The district called Baran is some 300 odd kilometres from Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan in India. The journey: a flight from Mumbai to Jaipur followed by a road trip to Baran.

I landed in Jaipur at about 5:00 PM. The travel company received me at the airport. Amit had been assigned the task of driving me to Baran that evening and back to Jaipur the following afternoon. We reached the hotel in Baran a little after mid-night at hit the road again at 6:00 AM the following morning. I had about five hours to photograph a school and the villages nearby before starting the long drive back to Jaipur.

The village is splendid. I enjoyed myself.

Making photos of these beautiful hotels was a fantastic experience. All of these photos were shot in ambient light. We were seeking to capture the rich tropical feeling that Goa has to offer during the winter months. I have to admit that I like all of the photos that you see in the slideshow below, but I’d like to tell you a little more about this one:

It is the penthouse of Casa Baga. A beautiful room that looks straight at the ocean from the second floor of the hotel. One can get a sense the plethora of coconut trees the ocean in the background. I enjoyed spending my afternoons in the penthouse downloading all of the photos that I’d made during the mornings.

I’d spend the mornings photographing birds at Assagao, Baga, Britona, Benaulim, Chapora etc. Bird watching is a hobby that I’d developed since the November of 2009. I post the photos of the birds that I photograph on my wildlife blogs: SEE.SEE.BIRD.BIRD.

I used a Canon 50D camera and Canon 16-35 f/2.8 lens to photograph all of these hotels.
