I’m a college student for a month now (we started on May 21)! Woah. That’s fast! I’m enjoying even though there’s a lot of work to do.

Went yesterday to Market! Market! because of an event. I’ll post an entry about it in the next few days. It’s really for our reflection paper but hey, I want to share it.

It’s irritating because it’s raining hard these days! The internet connection keeps on fluctuating! Go away Frank (the typhoon)! LOL.

Working on my reflection paper for the event I attended yesterday. Ahh! I can’t think well. 1 page left and I’m finish.

Haven’t updated my blog lately. I can’t think of what to post. LOL. And yeah, busy with school. My midterm is on the first week of July! GAWD!

Early Reunion with HS Friends

2 days ago, I had my reunion with my HS friends. Oh, we were not complete (8 only). It was fun even though we spent the time together only for a short time (kind of like 2 hours). I was late! The meeting time was supposed to be 1 PM, but I arrived there at around 2:30 PM. My classes ended at 12:50 PM. Before proceeding, my college friends and I got a handout for our POLIGOV class. We went to a 7-Elven store for a snack. Yes, I know from the start that I will be late. LOL!

The thing that really bothered me was when my magnet ticket (used to enter and to exit the LRT) fell inside the train. I was like @$#%@! So foolish of me to hold it while there were many people around. Whew. But someone returned it! I was relieved. What if I didn’t get it? Maybe I’ll pay for the ticket again. I’m buying the stored value one because I don’t want to line up over and over again. Hahaha! That was a fun and scary experience! :)

My first three days as a college student was fun! There were a lot of new things – new friends, new classmates/blockmates, new school, new educators, new experiences, new environment, and many more. I’m taking up Multimedia Arts at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. The start of the classes was early because the school follows the trimester system. My brain is still wandering! LOL. I’m procrastinating a lot too! I said I will do all my assignments this morning but I only finished one (out of 4). :))

Randomnities # 2

I can now sleep EARLY, so early that sometimes I am in bed at 8:30 PM. I wake up at 5 or 6 AM. HAHAHA! Really weird sleeping habit, huh?

I’m wearing my retainers for almost 1 week. I remove it though when I am going outside because it’s hard to speak if it’s in my teeth. My brother (yeah, he’s a dentist/nurse) told me that it's fine but I should wear it when sleeping.

I will become a college student next week! I’m nervous and at the same time excited. I met my blockmates, and so far I’m enjoying their company. :)

My blog is now 76 days old. :D

Speaking of my blog, the code for the selective expandable post I found on other tutorial blogs is not working properly or is it me having problems? It’s working perfectly in Internet Explorer but not in Mozilla Firefox. Aww. I’ll try it again some time.

I love the rainy weather this summer but it will become a pain when the classes start! AWW. Also, the heavy rain is also the cause why the electric power fluctuates. NO!

Addicted to David Cook’s Always Be My Baby! So hawt. LOL. I am hearing it most in the Friendster profiles I visited.

The military people in the PBB house are funny especially in their first day! The teen housemates were really shocked. It reminds me of my CAT class when I was still a 4^th year High School student.

Review: Midori no Hibi

High school delinquent Seiji Sawamura is desperate to have a girlfriend, especially after being rejected by 20 girls as of late. He's afraid that he will end his life with his right hand as his only companion. Apparently, that doesn't change when one day when he wakes up and discovers that his right hand has become a girl named Midori Kasugano, who confesses that she has had a crush on him for the last three years. Story and Characters - 4/5

‘Mad Dog’ Seiji Sawamura, a high school student, are into fights, and he is feared because of the infamous “Devil’s Right Hand”. Having these titles make his reputation bad. Actually, he asks 20 girls in a row and eventually gets being dump. On the other hand, Midori Kasugano secretly falls in love with delinquent Seiji. She watches him for 3 years already and is too shy to confess her feelings. One day, Seiji wakes up and finds out that Midori becomes his right hand.

The story of Midori no Hibi or Midori Days (in English) is really impossible. A girl becomes a right hand of a boy? No way! But this is an anime so anything can be real. LOL! Anyway, the story works well especially in comedy. At first, Seiji doesn’t care with Midori’s feeling but as they get to know each other better, their emotions are seen developing. Their secret though must be kept unknown or else they will stumble into a big problem.

Moving on to the characters, Midori becomes an energetic person or should I say right hand when he meets Seiji. She constantly confesses her feelings to him but he doesn’t care. Midori even makes shirt with the label “I ♥ Seiji”, “Seiji all the way”, and many more. LOL! Seiji still wants a girlfriend even Midori gets in the way.

Characters are greatly developed even though the episodes are only 13. I got attached to them. Some of the episodes show some skins (a little ecchi) but in a comedic way. Well, the ending really made me cry so hard!

