WHAT IS A BLOG???

So you’re interested in making money with AdSense? Well join the club. But before we get to the good stuff, we have to build the foundation. Chances are good that if you’re reading this you know what blogs are and how to create them. Good for you! You’re on the fast track to getting started with AdSense. But patience grasshoppa, we must help those who don’t even know what blogging is.

Here’s the definition of a blog from Wikipedia:

“A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.”

A blog is basically an online diary - A journal written by an author, about the author and/or the author’s interests. The great thing about a blog is there are no boundaries whatsoever. You can blog about your dog, cat, career, relationships, car, favorite ice cream, etc, etc. You have total control to be as creative as your heart desires!

The important thing about this journey is that you blog about something that matters to you. Different people have different interests and you’re no exception. Chances are good that others just like you are ready to delve into your material because they have similar tastes. Don’t hesitate to write about something you’re passionate about - just do it! (like Nike)

Google's AdSense sounds interesting to you. You like the idea of legitimately making money online with advertisements. You even went so far as to read my last post: Getting Started with Blogging! But you have no idea how to get setup - until now.

I do Web Consulting for a living (no, I'm not a full-time blogger… yet). I'd say on a scale of 1-10 of web knowledge I'm probably near a 9, maybe a 9.1. But guess what? You don't have to know squat about web design or web programming. Of course you'll have to learn some web terminology along the way but you can start at ground zero today. The great thing about blogging and potentially earning money with AdSense is that you don't have to be a web guru.

I repeat: you do not have to be a web guru to start a blog and use AdSense.

There is a wide range of blogging tools out there. Some free, some not. If you haven't noticed, I'm using a tool called: Blogger. Before this I had experimented with Typepad and even created my own (this was a few years ago when the term “Blog” wasn't exactly a household name).

Why Blogger? Well for a few reasons: 1.) It's Free! 2.) It's a breeze to setup and 3.) Google owns it. Yeah, the same Google that's helping us earn money through their AdSense program - A perfect marriage indeed.

Ok, so you have your blog topic (or maybe not but you will soon…right?) I'm going to get you hooked up to the service in no more than 10 minutes (times will vary for animals and small children). At the end of this you'll be ready to start writing up some content, free of charge.

1.) Go to Blogger and sign in with your Google account. If you don't use any Google services like Gmail you can create a new account here.

2.) Click on the “Create Your Blog Now” button arrow on the bottom right and fill in the information.

3.) Name your blog and give it an address. Make sure the name is meaningful and not too long.

4.) Choose from one of the many templates available.

5.) Your blog has been created!

Now wasn't that painless? In a matter of minutes you have reserved some real estate on the Internet.

I would suggest doing some exploring on your own at this point. Get a sense of the tools available to you and I'll go into further detail in the near future. Have fun!

Now , right click on any of unfilled room and den click on properties ( option is found only in IE , for opera or mozilla or any other browser it may be page info or something else)

Now in properties , copy the adress ( as shown in pic)

How To Hack Gmail Account & How To Protect Your Gmail Account

1. How can you hack GMail account?
2. How can you protect your GMail account from hackers?
Hackers at Defcon demonstrated a tool to hack into GMail accounts by snooping unencrypted data (man-in-the-middle attack) with cookie which Google GMail uses for everything other than login by default.

Last week Google introduced the ability to optionally encrypt any transmission to / from GMail and not just the login sequence. Previously GMail used to encrypt the login sequence only. All other data was transmitted unencrypted over the wire making such hacking possible. Every email, every article that you are reading on your GMail account is transmitted unencrypted over the web.

This makes it possible for an attacker sniffing traffic on the network to insert an image served from http://mail.google.com and force your browser to send the cookie file, thus getting your session ID. Once this happens the attacker can log in to the account without the need of a password. People checking their e-mail from public wireless hotspots are obviously more likely to get attacked than the ones using secure wired networks.

Mike Perry, the San Francisco based reverse engineer who developed the GMail hacking tool is planning to release it in two weeks. He is not happy how Google didn't inform its users about the seriousness of the problem. Effectively anyone with basic networking knowledge can implement the hack. It could be your employer, your angry girlfriend or your curious neighbor or just any damn script-kiddie with too much time on his hands.

