It appears Uncharted is definitely getting a movie after all. To quote: "It's definitely in the works, I can tell people. We've got the best possible partners we could in Columbia Pictures.

If anybody's got any fears of them not understanding the material or not loving it as much as we do, they can wipe those fears away, because these guys really get it.

To those who may be looking forward to the movie, 'on hold' would definitely be better than 'canned' right? The Halo movie has long been talked about, and yet pertinent details about the movie have yet to be revealed.

A Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku (linked above), to quote:

"We're glad there's still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a Halo movie.

Apparently this won't be his first time working on a videogame project as he is also directing the Masi Oka MMO adventure film "Defender."

To quote: At this stage Caruso and EA are listening to pitches from writers and once a script has been selected the film will be shopped around to studios to see who's interested.

It'll be interesting to see what type of script is chosen or what direction Caruso and EA want to take with the project.

The Dead Space game was a bit light on direct story elements, aside from reading files and things of that sort, so perhaps the film version would flesh things out if it would be a retelling of the game.

Or we could end up with a side story or prequel, similar to the upcoming "Dead Space: Extraction" for the Nintendo Wii.

Rumor: God of War Movie Script Leaked?!

The the movie seems to be based on the events on the first God of War. The script (or parts of it) were not published, but the claim is big enough to spark this juicy rumor anew.

[u]Spoiler Warning[/u]: We all know what happened in God of War one, and despite the close adherence of the movie to the in-game storyline, the ending will be different: Instead of accepting the offer to replace Ares as the God of War, Kratos refuses, continues his cliff dive, whispering "Your turn, Hades..." as he falls.

Now we turn to who's playing Kratos. For me, no one will ever make a better Kratos than Vin Diesel, and perhaps Goldberg would come a distant second.

Report: 17 Million People Stopped Buying CDs in 2008

While overall music sales were up 10 percent in 2008, the year saw a drop not only in CD sales, but in the number of customers actually purchasing music. But according to a new report, the act of music listening is actually on the rise. While digital music purchases remain strong, the numbers show that there is still much more work to be done in the industry's transition to a new, more diverse set of business models.

With all the Watchmen fuzz all over the country, it is easy to forget who actually took on the task of writing the movie and try living up to the masterpiece the graphic novel is.

Fortunately, there is a little blog called The [url=http://www.backroominterviews.net/david-hayter-interview-march-2009/]Back Room[/url] that had an interview with non-other than [b]David Hayter[/b], screenwriter of Watchmen.

David Hayter well known for his voice acting for Metal Gear's Solid Snake, was talking to Amanda Mack in this interview about his thoughts about the movie finally being released. David responds how awesome it feels to look at the opening credits playing in front of the audience.

Hayter goes on saying how he tried his best to keep as loyal to the graphic novel as possible. He was working close with Alan Moore, and got his support throughout the process. Amanda and Hayter also talk about the game, Watchmen: The End is Nigh, and hopes of David writing the Metal Gear movie.

Movie Adaptation Stranglehold Becoming a Movie Itself

The 2007 action title Stranglehold has John Woo's name attached to it, so it seems only natural that it would eventually find its way to the big screen. And according to the [url=http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i5d4e99d39342e8b8b32803890403f095]Hollywood Report[/url], that's exactly what it's doing.

Buried amid news of a Missing in Action remake is mention that writers Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio are also busy developing a Stranglehold script.

Being as Stranglehold was itself based on Hard Boiled, another John Woo project, this should be interesting to see. Especially with John Woo himself apparently being involved in the film.

No news on casting or possible release dates, but we'll keep you up to date as we get more information.

It's official: "Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun-Li" is a flop. Even given a perfunctory release on 1,136 theaters, its estimated weekend gross of $4.65 million and per screen average of $4,093 is lame, albeit not disastrous.

Box Office Mojo has a useful chart of video game-to-movie adaptations, on which "Chun-Li" comes in no. 23 of 28. Amongst the movies that beat it: Uwe Boll's "In the Name of the King," "Alone in the Dark," and "House of the Dead"; "Wing Commander" in 1999; and "The Wizard" in 1989 (yes, folks, that's in non-inflation adjusted dollars).

