Today I’m going to introduce you to the polar sport zone feature. This feature provides an easy way to set and monitor your intensity during training, it is also a great way to follow training plans. The Polar Sport Zones are primary used by runners and cyclists but can be used for any cardio exercise. The sport zones training is divided into 5 different zones and it’s based on your individual maximum heart rate. This feature is available on a few polar heart rate monitors.

Before you start training with the polar sport zones feature you should complete a polar fitness test with the OwnIndex Feature. OwnIndex Provides you with your VO2 Max and your Heart Rate Max Value. The VO2 Max calculates your maximum volume of oxygen your body can intake per time and your Heart Rate Max value is calculated by subtracting your Age from 220. The polar fitness test will produce accurate sport zones that are adjusted to your own individual fitness level.

To explore the 5 different sport zones lets take a look at a typical running training session that uses intervals.

The Sport zone one intensity level is very light that only requires 50 to 60 percent of your maximum heart rate. This is also the zone during your recovery period of the heavy interval work.

If you would like to do an endurance run then your goal would be to stay within sport zone 2 which requires 60 to 70 percent of your heart rate max. This level is relatively light but increases metabolism and aerobic capacity additionally it strengthens the body so it can tolerate higher intensity training.

If you decide that you want to push your self to the next level you can train in sport zone three. Running in this zone is very effective for increasing speed and endurance which is the ability to run faster for longer. Sports Zone Three is between 70 and 80 percent of your heart rate max.

If you would like to do an interval workout to prep for an upcoming race you might want to train in both sport zones 4 and 5

Sport zone 4 will demand 80-90 percent of your heart rate max. Training within sport zone 4 helps increase high-speed and anaerobic tolerance. Keep in mind you should only train within sport zone 4 for a short time and then reduce the intensity of your workout to sport zone 1 until your heart rate is between 50 to 60 % of your heart rate max before deciding to run another set.

Sport zone 5 requires 90 – 100% of your max heart rate which tones the neuromuscular system and increases your explosive speed. After 1 to 2 minutes within sport zone 5 you should drop back down to sport zone 1 again to recover.

And that’s how sport zones work in a running training session. This feature can help take your heart rate based training to a new level of effectiveness.

Today I’m going to introduce you to one of several unique features that are exclusive to polar heart rate monitors. One that determines you physical state and helps guide your intensity level to get you in the proper zone so that you can efficiently reach your training and fitness targets. It’s another technology that takes the guess-work out of your training sessions and it’s known as Polar OwnZone.

The Polar Ownzone feature is available in several polar heart rate units including the Polar FT60 & Polar FT80. What the OwnZone is designed to do is to allow you to listen closely to your body. It gets to know you and helps you plan your workout.

Depending on a number of factors from the day and time to your physical and mental state and your current environment Polar OwnZone determines before you workout if you might be stressed or tired and whether or not you have fully recovered from your last training session. What the OwnZone feature basically does is it takes a reading of your heart rate and determines your ideal training zone based on current information and your historical data. It then develops a custom workout range for you to follow.

Polar OwnZone Levels

The OwnZone Light Range will feel fairly easy for most people and will help with weight loss, improving your endurance and general health and fitness.

The Moderate OwnZone Feature increases intensity for those who train regularly to focus in on cardiovascular fitness

The Final level you can train at is the hardest OwnZone level it’s very intense and uses 80-90% of your maximum heart rate training. Training at High intensities should only be done for a short amount of time by fit individuals or at least get advice from a medical professional like your doctor before commencing exercise at this level.

In many ways having a polar heart rate watch is like having your own personal coach on your wrist. It will help you to know yourself better and guide you through the right intensity level to achieve the results your looking for.

The Polar OwnZone Feature is standard on many polar heart rate monitors including the Polar FT60 and Polar FT80 if you would like great bargains on polar heart rate monitors you can log onto http://www.pulseinspired.com

Polar has been making wireless monitors since 1977. Over the last 3 decades Polar have produced a combination of various sports watches that meets the demand for the elite athlete such as runners, cyclists, swimmers etc. it’s also a great tool for the average person who’s looking to get into shape.

To help with your training, the Polar ft60 heart rate monitor effectively determines your maximum heart rate by subtracting your age from the maximum heart rate of 220 beats. The Polar FT60 can display your heart rate either as a percentage, beats per minute or a HRR % (Heart Rate Reserve Percentage) The Heart Rate Reserve can be displayed as a percentage and is the difference between your maximum heart rate and your resting heart rate.