How can you protect your GMail account from hacking?

The solution is surprisingly simple. After logging in to GMail go to Settings (General tab). At the bottom of the page you will notice Browser Connection. Change it to Always use https. Now save the settings. In Google's words:

To enable this feature in Gmail:

Sign in to Gmail.
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Set 'Browser Connection' to 'Always use https.'
Click Save Changes.
Reload Gmail.

That's all you need to protect your GMail account from getting hacked. However there are few caveats.
How securing GMail can affect you?

GMail may become slightly slower. Personally I think it is an acceptable cost for security but you decide.
Gmail Notifier users must download a patch for GMail Notifier (Gmail Notifier is a downloadable application that alerts you whenever you have new Gmail messages) to work with this setting. To install the patch follow these steps:
1. Download the patch (.zip).
2. Open the folder.
3. Double-click the notifier_https.reg file.
4. Click yes when you're asked to confirm if you want to add the information to the registry.
5. Restart the Notifier.
You may see errors in the Gmail for mobile application from enabling this setting. The specific errors vary by device, but in general you'll see 'unexpected error' or have the app suddenly quit on you.If you have the latest version of the app (1.5) (If you need to find the version number of the application that's installed on your mobile phone, please select Menu > More > Help. The version number and platform will be displayed.), you can work around these errors by also enabling the app's own 'Always use secure network connections (slower performance):' setting from your device and then signing out:
1. Select Menu > Go to > Settings.
2. Check the Always use secure network connections (slower performance): option.
3. Make sure the 'Always keep me signed in' option is NOT checked (in order for you to sign out).
4. Save your changes.
5. Select Menu > Exit Gmail.
6. Restart the app and sign in.

How To Get Back Your Hacked Gmail/Orkut/Google Account!

You can submit a form to Google in which you can provide details about your Google Account usage.

Details include information which most likely only real owner can provide. Here are few things for example…

Last successful login date
Account creation date
Google products you used with this account and the date you started using each one
Details about Orkut account (if you use Orkut)
Details about Blogger account (if you use Blogger)

Now most important part is what they quoted on the form,

“Please answer each question as thoroughly and accurately as possible. If you’re not certain about some of the information, provide your closest estimate. Whether or not we can return your account depends on the strength and accuracy of your responses.”

So I will suggest following things…

Your goal should be to give Google maximum & accurate data! So take your time and submit form with maximum amount of information possible. You can consult your trusted friends if you are not sure. As an example it could be Sam or Bob who invited you on orkut. If you are not sure call them up and ask it!
Submit only one form! Yes this should be common sense. Do not submit multiple forms. A person who uses around 10-15 Google products asked me if he can submit multiple forms mentioning different Google products.
Submit form from the place which you use most often to access your account like PC at home! Although they haven’t mentioned this explicitly, line above submit button says, “Please note that we need your IP address in order to resolve this issue. Your IP address will be captured automatically when you submit this form.”

Finally Contact Form is here!

I advise everyone to have a look at this form and information it asks. You can prepare a document about secret info, may be in cell phone or pen down it on a paper. This will come handy if something goes wrong in future!

Today I will show you how to hack Passwords using an USB Pen Drive. As we all know, Windows stores most of the passwords which are used on a daily basis, including instant messenger passwords such as MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Windows messenger etc. Along with these, Windows also stores passwords of Outlook Express, SMTP, POP, FTP accounts and auto-complete passwords of many browsers like IE and Firefox. There exists many tools for recovering these passswords from their stored places. Using these tools and an USB pendrive you can create your own rootkit to hack passwords from your friend’s/college Computer. We need the following tools to create our rootkit.

MessenPass: Recovers the passwords of most popular Instant Messenger programs: MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ Lite 4.x/2003, AOL Instant Messenger provided with Netscape 7, Trillian, Miranda, and GAIM.

