Here's another project that began earlier last year. I was asked to decorate an office. There is only one employee at there (he works remotely for a business in another state) but he needed a space that is warm and inviting for the rare occasion that he does have visitors. He wanted the space to be modern and masculine. I actually love the final product...the Souk Rug is one of my favorite West Elm items and the Restoration Hardware sofa was my client's only suggestion so we used both! For this project I did space planning, renderings {see two here}, a furniture and art spec list, paint selection {it was off-yellow before}, handled scheduling of paint contractors and art installation. Because of both of our crazy schedules, it's been hard to find the right time to complete the final task of styling the space and taking pictures. We finally did it before I head out of town {more on that later}!

Through my position this past year at West Elm, I was able to meet some pretty incredible people. My client interactions with families like the Coopers, were such an uplifting part of my days there. I spent some time with them today to photograph some further progress we've made since their dining room before & after was published on Front & Main.

A Perfectly Project: Little Gentleman's Nursery - Before & After

I had the honor of decorating the nursery for a couple who is very dear to me. I've known the mother since we were 7 years old! They contacted me about creating a space that their son could grow into. The goal was to have a fun, functional room that has an air of sophistication:)

Here are the "before" pics when the room was a guest bedroom:

I came up with a concept board to get us started. Sometimes I sketch a concept, sometimes I make a digital mood board. Either way, I enjoy creating something that shows a client everything in my mind so that we can fine tune the direction we want to go.

Without further adieu here are the "afters":

Dark green walls, an antique dresser turned into changing table, a custom cornice (made by the parents!) - all add a "manly" look, while the graphic patterns make the room fun for a little one:)

These Florida Gator fans mean business. And now baby Charles is the coolest mini-Gator-fan ever. His parents had their old light customized to include their son's name!

While antiquing for myself, I found this awesome vintage gator toy at Rusted Market in San Marco. I just COULD NOT leave without it.

The portable book shelf was another fantastic find at Rusted Market, while a custom wreath by Charle's Aunt welcomes visitors to the room.

It's all in the details. I love the sheets we found at Serena & Lily and the colorful jacquard chevron fabric we used to create a custom crib skirt.

Lola says "but I was here first! where's my nursery?!"

We made a mobile from West Elm's wooden spheres by painting them and

hanging them from the ceiling.

Home Styling through West Elm was featured last week in Jacksonville's local paper and I was happy {understatement} to be interviewed for the story. Two of my projects were shared in the article! You can read it online here.

I worked a bit with a talented Alabama photographer, Jennifer Blair, last month to help her narrow down the concept for her "Urban Chic" inspired photo shoot. She has a great gasp on styling and sees the world in a a very timeless, peaceful, and delicate way - all of which made the planning process super delightful! I think the idea to do a styled shoot on top of a downtown building was so romantic. She and her team of friends and family pulled the whole thing together and I just adored the result. Style Me Pretty did too, and featured her work there!!

Sometimes I feel like some sort of expert in the world of baby. My friends have been producing sweet mini-versions of themselves for almost a decade now and my precious nephew is close to 2yrs! I've heard oodles of birth stories and newborn experiences from nursing-nipple-chaffing {yes I just mentioned that} to which stroller pops open the fastest using the least amount of energy.

But what I have also heard {and held onto} are the many opinions of my friends about why they decorate their baby's space the way they do. There are lots of varying ideas about what is necessary {gliders...changing table...changing table/dresser combo...mobile...accent wall}. Moms-to-be and their dads are typically drawn towards different shades of paint too...and I've noticed that this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the overall style of their home at times.

After recently finishing my first "official" nursery, I started a Pinterest board specifically for nurseries because I really love them now. I like the psychology of preparing the way for a new life to live in a space. I love how personal it is to the parents, and the coolness factor of the child that gets a professionally decorated room before he or she is even born. Style needs to be encouraged from the start! :)

I just started on my next nursery project and my last e-mail to my client went over images of my favorite nurseries and things I like in nursery design. I decided it would be fun to share some of those ideas with you guys too!

