The Pixel 6 is almost certainly going to include ultra-wideband capability.

The incoming Pixel 6 appears to be the company's most interesting phone in years, according to all indications. Google appears to be finally poised to re-enter the competition with a true flagship device, thanks to its all-new Tensor SoC and dramatically revamped chassis. Of course, competing with Apple and Samsung would require much more than a new camera module, but a fresh AOSP comment has all but guaranteed that the Pixel 6 will include a popular feature.

We learnt in May that Google's then-announced 2021 devices will most likely incorporate ultra-wideband compatibility. For ultra-precise short-range applications, such as trackers, UWB is essential. Ultra-wideband is available on both Samsung and Apple's latest phones, and it can be seen in apps like the Galaxy SmartTag.

A log within the AOSP Gerrit, as seen by 9to5Google, all but confirms UWB on the Pixel 6. The Pixel-specific UWB HAL, or hardware abstraction layer, should be renamed to "prevent conflicts with the AOSP HAL sepolicy rules that will be included in Android T," according to the remark. That's wonderful news for Pixel 6 fans, but even if you don't plan on purchasing Google's next gadget, this is a significant step forward for all Android phones.

If you haven't been keeping up with Google's internal codenames since the dessert theme was discontinued, Android S stands for Android 12. In essence, Google is working on a generic version of ultra-wideband compatibility based on the Pixel's implementation for Android 13 — codenamed "Android T" here — that will make it easy for all manufacturers to add UWB in their devices in the future.

While this appears to push baseline support for this technology back until next year at the earliest, it's encouraging to see that some level of compatibility is on the way. For a long time, Google has pushed for your phone to replace baubles like vehicle keys, allowing you to take advantage of this wireless technology. While current technologies like as NFC may be used to unlock a car, it appears that native UWB support in Android was just a matter of time.

"Our interest has been attracted in other areas, but we're still evaluating it," says the Guild CEO of entering CS:GO.

Guild, a British esports group, is involved in some of the most popular games in the industry, and they announced in November 2020 that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be their next game of choice.

Since then, almost a year has gone, and followers of the David Beckham-owned organisation will be aware that they have yet to sign a roster and compete in the Valve title.

To ensure a good entry into CS:GO, Guild even hired analyst and journalist Duncan ‘Thorin' Shields as a consultant. He stated at the time of the announcement that he would assist the organisation in "developing their model for the squad and providing advice on players and staff."

Guild Esports' CEO, Kal Hourd, detailed where they stand on formally entering the first-person shooter in an exclusive conversation with Dexerto spanning all aspects of the British team.

Since the first announcement, little has been heard about Thorin and Guild's agreement.

In an in-depth interview with Dexerto, Hourd said, "We declared that we were looking into CS:GO, we had an interest in entering and still do, but there's been a lot of changes on the CS:GO front, and our attention has been pulled in other ways."

“We promised our stockholders that we would make informed decisions and enter titles that were appropriate. We're excited about a few other games, but we're still thinking about CS:GO.”

Guild was the first esports firm to be listed on the London Stock Exchange, making it a public corporation that allows retail investors — average people looking to invest in companies they believe in — to own a piece of the company.

Like any company, they must make decisions that appear sound and sensible in order to maintain shareholder trust and drive their stock price in the proper direction.

While CS:GO isn't off the table for Guild, their CEO commented on the fact that there are other titles that have piqued their interest since the launch in November. They presently have players competing in CS:GO, Rocket League, FIFA, and Fortnite.

“I can't really disclose,” Hourd told Dexerto, “but I can say we're interested in EA and Riot Games, as well as some titles that are popular in other countries.” “It is possible to expand outside of the United Kingdom.”

League of Legends, which has a well-developed competitive system, auto battler Teamfight Tactics, collectible card game Legends of Runeterra, and mobile game League of Legends: Wild Rift are among Riot Games' other products.

Although EA has a large number of titles, few of them have well-established competitive scenes. Apart from FIFA, their most popular esports titles are Apex Legends, a battle royale game, and Madden NFL, an American football game.

So, while there hasn't been any visible progress on Guild signing their own CS:GO team, they haven't given up hope that it may happen in the future if the perfect opportunity arises.

In the latest beta, WhatsApp voice messages have a new design.

WhatsApp's interface is beginning to appear stale, especially now that Google has released the latest generation of its design principles, Material You, at its developer conference. However, the IM app is making little tweaks to keep things fresh, like as new background theming options. Voice messages will be tweaked next, according to WABetaInfo.

The new appearance was briefly enabled in the newest WhatsApp beta, version v2.21.13.17, however it appears that the company has already disabled it via a server-side upgrade. Nonetheless, these screenshots show us what to expect. Similar to Telegram, Facebook Messenger, and iMessage, the familiar scrubbing bar gives place to a waveform design that may help you discover the key parts of a message more easily. However, according to a reader, the waveforms currently make it hard to scrub backwards and forth, forcing you to sit through the entire recording every time. That could be why WhatsApp decided to remove the look for the time being.

Another impending UI change in a forthcoming, yet-to-be-released version of Whatsapp has been uncovered by WABetaInfo. When you send a voice message, you'll receive a preview of the waveform as you talk, which might reassure you that your microphone is successfully recording your words. This is a great addition, as WhatsApp currently lacks a visual indicator of how loudly your phone's microphone is taking up your voice. While we only have images of the iOS version, WABetaInfo claims that an Android version is in the works.

As previously said, WhatsApp has turned off the new appearance for the time being, but if you want to be the first to know about future updates, keep an eye on APK Mirror for fresh beta builds. Unfortunately, the WhatsApp Play Store beta is currently full.

It is now being rolled out.

The improvements are currently being rolled out to Android WhatsApp beta users, according to WABetaInfo. Users can listen to a voice message before sending it by hitting the stop button in the centre of the interface, in addition to viewing the waveform image.