Mail PassView: Recovers the passwords of the following email programs: Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook 2000 (POP3 and SMTP Accounts only), Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003 (POP3, IMAP, HTTP and SMTP Accounts), IncrediMail, Eudora, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Group Mail Free.
Mail PassView can also recover the passwords of Web-based email accounts (HotMail, Yahoo!, Gmail), if you use the associated programs of these accounts.

IE Passview: IE PassView is a small utility that reveals the passwords stored by Internet Explorer browser. It supports the new internet Explorer 7.0, as well as older versions of internet explorer, v4.0 - v6.0

PasswordFox: PasswordFox is a small password recovery tool that allows you to view the user names and passwords stored by Mozilla Firefox Web browser. By default, PasswordFox displays the passwords stored in your current profile, but you can easily select to watch the passwords of any other Firefox profile. For each password entry, the following information is displayed: Record Index, Web Site, User Name, Password, User Name Field, Password Field, and the Signons filename.

Here is a step by step procedre to create the password hacking toolkit.

NOTE: You must temporarily disable your antivirus before following these steps.

1. Download all the 5 tools, extract them and copy only the executables(.exe files) into your USB Pendrive.

ie: Copy the files - mspass.exe, mailpv.exe, iepv.exe, pspv.exe and passwordfox.exe into your USB Drive.

2. Create a new Notepad and write the following text into it

save the Notepad and rename it from

save the Notepad and rename it from

Copy the launch.bat file also to your USB drive.

Now your rootkit is ready and you are all set to hack the passwords. You can use this pendrive on your friend’s PC or on your college computer. Just follow these steps

1. Insert the pendrive and the autorun window will pop-up. (This is because, we have created an autorun pendrive).

2. In the pop-up window, select the first option (Perform a Virus Scan).

3. Now all the password hacking tools will silently get executed in the background (This process takes hardly a few seconds). The passwords get stored in the .TXT files.

4. Remove the pendrive and you’ll see the stored passwords in the .TXT files.

This hack works on Windows 2000, XP and Vista

NOTE: This procedure will only recover the stored passwords (if any) on the Computer

I’ve read a number of articles on the internet about changing the text on the Start button in XP. On more than one occasion I’ve seen references to a five (5) letter limitation when the button is renamed. I always wondered if this was true or just an assumption someone made because the default ‘start’ just happened to fit the button size. So, I decided to run a test and see if there really was a five character limit.

First of all just u need to do is download Resource hacker.

Resource HackerTM is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems.

Download Resource Hacker

First Step The first step is to make a backup copy of the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer. Place it in a folder somewhere on your hard drive where it will be safe. Start Resource Hacker and open explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer.exe
The category we are going to be using is String Table In Resource Hacker. Expand it by clicking the plus sign then navigate down to and expand string 37 followed by highlighting 1033. If you are using the Classic Layout rather than the XP Layout, use number 38. The right hand pane will display the stringtable as shown in Fig. 02. We’re going to modify item 578, currently showing the word “start” just as it displays on the current Start button.

There is no magic here. Just double click on the word “start” so that it’s highlighted, making sure the quotation marks are not part of the highlight. They need to remain in place, surrounding the new text that you’ll type. Go ahead and type your new entry

Rename Windows Xp Start button to any desired Name

Second Step – Modify the Registry Now that the modified explorer.exe has been created it’s necessary to modify the registry so the file will be recognized when the user logs on to the system. If you don’t know how to access the registry I’m not sure this article is for you, but just in case it’s a temporary memory lapse, go to Start (soon to be something else) Run and type regedit in the Open: field. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon

the Right pane , double click the Shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box as shown in . In Value data: line, enter the name that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file. Click OK.

Close Registry Editor and either log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if that’s your preference. If all went as planned you should see your new Start button with the revised text.

3) Type orkut in the text box and click filter/refresh.look for orkut_state cookie.

4) Just double click it and replace the orkut_state part with your victims. No need to change the _umbz _umbc part...

5) THATS IT!!

Google uses a 4 Level Orkut login which makes it difficult to hack using brute force attack.