{le sueur interiors}

- Artwork is whimsical but timeless. The custom sentence in the photo above is a great example.

- Color schemes are balanced. Mix pastels with deep tones, or brights with neutrals. I'm more a fan of contrast than I am of a room that is completely "loud" or "quiet" either way.

- Varied textures allow for added interest and can even feel like another pattern at times.

- Lighting can look "fun", but is a style that can be used in the room for a long time. "Themed" lighting, like a fan that looks like the front end of a plane, will eventually wear out its welcome. You want the room to be able to easily transition with your child.

- Hand-me-down furniture and antiques are GREAT. Have your sister's crib repainted or go ahead and grab that cute wardrobe you saw at an estate sale. While sets of matching furniture are pretty {and very time efficient when hunting for new furniture!} try to add at least one piece that brings some character to the table.

We kicked off our blog launch this past weekend with a tastey brunch at a local park.

We've only just begun our creative journey together, but I can already say that I am so immensely blessed by the other contributors. Sometimes between school, work, and more work, it's hard to also find people who are going through similar struggles, and who have the same schedule even! But we've become a little community for each other and it's special. I hope you enjoy what we have to offer.

A Perfectly Project: Ponte Vedra Nursery & Guest Bath.

I had the privilege of helping a sweet family with the nursery and guest bath that their first born daughter now lives in. The mom and I combined our efforts, used Pinterest for some inspiration, and did some creative DIY work to get the job done. I love how colorful and exciting little Olivia's space is. I hope you do too!

I used an old frame, chicken wire, and ribbon, to create this bow-board.

Olivia is being taught where her allegiance lies from an early age ;) Go Gators!

I adore her nursing/reading nook that is complete with a Capiz Pendant light from West Elm.

We saw this idea early on in the process and once the project was near completion, Olivia's mom realized the need for more storage and put it together. If you can't tell what they are, they are wall planters for plants! I love thinking outside the box.

Love the little details.

In the bathroom I helped with hardware, tile, countertop, and the custom mirror above the sink. This family lives at the beach and I think the bright bathroom embraces the fun nature of their location.

We created a waterfall effect in the shower. The hope was to have a room that was fun for a little girl, but could transition later as she gets older. The tile work adds a little bit of the "spa" feel.

I adore antiqued bronze hardware. Adore it. and I love the contrast with the Carrera marble.

Darby and I are experiencing an air condition-less world at the moment, so I am pretending yoga class never ended tonight and am blogging in my workout clothes. Darby is looking at me with contempt. Have you experienced any home debacles this summer? What did you do to make the best of the situation? I would give my girl a cold bath, but that would make it worse because she hates water. She's gonna have to tough this one out ;)

Sometimes the world can turn into a place where things start to teeter on the edge of being more important than the people who will use them. Because of that, I decided I would share the above phrase I found (on pinterest) in lieu of a picture of a pretty room today. Even though my work is to essentially promote purchasing new things for your home, my hope is that you (and I) will always remember that at the end of the day, it is far more important that our homes are filled with something greater: love.

Through my position at West Elm, I recently came up with a design concept for two model apartments and then executed the installation of everything from furniture to accessories. One of the apartments {above} needed a "warm" look, while the other {below} needed to look "cool."

There are a couple details left, such as obtaining pieces of art for two of the rooms and installing a light fixture, so I will just show you my two favorite rooms for now. It was exciting and challenging to do this project because I had to really think in terms of marketing more than comfort. No one will sit on the furniture in the models, but potential renters will look at the space planning and need to be able to envision their own furniture in those spaces {so they will sign leases!}. I learn more and more everyday that decorating is all about problem solving and less about finding pretty fabrics! ;)

I know, so trendy. Oh well. A little bit of a trend is a good thing. You just need to choose wisely where you add it to a space. The cool thing about geometric shapes is the fact that there aren't any characters involved. Simple patterns and shapes are a far cry from "putting a bird on it." In that spirit, I rounded up some pretty neat tile designs that show off geometric patterns in an interesting fashion. What had me thinking along the lines of shapes to begin with today was the Origami Coffee Table from WE. Big fan. Enjoy!

