With every major update, there is bound to be a quick-fix update released only a few days later. LiveClick 0.4.1.0 is the quick-fix build. The latest version addresses several bugs that arose in LiveClick 0.4.0.0 and offers a couple of optimizations. There are no new features in this one, but it is recommended that you update to it, even if you weren’t experiencing any problems. As always, I appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have. Thanks!

After a lengthy development and several beta tests, the final version of LiveClick 0.4.0.0 is now available for download. Much of the code was rewritten to accomplish several new features, notably an improved live bookmark checker and scheduler, the ability to style parent folders like their child livemarks, and a LiveClick toolbar button for one-click checking. Note that these changes may conflict with other addons that manage live bookmarks. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with LiveClick 0.4.0.0.

Catching up—finally!—on all the comments and email, it’s clear that LiveClick 0.4.0.0 isn’t quite ready for wide release just yet. We’ll run a couple more betas to address the most significant bugs with the new goal being a stable LiveClick by Firefox 4’s official release date (March maybe?). Download the latest LiveClick beta and see how you can help debug any problems below.

LiveClick 0.4.0.0 Beta 2 is now available for download and with it comes a slightly-revised look for the LiveClick toolbar button.
Because the next version of LiveClick contains several significant changes, I’m asking our bravest users to beta test it before I release it to the general public. Be warned that you may encounter unexpected problems with this beta. If you accept this challenge, remember to leave me feedback (positive, negative, or even neutral) in the comments. I can’t fix problems without people telling me about them. The new additions to LiveClick 0.4.0.0 include the toolbar button, optimized checking, and parent folder styling.

LiveClick 0.3.8.0 fixes a bug from the previous release where monitored Live Bookmarks failed to alert on new items. I’m still not clear why some users had issues with the previous version, but I rigorously double-checked the code and had dozens of people test this build without any reported problems. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with LiveClick 0.3.8.0.

Timing, Turning off Checks

Originally the new checking method was meant to replace manual checks only. But the more I worked on it, the more I wanted it to replace the automatic checks, too. It wasn’t easy, but eventually I figured out a way to do that and—in the process—significantly reduce the amount of network activity and CPU cycles required by LiveClick. As an added bonus, several features suddenly became very easy to implement, most of which have been longstanding goals of mine.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/protejohnny/liveclick/~4/mzA2kNsIvkk" height="1" width="1"/>