Art - 4/5

I love the animation and the character design because it looks fresh to the eyes. You can tell apart which character is in the scene. Studio Pierrot produced this anime. Well, I can say that they do the job well. :)

Sound - 3.5/5

Midori no Hibi boasts its opening and ending themes because it is good and appealing. The voice actors/actresses have done the job okay! Seiji’s funny when he gets mad so easily, and he will tell things so loud. On the other hand, Midori has a cute and angelic voice.

Overall - 4/5

Midori no Hibi, 13 episodes, is very good and awesome. Like the others, I cried in the ending. LOL! This is not your ordinary romance-comedy anime even though it shows skin in some of the episodes. It also contains good values that we can appreciate. The conflicts in the story are solved, I think. I want to emphasize the things that will happen after the ending. 13 episodes are not enough after all. Anyway, Seiji reminds me of Ichigo from Bleach because of the attitude and the look. I recommend Midori no Hibi to all especially to those who are in love but can’t confess their true feelings. You can learn from this. :)

By the way, Puzzled Me was launched on March 1, 2008. Once again, ~~I’ll transfer~~ I transferred these Jan and Feb (except for 2) entries to my first blog. Thanks to Blogger’s feature! I have been reading posts from other blogs about the page rank update. I get curious so I checked mine here. My PR Rank became 2. I’m not really familiar with it but I’m happy.

This afternoon, my braces were removed after 4 years and 3 months of wearing it. I’m adjusting to the changes. Well, it’s hard. I have had it since I was a Grade 6 student. I’ll be switching to retainer in the coming days.

I'm planning to watch Midori No Hibi (for the second time), Lucky Star, Get Backers, and Card Captor Sakura.

My enrollment for college is scheduled next week. I’m nervous yet excited!

I’m having a hard time sleeping this summer season. zOMG! Maybe because I’m not tired. LOL! I just sit here in front of the computer the whole day.

Addicted to Colbie Caillat’s Realize! I listen to that song over and over again in my iPOD. Blame PBB :). They play that song whenever Josef and Nicole, also called YoNic, have primetime moments. But I don’t like their love team. :P

Review: Death Note

Story and Characters - 5/5

Light, a mysterious but eccentric genius, stumbles across a Death Note, which allows its owner to kill any person by writing his/her name given that the owner knows the person's face. If the death is not specified within 40 seconds, the person will die from heart attack. Light desires to create a perfect world using the Death Note. As he tries to achieve it, the famous detective L is assigned to track him down.

At first, I am a bit hesitant to watch this because I thought it was full of violence. But to my surprise, the physical violence is not too many. After all, the Death Note provides instant death.

Light and L are so incredible when it comes to deducing. I pity Misa, the main girl character, because Light is just using her for his own interest! There are also numerous plot twists that keep the story intriguing. Yeah, a lot! I’ll not spoil it to keep the thrill.

Art - 5/5

The character animation is excellent and realistic. You can feel a certain connection with them. The art of the anime sets the mood well. Sometimes it’s creepy especially in death scenes.

Sound - 3.5/5

I find the opening and closing themes average. I don’t like some of it. Some of the background theme is scary. It gives me goosebumps. On the other hand, the voice actors portrayed their characters really well. After all, they have experience. Light’s VA is Mamoru Miyano who voiced Tamaki from the anime Ouran High School Host Club. Misa’s VA is Aya Hirano who voiced Haruhi from the anime Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. L’s VA is Kappei Yamaguchi who voiced Inuyasha from the anime Inuyasha.

Overall - 4.5/5

Death Note (37 episodes) is really impressive. I even bought a notebook in Comic Alley. Hahaha. The Shinigamis here looks so different from the Shinigamis in Bleach. Lawl! If you are a fan of thriller anime, this is for you. :)

Review: ABNKKBSNPLAKo?! by Bob Ong

I re-read Bob Ong’s ABNKKBSNPLAKo?! because I am bored. Well, it is still funny as ever. I also can’t help myself but remember my high school and elementary days. Bob Ong is, indeed, a genius because I find his way of delivering wonderful message amazing.

Bob Ong also struggles with Math! He said though that Math is the universal language because it is everywhere. He tells that there are 12 kinds of high school students found in pages 99-102. The tone becomes serious in the middle part wherein Bob Ong narrates his college life.

ABNKKBSNPLAKo?! makes me think what will happen after college. I’m so nervous! Anyway, I know this book is old and many have read it. Still, buy this Bob Ong classic if you have time because it’s worth keeping. You can go back to your memories of your school life while reading it. Surely, Filipino students, teachers and the likes can relate to it. :)

On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behavior is Kyon who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. When Kyon comments about Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves dragged, literally, into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short). Story and Characters - 4/5

Presenting “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”, one of the weirdest, funniest, and coolest anime series I have seen. It is weird because the episodes are not chronological in order, funny because I can’t stop laughing with unexpected scenes and cool because it covers various genres. Actually, this is the second time I have seen this series but now I watched it in chorological order.