First Level Security-SSL or 128 bit secured connection

Second Level Google account checks for cookie in the sytem of user

Third Level Google provides a redirection to the entered User information

Fourth Level Google doesn't use conventional php/aspx/asp coding so impossible to attack using input validation attack!!!

It is not an easy task to break this security! But still some people manages to get access to other accounts. The question concerned is How they do it? Many of them just use simple tricks that befool users and then they themself leak out their password. Here are some points you need to take care of, to prevent your Orkut account being hacked!

Phishing Attack is the most popular way of stealing other's password.By using fake login pages. The users land on a page where they are asked for their login information and they enter their username and password thinking it to be a real page but actually it is other way round. It submits all the details entered to the programmer or the coder.

Orkut New Features: I have come across a page that looks like they are giving the user a choice of selecting new features for orkut with your ID and password, of course!! When user submit the page, there goes his ID and password mailed to the coder.

Community Links: Many times you are provided with a link to a community in a scrap. Read the link carefully, It may be something like http://www.okrut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=22910233 OKRUT not ORKUT. Clicking on this link will take you to a fake login page and there you loose up your password.

Java script: You must have seen the circulating scraps that asks you to paste this code in your address bar and see what happens! Well sometimes they also leak out your information. Check the code and if you are unsure of what to do, then I recommend not to use it.

Primary mail address: If by some means a hacker came to know password of your Yahoo mail or Gmail, which users normally keeps as their primary mail address in their Orkut account, then hacker can hack Orkut account by simply using USER ID and clicking on 'forget password'.This way Google will send link to the already hacked primary email id to change the password of the Orkut account. Hence the email hacker will change your Orkut account's password. Hence your Orkut account hacked too.

So a better thing would be to keep a very unknown or useless email id of yours as primary email id so that if the hacker clicks on 'Forgot password' the password changing link goes to an unknown email id i.e. not known to the hacker.Hence your Orkut account saved.

Hey everyone , well here is a cool way of hacking anybody's Id , all u need is random hatch back number ( it is a code which uniquely identifies a particular Id on Zapak , though after every log in random hatch back get changed)

For hacking , u need to be clever a bit social engineering and u will be able to hack nebody, ask your victim that if he will give u his hatch code u might double his chips becoz u have one software about 100 mb wchich can double nebdoy's chips just hatch code is needed, or their are many ways of getting anybody's random hatch code.

to get random hatch back, ask your victim to click on "view game" in any game's room

Now tell him to right click on screen while game window is loading and then click on properties option (as shown in pic) since i'm using Firefox that why instead of properties , i'm getting page info option , but both are same , both provides random hatch ..

Now ask him to look for his random hatch in adress bar (as shown in pic).

After getting random hatch , u r almost done with hacking ,u just need user id number (which u will in statistics page of victim as shown in pic) to completely hack him.

Now u have every necessary things to hack anybody's account , use the code below and simply exchange random hatch and user id , and paste it in your browser window to hack your victim.

I was shocked when i heard one of my colleague yahoo id is hacked and its true we were receiving junk mails from that yahoo id and from day i was spending most of my free time to find out how they might have hacked her yahoo id. Then finally i got it how they might have hacked,The four most common ways of Hacking Yahoo ids are ..

1. Social Enginnering is actually nothing but trying to know your personal and confidential details and then using it to change your password ..BUT HOW? ok there's a forgot password option with Yahoo which asks for your B'day,Country & Zip Code & later your security question..Now generally lamers who try this mode of Hacking have lots of time to waste ..They will put you into some kinda friendship/emotional trap and try to get all the above mentioned information .It may take 1-2 days or even 1-2 month ...(Really I pitty on such lamers !! ).

2.The second kinda Hacking attempt is done with the Help of Yahoo Password Crackers...I doubt bout their efficiency bt still some of them r lucky (other way round u r stupid lol)..Password Crackers & Password Changers use Brute Force Technique with their updated wordlists...WHAT IS BRUTE FORCE ?I'll make it simple ..it's like using all possible combinations and permutations on the available data and using it as a password ..Bt again it takes a hell lot of time to crack a password ....

