I have known Miss Amy since we were in elementary school where we would spend lots of time swimming in her pool, going to girl scouts, and having the best birthday parties, and now she is all grown up and getting married this September!! We took these photos of Leston and Amy in Kansas City at the Kauffman Rose Gardens; my favorites are in beautiful sunset with the reflections in the water. We had a fun time making up words to make the two of them giggle I’m super excited for your upcoming big day!

Brandon & Lesya: Unity Village Engagement

Kansas City has had the craziest weather recently, we go from 70′s one day to 10″ of snow on the ground the next. For Lesya and Brandon’s engagement session, it was a chilly afternoon but we were blessed with the most beautiful winter sunlight. We went to Unity Village by Lee’s Summit, Missouri… which by the way, did you know that it is its own city!? The campus is huge and had so many wonderful architecture and backgrounds for us to take pictures with! PLUS this is the same place where they will be getting married later this June!! I loved the idea of having their engagement session at the same venue but during a different season. Brandon and Lesya, I just love your natural interactions that makes taking your picture so much fun! I can’t wait for your wedding, its going to be so beautiful!!

AJ & Anna: Siblings in the Snow

This week in Kansas City we were hit pretty hard with some major snow storms, which made for some terrible traffic but also produced a beautiful winter wonderland. My little brother and sister were excited that they got several days off of school so we spent this afternoon taking some photos out in the chilly weather with the big fluffy snowflakes falling all around.

Hargis Family: Celebrating One and Three

This year my niece, Ryleigh, turned THREE and baby Cole, a.k.a. Bubby, turned ONE! So of course we had to celebrate with some updated family photos! The weather during winter in Kansas is known for never being consistent.. one day its warm and 70 and the next day its a blizzard. So we ended up taking the photos below about a month apart as it was probably about 30 degrees the first day we took them. I can’t believe how big these kids are getting and how much personalities they emote now that they are growing up to be little Beth & Nate!

Scholtz Family: Welcome to the World, Baby Greg!

I had the honor of photographing my beautiful friend, Susan, and her growing family. Two months ago they welcomed baby Greg to the world and what a darling little boy he is!! Now I don’t typically shoot a lot of newborns, but I really wanted to explore a new type of photography to me called lifestyle photography, where I document their family, during this point exact moment in their lives, just as they are, in their natural environment, and I LOVED it! It’s a lot more candid than typical newborn shoots, with mommy and daddy just naturally interacting and loving on their baby boy. Nick & Alysha: A Kansas City Engagement

What a beautiful day we were blessed with in the month of JANUARY to be able to capture Nick and Alysha’s engagement photos. We went to the River Market in Kansas City for some urban scenery then headed to the new Kauffman Center where some pretty sunlight peeked through the clouds at the very end. They were so much fun to be around and that girl can definitely rock those peach heels! I can’t wait til your wedding in August!!

Josh & Juliana: Winter Wedding at The Pavilion

Josh and Juliana’s wedding day was perfect. There was so much emotion for everyone involved and they really made this wedding very personal and in the short time I got to know them, it was very them. Besides the chilly weather, they were blessed with a sunny day surrounded by the best of friends and family. Juliana did a first look with her dad, which was so special and first time I’ve ever photographed that kind of first look. Jessica and Allison with Plans & Promises did an amazing job at all of the planning and decorating for the wedding and helped everything go very smooth. Now Josh is a pretty awesome dancer, making their first dance and mother-son dance very entertaining to watch. Thank you both so much for letting me document this special day in your life and for all of the laughs, joy and happy tears.

Joe & Stacy: Stolen From Canada Part II: A Fall Wedding at Grand River Chapel

Joe and Stacy’s wedding took place at the Grand River Chapel on the Campus of William Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri, a perfect venue for a small and intimate wedding. It was such an honor when my little sister Kathy asked me to not only be her matron of honor, but her wedding photographer as well! It was so special to be able to pass down my wedding dress to my sister Beth and now Katherine and to also have her get married in the same place that I did 4 years ago, in the Wesley Chapel at Church of the Resurrection. Allison and Jessica from Plans & Promises did an amazing job at planning and decorating the wedding. Everything went perfectly on this beautiful fall day, and best of all, my sister is married to an incredible man. And that Father/Daughter dance… oh jeez… still has me cracking up (see pics below)!! And I could not have done it without my awesome team of photography paparazzi: Nancy, Tiffany, Megan, and Mike, thank you all so so much! Corey & Elizabeth: A Topeka Wedding at Sixth Avenue Ballroom

Corey and Elizabeth’s wedding reception had the best line-dancers I’ve ever seen at a wedding, hands-down! Seriously… it seemed like everyone at the reception knew ALL of these dances! I have got to learn some of those, they were so much fun! It was a beautiful fall day with some crazy wind, but we found a nice little alley way right next to the venue to get some great shots of the bridal party. Corey’s expressions as he was anxiously awaiting for Elizabeth to walk down the aisle were priceless. Congratulations you two!!
