International Prayer & Cultural Festival 2008

“Labourers from the Pacific Islands played an important part in the growth of the sugar industry in Queensland. While many were recruited against their will, others came willingly and returned to the islands transformed by the power of the gospel.”

From the 5 – 12 October 2008, a unique gathering of hundreds of Islanders from Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu will be in Bundaberg to pray for Australia. Many indigenous and non indigenous peoples from Australia and representatives from other parts of the world will also be taking part in this historical event.

The Bundaberg Regional Council has endorsed and fully supports this event. Invitations have been given to the state and federal governments of Australia and to other government representatives from the nations of the Pacific region. This gathering will be a tremendous promotion for the Bundaberg region, Queensland and Australia.

We invite individuals, organizations, businesses and governments to become sponsors of this event.  Sponsors will be given naming rights for this event and will be published on our website, www.awakeningthenations.org.au

Day of Pentecost, 14th May, 1606

Let the heavens, the earth, the waters with all their creatures, and those present, witness that I, Captain Pedro Ferdinand de Quiros...in the name of Jesus Christ... hoist this emblem of the holy cross on which His person was crucified and whereon He gave His life for the ransom and remedy of all the human race...on this day of Pentecost, 14th May....I take possession of all this part of the south as far as the pole in the name of Jesus...which from now on shall be called the southern land of the Holy Ghost...and this always and forever...and to the end that to all natives, in all the said lands, the holy and sacred evangel may be preached zealously and openly.
