In the test above, instead of ramping up to 250 concurrent users, we did an immediate bust of 250 concurrent users over the course of 60 seconds.

A Few Questions

Q: Where can I download this new version of Prosper202
A: You can't right now, it's currently only available via our new Hosted Tracking202 service

Q: What! Why Can't I download it?
A: The first reason is the optimizations we did and continue to do are a mix of hardware and software (server and app code). This allows us to push changes out in real-time, and you'll just have them without doing anything on your end. Also due to what we've done, setting up the new release is not as "simple" as uploading the php to the server, setting up a mysql database and configuring a few things.

Secondly, is our change in business model. We evaluated everything and no matter how we look at it, we believe our current model doesn't scale. It's great for a one-two person company, but that's about it. In order to grow and serve you better, we are charging for premium services that will enable us to grow.

Q: Will there ever be a downloadable upgrade to Prosper202 1.7.2
A: Yes, we have bug fixes and feature that we will be launching soon. However, our main priority for new releases will be the fully managed hosted Tracking202 platform, followed by the the downloadable self hosted solution. But from this point on, the feature set of the two version will start to diverge.

Q: I don't want you to see my data and steal my campaigns, please just let me host it myself etc etc
A: We don't care about you data and campaigns in that way. Our main goal is to provide the best in affiliate tools and services to our users, and we've been trusted to do that since 2007. If you don't want to use our hosted platform, feel free to send us a donation and download the self-hosted version.

I was walking around the Ad:Tech showroom when I saw a monitor showing a video of a guy drawing at high speed. I immediately noticed it was the company behind the ultra engaging and addictive video scribing or whiteboard animation videos. I've been seeing on a number of websites, and you probable have too.

The company guides you through the entire process and will even create a script for you based on information you give them. The animations are done by talented animators (think Disney) and we even managed to grab a special deal for of you - see the end of this post for details.

Ok I have to come clean, because so many people got excited about my last blog post about Leads202 going open source.

Worst Joke Ever!

That was basically the reaction from everyone when I told them it was an April fools joke. I mean what kind of a person tells their user base that the most exciting product they created is going to be free and open source only to tell them it's was a prank? Me!

3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Host Leads202 Yourself

So Leads202 is not going to be a free open source product. It's a cloud hosted Lead Generation Platform, fully supported, managed, updated, tuned and optimized by our team.

You Will Be Stuck On Old Releases

One big reason for going the hosted route is that we are rapidly adding new features. Sometimes a new feature is added every day, and because you are on a hosted platform, you use them all right when we release.

Admit it, you know you have copies of Prosper202 1.3.1 running on some of your servers. Prosper202 1.3.1 is over TWO YEARS OLD! It's not your fault, when I was an active affiliate I didn't keep my software up to date either. Which means I missed out on all the new ways to optimize and track.

Why Do Ugly Ads Work So Well?

Ever since I heard about how well they work, I've always tested ugly ads with hand drawn elements in them. For some some strange reason, they seem to get better CTRs. If you are a regular user of Prosper202, you may have seen some of my handiwork when you login to your account.

For example take a look at this masterpiece

This Ugly Ad has averaged a CTR of 1.09% after almost 11,000 impressions

This fancy looking banner below didn't do so well

This More Professional Ad has averaged a CTR of 0.06% after 9,000 impressions. We quickly took it out of rotation.
