Influenza Vaccines: from the Centers for Disease Control

Influenza Vaccines for children and adults are currently recommended for all patients over age 6 months. We currently have a limited stock of preservative free influenza vaccine for infants/toddlers under 36 months of age. For older toddlers, children, teens, and adults, we are no longer able to obtain additional influenza vaccine for this season. Please try local pharmacies in order to obtain your influenza vaccine for 2012-2013 influenza season. In addition, please mark your calendars for Fall, 2013 as a reminder to schedule your influenza vaccine for the 2013-2014 influenza season. Updated 1/15/13

Seasonal Influenza: Flu Basics

Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year.
The upcoming season's flu vaccine will protect against the three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season. This includes an influenza A (H1N1) virus, an influenza A (H3N2) virus, and an influenza B virus.
