We've got some news to report:
-During a blind tasting of white spanish wines, carried out by our friends of Verema.com, we've gained the first place with our Vinya Jordina 2008. This is fantastic news for us! For more details you can enter the following web:www.verema.com
-The magazine Sibaritas put our red wine 3 Negres 2006 inside a test bank, during the June edition.
-The newspaper AVUI will publish next friday 26/06/09 an article concerning 3 Negres, inside the newspaper suplement.
-And next saturday we will meet during the cava festival in Sant Feliu de Guíxols!

New "birth"

Hi friends,
We must celebrate something. Last weekend we had a new "birth"in the cellar. It's an exclusive sparkling wine which we have made through the "tirage" process and looks pretty good!.We could almost say it's the mother of our much-loved BIEL·LO.
Only produced during harvests under special conditions, we believe modestly that the 2008 harvest was a special one.
The blend, a big mystery: Viognier barrel fermented, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir and our much-loved Parellada. All of them from a special selection and a careful winemaking process inside the cellar.
And only 1900 bottles produced!We can't wait to see the results!We have to wait at least 2 years...

Strong wind and new blendings

Gone with the wind! In la Llacuna last saturday the wind reached speeds of over 170 km/hour. Luckily, we didn't have any major problems, just a few cases of fallen trees and due to our cellar being underground, work on the wine blendings wasn't interrupted.
Soon we'll start botteling Vinya Jordina 2008, for wich we have high expectations.....

Harvest finished

Finally the harvest is finished. We are physically tired but our soul is really happy. And that sounds good, very good, because any result becomes from a sacrifice and at this time we can "smell" and enjoy new births....

March Madness

It's been a busy month.

First Sibaritas magazine gave us an excellent review for our sparkling Biel·lo in their new releases section.

Moreover, we can now let you know that we have just bottled our first white wine, Vinya Jordina, so we can look forward to the birth of a new product in the near future.

The rhythm in the cellar this month has been frenetic. We're just about to bottle this year's Biel·lo for it's secondary fermentation in the bottle, and immediately afterwards it'll be time to prepare the final blend of 3 Negres 2006!

It's an exciting and very rewarding time for the cellar. Care to join us?

A few words of thanks

These days with the family, good food and good wine... are especially enriching... sharing ideas around a good conversation.

At the cellar we're pround to see (and drink) the first results of the 2007 vintage, even though it's still early - wine is a living and changing thing.

This year we added Biel·lo to the now established 3 Negres, and the response has been wonderful. But that's not all, as in our nursery we have Vinya Jordina, a barrel fermented white made up of Garnatxa Blanca and Sauvignon Blanc, that will soon see the light of day.

We'd like to wish you all the best for these holidays and the coming year, and to do soin a rather special way:

Harvest

The most important moment of the year is upon us: the harvest.
The virtues or defects our wines will have in the future are defined at this exact moment, so all of us at the Celler Puig-Romeu have all five senses working overtime.
We can also give you an advance exclusive: this year we will be making a barrel-fermented white from the vines of Vinya La Jordina! We hope this new launch will turn out as well as the others.

Launch of Biel·lo

The end of this month will see the launch of our second product: Biel·lo. (pronounced more or less Be-ellow)

It is a unique sparkling wine. Made from Pinot Noir and Parellada, it is aged for 24 months, and bottled without any additional dosage: From the vineyard to your glass without interference.

We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we did making it. Cheers!

Spring...

This is a beautiful time of the year in the vineyards as we see the first shoots of the new growth, a green explosion that covers the countryside. The first to shoot are the early ripening varities like Moscatel de Frontignan, Malvasía and Merlot, followed by the later ripening ones like Parellada or Cabernet Sauvignon.
