We know it all too well through the loss of our oldest child Cal to leukemia at the age of 13 in 2006 and continue to experience it on a regular basis through Cal’s Angels. The most recent reminder of how far we still have to go in the war on pediatric cancer came when we started a new program called the Twelve Days of Christmas where we spoil the heck out of terminally ill children being treated at Children’s Memorial Hospital and their siblings each with $200 in gifts and a full Christmas dinner for the family. Though we called it the Twelve Days, we never thought for one second there would be anywhere near twelve children on the terminal list and were in complete shock when the hospital came back with a list of fourteen, five of whom may not even make it to see Christmas Day.</p> <p>2010 marks the end of our third full year and since our founding on April 10, 2007 each and every one of our generous donors and supporters has helped us raise almost $500,000! This awesome generosity has allowed us to take care of all fourteen of the Twelve Days’ recipients and their combined 32 siblings plus have enough to grant the wishes of or financially assist the families of well over 100 children battling leukemia and lymphoma, provide family outings to Great America, the Dells, Sea World, the circus and sporting events, shopping sprees to local retailers and online, countless laptops and desktop computers, supply the hospitals and Ronald McDonald House with over a thousand Wii, PS2, PS3, XBOX 360 games and consoles, DVD movies, arts, crafts, games and supplies, assist families with countless mortgage, rent, car and utility bill payments and gift cards for groceries, prescriptions and clothing, invest in the futures of 6 young college-bound men, assist the local Little League and players all the while being the first organization to commit $100,000 to the Heroes for Life Community Partners Program at the new Children's Memorial Hospital slated to open in 2012.</p> <p>We continue to run at 95 cents of every dollar going to the cause and until a cure is found and children no longer have to suffer, we are going to continue granting wishes and providing financial assistance to kids fighting cancer and their families but we cannot do it without your help.
