Zelda Still Nothing More Than a Phantom

Last week, Nintendo announced that \"for the first time\" Link and Zelda will team up to save Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.nbsp; When I first came across this bit of news, I honestly didn\'t think much of it.nbsp; Don\'t get me wrong -- I\'m looking forward to the next adventure with Link on the DS -- but after playing it at E3, I have had modest expectations on new gameplay. The more I thought about this new bit of news, the more excited I got.nbsp; After 20+ years of waiting to be saved by Link, Zelda is coming to the forefront to assert herself as a dominant character in the series.nbsp; With major female protagonists in triple-A titles countable on one hand, I was encouraged to see this step up for such a beloved character.nbsp; Perhaps Zelda could do a little adventuring on her own without being Sheik or Tetra. As I began collecting my resources for this article, setti

Is Digital Distribution the Future

It\'s fairly safe that we can all assume that the future of movies and game sales is digital distribution. How long the duration will be for it to take over is anybody\'s guess. It will be more determined by the willingness of people to download a game as opposed to having a physical copy than anything else.
Delivery systems like GameTap, Direct2Drive and most notably Steam, have been digitally distributing PC games for years and have been met with success. It seems as though PC players are more willing to buy digital distribution than their console counterparts -- maybe because it\'s been available longer and they feel more comfortable with it or maybe it\'s because they don\'t care about having a physical copy since they can not trade it in anyhow.
Many people seem to prefer digital distribution (DD) if it offers them a better value. Why buy a game on DVD at $49.99 if it\'s available

Visceral Games Is Full Of Heretics And Baby Killers

I have been called some bad things in the past, as recent as nine minutes ago. I\'ve received hate letters based on my thoughts and opinions all the time. So it should probably go without saying that the people over at Visceral Games and the inferno team at EA get hit with this just about at often because of Dante\'s Inferno. Christians are probably going even crazier knowing they have been used for promotions as much as Rick Astley has been on the internet for jokes. But I digress.
The above assumption is no longer needed now, as the Dev\'s have just come out and stated the hate they get. As well as show off a bit of what is going on in the sixth level of hell, Heresy. A level all about doing what Visceral and EA are accused of. Also a level that looks like it is going to be full of fire and flames and fun.
Here\'s the video of this such Heresy. Or rather awesomeness. As this is how i

Friends of yours are decorating there house on \"pet society\" or they are working on learning a new recipe over at \"restaurant city.\" It\'s common-place, it\'s all over the news feeds, and now it\'s owned by EA. With EA\'s new interactive business department, we seenbsp;yet another step into social networking and media. With their recent release of Dragon Age: Origins, and theie social networking site in conjunction with Bioware, it\'s no surprise that they are pushing forward to more social media.
EA has just announced that it acquired Playfish for $275 million dollars. Playfish boasts about 60 million players worldwide, and across 10 different game titles. This is a trend, this is the future. The game was met with strong sales in Japan this past week and is poised for a US release this upcoming January.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Impressions

The impressions on the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer you are about to read are from our owner and friend, Andy Briggs.nbsp; When he isn\'t melting people\'s faces off on Xbox Live, you can find him on Pwned.com and Twitter.com.nbsp; Well with the release date on a few days away. I figured I would toss
in my impressions of the multiplayer. Of course, it is quite reminiscent
of the previous CoDs, this one just has a bit more of a special touch to
it. Mainly, what I am talking about is the different types of
achievements (can\'t remember what they are called) that accumulate to
many different points. Now it is quite easy to rack up 1K points in a
single team deathmatch, but to balance it out, you need more points to
level up. One example I can give you, is that you can stick a grenade
to someone, not only will you get the kill points, you\'ll get extra
points for sticking someone, A

When dealing with the end of the world and pretty much the end of days, what would you expect your goals to be? Probably get laid one last time. Go on a drunken binge. Maybe even see what it is like to kill a person. Maybe even go looting through treasure chests that you may find around the world while riding a horse for 100 miles. Doesn\'t that sound about right for the general populace of the world? Well what about the horseman of War?
As you will no doubtingly have seen by now or will, below is the list of Achievements/Trophies you will be tasked with completing while saving the world from the Apocalypse in Darksiders. Most of which seem pretty straight forward and story progressed. Some of them look like the were pulled from Fairytale Fights and Brütal Legend. I\'m looking at you \"Spill 3000 Gallons of Blood\" and \"Kill 666 Demons.\" No hiding there.