3.The third and one of the most frequently used way of hacking or stealing Yahoo password is using trojans and keyloggers ..WHAT ARE TROJANS? hmmm.. I already have one ...bt still TROJANS are simple programs with a server part and the client part ..you infect the victims computer with the server part and the server then connects to the client running on your system and sends passwords and vital informations..and KEYLOGGERS are programs which record your keystrokes in a log.txt file and sends that log file to the Hacker...

I have this trojan programm beleive me it worked guys i tried it on my yahoo id. Dont want to say more about it secret ... lol.. ;) So please be carefull when you are accepting any files send by some one.

Once Infected by these trojans the infected server sends your password to the Hackers Yahoo Messenger id as PM 's ...

4. The last form of Yahoo Password stealing is done by using FAKE LOGIN PAGES ..Now wht the **** :-) is Fake login Page ?These are cloned pages of the real Yahoo Mail Sign in pages .They look very similar to the real conterparts and really very difficult to distinguish..Once you put inyour real id and password and press the submit button you will be either redirected to some other pasge /invalid login page but the trick had already been played by this time ..your id and password would have been mailed to the Hackers mail id by using a 3rd party SMTP server and you don't even realize that you are HACKED...

So be carefull Always view the address bar ..If the address bar shows something like http://mail.yahoo.com or http://edit.login.yahoo.com then its the authentic page but if its something different then DONOT login.

Make Easy Money With PayPal’s Money Market Fund

Making money online can be as simple as getting a competitive return on your investment, instead of just leaving it in a safe letting it decrease in value over time as inflation kicks in. While the current rate of inflation around 4% won’t be completely overridden by PayPal’s new Money Market Fund, the number of people NOT taking advantage of the clear-cut 2.5%-3.0% return amazes me. Truth be told, the current yield at juts 2.64% is on the lower end of what they have done historically. Heck, they’ve even hit over 5.56% returns just a few years ago. Have they EVER lost money? No. Will they lose you money? Probably not. I give them the green light on getting you a positive return on money that would ordinarily do nothing in your PayPal account.

This sounds too good to be true right? Well, it really is this easy and good. There are no fees or anything to invest, and you can even put as little as one dollar into the fund… though that would be a bit pointless wouldn’t it? They’ve drawn out a particular scenario where you invest $10,000 in the fund, which achieves 5% returns a year for ten years going. You would gain $1,349 on your investment! Sure, this is a hypothetical, but it is a great example of how having your money in the program can benefit you.

What about taking money out? PayPal makes this really easy, as you can literally take money out or put more in at any time. They kick back a dividend to your account every quarter, so you will see your investment start to come back in pieces. I love seeing my money actually doing something. Because they don’t tax your account money at all in the first place, you are making money with ease!

Bottom Line: PayPal’s Money Market Fund is a cool new way to get a return on the money ordinarily just sitting around in your PayPal account. Don’t be hesitant to join, its so easy and it is almost risk free. Don’t be too concerned with the disclaimers saying you could lose money, it’s not going to happen… it’s just required by law. I’m not sure if this is available overseas or not, so if you can’t access the feature… you are probably out of luck. 13 quick ways to make your blog stand out from the crowd

With a new blog being started every second it can be hard to stand out from the crowd. Following are some tips on how to differentiate your blog from the millions of others out there.

1. Pick a unique topic - it is easier said than done to choose a topic that is unique from everyone else today in a blogosphere as crowded as we’re currently in - however opportunities do arise to start blogs on topics that are new trends, products or ideas. Being first doesn’t guarantee success - but it can help.

2. Develop a Unique Voice - while it may not always be possible to choose a unique topic it can sometimes be easier to cover that topic in a way that others do not. Whether it be by using humor, blogging as a character (think Fake Steve Jobs blog), blogging in the 3rd Person (Manolo the Shoe Blogger) or some other way - finding a unique voice or style can set you apart from the rest.

