Embossing Powder and Glue Pens!

My Adventure with Embossing!

I want to start by saying that I have seen so many people on Instagram that are posting videos and pictures of them embossing notebooks, glasses, cards...etc I really wanted to give it a shot so I splurged. I went out to the art supply store and bought some supplies! I will only be showing you a couple of things for now.. more to come soon! ;)

So I ended up purchasing these items online actually because I could not find them anywhere and I have heard so many great things about them, and I am glad I got my hands on them!

So I ended up purchasing two Ranger Emboss it pens 2 pack one clear and one black ink, and a copper super fine embossing powder. I also bought the heat tool at my local art supply store for $30.

This is what It looks like with the embossing powder sprinkled on top. I just turned the paper and let the excess fall off. The white powder is actually cornstarch, it prevents the powder from sticking to the surface without the glue to make for a clean finish. On the top I used the black ink marker and on the bottom I used the clear ink marker. You can see a difference.

This is the heat embossing tool that I purchased at my local art supply store. It works great and I have zero complaints about it! It has a long cord as well so you can plug it in and put it wherever you like, and the best part is that it comes with a built in stand so you don't have to worry about burning anything when you set it down (it gets very very hot!)

There you have it, I love the finish of embossing powder. It is raised and gives nice texture and shine to a card. I took this picture with my phone so unfortunately you don't get a good reference of the copper colour, but I will say its amazing in person. I just used it on a paint chip, hehe :)

Overall I have to say that I am very impressed because I have tried multiple other glue pens and applications and this one is overall my favorite outcome. Nice and smooth.

I also would like to mention that this is so much fun to do and the possibilities are endless! You can personalize almost anything, I have been making personalized birthday cards for people I know, or you could even personalize a mug or a notebook cover...etc You can get any color embossing powder that you can imagine. They even come in matte and holographic and much much more!

I cant wait to show you what is to come in the future because I am having a blast with all of these new supplies I picked up!

These were some really really good potato chips!

They are thicker than most chips we have here in Canada and they are not too salty and have an amazing flavour.

I couldn't find this product anywhere online to compare. I would also purchase these online if they became available, but for now I can only find them on Wowbox website.

They are made by Tohato but I cannot seem to find any information on that either.

Ultraman Milky

I also couldn't find much information on this product, but overall I loved this one.

This candy was my second favorite in the box. It's a hard candy that tastes similar to yogurt. It tastes so smooth and silky for a hard candy.

Big Thunder & Crisp Thunder

Well let me start with the big thunder. This bar was AMAZING.

I have heard about this iconic bar before but when I tried it for the first time I knew why it was so popular.

Its very light and thin but the chocolate cookie inside is so moist and crunchy. The chocolate coating it is melt in your mouth quality chocolate. I would purchase these for sure!

Then there's the Crisp thunder..

This one surprised me for sure. It looks like a typical chocolate bar with nuts in it. Oh-no was I wrong. This Quasi-chocolate has some amazing things inside including peanuts, konpafu, corn flakes, rice puffs and almond praline. I loved everything about every bite I had of this mini bar.

Umaibo Mentaiko

Umaibo is a very popular snack in Japan and has been around for many many years. It is a long- cylindrical puffed corn snack and comes in many many flavours. The name Umaibo literally means "delicious snack".

Mentaiko means 'marinated roe of pollock and cod'.

I have had Umaibo before I believe in BBQ flavour and I loved it. I am super excited to try this one out. As I cant eat it all in one day!

Scorn japanese-style BBQ

These were very yummy as well. These are also a corn puff style snack. These remind me of the crunchy cheetos that we have here in canada, but instead of cheese its like a bbq flavour. The BBq flavour tastes just like a Beef Mr.Noodle sauce mix (Ramen noodles) I thought this was a great snack and something we can't find here.

Baby Star Ramen Mini

These were one of my favourites in the box, which i surprising because I am a sucker for sweet things over savory.

Have you ever taken a pack of ramen noodles and crushed them inside the package and eat them like a snack? I used to do this all the time when I was younger.

These are basically that.. they have a nice salted flavour to them and what I did was actually mix the Scorn corn puffs above and these together. Since I thought that that Scorn tasted like ramen I had to try mixing them together, and it was better than I imagined! I will definitely be finishing these two snacks together.

Awadama

These are pretty good hard candies.

They are lemon-lime and blue is Cider flavour. These were interesting as I didn't know what to expect from these. Instead of those hard candies with a fizzy pocket in the center, these have the fizz mixed all through the candy so its almost like sucking on a soda!

Pocky Midi Lemon

Pocky Midi give you way more chocolate on shorter cookie sticks... this time in lemon flavour. The cookie sticks coupled with the extra thick chocolate makes it extra delectable.

This box came with 12 deluxe sticks, each box has 3 separately sealed bags of 4 sticks each. I like this because they will stay fresh for longer, or you could share them.

I am usually not a fan of lemon but this one I did not mind, it wasn't tarte and it was extra chocolatey!

I also found that they have some very interested packaging that comes with this line. I loved it and think it is so cute. I will have to try and get my hands on that drink

Maken Gummy Cola

Of course, whats a Japanese snack box without something cola flavoured? I thought that the rock, paper, scissors shaped cola gummies were my favourite thing in this months Wowbox.

Cola gummies are one of my favourite things, and this is my all time fave! This gummy so so soft and sweet and was sooo good, even my boyfriend wanted a second bite! (he likes the savoury snacks over sweets)

I will definitely be purchasing some of these online for myself ;)

Kajiriccho

Muscat and Soda

mmm... this one I don't even know what to say about it, and I have no idea how to describe it.