There\'s no real way to hide from a collector\'s edition. Every game is going to have one, and if you disagree - it\'s only because you have yet to find it. Mark my words. This edition is supposed to be limited in quantities, though I would wager that there will somehow be more copies trickling in after the initial rush. The fun\'o\'plenty pack is going to have a tin case, a hard cover \"Art of Mass Effect 2\" book, an issue from the Mass Effect Redemption comic and a behind-the-scenes DVD. Bioware is also saying that there will be unique in-game weapons and armor that can only be obtained by purchasing this edition. I\'m hoping that this \"unique content\" is different than the other \"unique content\" suggested that gamers would recieve upon completion of the Mass Effect side story, Galaxies aka Jacob\'s Story, title on the iPhone. With Modern Warfare and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles both gracing shelves in the next two weeks, one after the other, it would seem time for the final launch trailers to hit the webs to give us even more reason to want these games. Well at least using the in game graphics and not the epic CGI that Square Enix usually throws at us to get our panties in a bunch about Final Fantasy. And well, that\'s pretty much it for these too.
Review: Torchlight

There are times in any gamer’s life when you find yourself blearily looking for a clock, attempting to adjust your eyes to read the time. You find yourself trying to comprehend how the time reported is much later than the internal clock in your head. How much time have you lost? Minutes? Hours? If Runic Games is using that time as a measure of success of their recently released Action-RPG Torchlight, there must be a party in Washington every night!
The story begins in the small mining village of Torchlight. Ember, a mineral of extraordinary power (and possible corruption) was found in a nearby mine. In fact, it is the largest vein of the mineral ever discovered and now everyone wants a piece of the action. Unfortunately for the would-be rich, evil monsters arose from the depths to attack the community and cease the operation. You, as one of three characters, will set off to find the s

More Modern Warfare 2 PC Woes

The bad gets worse. PC gamers have often been on the short end of the stick on gaming for awhile now except for one thing: Multiplayer. Mods, dedicated servers, better clan support, and VOIP programs like Ventrilo and Teamspeak usually make the PC multiplayer experience better than their console counterparts. Modern Warfare 2, which is poised to be the best selling FPS of all time, is only full of disappointments to the PC crowd unfortunately.Dedicated servers have already been taken away from the PC version and now comes more. The first blow comes via the amount of player able to play on a server. COD4 (keeping in mind that these were on dedicated servers)nbsp; allowed up to 32 players to play. MW2 allows 18. 9v9. So not only will you not be able to have a clan server, if you\'re clan has more than 9 players in it you aren\'t even going to be able to all play at the same time. Let\'s no

Imagine that you are a character from your favorite fairytale. The main character, if you will. Now imagine that some one has gone through your story and removed the part where you were the important and significant. Everyone shunned and ignored you in your own story. What would you do? Go bat nuts crazy and slaughter all of the cute inhabitants to show that you really are the star again? It\'s what I would do.
Well that is the very basic version of what is going on in Play Logic\'s Fairytale Fights. A fun little platformer game where no creature is safe from being hacked into little bits or crushed into pulp. How does it size up? Well let me tell you.
Controls:
Looking at this game, you would think that it would be pretty much the same basic controls for any other game in its genre, which it is, to an extent. The main deviation from the standards, move with stick and use buttons to

As I am sure by now you have heard of, seen, and/or played a bit of Darksiders. Either from your favorite news source or at your favorite gaming convention. Well curiosity is sated a bit more with THQ\'s latest trailer for the game. Nicknamed the Mayhem trailer. Which, as the name implies, shows a lot of the mayhem and madness that is going on in the game world for Darksiders. People running for their lives. Angels coming to Earth. Deals being made to help destroy everything. Total mayhem.
I\'m actually left wanting more mayhem here. That and the date of Darksiders to get here sooner. January 8th, as the trailer says, seems like eons from now. But from the looks of it, the game should be totally worth the wait and all the game convention teas

