As I noted in an article overnight, I think this move is designed to make the annual subscription look more attractive, as that’s not changing. Clearly, the Japanese giant wants to stop customers from bouncing around, picking up piddly little subs here and there.

A lot of you reading this won't agree, but I think almost every single 'smaller' RPG that Square Enix has released over the last decade or so suffers from the same problem: bad pacing.

To be fair, this isn't just a Square Enix problem. Modern gaming in general seriously struggles to tell well-paced stories thanks to the rise of open world busywork and the visual novel-ification of dialogue delivery.

You can now play Time Crisis on PS5 and PS4, and that's certainly cause for celebration. The arcade shooter remains an all-timer, and you can either grab it from the PS Store standalone, or claim it through a PS Plus Premium subscription.

But it's just such a shame that publisher Bandai Namco simply refuses to add Trophy support to its line of PS1 and PS2 classics. Needless to say, Time Crisis opts to skip digital trinkets altogether.

PlayStation Studios lead Hermen Hulst confirmed to staff in an internal meeting today that first-party single player titles made by the company will now remain exclusive to PS5 and won't be ported to PC, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reports.

Following up on his report from March, Schreier said on Bluesky: "PlayStation studio business CEO Hermen Hulst told staff in a town hall Monday morning that the company's narrative single-player games will now be PlayStation exclusive, confirming Bloomberg's reporting from earlier this year."

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the legendary game developer most commonly known for the creation of Final Fantasy, has somehow found himself caught in the middle of a debate about AI on social media.

Sony has today confirmed it's raising the price of PS Plus Essential, the service's base tier, for new subscribers.

The increase comes into effect from this Wednesday, 20th May 2026 due to "ongoing market conditions", and raises the prices of one-month and three-month memberships. It seems the 12-month option isn't impacted. If you let your current PS Plus membership expire, you will need to start paying the increased price.