Its like a very soft stick thats also chewy and silky in your mouth.. sounds nice right? WRONG

Have you ever smelt a Muscat perfume?

I don't know where they got the idea to mix Muskat and grape soda flavour but I don't agree that It tastes good. I really really did not like this one.

I looked around and they also have a soda and nutmeg flavour, which I would be willing to try. They have some very intriguing flavour but I am hesitant about them and probably would never purchase these on my own.

Big Katsu

This one I was very nervous for. The paper with the product descriptions on it says this

"Enjoy the taste of Japanese tonkatsu (pork cutlet) in snack form, with this crunchy treat boasting in tonkatsu sauce flavour"

So we tried it..

Overall I can't complain about this product but I definitely would not go to purchase this on my own. It was very...interesting to say the least. I am still a little weary because of some of the ingredients used like Shredded fish surimi which literally is "ground meat" this refers to a paste made from fish or other meat. It is available in many shapes, forms and textures and often uses to mimic the texture and colour of the meat of lobster, crab and other shellfish....

Kurabete Neru Neru

I am not a very big fan of DIY snack products.

Why? Because they never come with english instructions, even though it was pretty straight forward.

I have never come across a DIY that actually tastes good, I don't know what kind of ingredients they use in products like this but I almost feel its not even safe to eat.

This product is good for kids who want to play with their food and have a little bit of fun, but I wouldn't give this to my children because I have no idea whats inside.

The only thing I liked about this product is it comes out looking like it does on the packaging.

If your kid(s) likes Magic they might like this :P

I through this right in the garbage

Candy Japan Subscription Box

Today I will be reviewing a Japanese Candy Subscription box.

I am a candy fanatic and will put sugar in my mouth at any chance I can. I love candy but especially when it comes to things I have never had before and things that you simply just cannot get here in Canada. Well now we can! Candy Japan offers Japanese candies to people worldwide!

This subscription service delivers japanese candies to your door

not once a month but twice! This months shipment was a box containing three items. Fizzy chewy candies, a crispy chocolate wafer snack and a "juicy" pressing kit.

Puccho Balls

Puccho is very popular in Japan. They usually come in squares with little gummies inside, and there of tons of different flavors depending on where in Japan you find them. These soda flavored Puccho Balls have a crunchy outer-shell with a chewy and sour center that makes your mouth fizzle! The package is also designed to slide, so you can keep your Puccho yummy and fresh.

This candy is perfect for on the go and I am definitely going to keep this in my bag so I can have a sweet treat wherever I get a sweet tooth.

Chocolate Shimi Corn

This wafer snack is soaked in chocolate and they really want you to know it! The package reads "shimikonda," (しみこんだ) which means "to soak." It's crispy, practically melts in your mouth and doesn't really taste like corn. Go figure. It's in the shape of a star, hence the smiley little mascot on the wrapper. The only thing I can compare the taste to is the Wafer cookies that have cream in the middle of each layer, you get them here in Canada, but these are much different. When you feel this, it feels very hard but when you take a bite of it, it just melts in your mouth and tastes so yummy.

Juu-C Kit

This is like a DIY Pez kit. It comes with pineapple and grape flavors, as well as soda flavor. It has a very creamy texture and it's very sweet! I love all of the flavours and they remind me of my childhood. It was fun to make them and fun to eat the interesting flavours.

For $25.00 a month you could have two shipments of candy to your door with free delivery! It simply cannot get any better.

Overall Thoughts

I loved this subscription box, and now that I have a job I might have to start subscribing when I have some cash flow! I definitely recommend this service.

Not a bright future for my nails :(

If you are friends with me on facebook you might know that I might have a job in a kitchen!
Exciting...yes! I want to open up my own bakery one day and this is my big opportunity to get my foot in the door! But then there's the sad news...

Many of you may or may not know but you are not allowed to wear nail polish in the kitchen for many reasons. This is so heartbreaking! I have just started to take care of my nails again and enjoy painting them, and now I have to stop. Anyways I hope to keep painting my nails on special occasions and maybe I will have to start painting my toe nails! For now I will be expanding my criteria to more products and some subscription boxes and whatever else you would like to see here!

Today I will be reviewing some LÄRABAR'S and you have probably seen them in your local grocery store, pharmacy or convenience store. As soon as these arrived in my mailbox, me and my boyfriend couldn't resist. (Which is why two have already been opened before I got to take a photo haha).
He grabbed for the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and I grabbed Apple Pie.

By now we have both tried all of the flavours we were sent! I loved every single one and there was nothing I didn't like about these bars! My boyfriend liked them so much we went out and even bought a couple of new flavours which we still have yet to try out!

Lets get to the review..

Coconut Cream Pie ( Dates, Unsweetened Coconut, Almonds, Cashews and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.)

I decided to cut one of the bars in half to show you how the bars look. I know I know they dont look very appealing but dont let the appearance fool you, they are so delicious once you taste them you wont be able to resist! Dont blame Larabar for that one ;)

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip

I absolutely love anything peanut butter and chocolate chip, so I instantly knew I would love this one.

It has 4 Ingredients:
Dates, Peanuts, Chocolate Chips, and Sea salt

It has a nice chewy, yet crunchy texture to it. The dates are what makes it so chewy and I love the crunch the peanuts. You can taste everything in this simple yet so yummy bar! It does taste like peanut butter chocolate chip and what can get any better than that right?!

Apple Pie
(In Canada known as 'Apple')

This is my second favourite! It reminded me of actual home baked apple pie...mmmm
This whole bar is under 200 calories and provides 1 FULL serving of fruit! Thats pretty awesome!

