Some will be our grandparents, our parents and even our sons and daughters. It is with high regard we thank each of them for helping American to be “land of the free and land of the brave”.

Kathleen Bates, an American poet wrote the words to the song “America the Beautiful”. As we remember this weekend. We share some of the words to this beautiful song with some of the beautiful images that we share here at Promontory.

May we never forget and may we always remember. Happy Memorial Weekend.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

In this spirit, we present Promontory, which to us represents both a unique place and a timeless promise. Promontory is the place where our families unite in a legacy that continues from one generation to the next. It promises a lifestyle grounded in exciting outdoor recreation, a true respect for nature and a genuine stewardship of the land. Promontory is the promise we make to ourselves: to rediscover who we are and to make a lasting connection with our families.

Promontory enriches us and our families by providing unique and adventurous experiences and world-class amenities that truly take us away from the distractions of the world.
We choose Utah for its spectacular scenery, weather and accessibility. We choose Park City for its one-of-a-kind skiing, cultural attractions and small-town living. And we choose our wide-ranging, eleven-square-mile parcel of land for its vistas, its topography, its wildlife and its ability to bring us closer to the earth while keeping the rest of the planet at a convenient distance. This is the promise of Promontory.

A promise you’ll see reflected in every corner of the Promontory Conservancy and in every detail of the Promontory Master Plan – including the very symbol of Promontory: generations coming together, both enjoying nature and celebrating life.

One of nature’s amenities at Promontory when you become a home owner are the birds. Combined with outstanding real estate locations amongst aspen trees, pinon pine and brush, you will never go a day without seeing a bird! Each spring the birds begin nesting and the bird population comes alive with activity. You can hear an array of beautiful bird sounds. There are over 68 species of birds who make Promontory their home as documented by the research conducted through Utah State University.

The Mountain Bluebird can be seen in the mountain meadows. Their bright blue color and beautiful song make this bird a delight to watch. The red head and body of the house finch looks beautiful among the aspen trees. These birds eat grains and have big appetites for weed seeds such as dandelion and nettle. The dark eyed Junco is a small American sparrow. They love the shrubs and can be seen in the aspen trees.

Larger birds, especially raptor birds are majestic flyers. The Cooper’s hawk is fairly common in Utah. Dining on small rodents and other small birds this hawk will build a nest some 20 feet high in trees. The Golden Eagle one of the best known birds in North America can be seen on property. Their wing span can be as much as 7 feet in length and always awe inspiring to watch fly. Sometimes turkey vultures are mistaken for hawks. However, this bird can be identified by its unstable flight in the air, always adjusting wings and flying in pairs. Just as you would think of a vulture these birds feed on decay. They too are fun to watch!

For the best views of the birds, choose morning time when the birds are searching for food. Listen and watch and if you have a pair of binoculars you can see close up without disturbing the birds. Choosing a different location around property will ensure you see a wide variety of birds. The trail system will take you to a variety of viewing areas. Our golf courses have prime viewing areas, a perfect combination of natural beauty while golfing on one of our two award winning courses.

Just 30 minutes from an international airport, Promontory has become the market leader for Mountain Recreational communities. Legendary Park City is home to two of the top five ski resorts in North America according to Ski Magazine,, including #1 Deer Valley. Their service and impeccable grooming have made the resort #1 for five years running.

What many people don’t know is that Park City is also a great destination in the summer! Our mountains offer a relief from hot, humid or dusty summers. In the cool mountain air, Promontory boasts two championship golf courses ranked #2 and #3 in the state of Utah by Golf Digest, and the accolades keep coming. Our Jack Nicklaus signature course was recently ranked #1 in Utah by Utah Business Magazine. We’ve enjoyed an early spring, and our courses are in excellent condition. Our team of Promontory golf professionals have put together a great schedule of activities for golf purists and new golfers alike. So often it’s more about the camaraderie you enjoy with your friends and family — on and off the course.

Off the courses, Promontory has an incredible array of amenities, including Zen-inspired spa, tennis, fitness, an indoor/outdoor pool, a “Kid’s only cabin” and an Outfitter with 50 miles of hiking and biking trails. And opening in July, our newest Clubhouse, ‘The Shed” will be our newest center of family fun.

The Shed is an architectural marvel of glass and metal that greets you as you drive up our main road. Inside, you’ll find an Arts & Crafts Studio with 270 degree views, a 50-seat movie theater, General Store, Game room, Casual Dining restaurant and two lanes of bowling. We also have an indoor basketball arena that opens up to an outdoor amphitheater. Our Grand Opening will be on July 3 with a Star-Spangled Promontory Foundation event that will take you back in time to 1976.

So have you missed your chance to buy at Promontory? Absolutely not! Our inventories still have terrific values and we have a great selection of homes and home sites that you and your family will enjoy for generations to come. Check out our website at www.promontoryclub.com to find out more about us. Be sure to ask about our limited time offers on cabins and home sites that shouldn’t be missed. ”

His knowledge and training will help players of all skill levels correct body limitations that may be due to old injuries and other limitations. Ross can determine what the limitations are and how to correct those issues to better the golf swing and body. Ross has written an extensive paper that reviews the importance of correct golf fitness and the key elements that the professionals use in making their body in top shape for competitive golf.

In Ross’s review he says, “Taking a look at Rory Mcllroy today compared to when he emerged onto the European Tour there is a clear cut difference in his muscle mass. Rory rotates his hips farther than most golfers you will see, this has allowed him to build muscle while maintaining his flexibility. When watching Mcllroy hit a ball, at the top of his back- swing his shoulders rotate beyond the ball, furthermore, upon impact he stops his hip rotation ever so slightly and follows through with his hips rotating well past his target line. His ability to match strength and flexibility is why he is able to hit the ball so far despite his short stature.”

What can you do to reduce the risk of injury while playing Golf?

Every Golfer is built different and everyone has different limitations in their body. You can’t fix your swing or pain until you address your body limitations.

Find out today what your limitations are and how you can correct them and your swing. Contact Promontory’s Ross Duggan for an analysis and training. Pete Dye Canyon Golf. 435-333-4218

Do not approach the deer. Like all deer, mulies are unable to detect motionless objects, but their eyesight is extraordinarily sensitive to moving objects. The mule deer’s sense of hearing and smell are also extremely acute. Because of their acute smell they will find plants, shrubs and trees to eat and enjoy visiting the same areas to eat.

The mule deer gets its name from its large mule-like ears. Adult male mule deer are called bucks, adult females are called does, and young of both sexes are called fawns. The black-tailed deer is considered by some a distinct species though it is classified as a subspecies of the Mule Deer. Unlike its cousin, the white-tailed deer, mule deer are generally more associated with the land west of the Missouri River. The most noticeable differences between whitetails and mule deer are the color of their tails and configuration of their antlers. The mule deer’s tail is black tipped. Mule deer antlers are bifurcated, or “fork” as they grow rather than branching from a single main beam (as with white-tails).

The mule deer is the largest of the Odocoileus genus, standing, on the average, 40 to42 inches at the shoulders and stretching 80 inches or so nose to tail. An adult buck will weigh from 150-300 pounds on the hoof, with Does averaging 125-175 pounds .http://www.promontoryclub.com/natural_resources/mammalsDetails.php?MammalName=Mule%20Deer

Members and Guests at Promontory are advised to drive cautiously and not to feed any of the deer. Stay on the trail system and be aware of other animals that may be in the area. Stay your distance.

Promontory’s conservancy can help you with any questions or concerns you may have about the wild life on property.

Enjoy the beauty of Spring at Promontory! More Country. More Club