3. Design - having a unique blog design doesn’t mean you need to pay big dollars for a custom design - start with a default one (or a premium design like Thesis) and tweak it with a unique logo, colors and layout. Visual first impressions count and can be the deciding factor as to whether people subscribe to your blog or not.

4. Useful Content - perhaps the best way to stand out from the crowd and make an impression upon people is to produce content that impacts them in some way. Write something that matters, that helps people, that solves a problem, that enhances people’s lives and you drastically increase the chances of them coming back and bringing a friend with them.

5. Be Prolific - something that can make a real impression on people is when they keep ‘bumping into you’. Predict where your potential readers will be going online and position yourself there as a prolific contributor. It might be social media sites, it might be the comments section of another blog or it could be a forum on your topic - wherever it is - make sure you have an active presence there. If people keep seeing you in the places that they hang out they’ll eventually take note and want to know more about you.

6. Love Your Readers to Death - this is key in the early days of a blog when readers seem scarce. The reality is that the 10 readers that you DO have already are a powerful resource - focuse upon them rather than the thousands of readers that you DON’T have. Love them - thank them for their comments - involve them in your blogging - promote them and the sites that they have and in doing so you’ll be building loyalty, trust and relationship that one day will pay off. 7. Be Original - there’s nothing more dry than coming to a blog that has much the same content as every other blog that you’ve already read that day. Don’t just rehash news and talk about things in the same way that others are - dare to be different, play devils advocate, look for new angles in stories, translate the news for your readers and help them to work out how it impacts them etc

8. Express an Opinion - people who express opinions seem to get more attention than those who simply report news. Tell people what YOU think and you’re bound to get discussion between those who agree with you and those who do not.

9. Get Visual - whether it be by using eye catching pictures, diagrams and charts or even using video - when you add a visual element to your posts you will grab the attention of those who are more visually oriented. Images draw the eye, illustrate points and add new dimension to what is largely a text based medium.

10. Use Titles with Bling - post titles that draw people to read your post are essential and can be the difference between someone visiting your blog from a search engine, social media site or another blog and visiting someone else’s blog that has a more intriguing title.

11. Longevity Counts - many blog readers are looking to journey with someone and can be a little suspicious of new blogs and wonder how long they’ll last. Blog consistently for the long term and you build credibility, trust and profile in your industry.

12. Build Momentum - one mistake that many blogs make is that there is a sense that the blog is not really going anywhere. Posts appear on the blog that rarely relate to one another. I find that when I’m in the middle of a series or writing content that builds upon something that I’ve written before that readers really respond well. Its also this momentum that builds a sense of anticipation on a blog - which in turn builds subscriber numbers.

13. Drive People to Your Archives - one of the weaknesses of blogs as a medium is that in they often hide their best content. The content that gets most attention is the latest post - whether it is good or not. Blogs that not only highly what is NEW but find ways to highlight what is BEST in their archives draw readers to the content that is most likely to convince them to stay around for more.

Alone the 13 points above will have some impact upon helping your blog to stand out from the crowd - however the key is to work on more than one because together they make a significant difference.

This article may sound a little harsh to some. It's not meant to be as I am just stating the facts from my own personal experiences.

I'm sure there are some good free hosts out there, it's just that my experiences with them have been pretty negative overall.

I don't think many people realize the number of disadvantages that go along with creating free websites. Hopefully this article will shed some light on the subject.

Don't make the same mistake I did. After this nightmare, I vowed to never go the "free route" again. Creating your site from scratch with its own dot com name is affordable and definitely worth the small investment.

Parking your site at a free host is often like building a house on sand. It may be quick and and it may seem easy at first, but I can almost guarantee you it won't last long.

Disadvantages of Free Web Hosts

Limited web page space
Can't add interactive features (chat rooms, message boards, games, online ordering etc.)
Search engines often ignore them A HUGE disadvantage!
Your visitors may doubt your credibility
May have banners and/or pop ads on your homepage and/or all of your pages
Long and hard-to-remember web address (instead of yourdomain.com)
No guarantees of site availability and longevity
No branded emails addresses (you@yourdomain.com)

Many beginners gravitate toward the free hosters because they feel that registering a domain name is too expensive and/or too difficult.