It has 6 Ingredients:
Dates, Almonds, Unsweetened Apple, Walnuts, Raisins and Cinnamon

This bar was so so yummy, I love apple pie and it was just that! Its not to sweet, and spiced with just enough cinnamon and enough chewiness that was perfectly combined to make this astounding apple pie flavour!

Coconut Cream Pie
(In Canada known as 'Coconut Cream')

I like me some coconut but I dont like it all the time. Luckily this bar was just to yummy to resist!

It has 5 Ingredients:
Dates, Unsweetened Coconut, Almonds, Cashews and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

This bar is so delightful. Its like taking a coconut cream pie on the go! Crazy right?
Well Im not the biggest fan of coconut I really enjoyed this bar as much as I would a good coconut cream pie! I love coconut cream pie and didn't think this bar could live up to the standards. But to my surprise this was delicious and me and my boyfriend wasn't a fan of coconut so I had this all to myself!

Cherry Pie
(In Canada known as 'Cherry')

I am a fan of the classic cherry pie and I never thought that this bar could ever taste like a cherry pie with only 3 ingredients! I was wrong.

It has 3 Ingredients:
Dates, Almonds and Unsweetened Cherries

This bar contains 1 Full serving of fruit, 4grams of Fiber and 5 grams of Protein!
I love the taste of cherry pie, how its all gooey in the middle. This bar actually replicates all the qualities of a cherry pie with only three ingredients! Its got a tarte and tasty, it is chewy like the gooeyness of the filling and it sure is delicious!

If you are interested in purchasing some tasty Larabars for yourself or someone else, you can usually find them at your local grocery store, or pharmacy, convenience store and even gyms now. Some places I have found Larbars at is Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada and Metro here in Canada and they are around $1.79 ( Dont quote me on that).

They also offer a wide variety of flavours, you just have to check the nutrition facts on each bar because of the ingredients used the amount of calories, fiber and protein...etc varies a lot. Here are some of the flavours they have to offer :

I was a little bit nervous to try these as I have never had any sort of seaweed in my life, but I was willing to give it a try. When I took them out of the package I was shocked at how cool they looked and it made me want to try them! I loved the Classic Olive flavour! Me and my boyfriend love spicy foods and snacks and immediately gravitated to these. These were just absolutely amazing, they had a very distinct chipotle flavour and were very very spicy. If you do like spicy stuff I highly recommend these, my bf has a really high spice tolerance and even he thought they were hot!

Just Tomatoes

I have never really had any dried veggies and I was expecting these to be crunchy like a chip. When I opened the bag you can really smell the tomato and when I tried one, It was like rubber? I'm not a fan of things you have to keep chewing and chewing and chewing and doesn't break down. These tasted really yummy none the less, but they are just hard to eat overall. I have tried putting them in a spaghetti sauce and they were good after a little bit of cooking, I probably would not eat these raw but opt for cooking with them.

I can imagine them going really well with some guacamole!

This bar was really tricky to get out of the wrapper to begin with. It may not look good to eat but it tastes really good! It tastes like a brownie that has nuts in it, its just more dense than a brownie of course cause its a bar. I would love to take this bar on the go or just eat it whenever because the antioxidant orac value is 34.100!

I was really excited and thought that this would have a strong berry flavour. Me and my boyfriend both agree it taste like thick Applesauce with a little berry flavour but I wouldn't really name this berry unless all I could taste was berries, but in my case it was just like apple sauce and then theres a hard spout to eat it from and you can never get the last bit out! Overall it was really yummy but not berry.

Overall value if I were to go purchase these products myself is $39.55

If I were a serious health but I would totally purchase this box every month but for average people like me its just a nice treat every once in awhile and they also have a gift option. I know alot of people that I dont know what to buy for them, but they like food, this would be the perfect gift!

What's in the box?

Subscribers will receive a box of hand picked accessories from great up and coming brands.

I was sent a box to review because I had seen some previous reviews on it such as.

" Great first box. The Nine West clutch and wing earrings are my favorites. The box contained five items; fancy wallet, cute leopard print insoles, footsies, and the my two favs mentioned earlier. I am very pleased with this box as the items received are ones I wouldn’t normally purchase on my own. Absolutely looking forward to the next months surprise. Will there be a belt or hair accessory or necklace or bracelet include…the possibilities are endless. - MJ "

This made me intrigued to what the box contains next month. This box costs $35 a month.

So this is what the box looks like, its not one of those sturdy boxes. Its light weight. This months box featured two small business owners.

This was the biggest item this month and it looked so cute wrapped in the animal print fabric and I was kind of excited!

This is a 'Clutch' made by the first featured business owner April McCain of A.Nicoles Divine Designs. This was handmade and she specializes in custom handbags, clutches, etc.

I didn't like this 'Clutch' for many reasons, I dont like the silver pattern on the denim to start. I dont like that is only has one cut corner. I mean why only one cut corner?

I also did not like the size of this 'Clutch'. When I think of a clutch I think of something smaller to keep my cards and phone in right? This thing can hold like 6 of my regular size wallets and like a bunch of phones and makeup, its so huge. I didn't like how big the strap on the side was, well I didn't like the strap at all. I would have preferred a removable strap.

I did like the inside polka dot pattern but unfortunately I think it totally clashes with the outside pattern.. dont ya think? She also has like a fold over type of clutch that I would be more interested, and different patterns.

The next business owner was Nikki Fiedler, an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

She sent us some samples of some Moisturizer in the orange packaging, some cleanser in the 2 green foil packs, a sample of 'thinking of you' fragrance by mary kay, and a sample of 2 lip glosses and and eyeshadow 'quad'. Personally if I was paying $35 monthly for accessories I wouldn't want cheapo makeup samples like this.

