I started throwing people out on the 3rd floor by presenting “You Are Auf’d” postcards, which didn’t go down so well. Most people just wanted to stay. So, I said: “All cute people have to leave and you are very cute. Just look around, who’s left?!”.
And down the stairs they went.

Now you can call it performance. But when is a drag queen not performing? HELLO?!

Yesterday, I heard How Long by Lipps Inc. for the first time. Immediately, I felt like a little schoolgirl but acted all super butch. No one around me noticed what was going on deep inside of moi. (Not that this is a change from any other day.)
Anyways, I got my disco lesson.

There’s no Hotnuts in July. We need a short summer break. Sorry. BUT – we’re coming back with a megabang at the end of August. Cody Critcheloe of SSION (prəˈnounst ’shun’) is going to be in town for the Toronto premiere of his movie BOY. The screening is going to be at Mercer Union on Saturday, August 28.

And afterwards, join us for Hotnuts. Or will it be Boynuts? I dunno. Cody will be performing and shake some iPods. And I heard, KevinHBomb might bring some house music?! YAY!

Cosima von Bonin has a big opening at Kunsthaus Bregenz on Saturday, July 17. I’m very honoured and excited to be part of the night. Right after the opening, there is a party on a boat, where Viola Klein and myself will be djing for all friends, party people and the sea urchins in Lake Constance. If you want to be local, just call it Bodensee. Basically, it’s like Lake Ontario but for Germany and Austria.

What is she going to wear to such an event, you might ask yourself?
Glad you asked. I’m going to wear a dress by Mary Messhausen (of course!), but from her Mary’o'nette collection. The dress features a digital silk print by the one and only Pandy Ramada. I’m so spoiled already. And this is not a hint.

Can’t wait for The Fatigue Empire.

This is the last Hotnuts before the summer break.

For the second time, I lost my Viktor & Rolf Shu Umera lashes this weekend in a drunk’n'drag accident. Today looked into buying them for a third time. Hoping it is going to be a charm.

That’s when I saw these babies: “inspired by architectural approach of future fashion, these elegant, silver coated lashes softly sparkle with moon shape sequins.”

And the shopping list is longer again.
Now, I need to work on making it shorter. WORK!

I have been listening to the Animal Collective remix of Welt am Draht quite a lot recently and it made me think of the Fassbinder movie of the same name. Made for TV in 1973 World On A Wire was rarely shown on television or at the movies. I remember watching it a few years back on a German Regionalprogramm. I really liked it, but it was very slow and made me a bit sleepy, which is not a bad thing. Loved the camera by Ballhaus, of course, including the mirrors placed in the sets = illusions? = divided nature? of the actors.

I found this Fassbinder quote about the movie at the MoMa site:

“a very beautiful story that depicts a world where one is able to make projections of people using a computer. And, of course, this leads to the uncertainty of whether someone himself is a projection, since in the virtual world projections resemble reality. Perhaps another, larger world has made us as a virtual one? In this sense it deals with the old philosophical model, which here takes on a certain horror.”

It seems that every article on Welt am Draht has to mention the movies Matrix, eXistenZ and most recent ones also Avatar. So, there you go, I mentioned them.

A completely restored version was shown at the Berlinale earlier this year. A DVD has been released in February including English subtitles.