Here We Go Again, WoW Rejected In China Again

And here we go again, the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) put a hold onto NetEase\'s request for World of Warcraft to be approved in China. This has been an ongoing battle for some time now. The9\'s license agreement with blizzard expired this year and was won by NetEase in April of this year.
NetEase had a three year agreement for World of Warcraft only to have there application \"passed up\" due to \"violating the rules\". Here\'s the problem, The9 had this game in operation in china for four years, count \'em four years. The GAPP knows what the game is and how it plays. The9 gave up the license and now noone gets to play. A little ridiculous if you ask me. The GAPP needs to decide what they want to do with this game and move on. Players have been in limbo for the past year, waiting for someone to make a decision and now another hold up, with very little detail.

Review: Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Ratchet and Clank has enjoyed a really good run these past 7 years, and A Crack in Time is a great cap to the \"future\" series. In what may be the final game in the series, Ratchet must rescue Clank from Dr. Nefarious (the villain from Up Your Arsenal, the third game in the series).
Before we get in to deep, let\'s get a quick glance back at the Future trilogy thus far. In Tools of Destruction, an evil tyrant named Tachyon set out to revenge against the Lombax\'s for destroying his race. This is the first hint we get that Ratchet isn\'t the last Lombax in the galaxy. Ratchet and Clank defeat Tachyon but then Clank gets taken away by the Zoni, who had previously \"helped\" him throughout the game. Tools of Destruction ends with the kidnapping of Clank. And thus begins the shortest DLC only (in America) title in the Future series: Quest for Booty. In this episode, Ratchet is still lookin

Aion - A Casual MMO Player\'s Impressions

Disclaimer: This is not an official review of Aion, but will be from the perspective of a casual MMO player, and serves more as an impressions of my first month with the game. As of writing this, I have reached level 16 with Asmodyian Assassin and around level 10 with each of my 3 other characters.
Aion is the latest MMORPG from Korean developer NCSoft, and was quick to break pre-order records amongst MMO tiles with over 400,000 pre-ordered. Aion utilizes the Crytek engine and produces beautiful results. Aion takes place in the world of Atreia, and you choose one of two opposing races of humans. The Asmodyians come from the dark, underground world of Asmodae, and are more beast like creatures with claws for fingers and toes. The Elysian race, come from Elysia, which is more of the lighter side of Atreia.
No mater which race you choose, the basic leveling and quests are the same regardl

Review: DJ Hero (aka Last Night a DJ Hero Saved My Life)

Reinventing the Vinyl WheelYour palms sweat heavily as you approach the stage. There\'s a twitch, a solitary twinge of excitement racing through your veins and ready to explode from the tips of your fingers onto the vinyl that awaits you. The lights flicker and flash and the crowd roars as you make your entrance. You deftly weave between songs and paradoxical rhythmic patterns, cross-fading between sultry sirens and heard edged break beats. You match the intensity of the crowd with every pull of the record, every scratch rivaled by their increased volume. You give them what they want. Turntablism at its finest. And then you prepare your signature weapon. The grandest mix of them all. As the Jackson 5 begin to ramp up with “I Want You Back”, you ready the second portion of this sonic arsenal.. Third Eye Blind\'s “Semi-Charmed Kind of Life.” Wait.. What?Yeah, though the gameplay is

Nintendo DLC For The Week Of 11/2/09

When I looked at the list of downloadable content this week for Nintendo, I was shocked to see eight titles listed for the three \"platforms\" available. For so long, the Big \'N\' was releasing one title a week on each platform: WiiWare, DSiWare and Virtual Console. Many people, including myself, asked why Nintendo was holding back, especially in light of the fact that first party titles haven\'t exactly been busting down retail doors in a short period of time. Unfortunately, when looking at what the public received, you begin to understand why the big push.
Looking at the DSiWare selections this week, your attention is drawn immediately to the first party photo application, Sparkle Snapshots. For 500 DSiWare points ($5), you can play around with your DSi photos and embellish them to send them to your friends over Nintendo Wi-Fi. With so many small applications being sold by Nintendo u