The other items included in this months box are an ear cuff and a gold-multi coloured bib necklace that are trending this summer.

Okay well I liked this at first glance but after looking at it more and more I realized I didn't.

It is that REALLY fake gold colour which is ok, but I'm not one of those people who likes it. I like the idea of this necklace but even when I flipped it over to the backside I seen all those pieces of string like hot glue gunned to the back, which I should have gotten a picture of.

Unfortunately I cannot wear the earring as I am allergic and can only wear pure gold but I thought they were cute.

Again I hate to say it but it feels very cheap, like something I would find at the dollar store for a buck.

Last but not least I have a cute little peacock ear cuff. At first I liked it and once again I cannot wear it because I am allergic but I would totally wear this if I could. It was the only this in this box that I actually liked and I can't wear it! :( I am hoping I can give it to someone and they will like it but it looks like it has a weird shape to it.

It also came packaged as you see here... on some foam. I held it up to my ear and it looks kind of funny but we will have to see when I find someone to wear it for me! :)

Overall thoughts on this box

I would not purchase this box for $35 a month! That is absolutely ridiculous! I had stumbled upon this photo of what they say may 2013 box was and I was excited to get this box. After seeing what you actually get, I feel like every box is going to get cheaper a cheaper quality products.

What are your thoughts on this box? Am I being too hard on it?

Non-Official Hiatus Over!

It has been a slow and rough 8 months for me since I last posted on my blog. Sad I know. :(
I have been on a slow path being in school for cooking/baking and trying to find a job, never mind the constant dealing
with life, family and friends and such. Theres always something going on!

So even though I never took an official hiatus, Im glad to announce that it is over!
I a, back for the long haul, whether I post as frequently as I used to I am going to slowly recover.

I want to start doing more posts on different subject/categories such as fashion, cosmetics, nail polish, random product reviews and such.
I would like to know what you would like to see more of as my audience.

I cannot wait to hear what you say and get a post out to you guys soon!

First Attempt At Nail Art Foils!

So I know I have been away from my blog for a while but the good news is I am in school doing cooking and baking also known as Hospitality/Tourism. I am just going to jump right into this one as I was super excited for this one not only because its my first time with foils but I haven't painted my nails in so long that this was so much fun! :)

This is the end result and I was super pleased with the results. I absolutely love foils as they are so unique, there's endless possibilities with foils. Here I just painted my nails with a base coat and then some black polish. I chose the black because I really wanted the colours of the foils to pop!

So this is the nail art foil I got from Born Pretty Store. They have a nice collection of foils for only $2.99 a piece! Thats an incredible deal considering how much comes in the container and because you really only use a tiny piece for every manicure.

Heres a preview of some of their nail art foils as of today October 20, 2012.

I had some of this printing foil around and its basically the same thing as the nail art foil, theres a clear film and the design comes off when you transfer it onto something.

I should mention that I didn't have any nail art foil glue. I had found some tutorials online that showed just using any clear polish as the glue.

You basically put the clear polish where you want the design to transfer onto. You could do your entire nail or just little spots like I did here. You have to wait until the clear polish is almost dry so its still tacky. You have to play with it and get it right or the design won't transfer onto your nail.

Now you can either top coat it but a lot of people in this case when using foils do not top coat it. Because it is a foil it will wrinkle a little and not look the same when you put a topcoat on top of it. There are top coats out there that do not affect the foils but you would have to look into that because I am not sure which ones work best.

I had a lot of fun playing with these foils and I cant wait to use them again and get some more with different colours and designs!

Today I have a post that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat this whole long weekend! As you all probably know that TIFF Festival is coming up soon on September 5th-15th.

L'Oreal being on the official sponsors for TIFF 2013, they have come out with this luxurious collection of nude lipsticks and nail polishes. Even if you can't make it to TIFF this year you can still be a part of it with this collection! These were inspired by some celebrities you may know, Doutzen Kroes, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, and Freida Pinto.

I love love love the packing with the gold accent to the brushed matte black casing, it is just so classy and beautiful looking and I love the touch of the handwriting as signatures.

These colours are just stunning and suitable for every and any skin tone out there. Personally I love the Doutzen (Barely Pink) Collection the most because of my pale skin and pink undertones in my skin.

I have tried all of these on my lips as well, (just don't have the skill to photograph my lippies quite yet). They are super moisturizing, considering I have very dry lips and anything I put on them flakes off right away, I loved these formulas and I don't usually like lipsticks a whole lot compared to lipglosses.

They are quite beautiful colours and they dry to almost a semi matte as you can see in the photo. If you look closer in the Freida lipstick it has lots of teeny tiny golden shimmer in it.

Now onto my fave part.... the Nail Polish!

The Doutzen (Barely Pink), The Eva (Barely Golden), The JLo (Barely Greige), and The Freida (Barely Parma)

The Doutzen Barely Pink - I love this shade of pink on my skintone i think its so stunning and complimentary to my pink undertones, I have never found a nude like this that is so perfect! This colour is sheer on the first coat, but by the second its pretty opaque and in the image you can only barely see the white tips on my nails. This colour is just so classy, I would rock this on the red carpet for sure!

The Freida Barely Parma - I am usually not to big on brown but this one.... just knocked the others out of the league. This is by far the most gorgeous brown out there as a polish that I know of and it is so creamy. I usually don't aim for darker colours because I am so pale, but it seems that L'Oreal nailed it again on making these colours suitable for every skintone. This is such a gorgeous chocolate brown, I love it!