And, yes indeed, it came in well behind the 1994 Jean Claude Van Damme "Street Fighter" classic, which bowed to $6.6 million.

Keep in mind, however, that a weak performance in the U.S. doesn't necessarily mean "Legend of Chun-Li" is a big money loser for financiers Capcom and Hyde Park.

Movie director [B]Len Wisemen[/B] has revealed that he will be writing a Gears of War movie, and even has plans to make it into a trilogy.

3D Realms 'Bewildered' by Max Payne Flick

20th Century Fox said over the weekend that revenues from the new Mark Wahlberg-starring game-movie Max Payne hit $18 million in North America, topping the box office.

Reviews have been roundly terrible, however. Even Scott Miller, CEO of 3D Realms, the producer behind the Max Payne games, found the flick straying significantly from its source material.

"There are several fundamental story flaws ... in the film that have me shaking my head in bewilderment," Miller told Edge.

For instance, he said that one of Max Payne's enemies, the drug distributor Jack Lupino, is "lamely killed by one of the film's non-action characters."

In the first game, Max Payne finishes off Lupino.

Miller elaborated, "...The entire time we're told that this drug makes 1-in-100 people super-human, yet Lupino doesn't demonstrate this in the least. It should have taken a hail storm of bullets to bring him down, plus it should have been Max that kills him."

When it comes to the big screen adventure, Arad said the plan is to mix things up a little bit. In the game, the action moves very quickly to the island, but the film will open things up a bit and add some depth before the island adventure.

Anyone who had been hoping that the big screen version of the hit videogame Max Payne would be a hardcore, R-rated release will be very disappointed by the following news.

GameDaily reports that Max Payne, a 20th Century Fox release, has been re-cut to attain a broader audience-friendly PG-13 rating. The John Moore-directed film had initially earned an "R" rating from the Motion Picture Association of America due to its violent content.

What's notable, however, is that this time it was the director and not the studio forcing the issue of getting the more audience-friendly PG-13 rating.

Iron Man on Blu-ray Recalled; Possibly Delayed

Update: We have received word from Paramount that they will meet the street date, and that the 'Iron Man' Blu-ray will not be delayed.

Blu-ray.com is reporting that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Iron Man' has been recalled. A few weeks back, some of those receiving review copies reported trouble playing the disc in their Blu-ray players. Apparently, there is an authoring problem with the disc, and distributors have been issued direction to send back all product.

According to those distributors, Paramount is doing everything possible to get enough replacement discs to retailers in time for its September 30th release date, but it may not be able to meet the demand. If Paramount can't get enough titles onto retail shelves, they may delay the title until October 7th.

Online retailers like Amazon are likely to ship first-come, first-serve, so make sure you have your pre-order in now if you haven't done so already.

Capcom Japan has released the first photo of Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. As you can see, she's neither wearing her usual blue dress or have her hair wrapped in her trademark cute buns.

Fans shouldn't be surprised, however; the new Street Fighter film hopes to take the video game adaptation more seriously this time around instead of the Van Damme cheeseboulder that snuck up on the world in 1994 like one of Dhalsim's sly reacharounds. We're following Chun Li as she scours Thailand as a street fighter to find her father's killer, M. Bison (Neal McDonough).

Quick note: I don't know how, but she actually looks identical to how I imagined she would look when they announced the project-A dirty street fighter in Thailand, delving into the mucky muck. Street fighting isn't exactly a colorful world with costumes and junk.

Why do we get the feeling this movie is probably going to suck? Oh, I know, maybe because the first released images of the Tekken film look anything but promising.

According to IMDB.com, MMA star Cung Le has been casted to play Tekken veteran Marshall Law. The first image of him in costume has been posted on his myspace page, which you can view below.

Photographs from the location shoot of the new Max Payne movie have emerged online, revealing Chris O'Donnell in character for the first time.

While Mark Wahlberg is the titular character, Chris O'Donnell plays an executive tied into the big conspiracy that led to the death of Payne's family. He's seen here walking along the snowy streets of New York, either asleep, annoyed or simply caught by the camera at the wrong moment.
