Shelby is such a sweet and gentle pup, not to mention, ADORABLE!!! She’s a small bundle of joy…and that ‘piggy tail’ just adds to her character…She is still a bit shy, though she makes up for it by sharing plenty of kisses! She is a high energy pup, due to the breed mix! Shelby craves the attention you put upon her -she adores her people. She is learning her basic commands-she is doing very well, as she only wants to please. Shelby would make a wonderful companion for most any family-she LOVES everyone!!!

Help students graduate by contributing to scholarship funds

If you are looking for a cause to support here in Newnan, how about the Coweta Community Foundation? Founded in 1997, the goals of the foundation are to be a catalyst for the establishment of endowments that will benefit the community; to encourage collaboration among agencies and community organizations; to serve as a steward of funds; to fill the interests and needs of donors and to act as leadership in identifying and meeting community needs, providing the necessary resources.

Since its founding, the CCF has funded projects for The Kids’ Castle and the Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts among others.  Their current ongoing projects are CLICK, Stepping Stones and the Ferst Foundation.

There are many ways that you can contribute to the CCF, including providing funds for scholarships, fields of interest, memorial dedications and more, and supporting organizations.  If you are able, you can donate by setting up trusts, giving outright gifts like stocks, retirement plans, insurance policies, etc.  Do we have any current donors here at Preston Mill?

Movie: Joyful Noise

Plot Summary: The small town of Pacashau, Georgia, has fallen on hard times, but the people are counting on the Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. The choir has always known how to sing in harmony, but the discord between its two leading ladies now threatens to tear them apart. Their newly appointed director, Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), stubbornly wants to stick with their tried-and-true traditional style, while the fiery G.G. Sparrow (Parton) thinks tried-and-true translates to tired-and-old. Shaking things up even more is the arrival of G.G.’s rebellious grandson, Randy (Jeremy Jordan). When I read it I immediately think about what it means to enter a new year.  It’s all about having goals (seeking happiness in the distance) but more importantly, life is about being mindful of what’s going on in our lives now.  If we are so focused on the future, we might miss out on something great happening in the present, so stop and take a look around, Preston Mill; you never know what you’ll find.

If you could accomplish one new thing today, what would it be? If you have a large goal, like a New Year’s resolution, break it down into small, manageable pieces.  Just like chores like cleaning a room, starting with that one small corner can feel good because you’ll know that you’ve accomplished something.  I am interested to hear about your small goal of the day.  Not what you wish you could do if only…but what you plan on accomplishing and working towards before you go to sleep tonight.

Ring in the new year at Underground Atlanta

While Atlanta isn’t right around the corner, it’s the place to be on New Year’s Eve this year! The Peach Drop will take place at Underground Atlanta as it has every year since 1989.  It is the Southeast’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration and we’ve got it right here in the greater Atlanta area! You will not only watch the peach drop, but you can also enjoy 14 hours of family-friendly festivities starting at 11 am and ending at 3 am on New Year’s Day.

Visitors to the Underground will get to enjoy the musical stylings of Kansas, the classic rock group that released hits like “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind.” Listen to their performance as you wait for the 800 pound peach to drop.  In addition to Kansas, you can also enjoy live performances by Pato Margetic, Jimi Cravity, Isaiah Hill, the Georgia Power Trio and many more on several stages.

Let your child express her creativity in her room

If you had your own room, at some point you probably wanted to make some changes and choose your own room theme.  These days, kids are more tuned in to room design thanks to channels like HGTV, according to interior style consultant Barbara Schmidt.  Schmidt says, “Let your child be a part of the design process by giving them a job to do…Something like allowing them to pick out the colors of custom matboard can make them feel like they’re taking part in designing their own personal space.” They can do this by using framed art and photography going along with their decided theme.
