School tours meet in the main lobby of PS 32 at 9AM. Due to limited capacity, RSVPs are required for all tours. All visitors will be to sign-in at the security desk and present valid photo identification or they will not be allowed into the building.

Dear Incoming & Returning P.S. 32 Families,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 2019/2020 school year! We hope that the upcoming school year will be an exceptional experience in your child’s life. We cannot emphasize enough how honored we are to serve as your school leaders. Our staff is some of the best that you will ever find in the teaching profession. We are excited about the new staff members joining our team and know that you will also be impressed with their talents and professional attributes.

Your participation within our community is critical to our success. Please make every effort to volunteer however you can. Get involved with the PTA, assist and facilitate with our community day events, come read in our amazing library, or join a committee. We value your hard work and dedication and realize that we cannot do the important job of educating your child without your support. With funding significantly reduced, we also need you to pitch in with fundraising efforts. This is truly a team effort!

I am asking everyone to think about how they can be involved in strengthening our school community. As you interact with staff, students and parents ask yourself if you are living up to these words:

Kids Orbit will provide full coverage from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday throughout the school year along with flexible options for fewer than 5 days a week or part-day care. Kids Orbit After School will be open on select half days when P.S. 32 is not in session.

Program Details

• Kids Orbit staff will meet your child at 3pm and the program will start with snack time (snacks will be provided). 
• Students will use the Pre-K Classrooms, the Play Yard and will coordinate with Good Shepherd Services to make use of the Gym and Auditorium as well. 
• Your child can be picked up at any time using the school’s main entrance on Hoyt St. 
• If an older sibling is enrolled in the Good Shepherd Services After School program, their 3 specific pick-up times still apply.  For Good Shepherd Services After School pick-up, please continue to use the Union St entrance.
• Kindergarten students under the age of 5 at the start of the 2019-2020 school year who enroll in Kids Orbit will remain in the program for the school year.
• If your Kindergarten student will be 5 years old at the start of the 2019-2020 school year, please register for the Good Shepherd Services After School Program.

I am writing to announce my retirement from the Department of Education. After an almost twenty year career, I have decided that it is time for me to focus on my health and my family.

I enjoyed my time as Assistant Principal of PS 32. The children helped me to smile each and every day. I have truly appreciated your partnership and thank you for your support over these past five years.

Book, “Seeing Into Tomorrow” Haiku by Richard Write, Biography, and Illustrations by Nina Crews

Dear 2nd Graders & Parents,
We are excited to bring Brooklyn-based, acclaimed author-illustrator, Nina Crews, to our library to speak to the second-grade classes.

Please note, this talk is during school hours and is for the students only but we want to let parents know so they can help their kids get familiar with Nina’s books before the visit.

Nina will talk about where ideas come from, thinking in pictures, and using a camera and collage. She will also read from her books.

Before the visit
We have purchased some copies of the books shown above for the 2nd-grade classrooms so students can become familiar with Nina’s work before the visit. There are also additional copies in the library that students may check out.

To make the most out of Nina’s visit:

• Consider checking out Nina’s books from the school or public library.
• Talk up the visit before the actual date. The more excited the kids are about it, the more they’ll get out of it.

Nina Crews is a critically acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator. She uses photographs and photo collages to create energetic stories about young children. Her career began in 1995 with One Hot Summer Day which Kirkus Reviews hailed as “the debut of a welcome new voice and vision.” Two of her books, The Neighborhood Mother Goose and Below were ALA Notable selections. Nina lives in Brooklyn with her husband and son.