The J Lo Barely Greige - I was surprised when I seen this colour to be honest because all of the other colours kind of match the colour of the lipstick that goes along with it. I was surprised but I like the fact that J Lo had picked to different colours, I love the J Lo lipstick colour and I love this colour on my nails even more! This is another very creamy colour they are just the perfect formula.

The Eva Barely Golden - This one was hard to photograph but I love the turnout! You can see its a very deep brown with red undertones in it. Almost a very deep purple/brown. I have mentioned before that I don't normally aim for dark colours but this one is different, its very sheer. I also don't usually go for sheer polish because I like most of my polishes opaque. This one is an exception for one reason, the formula is amazing! This is one of those polishes that if you don't go over every spot up to your cuticle you will see the layers, but you can always clean up with some acetone.

The two polishes next to The Eva Nude are NOT from this collection but I thought I would make myself a Glitz-n-Glam Red carpet mani! I used L'Oreals Matte Top Coat and also the Carat Gold Top Coat.

Overall Thoughts

I'm pretty sure that I will rock all of these polished all throughout the year, whether it be all dressed up or even dressed down! These colours are perfect for any occasion and any skin tone, how much better can it get?

Easiest Way To Apply Polish / Nail Tattoos

Today I have an exciting post that may change the way you polish your nails forever!

If you are like me, when I started polishing my own nails I ended up getting polish all over my fingers. The CreaNails product will forever change this!

** Please note I just came back from the cottage and my cuticles are in rough shape, trying to get everything back in order **

You get a total of 25 and 10 sizes for each hand. As you can see in the image above they give you more than one of the popular sizes such as 5,4 and 3 because some of your fingernails might actually be the same size.

Also I will be using my first ever Dior Polish and Illamasqua polish which I am super stoked about!

My favorite colour is purple and I am soooo in love with both of these shades that I couldn't resist using both of them at once! The Dior polish is called "398 Lilac Colorvision"... as you can see on the bottle and the Illamasqua is called "Harem". Both of these polishes have a very nice creme consistency, but I really don't like the Illamasqua brush, its really tiny.

First you want to find the size you need for each finger and on the back of the packaging for the Crea Nails there is a chart so you can write down the number for each finger on each hand incase they are different and so you can always remember which sizes you are! I thought this was really handy because I don't wanna have to try them all on everytime I use polish.

After you have found the correct sizes (it should fit snugly but not too snug or it will cover up part of your nail), now you can go ahead and paint your nails as usual. In my case I wanted to do a gradient so I put my two colours on a cosmetic sponge and sponged right onto my nails and the CreaNails product.

As you can see here, all of this polish you see on the Crea Nails product would have ended up all over your fingers, and sure you could tape them up but this is so much more convenient, you just slip them on your finger and paint and slip them off! Thats it, theres no placing tape on your fingers and cutting it off!

These are really easy to clean as well, just take a q-tip with acetone or nail polish remover and clean off the polish.

Of course you will still have some mess to clean up if you used a sponge like I did, but this is nothing compared to what I would usually have to clean up all over my fingers. You can even see here a little, my thumb nail has nearly no polish on it and that was because I layed one strip of tape at the cuticle over top of the Crea Nails product and it worked like a dream, even less clean up!

After the very quick and easy cleanup this is how my gradient turned out and couldn't be more happy with these two colours!

Also The Crea Nails came with the French Manicure strips and you just put them on top of the Crea Nails product for the perfect french tip!

In this photo I used some FakeTattoos, These are tattoos you put on with water, just like the ones from when you were a kid, but these ones are for your nails! Genius right?!

1. Paint your nails with a base coat

2. Paint your nails with a base of white to make the colors pop!

3. Take a cosmetic wedge and put one color at the top and the next color underneath, overlapping a little, and make sure there is enough polish soaked into the sponge.

4. Sponge on the polish and let it dry (it should dry quickly because the layers of polish are very thin) and repeat this process until the polish is opaque.

Hint: Try placing the sponge up or down rather than in the middle to blend the colors better.

5. Take your fake nail tattoos that you can get at http://www.faketattoos.se/en/ and cut out the letters or image you want to put on your nail, remove the plastic coating and take a wet piece of sponge or towel and place the tattoo on your nail and place the wet sponge on top.

The paper from the tattoo will start slipping off when its ready to come off, don't force it.

6. Do this for all your nails and wait 5 minutes for the tattoos to completely dry.

7. Apply your top coat. (Should not affect the tattoos.)

Overall Thoughts

I'm pretty sure I will be using these every time I polish my nails and know I'm going to have a big mess to clean up such as this gradient.

These are SOOO handy because I'm not good at painting my left hand and as you can see in the picture above here, that is my left hand and it came out just as good as my right hand!

Another handy thing is that you don't have to apply any harsh chemicals to you fingers all you have to do is remove the polish from the product not your fingers! Remember the only reason that I still had to clean up a bit was because I used a sponge and did not use the finger nail polish brush.

Half Moon Glitter Gradient

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I have just made up a quick post for you all while I am away at my cottage. If you would like to see some photos of my cottage while I'm here please leave some comments below and Ill be sure to share it with you guys.

For a quick but classy/ elegant nail design all you need is two nail polish colours of your choice and some sequins.

I was looking at all of my polish and I realized I haven't done many black/white or black/grey manis. I instantly grabbed my Essie Licorice and Essence Grey-t To Be Here.

