started to socialize myself in 2004, when Myspace and Facebook is not popular yet for asian people at the time. But now Myspace and Facebook has been big website in Asia and they compete to be the best social network.

Based on my experience in socializing in Frindster, I found and even until now find the easy thing, such as finding friends, looking at friends’ profile, writing in message board, uploading my pictures, and many things. Particular for making friend in Friendster is so interesting and I have 50 friends and more connecting to them. Mostly comes from Indonesian people, it is because I am Indonesian too.

When I saw my friend Friendster profile with more than 500 friends, I ask to myself who is the famous people in Friendster?. Maybe she or he has a lot of friends and driving tons of traffic. And I don’t know who the person is. But in couple days before I read from article wrote about the popular people in friendster, the name is Karen Kong.

Can u imagine how she made 150.000 friends and 800.000 page views per month? I just have 50 friends and 10 page views per month. It’s because I am not an artist and I understand that Karen Kong was help by her management to increase her traffic and Friendster is not only as personal place but has been official site or profitable site to promote people as a product of one industry. Karen Kong is a product it self.

Everyone has a dream, everyone want their self will get happy in the future, not only for them but more than that they want to make happy their family with what they have. I seldom heard someone get success to take his or her whole family went abroad or bought like a luxurious house, diamond, shiny jewellery to his wife, car, well food, and many things. It was because they are success to make a thing. Sometime I thought how much money they have, they have a lot. For me it’s not about the money it self, but what make me so exciting is they prove that they can make nothing to be something and they are success right now. It is as if that everyday is celebration day for them, today they go to Singapore and next month perhaps they will go to Australia or China.

I remember what success people ever said, such as Henry Ford said, “be careful with people who dream in the middle of the day, because they dream with their eyes wide open. It’s different with people who dream in the middle of the night with their sleepy eyes” or last two days I looked at a picture, it was a Bruce Lee picture, the picture it’s so dark, which represent how tough he was, how strong he was, how brilliant he was, and also describe how miserable his last day. Someone killed him. Beside his amazing life that can inspire peoples in the world, in that picture I also read a motivation quote from him, “Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough we must do”. With that picture he tries spreading his spirit and I catch the spirit and try to do what he ask. Thank You Bruce.

Back to my title, it is hard to make money online. What is the meaning, the meaning is I catch the opportunity in online. Everything I will catch as long as it is not sin. I joined with Google Adsense, I accept advertiser put their advertising inside my blog, but until now it’s not working out. I also joined with paid to survey program but I doubt with the programs because I heard that is scam mostly. And the last thing is paid to blog program, a program which will pay you to review, write, give opinion about some products or websites. I quite interest with this program because the first time I knew that is easy to make money online, but I wrong. It is hard to be approved if your blog is average like others, we want some unique things, and blog writing updated, and of course the traffic. I have no three of them. I feel so down right after that because every my application is rejected. And then I went back to my boarding house with feeling so down and turn or my computer and checked it out my document until I found Bruce Lee picture. And feel steamed up again. Wish me luck.

Learning Google (part 2) : Special Searching

Hello best readers, I gave you information about another way to search in Google.com previously. If you do not read yet the article please click this to read my previous article. And right know I will give you another way in searching and I will share my knowledge (I got from some SEO Masters and one Indonesian magazine CHIP Magazine because I am their customer).

By the way, beside advanced search, Google also has many searching operators. This way much more effective than Advance Search because there are some ways are not going to success in Advance Search. After learning this operator you will get a powerful research in complex searching even.

In order that Google recognize the operator, it’s necessary a special syntax. Please see this syntax:

But unfortunately, there is not all operators can be used and just be used in certain country such as United State. Learning Google (part 1) : Searching in Google Page-Specific Search

As we know before that the number one of search engine, which lead in Internet business field, is Google.com. Google doesn’t give their service as an engine search only. But more than that, you will find more benefits if you know more about Google.com as throughout. I firstly just knew about google.com as an engine search only that will bring me to my keyword pages what I want to know. And right now, I know more about Google. If I want to search something and type my keyword in Google Search Box so I will be given much number of search results and sometimes it is not like what I expect before because I found many web pages are not related to what I want but related to my keyword. But it doesn’t really matter right now after I found some articles about SEO in CHIP Magazine that have given me an information about a different searching method in Google. Google name that method is Google Page-Specific Search. This tool will give me a specific result of my searching.

The facility of Page-Specific Search is easily found in beneath of Google Advanced Search. Go to “Similar” box for searching similar pages without must type a keyword. For examples if we want to know about the information of Google Help, we have to type www.google.com/help.html and click button search for next. The result is Google provides many similar websites are related to www.google.com/help.html

I found lately information about why I have to increase my Alexa Rank. Actually I think Alexa toolbar that I’ve installed in my blog in couple month ago just as to see what my ranking. Never want to know another benefit if I increase my Alexa Rank. But in recent days when I decide to make my blog as a form of monetization so I need to increase my Alexa Rank.

According to doshdosh.com which I read her article about 20 quick ways to increase your Alexa Rank stated that webmasters, blogger, advertisers and ad networks use Alexa Rank as a gauge to determine the worth of a link on website. If we depend on link or site selling as a form of monetization we’ll definitely want to increase your Alexa rank, because it’ll increase your bargaining power when it comes to ad pricing. ReviewMe, Text Link Ads and Sponsored Reviews are just three of the networks which base your ad selling strength on Alexa Ranks.

What she said it’s true when I decided to sign up in some paid to blog, paid to review, or paid to post program, they require Alexa Rank as a gauge of website quality. If they find the rank of a link on website have a poor rank so they consider not to recruit us as their blogger or affiliate, or put us as probation website and suggest to us to increase first our rank. Mostly they ask our blog have to be in first rank, second, or third. What they want actually is logic because they want their advertiser can be known or be read by many readers. It’s based on the simple thought that is first rank is many readers or visitors, so that’s why they require our Alexa Rank have to be in the first, second, third rank.

Just addition, the information said that East Asian web users are big Alexa toolbar fans, judging by the presence of several Asia-based websites in the Alexa Top 500. Most of webmasters suggest trying this only if you have the time or capacity to do so.

The title of this post seems great or easy to do for an expert one. I actually as a new blogger feel hard to increase my traffic and still have to learn a lot about how to increase my traffic. Sometimes dreaming about when I get my first page in search engine. Because if I get my blog is around of the first page I might get some new people who never know me before and they read my posts and just see my blog performance. But lucky me that I until know still want to learn, try my best, and never stop writing.

I got some tips from an expert one about how to increase the traffic. Maybe it is useful for readers are reading my posts now.

Join to Technorati and Improving The Rankings

Many bloggers has known well Technorati as a search engine for blogs. I read a news that Technorati has indexed over 75 million blogs as of April 2007. Technorati provides real-time search for user-generated media (Include Blogs) by tag or keyword. Another feature and specially is called “Authority”. Technorati provides a popularity ranking for blog. The higher the "Authority" of your blog the more popular your blog is.

1. Create a lot of contents.
Don’t forget writing more and more contents. Please be creative and informative. The more contents you create, the higher chances your blog will get higher ranking in Technorati. This is essential thing for you to get good ranks.