Hi friends! It sure has been a hot minute but as you can see, Perfectly Taylor'd has been undergoing a massive makeover. My lack of web design know-how led me to partner up with Jordan for the new look. We aren't finished, but I hope you enjoy the direction we are headed in!

I just returned from Charleston, SC where I took all of zero pictures and instead made one drawing of a corner in the coffee shop we went to every morning. Maybe I am turning a new leaf (that includes less paparazzi-like behavior), or perhaps I am just channeling my professor, who strives to make hand drawing a part of her everyday life. Either way, I had a glorious time.

A Perfectly Project: d i y 's for a Ponte Vedra Nursery

I spent a Sunday afternoon recently with my client to knock out some DIY's for her daughter's nursery. The custom bedding hasn't arrived yet, but here are a couple from our crafting fun!

We made floating fabric circles with embroidery loops, and painted letters to spell her name.

I am so excited to see the bedding when it gets here, because it coordinates perfectly with the fabric we used in the loops. More to come!

As my sister put it the other day: "life is profound." It really is. This week my family said good-bye (for a little while) to the matriarch of the Ghost family. For my sister and I, this was also our last living grandparent. She is up in heaven now having a lovely time with her husband (Grandy) and her son (my daddy).

I need to back track and explain the post title. We used to call her "Grandma Ghost" but she heard my old pastor call me "Boo" and decided from that point on that she would be "G-Boo." She was extremely cute like that. Even towards the last few years of her life while her brain wasn't quite functioning the same, she never lost her wit and humor.

My summers as a child were often spent at her home in Pennsylvania. She would watch Nick at Night and Cosby with me. We'd go over family photos and family stories until we both fell asleep. She would tell me all about my dad, who passed when I was just 7. I loved to get any insight into who he was - what he was passionate about - and she told me as much as she could. Now that I am older I realize what a daunting task that must have been for my G-Boo. I can imagine it hurt her to go over the details of his life that I longed to hear, but she did so with a selfless grace. She was such a strong woman.

Today she is being laid to rest, but her memory will live on forever.

A Shower for Baby Emma.

I can't believe sometimes that I am 28 years old throwing baby showers for friends whom I have known, in this case, for over a decade. It was just yesterday that you could find me, the mother-to-be, and one of the hostesses singing silly songs at the lunch table at our grade school. Ok, so maybe we are still goofy together. I call the mom-to-be a lot to tell her bizarre stories like the other day when I had to explain to her how a vendor I work with held me up for 40 minutes telling me that he lactates...as in, he makes milk. I just knew she'd appreciate hearing that that is possible;)

Moving right along...here are some pics from her shower. A bit late considering little Emma has graced the world with her presence already! Our theme was "pretty as a peach."

I'm up and anticipating running the River Run tomorrow morning. I managed to run just enough the past few months that I think tomorrow will be a breeze. Until of course, I get to the huge-A bridge at the end.

School and work are both cray-cray right now. You may have noticed that certain parts of the year involve lots of radio silence for me. These periods of time are typically mid-semester. Don't worry, updates will be a rolling through the interwebs in a couple weeks when all my projects are turned in. I have lots to share about my new job at West Elm and my current client projects through Perfectly Taylor'd! I am sure you fell off the edge of your seat when I hadn't updated in a month. I went antiquing earlier in the week and found some odds and ends that would make the perfect vintage looking pendant banner for a baby shower I am helping to host this February. I used a crocheted table cover, jacquard napkin, and a linen handkerchief. Here's a sneak peek at how it turned out!

Can't wait to see the entire shower come together. I would show you our inspiration board now, but I don't want to ruin the surprise of how it will look for the mom-to-be:)
