For a long time, watching television was a straightforward event. The couch in the living room was facing the TV and a certain number of channels played certain shows at a designated time. When someone said, “I’m going to watch TV,” it was clear what that meant.

Today, it’s not that simple. Watching TV can mean a lot of things: TV via Internet, web content via TV, video on demand, IPTV, cable, satellite, DVB-T, mobile television, etc. Let’s not forget that with broadband internet connections and the integration of Wi-Fi chips into television sets, the technical framework has changed fundamentally.

With GOAB we take the latest trends, bring the loose ends together, develop established ideas further and develop new concepts to provide a possible answer to the question: How do we want to watch television in the future?

More about the project and the Syzygy Lab

Skoda have just released a new rally based, augmented reality test drive campaign for the new Fabia RS where users become the driver in every way, right down to the helmet view that pulls in your face from the webcam.

It’s a decently reactive AR game compared with many out there that ooze lag, but it’s still tough to control (because it’s a rally car?) at the end of the day, however, the overall experience and sound effects kind of mask any AR issues well enough to have a bit of fun as you post your fastest laps to Facebook and challenge friends to get involved. Click here to check out the campaign site.

Creative technology is increasingly central to digital marketing. For that reason, in 2007 Dare invested in a bespoke New Product Development department: Dare Labs. Steered by representatives from all disciplines and key client teams, this dedicated resource has a remit to explore new technologies, develop prototypes and keep the rest of the agency informed of the possibilities out there.

One such application we’ve newly released to the Apple iTunes app store is the brand new Dare Labs Remote Palette.

Why? Dare Labs explores new and innovative technologies, ‘off-brief’, allowing us the opportunity to come up with brand new ideas and then put them forward to clients. The technology behind the Remote Palette is one of the first-of-its-kind and has already found its way into a number of groundbreaking products for clients.

Exploring the pleasure of engaging with ‘invisible technology’ between two devices, the Remote Palette showcases how an iPhone and iPad device can seamlessly work together to create a rich and enjoyable drawing experience.

The iPad screen is left as a completely blank canvas to draw upon, with the iPhone performing the role of control tool. The iPhone is where the user can select from different coloured paints and brushes, before using their fingers to paint directly onto the iPad in a delightful, simple way. With a very simple interface and no instructions required the Remote Palette also contains a selection of kids canvasses which can be coloured in.

As an intuitive and fun application the Remote Palette has potential to appeal to kids and adults alike. We have recently launched this app on iTunes, and we intend to extend and enhance its features. As a fun, entertaining and original application the app could have broad appeal if associated with childrens, educational or consumer brands.

When Nike launched the CTR360 football boot in Singapore, they wanted something that could deliver the revolutionary features that make this product the ultimate in ball control.

At the time, they had an A4 product sheet. So the brief to us was simple: Beat that!

We set about creating an interactive in-store experience: where ball control and product knowledge of the Nike CTR360 was both seamless and seductive.

Taking our cue from the Apple Mighty Mouse, we asked ourselves a question: could we achieve the same thing with an actual football? To build a retail installation where people use their feet to control the experience, and demonstrate the importance of total ball control.

By successfully controlling the ball, you learned how the Nike CTR360 boot could deliver the control you need when you need it most: in the game.