The Polar FT60 is an affordable sports watch that looks both professional and sleek. The set of functions available in the Polar FT60 are first class and very easy to use. The FT60 Polar Sports watch is available for both men and women and you even have two choice of colors black and purple. A 2 year manufacture warranty is also included with your purchase.

There is no doubt that the Polar FT60 sports watch is packed full of great features that are designed to give you a first class experience. The only problem I personally have with this particular watch is the Black on a red dial. But I just noticed there is another color option that is availiable for the polar ft60 watch that provides a much better display.

Polar FT60 Features

The built in feature called the STAR Personalised training Program is a great feature on the Polar FT60 heart rate monitor. The STAR Feature adapts to your exercise routine, records your workouts and gives you feedback on whether your behind in front or bang on target to achieve your fitness goals.

The OwnCal Functions is useful for accurately calculating the number of calories burned and the amount of energy expended during your workout.

The ZonePointer feature that’s available with the polar ft60 heart rate monitor watch guides you towards maintaining the ideal intensity during each one of your exercises. It notifies you with an alarm if you go above or below your optimum heart rate zone.

It’s lightweight, durable and water resistant up to 30 meters. it also includes all of the basic functions such as the time, the date, an alarm and a snooze feature.

If you want to see the full features available in the Polar FT60 heart rate monitor or if you would like to purchase the Polar FT60 then your in luck because pulseinspired.com have just slashed the price on all polar heart rate monitors for a very limited Time Only.

The very first Polar heart rate monitors were released in the late 70′s called the EKG monitor that tracks the hearts electrical activity. Over the last few decades Polar has continued to further refine and develop their heart rate monitors into 21 different models and have categorized them into three distinct categories called “Get Active”, “Improve Fitness” and “Maximize Performance”. Because of the price that these watches cost it’s always a good decision to find out as much as you can about the product prior to purchase.

Before you decide to purchase I would like to make sure that you are well informed about the Polar Heart Rate monitors to ensure you get the best bang for your buck Therefore I have listed a review of the three available categories that the Polar heart rate monitors offer.

The Get Active Polar Heart Rate Monitors…

The Get active Polar heart rate monitors are the cheapest heart rate monitors on offer. Typically the polar heart rate monitors that fall into this category will range any where between $40 to $120. This is an affordable option that you will get a lot of usage from especially if you are planning to exercise on a regular basis. The get active polar heart rate monitors also have sub categories that are specifically designed for Runners, Cyclists, Strength training and much more. In comparison the main difference that the more expensive Polar heart rate watches include is a special coded signal between the watch and chest strap that reduces any interference from other nearby electrical devices. In other words sometimes other nearby electrical equipment that share similar frequencies in the gym for example may interfere with the readings of the cheaper Polar heart rate monitors.

The Improve Fitness Polar Heart Rate Monitors…

The Improve Fitness Polar Heart Rate Monitors are typically priced between $149 – $349. The polar heart rate monitors that fall into this category include all of the features from the previous category as well as a professionally presented graph that displays your average and maximum heart rate. You also have the capability to configure the minimum and maximum heart rate that you want to stay between during a workout session. It also gives you the ability to pre-set your workout plans and weekly targets. In addition If you are into power training you could configure and set your recovery periods between sets that are determined by your own heart rate. Some of the Polar heart rate monitors in this particular category include a GPS system that can pinpoint your geographical position and display exactly how far you have travelled.

The Maximize Performance Polar Heart Rate Monitors…

The maximize performance Polar heart rate monitors are the cream of the crop that have been designed for the elite athlete and start at $400. If you are a serious athlete looking for something that can help push you to the top of your game and achieve the thrill of breaking your Personal Best then this could be the perfect fit for you. Each and every model in the maximize performance category is highly customized to fulfill the highest demands possible for the elite athlete.

Overall the Polar Heart Rate monitors are of very high quality. For the average joe or weekend warriors who are in search of a high quality heart rate monitor then the best option in my oppinion would be to go for the cheaper heart rate monitors in either the get active or improve fitness category, obviously this will depend on your own personal requirements but if you would like additional features then you can always choose to purchase the higher priced polar heart rate monitors and still receive great value for your money. On top of that you can also export your entire workout onto your PC, laptop or PDA device, and then further analyze your workouts by using the online tools. You can create training logs, share your workouts, track your progress and even challenge your friends. For more information about all of the different polar heart rate monitors on offer or if you would like to purchase one for a special price go to pulseinspired.com