I wanted to use Grey-t To Be Here because I love the pink shimmers in it. You can barely tell they are there but when you notice, you will never not notice again ;)

I then dug around a little more and found my trusty sequins. I love them so much because they are so versatile in the nail art world and you can use them on just about every mani if you wanted to haha.

Overall Thoughts

I absolutely adore how this came out and I will have to do it again on some fancy occasion because it is just too beautiful. What kind of occasion would you try this for? Grad, Prom, Wedding...etc?

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat - Swatch and Nail Art

Hey everyone! I have been really craving a texture mani lately and I just got these Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes that everyone was raving about! I also really wanted to try out the iKat nail design, as soon as I seen it on someone else I just knew I had to try it and share it with you guys and knew I had to combo these two ideas together.

These are the two colours that I have and from what I know about these two, I freaking love these polishes! These are my first textured polishes and I was a little worried thats it would be scratchy and I wouldn't like it or it would chip or take a long time to dry.
I was completely wrong!

Cotton Candies Lick-O-Rich

I fell in love! I cannot keep my hands off of my nails. I also love that they dry super fast and to a semi matte finish. Also this mani lasted me over 5 days without chipping. I was totally shocked because if you want to keep the textured look you cant use a top coat, and without a topcoat this lasted me over 5 days! Thats seriously amazing!

I would totally recommend doing one coat and waiting a couple minutes for it to dry so you dont drag any texture off your nail. Here I used 2 Coats of pink and black and it was perfectly opaque and has plenty of texture.

I also used Sally Hansen 'White On' and 'Mint Sorbet' from the 'Xtreme' line and just put thin coats of those and it didn't ruin the texture at all. I really loved how the iKat design came out with the textured polishes.

Overall Thoughts
I am officially obsessed with texture polish and Im sure you will be seeing alot more of it from me. Please let me know what you think of my first time iKat design and would you try doing it with Sugar coats?

Cookie Monster Nail Art / Tutorial

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I just had some spare time and decided to do some nail art. I was debating on a bunch of designs and finally decided to settle for a velvet cartoon mani.

**In case you didn't know there are many names for a 'Velvet' manicure such as a 'Suede' or

'Flocking Powder' mani.

______________________________________________________________________________

Things you will need to complete this mani:

• Blue, Black, Brown/Nude, White Nail Polish

• Blue, Black, Brown, White Flocking Powder
• Small Nail Art Brush and/or Dotting Tool

• Black Studs

• Top Coat

______________________________________________________________________________

1. I first painted my nails with a base coat and then painted my middle finger blue and the rest a brown/nude colour.

When your doing a velvet manicure you really want to make sure your nails are completely dry before you start with the flocking powder

2. On the finger that is painted blue use a clear top coat and cover the whole nail and quickly take your blue flocking powder and carefully sprinkle it over the fresh top coat.

3. Wait about 35 seconds and gently tap your finger on the flocking powder to make sure it is secure to the fresh polish, then take your fan brush and gently wipe off all of the excess flocking powder.

4. Wait a couple of minutes for the polish to dry and then take a dotting tool and dip it in some white polish and make two dots for the eyes. Then quickly take the white flocking powder and sprinkle it over the fresh polish. Wait for it to dry and wipe the excess of with the fan brush.

5. Do the same thing as step 3&4 for the mouth with the black flocking powder and and use black polish for the mouth, make a half moon for the mouth with the a small paint brush and wait for it to dry.

6. Take two black studs and coat the bottom with some clear polish and stick them down onto the white flocking powder for the eyes. I did the classic googly eyes :P

7. While you wait for the mouth to completely dry paint some polka dots on one of the brown/nude nails and quickly do the same process with the brown flocking powder, and do the same for the rest of the brown/nude nails.

8. Take the brown/nude polish and paint a smaller half moon inside of the mouth and quickly do the same process with the brown flocking powder

Overall

I really hope you enjoy this cute cartoon mani! I love using flocking powder and even though it looks intimidating, its really not that bad to use. I really hope you enjoyed the little tutorial!

Hello everyone, for those of you who have yet to find out, Our wonderful Beauty Guru Talia Joy Castellano has passed away last Tuesday.

Talia was a treasured young lady by all of us in the beauty community, she was fighting two horrible battles with cancer, one neuroblastoma and preleukemia. She was one of the most talented young ladies I have ever seen. Her youtube videos were so special and just watching her makes your face light up with a smile! She was a extremely talented makeup artist and loved to do her nails and share them with the world! She was made an honorary Cover Girl, as you might have seen on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Layla is relatively new and sold at Lawtons on east coast, Quebec drugstores and London Drugs in Western Canada. It can also be purchased from NailPolishCanada.com and from Harlow and Co. online.

They offer a VERY wide variety of nail polish and many different effects such as Caviar Effect, Velvet Effect, Bubbly Effect, Magneffect, Hologram Effect, Mirror Effect, SoftTouch Effect...and many many more.

Today I will be reviewing the Ceramic Effect nail polish.

Ceramic Effect does not require the application of a base coat. The Ceramic Effect collection alone has over 65 different colours! Two of the winning features that I found while using the Ceramic polish was its brightness and drying time.

This is called "CE 18" so I looked up the name on the website and it's "Italian Blue Sky"

I am SO in love with this polish! I just adore the name of this polish as I am an Italian myself, this is called "Italian Blue Sky". I cannot begin to explain how perfect this polish is, you really do not need to use a base coat with this Ceramic Effect polish and it really only requires one coat. Yup a one coater and no base coat? how perfect. I love the finish as well, its such a beautiful ceramic finish. Your left with a beautiful shine without a top coat.

