RIP SuperTank My Blue CrayFish

It’s a sad day today as it’s an end to an era as my big blue crayfish SuperTank died today. I got him 1 year ago on August 6th, 2008. He was a lighter color of blue when I got him and over the past year he has gotten darker and darker. He was also the most active crayfish out of all the ones that I had and was always climbing my plants to entertain himself.

Don’t Cook Your Fish in a Heat Wave

The temperatures in the Lower Mainland have been in the mid 30’s for the past 2 weeks and it’s causing the water in fish tanks to heat up. So today I decided to change the water in both my tanks and pour in some cold water to even out the temperatures to 78-80 degrees. I know the temperature will still climb up over time, but at least there will be more oxygen in the water for the fish now. Some of my fish are getting bigger every month as are my turtles in my 125 Gallon tank. My crayfish SuperTank is still kicking well and cruising around my 29 Gallon tank regularly, he hasn’t molted for a while but I think he should in the next few months. My baby angel fish is now the size of a loonie and growing nicely.

New Electronics Blog Discovered

I was surfing around today and accidentally discovered this new Electronics blog that’s new on the block so I thought I would help the person running it out and link to him right away as he already has some great information and images posted. The Blog is called Volts and Bytes and I like it already with the schematics and images that are visible. Minor Updates

Not much new to report on the hobby side. My baby angel fish is getting bigger as are the two convicts in the 29 gallon tank. I did a water change in the 29 gallon tank yesterday so that should be good for a while. Now I just need to get some time to do the turtle filters and i’ll be good for a while.

I also sold my Team Losi Mini LST RC truck as I don’t really play with it as much anymore and might as well free up some cash that I can use for more important things right now.

Fish Tank Downsizing Complete

Well the 45 gallon tank is officially down and out, I cleaned the tank and all accessories including the filter on the weekend and it’s now ready for Craigslist. The Angel fish from the 45 gallon tank was put into the 29 gallon, her lips aren’t getting any better so will see how she does in the next few days and weeks as far as eating is concerned. All the remaining fish that were in the 45 gallon got also transferred into the 29 gallon tank.

I was told by my brother that the tetra’s that I gave him are already use to his feeding times and techniques and he is quit happy with them.

Angel Fish Large Lips is Called Lip Fibroma

After 2 days of medication it didn’t seem like the Fungus Cure was doing anything for my angel fish so I went on google and did some more research. I found out that it’s actually a virus that causes this problem which is called Lip Fibroma. The only way to get rid of Lip Fibroma is to actually cut off the growth from the angels lips but I will not do this as I wouldn’t wanna hurt it more. As long as the fish is still eating it is ok. This is more susceptical to happen to female angel fish that are under lots of stress, but it’s not contagious. There is no cure right now so I will leave her as is.