Apparently, this anime follows the life of Haruhi Suzumiya, a young and very active girl who has no interest in ordinary humans. Even though she is the central character, the story is told from Kyon’s point of view, her classmate. Kyon is the one who gave Haruhi the idea to form her own club because she quits every school club she joins after feeling bored.

Haruhi names the club S.O.S Brigade or “Save our world by overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi’s Brigade”. Kyon is unwilling to, but Haruhi forces him to join. She didn’t even give poor Kyon a chance? Lawl! Soon, 3 more “victims” (Yuki, Mikuru, Koizumi) having strange identities join the club. Watch the anime and you’ll find out.

Even though Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has 14 episodes only, characters are greatly developed. Anyway, just don’t forget to enjoy Haruhi’s devilish acts. Don’t also be fooled with the first episode! It’s not really the story. Lawl!

Well done, Kyoto Animation! For me, everything is superb: impressive animation, detailed backgrounds, cute character designs and all. Enough said. :)

Sound - 5/5

The opening music and the ending music are sung by Aya Hirano, the voice actress of Haruhi. Many are hooked dancing the ending music entitled Hare Hare Yukai. In fact, videos of people dancing it are uploaded everywhere. The voice actors especially Aya Hirano have done a good job because their voices suit well with their characters.

Overall - 4.5/5

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is not your typical High School anime. An anime packed with fun, adventures and misadventures. Again, don’t be fooled with the first episode! I’m also a bit shocked when I played the first episode but it is not really the ‘thing’. Lawl! If you have time, watch this anime. By the way, the chronological order of the episode is 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, and 9. I can’t wait for the second season!

Review: Fate/Stay Night

Shirou Emiya lost his parents in a fire when he was young and was later adopted by a sorcerer by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya. Although he was full of admiration for his adopted father and yearns to become an ally of justice, Shirou has limited powers and was unable to become a strong sorcerer like his father. That is until one fateful day, he was drawn into the Holy Grail War and had to summon a female "Servant" known as Saber in order to protect himself. It turns out that the Holy Grail War involves a series of battles among powerful sorcerers to fight for the possession of a relic that will grant one's wishes, the Holy Grail. There are altogether seven "Masters" who can summon their respective "Servants" from different classes known as Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster and Assasin. These "Servants" have to hide their names in order not to reveal their weaknesses to the enemies. The story revolves around Shirou and his entanglement in the Holy Grail War. From Anime News Network

Story and Characters - 4/5

Fate/Stay Night has a very interesting story because it involves sorcery, history and mythology. You’ll get what I mean if you watch the series. There are 7 people who are chosen to become masters. Each of them can summon a servant, a heroic soul from the past, who will fight for them to achieve the “Holy Grail”. The Holy Grail grants any wish, noble or wicked, that the master and the servant desire. Of course, normal people in the city don’t know about this war.

Shirou, one of the masters, is the central character of the anime. He is a half-magician and a young naive man who wants to end the Holy Grail war without inflicting harm to anyone. Heroes are always like that after all. Shirou accidentally summoned Saber who is known to be the strongest among the servants. He teams up with Rin Tohsaka, also a master. Rin is a pure magician and nearly kills Shirou when they are not yet allies. Ilya is also there. A sweet and innocent child but has a cold heart when it comes to fighting.

As the story goes on, Shirou and Saber’s relationship deepens from that of a master and servant. Rin starts to care more about Shirou. Even though some characters are not developed fully such as Archer (Rin’s servant), the anime still goes well. There are a lot of characters that you will see: from masters, servants and to normal people. Each of them has unique characteristics you may admire.

I find many questions in my mind while watching this anime. All of it are answered after watching the whole series. Some of my speculations are wrong and far from what I expected. This show is really addicting because of its twists and turns. I also feel some goose bumps because of scary and emotional scenes. But there are also funny moments especially with Tiger (Shirou’s teacher). Lawl!

Art - 4/5

The art in Fate/Stay Night is nice. The artists did the job well to make the character designs, backgrounds, and special effects great. The fight scenes are superb especially the Noble Phantasms.

Sound - 4/5

The opening and closing songs are quite decent for me. The background music used throughout the anime sets the mood well. Depressing and lonely music are for sad scenes, creepy for intense scenes, and lively for funny scenes.

Voicing is done well. Saber’s voice is the best in the anime. It really fits her personality because the seiyuu’s voice is sharp. Ilya’s voice on the other hand is cute because it’s like innocent and pure! Archer is hawt when he speaks English in one of the fighting scene. Lawl!

Overall - 4/5

Fate/Stay Night (24 episodes) is not all action; there are parts that are funny, parts that are emotional, parts that are intriguing and all. I enjoyed this anime so much because when I finished a single episode, I can’t stop myself from continuing.

The anime shows the sad reality of people being greedy because some of the masters kill innocent people even they have nothing to do with the war just to gain more power. Also, if you are fond of history, mythology or history, you can watch this series because some characters are derived from the three. Fate/Stay Night, recommended!