I realize the website building process may be intimidating for you if you've never created a site before. You may be worried about spending your money on something that is unfamiliar and difficult. I can totally understand that.

Let me assure you that building a dot com site is not expensive at all. The average website costs between $5 and $10 per month to maintain.

This site costs me absolutely nothing to maintain because I earn all of my hosting fees back (and then some) by belonging to Google's free Adsense program.

They pay you to display text ads on your web pages and you earn a commission every time one of the ads gets clicked. And if you have a free site, you'll have a hard time getting accepted into this free program.

Second, most of the hosting solutions I will recommend later offer some kind of software or web building tool to create your pages so you don't have to know HTML or any programming to successfully build your site.

Search Engines Will Ignore You!

This is probably the biggest disadvantage - especially if you are trying to make money and attract free traffic to your site. There's no proof that you can never get listed with Google or Yahoo with a free website, but it's evident that the cards are stacked against you.

Search engines are an excellent source of free traffic so you definitely do not want to miss out on the great, targeted traffic you can receive.

Years ago it was super easy to get listed no matter what kind of site you had (free or paid). But now with all the spam techniques going around (particularly with free sites) the search engines have gotten very selective about who they add.

Here are the reasons I believe it's hard to get listed in search engines with a free site:

1. Too small and "unimportant." Most free sites are generally small (under 5 pages) and offer very little information about a focused theme or concept. They also tend to have more links to external sites than they do to their own internal pages.

Search engines are looking for meaty sites that offer information on a particular theme with a good amount of content -- at least 20 pages.

2. No upkeep. A lot of people that build free websites often abandon them within a few weeks or months which causes a lot of broken links, missing images, etc.

The search engines are getting smarter and for all we know they may have red flags in their algorithm (the formula that determines page rankings). So when they see that a site is hosted on a free web host's server, they may rank them lower...if at all.

For example, I wouldn't be surprised if the search engines had a script that says something like: "If site X is hosted at this-free-domain.com then "ignore".

I have no proof of this, but due to the fact so many people email me with this same search engine problem, it can't be a coincidence that people using free web hosts have trouble getting ranked.

Do a search for just about anything on Google now. I bet you'll see very few (if any) sites built with a free web host.

3. No links pointing to the site. Because of reasons 1 and 2, most other webmasters and important web directories won't link to a site built on a free host.

They may not look as professional and people don't want to give a free link to a poorly developed site with pop-ups and banners all over the place.

Plus, they also know that free sites generally have short life spans for various reasons.

Search engines use formulas and can see that no one is linking back to your site so they may ignore it. These days, the kinds of websites linking to you is so very important for achieving a good search engine rank.

The bottom line: Free websites get very little respect out here on the Internet.

Free Websites & Ecommerce Don't Mix

It amazes me how many people tell me that they want to start a business website but don't want to spend any money.

I personally don't know of a single successful website owner that built their business website on AOL or Geocities' website builder.

If you were starting an offline business, you'd plan on investing some money right? Well, doing business on the web is no different despite many beliefs. If you don't plan to invest anything to start a business then I'd have to question your drive.

There are NO SHORTCUTS to success.

You can't expect people to take you or your site seriously if your website address starts with something like is http://myfreesite...

And if the address doesn't tip your visitor's off, the banners and pop-ups you'll be forced to display sure will. Also, the templates (if any!) they provide are generally very basic and lacking a professional appearance.

Think about it. Wouldn't you be a little suspicious if the web address of a business was something like http://members.aol.com/users/myhomepage.html with pop-ups and banners instead of www.companyABC.com?

Web surfers are becoming much more Internet savvy and they can smell a "cheap site" a mile away. You don't want to lose credibility and potential customers because your site looks cheap.

Not to mention, you can only do some much with a free host. So if you want to add shopping carts, order forms and additional interactive features you probably won't be able to do this because most free hosting companies don't offer that kind of functionality.

The Best Way to Build a Website

My recommendation is to register your own domain (dot com) name and build your site from scratch.