In this photo I used two coats and they dry SUPER fast. I was almost shocked when I looked down a minute after painting my nails and I was thinking 'Looks dry? Do I do the touch test?" So I did and it was completely dry! I was never expecting this polish to do as much as it has and I think I have found a new favourite!

The one and only problem with this polish is I cannot stop looking at my nails! There something hypnotizing about it I swear! I think anyone would love this polish and especially beginners because I really doesn't require a base coat or top coat. If you want it to last a long time I would top coat it but even without it this polish will last a very long time!

The one and only downside is that the polishes have names but not on the bottles. They have a number such as 'CE 18' and you have to look it up to find the names but Im pretty sure this is only with the Ceramic Effect polishes, the rest seem to have names on the bottles along with the number.

I couldn't resist doing a beach theme mani with this blue. I have seen a lot of beach theme manicures lately and thought I would do one to kick off the hot summer were having here in Toronto!

I also used this stamping plate that I ordered off of Ebay a long time ago so Im sorry I cant tell you anything about it other than it says F2. Overall Thoughts

I fell in love with this polish it is really a must have in anyones collection!

Sally Hansen Nail Art Part. 2

Today I decided to use some more of my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes!

First Ill show you the swatches of both colours individually, and I must say that I love this pink. I am not usually a pink fan but this one just.. suits me? :P I thinks its my pale pink undertone in my skin. Anyways...

This is 'Mauve it' I don't quite understand the name of this since Mauve is a purplish colour.. but I do love this pink. I normally stray far away from pinks but this one just fits so nice with my skin tone and I can actually wear it and not hate it! It is however very sheer,

here I applied 3 coats to get fully opaqueness.

This is 'Slick Slate' and I think the name fits perfectly, it does remind me of a deep dark grey slate colour. This was very opaque and you can get away with doing two coats, but here I have chosen to do three just to get the truest colour for the shot. I love this colour and again its something that I wouldn't normally just pick up.

I thought... what could I do with these two colours

and 'Elephants' came to my mind so I ran with the elephant theme and couldn't be happier at how it turned out. The feet came out so adorable and just thought I would throw an elephant in there!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Review and Swatches Part 1

ITS FINALLY FRIDAY!?

Todays post is going to be all about Sally Hansen!

I mean... who doesn't like Sally Hansen anyways?!

I have here the Insta-Dri polishes to review today, and I have also done some nail art!

I absolutely adore the names of these two colours,
'Lickety-Split Lime' and 'Rose Run'.

I love the Insta-Dri collection because they dry super quick, most of them are fully opaque in one coat and they have a really nice wide brush that makes doing your nails a lot easier even on the smallest nails.

You really cannot go wrong buying one of these polished from the Insta-Dri line because they can be found at the drugstore and are pretty cheap!

When I first got these two colours I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them! I think these colours compliment each other very well, but first lets get on to the swatches!

I loved this lime green so much because I find it so unique and I have nothing like it in my collection until now of course! It is such a nice yellow-toned green. Its a nice cream yet fluorescent polish?! Yes 2 in 1 and it has such a nice formula. I cant get over that it is SOO opaque in just one coat! Here I used two coats just to really get the true colour in the photo.

I love love this Rose Run Shade. It is such a perfect dusty rose colour! Again I didn't have anything in my collection quite like this colour! It is again a cream polish and has a nice consistency to it and only really requires one coat to be opaque.

Finally! Here is what I have decided to do with these two colours! I have been waiting for the perfect colours to fall into my lap to do this mani! I finally found them and cant get over this how nice the colours contrast each other! Its so spunky and cool!

I cant wait to show you all of the other Insta-Dri polishes I have!

Pretty & Polished Thermal Polish Review! + Handcream

Hello ladies, I just wanted to apologize for not posting recently but I had all four wisdom teeth removed 7 days ago now and I'm still recovering. I was so not feeling well and I didn't want to put up a shafty post for you. So nows the time!

Anyways! On with the review!

I was lucky enough to be apart of their blogger program! I am so grateful because this is my FIRST handmade polish and my FIRST thermal/colour changing polish as well! They also were kind enough to send me one of there Bath and Body items! I was sent the Melon Ball Hand and Body Lotion!
I was super duper exited to share this one with all of you so here we go!

This gorgeous polish is called 'Mirror Mirror'

The one on the left is the photo I took, I just wanted to compare because, in my case it looks like theres a TON of glitter and you cannot really see the glitter in their photo on the right.

I just wanted to show how beautiful it looks!

I absolutely fell in love with this polish when I first tried it on, its a blueish / purplish colour changing polish that has round pink glitters and square blue glitters in it.

Did I mention that all Pretty & Polished lacquers are cruelty free

and 3-free (Dibutyl Phthalate, Formaldehyde, and Toluene)

The first image here is under hot water to show you the lightest shade that it goes.

The middle image is luke warm water and the last is cold water.

I can even achieve a very cool Ombre look with this polish! This is what happens when you hold a cold drink! Haha, As you can see the lightest colour by the cuticle is from my hands being warm and the tips are blue because of the cold drink I was holding.

I was also sent there Melon Ball hand and Body Lotion to review and let me tell you, when I got it I opened it up and took a big whiff! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scent of this lotion, its so... 'Meloney'? It has a sweet and juicy scent to it and theres honestly nothing like it I've ever smelt before!

It is super duper moisturizing yet not greasy! That is a must have when I'm looking for a lotion for my hands, because I just cannot stand having greasy hands and everything I touch gets greasy to!

On the left is what you would get if you were to purchase the lotion. It comes in a 2oz squeeze bottle with a flip cap top, which I love for a lotion! I even love the simple / minimalistic packaging.

