Winners Press! Zinescapes Tour

The adventurous dudes and lady of Winners! Press are off on another adventure! This time they’re traveling up the west coast where they’ll be making zines about the places they visit and hosting zine workshops/drawing parties. The first workshop will be held in LA at Public Fiction (49 Avenue 50) on July 30 at 6 p.m. There’s also going to be a movie screening of ‘Ladies & Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains. Another workshop will be held in Oakland at Rock Paper Scissors Collective on August 2 at 6 pm and they’ll also be at Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco on Aug 1! They’re already in Arizona and they’re moving fast! Follow them at www.winnerspress.com.

Capturing America

The Denver Post’s blog recently posted some beautiful Depression-Era photos that belong to the Library of Congress.

The collection instantly renewed our excitement about working with Davis Ayer to design and publish a book focusing on the hundreds of color slides he’s collected that were taken between the 1940s and 1960s. A few of the slides can be previewed at his Kodrachome Restoration Project Flickr set.

Go Sledding

If you’re out of coffee this Friday morning and are in need of a quick jolt to wake you up this image may help. It’s the first President Bush and the Governator riding a snow sled at Camp David in 1991. It’s one of the weirdest things I have seen in a long time.

Chris Piascik Loves Bikes

Internet friend and world class illustrator Chris Piascik recently collaborated with Milltag to create this rad type driven cycling jersey! I’m personally excited that Chris had this opportunity because he’s such a passionate cyclist. Bike culture is one of his main sources of inspiration found throughout his body of work. Anthony Zinonos is a Hoarder

It’s no well kept secret that P’schoolers love Anthony Zinonos; his work and personality are both quite charming. Anthony has been posting pictures of all the wonderful vintage textures he comes across at car boot sales. Wait, what’s a car boot sale? For an honest opinion behind this magical place you’ll have to ask Anthony himself. Wikipedia “claims” that its a British form of a market in which private individuals come together to sell household and garden goods. Personally I think it’s a milk and honey treasure chest for collage artists and hoarders. See all of AZ’s flickr collection here.

The Mast Brothers

The Scout has been doing a series of videos on craftsmanship and their newest is titled The Mast Brothers. The brothers are a couple of artisan chocolate makers in Brooklyn, New York. The video is a beauty and of course the chocolate and labels they produce for the bars are tasty looking.
