The crowd was electric at the Roseland Ballroom as Stars in Stereo and Young Guns opened for an very energetic Halestorm and a dynamic Bullet For My Valentine. Bullet played to the packed crowd complete with crowd surfing and the occasional mosh pit.

Bon Jovi brought a set heavy with sugar coated ballads to a swooning Montreal audience on the first night of two shows in the city. The band has moved on from being a must-see rock act to being a curiosity for those who remember 1989. Seeing the band live was once a badge of honour, now it's simply an excuse to get out of the house and let someone else do homework with the kids. Would be nice to see the band rip into older material like "In And Out Of Love", but those days are gone forever.

ZZ Top barnstormed into the Bell Centre in Montreal on November 7th, 2012 delivering their own version of Southern Fried rock with precision to a welcoming crowd. Biggest cheers were, of course, reserved for their '80s triple crown of "Sharped Dressed Man", "Legs" and "Gimme All Your Lovin'".

If anyone knows how to get a party started, it's without a doubt Canada's very own Great Big Sea! They performed a ton of their more popular songs which was a brilliant way of getting the audience to sing, dance and drink along! There was definitely a lot of foot stomping and hand clapping and this show! What a fun performance!

Matthew Good was one of the headliners on the first night of Folk Fest (along with Ben Harper), and he was definitely a treat to see. He played an amazing set which included my favourite Matt Good song, "Avalanche", so I have to admit I was pretty stoked! It was clear that he had a dedicated group of fans in the crowd who were happy to have him perform in Canada's capital city. What a great way to kick off the festival!

German metalers Accept invaded Montreal's Le Métropolis on September 10th, 2012 as part of their "Teutonic Terror Attack" package tour with fellow country men, Kreator. Since changing lead singers a few years ago, Accept are reborn thanks mostly to the energy and power vocals that new singer, Mark Tornillo, brings to the band. Having first seen Accept live in 1983, I can truly say the band's live shows have only gotten more poignant and powerful as time moves on. Do yourself a favor and catch Accept live as soon as possible. They are a force to be reckoned with!

I was thrilled when I heard that I would get the opportunity to photograph one of my favourite bands, Deftones. It was my first time seeing them, they played a KILLER set. They headlined alongside System of a Down on the first night of Heavy MTL 2012, and the crowd sure made it clear that they did not disappoint!

One of the most insane sets of this year's Heavy MTL had to be given by The Dillinger Escape Plan. They gave an absolutely energetic performance, and even preformed in the pit and right in the crowd! They absolutely killed it, craziest set at Heavy, hands down.

The Cult rolled into Montreal's Le Métropolis on September 1st, 2012 and though I never was a fan of the band, the faithful seemed delighted with the night's performance. I personally enjoyed the band playing song after song while skipping the ubiquitous yet unnecessary drum solo and the pee break inducing guitar solo. Fans pay to hear songs and The Cult delivered in spades on that count. Well done!

Heavy TO... the bands were all fantastic, but the crowd might have been, at times, equally as interesting. From plenty of hot rocker women to mud men making the best of the weather, these pictures reflect the event's true soul. Dressing to represent and braving the nasty elements that mother nature dished out those two days, these fans were more than willing to share their love of the music in front of my camera. If you missed this event, you missed a coming together of all sorts of people with one common goal... to rock hard and support great music. And that they did!

I was absolutely blown away by Periphery's set. Myself being a huge fan of Protest the Hero and Today I Caught the Plague (both of whom have recently returned from a U.S. tour with Periphery), I knew I had to check these guys out. And I have to say that I am hooked, they have an incredible sound and put on an amazing set, I can guarantee that this won't be my last time seeing them!

Quebec rock n' rollers Dance Laury Dance were the first band to perform on the second day of Heavy MTL, and did they ever put on a killer show. Their set was energetic, entertaining and all in all, totally insane! As we would say in French, "C'etait totallement metal!".

Torrential rains lit up the skies before the band hit the stage, but despite puddles and mud Foreigner delivered an high-energy show wrapped around years of classic songs. Say what you will, but the true test of any band's worth are songs... timeless songs.

This was by no means my first time seeing Toronto's own Cancer Bats (this was probably my 4th or 5th time), but as usual, they did not disappoint. Lead by vocalist Liam Cormier, they put on a show full of energy and really got the crowd going! They were the last band I got the opportunity to photograph at Heavy MTL and they will always be one of my favourite bands to shoot.