The photo on the right is the very generous sample they sent over my way. It came in a little container (big enough to hold a lot of lotion!) and I even love the little container! I cannot stop putting this on my hands because it smells so yummy I just want to eat it! *drools*

Hey ladies! Let me introduce myself. My name is Chelsey and I write the Canadian Beauty Blog, My Beauty Full Adventure. If the name isn’t enough of a giveaway I write about beauty products, amongst other things, and broadcast out of Windsor, Ontario. I have been part of the beauty blogging community for about 2 years now, and have loved every minute of it! On my blog you can find hauls, nail of the days, subscription box and other product reviews. Now I am not normally one for nail art because 1) I am lazy and, 2) I’m not that creative. However, when Alyssa asked me to guest post I knew I couldn’t just show any plain old nail polish swatch. Alyssa showcases some amazing nail art so I wanted to try and be artsy as well. After scouring Pinterest for hours…literally…I found something I knew I would be able to pull off. I chose to attempt a “straw manicure” because what is more beginner than sticking straws in nail polish and stamping them on my nails? Although my circles are not perfect, I am loving the turnout, and can see myself recreating this again and again.

To achieve this look I started with a white base. This consisted of 1 coat of an unnamed Revlon white polish, then 2 coats of Sally Hansen’s Polar Bear. Once that was dry I used 4 Kozmic Colour nail lacquers from Dollarama to create the circles. These polishes don’t have names, but the colours are neon pink, baby pink with shimmer, burgundy, and metallic silver.

The first few nails ended up with big spots, not circles, because it wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. I realized that since my nails are more rounded I needed to roll the straw over them to create the circles. I really like how no two nails look alike. It gives it an abstract art look.

Overall, I am really impressed with how well the Kozmic Colours worked in this manicure. The colour payoff and staying power of all the polishes were great. I got to about Day 5 and still had no chipping, or tip wear. Due to the success of this nail art attempt I am going to be starting a nail art series on my blog called “Nail Art 4 Beginners” (NA4B). That way I don’t have to learn new nail art techniques on my own!

Haute Tropics! Limited Edition!!

Revlon Haute Tropics Collection in: Hello Bali, Plunge Pool, Secluded Beach, Mai Tai Ask

Once again Revlon has sent me some more wonderful polishes!

This time they are LIMITED EDITION!

This new collection like I said is LIMITED EDITION

and will only be on shelves for 4 Weeks!

They come off shelves in mid July so ACT FAST!

There are 8 different shades to choose from
and they all have such cute summer names. Retail for around $5.99

This is 'Hello Bali' and I absolutely love this colour!
Its a creamy plum purple, and I LOVE purple :)

It is streaky when you only apply one coat or two thin coats but I prefer to do three for swatching purposes anyways. This is also sort of like a gelly polish if you only use one coat, Im sure you could do some pretty awesome gelly sandwiches with this! This is a very nice shade for summer and I cant wait to do a cute pedicure with this colour!

This is 'Mai Tai Ask?' and it is actually the only red-orange I have in my collection!

I did have one problem with this polish, but Ill explain that in a bit. This is such a nice bold creamy orange, but it also has reddish almost coral undertones and it really is quite unique!

Unfortunately this polish did not have a brush for some reason ( There was no brush screwed into the lid) so I promptly contacted Revlon and they got back to me SUPER fast! I got/read the email on a friday morning saying they would get a replacement out to me and I should get it shortly.

I was thinking ok, a couple days

....

DING DONG my doorbell rings and Revlon had sent a personal courier from there office in Missasauga to personally deliver me my replacement polish! I was astounded! They have amazing customer service and I am soo so happy to have had the chance to work with such an amazing company like Revlon!

This is 'Plunge Pool' and it is a gorgeous metallic blue. It reminds me of a glistening swimming pool in the summer sun. Its a really nice metallic and it is opaque in only one coat. I think this is a must have shade for the summer and I am loving blues right now!

This is 'Secluded Beach' and at first glance it just looks like a light brown taupe color. Well... there are also purple and pink undertones and a slight pink shimmer. This is like a nude polish but so much more extravagant! I love the pink shimmer, you can barely see it on the nail but I think it looks sexy. This takes the nude nail trend to a whole new level!

Overall Thoughts

Other than one of them coming with no brush, it was actually a great experience with Revlon still, they had amazing customer service and great nail polish! I love the consistency of the colours I received and cant wait to wear them all summer long!

'New Money', 'Royalty Reinvented', and 'Not A Cloud In Sight'

Loreal Was kind enough to send me a whole bunch of new releases! I will only be sharing a couple with you today. First let me tell you everything they sent to me, 3 new shades of polish from their new Colour Riche shade, 3 polishes from the Colour Riche Trendsetter collection, a set of L'Oreal's first ever press on nails, 3 sets of their new Nail Lingerie, and 3 new Colour Riche Nail Top Coats!

Today Im going to be reviewing New Money, Not A Cloud In Sight and Royalty Reinvented from the Colour Riche Trendsetter collection. As well as one of their new top coats, "Confetti".

First I started by Painting my nails with Not A Cloud In Sight then I used a cosmetic sponge and first put on purple then green and stamped it onto my nails. I did two coats of this.

I then took the new Colour Riche Top Coat Confetti and also used two coats of that.

The top coat contains small black & white hex and smaller circles of black and white, there is even a subtle shimmer.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I absolutely loved the formula and colours of these Trendsetter polishes. I think they are truly a trendsetter! I love the brushes as well. They are very large and I can cover my nail in two strokes!

This is also my first successful gradient and I am loving it so so much!

I am so exited to do more gradients this summer!
