A couple of months back we released an integration with Brightcove, the leading online video platform, to enable Qikkers to automatically post their videos to Brightcove. Based on feedback from customers, we are now taking this a step forward where you can go live to Brightcove - right from your mobile phone. With this, Brightcove customers can now produce exciting live content from their mobile phones and Qik media and enterprise customers can now monetize their live mobile video content through the Brightcove platform.

Already using the Qik and Brightcove integration?

Refer to this article in our Support Wiki on how to enable live broadcasting to Brightcove. This would then create a player as shown below that can be embedded on any website, blog to view videos live from mobile phones using Qik.

New to Qik and Brightcove integration?

Login and go to Edit Profile > Edit Networks and click the Brightcove icon.

Follow the instructions on the screen. Additional details are available in this support article or in the video below

For all the Nokia and Symbian Qikkers out there – we have an update of the Qik client for Nokia Series 60 3rd edition, Nokia Series 60 5th edition touch phones and Samsung Omnia HD i890. You can download this update from http://d.qik.com on your phone.

Signup using Facebook Connect: If you are a new user or if you have signed up for Qik using Facebook Connect on qik.com, you can now connect your Facebook account right from your phone. Simply click the “Login As” field in the signup form and select Facebook Connect. This will walk you through the process of connecting your Facebook account to Qik. Then when you start Qikking just press Share and select Facebook to post the video directly to your wall.

Share with your phone contacts with the Speed Sharing Ribbon: The Qik Speed Sharing Ribbon makes it fast and easy to share your experiences with your friends and family from the phone. You can now create shortcuts to select contacts from your phone address book and place those shortcuts on the Speed Sharing Ribbon that appears in the bottom of the screen when you press Share. Then next time you start Qikking all you need to do is press Share and double tap the contact and an SMS / email will be sent to the person with the link to the video that they can then view from their phone just by clicking the link.

We’re excited today to unveil Qik for Ning, the social platform for interests and passions online. By joining forces with Ning, Qik is now available to more than 1.5 million Ning Networks and 33 million Ning Network members.

Ning Network Creators now have even greater choice over the features and applications they can add to Ning Networks to create the perfect social experience for a given topic, interest or passion. Today, Ning Apps are available for e-commerce, information, education, causes and entertainment. To see Qik, please visit the Ning Apps Directory here.

What does this mean for Qik users? Now you can stream live to your Ning Network with unprecedented ease.

Ning Apps extend the Ning Platform by providing more than 90 new diverse and rich applications like Qik for Ning Network Creators. With Ning Apps, a Ning Network Creator can now add Qik to expand the functionality of their Ning Network and increase engagement by their members.

We’re excited to be developing Qik for the Ning Platform, and the functionality this offers to Qik users and Ning Network members. This is just the beginning, though – we’re excited to see where users take this functionality, and we plan to add even more capabilities to this integration.

This is just the latest way that Qik allows you to share your videos with those who matter to you – whether it’s friends, family, or people with a common interest on a Ning Network.

The Ning Platform provides a new way for Qik to reach more people, faster. Rather than being added by individual members, when a Ning Network Creator adds Qik to their Ning Network, by default it’s available to all members automatically, regardless of whether a Ning Network has 100, 1,000 or 1 million members.

“Ning is committed to being the social platform for the world’s interests and passions,” said Jay Parikh, senior vice president of product engineering. “Qik is a great example of the innovative and creative set of diverse features Ning Apps offer the more than 33 million members of Ning Networks today.”

Windows Mobile Qikkers out there – we have a new version (4.21) now available with a cool new look, much improved sharing to social networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and better performance and frames per second, especially on the Samsung Omnia series phones. It also provides an easy way to upload existing videos on your phone to qik.com and share it to other networks.

Start Recording
The new touch UI contains most of the commonly used functions available from the viewfinder view and can be set with just a touch of a button.

Recording in progress view
Note the contextual touch menu on the side to quickly toggle options on connectivity, privacy and capture of audio.

Sharing view
Share now enables you to share using SMS, Email and to your favorite Social Networks with just a touch of a button. You can even toggle the auto upload capabilities to these networks right from the phone by pressing the desired button for greater than 3 secs.
