SSL (secure socket layer) encrypts the communication between website and the visitor’s browser. When a website visitor enters details such as name, email address, username, password, or credit card number, SSL prevents them from being read by nefarious third parties who may intercept them.

You can identify a website using https in two ways:
— the address will begin with https, not http.

Press the ALT, SPACE, and C keys together.

The Chrome window will close.

Open it back up. (You can press CTRL, SHIFT and T together to make that happen if you like.)

Voila! No more Chrome on top.

A friend recently emailed me. He’d read a book that instructed him to include the Google Analytics tracking code into his “header.php” file. That’s the right way for some themes.
