They have already found the mysterious Buxton Mermaid’s hair is human.

The University of Lincoln team is now testing the DNA of the mermaid’s tail to see what fish it came from.

Anita Hollinshead, a conservation and restoration masters student, came across the mermaid while working at the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery.

“We think that it came from the mid-19th Century,” she said.

“We are still doings tests to find that out.

“She may have come from Japan or the Far East. A lot of these kind of mermaids came from that area and were made by fishermen and they sold them to supplement their income as sort of fake mermaids.

“Sometimes people bought them thinking they were the real thing.

“They were very popular side-show attractions, particularly in London in the mid-19th Century.”

Monkey ruled out
X-ray examinations have shown the mermaid’s upper body is built upon a wooden and wire structure.

“The teeth are carved bone and we think the eyes are actually some sort of mollusc shell,” said Ms Hollinshead.

“We didn’t know if there were any bits of monkey in the top half, as there are in some of these, but that’s proven not to be the case.”

The team hopes further tests will determine what the mermaid’s skin is made from.

Their research suggests that until 1982 the Buxton Mermaid was held with a merman at the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, in London.

The merman is now held at the Horniman Museum, also in London. The mermaid and merman will be reunited at the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery for an exhibition from 19 March to 13 May. (For photo´s, BBC)

The sphere fell on Wednesday in a village of Riacho dos Poços in Brazilian Maranhão state. No casualties were reported apart from an unfortunate cashew tree that was severed by the object as it plunged to the ground, according to MR Notícias, a Mata Roma news site.

Valdir José Mendes, 46, told police the sphere landed several meters from his house leaving a one-meter-deep hole in the yard.

“I heard the noise and I went out to see what caused it. I thought it was a plane that had fallen, or an earthquake,” he said.

The noise was such that Mendes was too scared to go outside. However, curiosity got the better of him and he headed outside to find the cashew tree’s trunk snapped in half by a mysterious metal sphere lying in a hole nearby.

Some 20 villagers joined Mendes to help him extract the object from the ground and examine it. Mendes says the sphere is hollow and if shaken some sort of liquid can be felt swishing inside. Locals quickly spread the news, as they reached the town of Mata Roma over 2,000 people flocked to see the “UFO”.

“It was a huge uproar here. Some feared it was the beginning of the 2012 end of the world, others said it was ‘alien’, but I think it is a piece of satellite,” said Max Garreto Mauro, 25, a resident of Mata Roma.

Peter Costa, the meteorologist at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), agrees with Garetto, saying the object would probably be part of a satellite. “I’m sure this is not a weather balloon or part of it,” he said as quoted by O Imparcia.

Military police confiscated the sphere and took it to the barracks in the nearby Mata Roma. They have not specified what the UFO’s possible future will be. In a statement the Air Force Command said it “does not have specialized structures to perform scientific research on this type of aerial phenomena, which prevents the institution to submit an opinion on these events.”

Mind your head!
In December 2011, a similar incident happened in Namibia, where a metal “Teletubby head” weighing 5.9 kilograms and measuring 35 centimeters in diameter hit the ground in the village of Omanatunga. Some Russian specialists believe the “head” was part of the third stage of the Soyuz-U rocket, launched on October 30.

Space debris stories made the headlines throughout 2011. In January, media chased the infamous Russian Mars probe Phobos-Grunt across five oceans to keep up with Russia’s space agency, constantly changing the possible impact location.

Earlier in October, the German Roentgen satellite split into 30 chunks, one of which weighed 400 kilograms, but those globs eventually made their way in to the Indian Ocean.

In September 2011, the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite made headlines when it threatened to fall right onto Britain but eventually collapsed into a remote part of the Pacific Ocean.

Government and local officials rushed to the scene at the Chevrolet crossing of Furn al-Shubbak Wednesday morning in an attempt to locate the sewage canal that was dumping the red-colored water but they were unable to locate the source. Accusations were traded among officials from the municipalities of Hadath, Hazmieh, Sin al-Fil, Furn al-Shubbak and Shiyah.

Eyewitnesses working in the area told The Daily Star this was not the first time the river had turned a different color. Several business owners around the Chevrolet crossing said that colored water pours into the river roughly every two months but no one pays attention to it.It was the quantity and brightness of the red liquid that grabbed the attention of many passersby and commuters on different bridges in the city Wednesday.

Environment Minister Nazem Khoury said the source of the water was likely from Hazmieh or Baabda.

“I call on the municipalities of Hazmieh and Baabda to cooperate swiftly to find the source of the pollution and its type,” Khoury said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, Khoury sent an environmental team to the area to examine the water. The team, headed by ministry official Bassam Sabbagh, took a sample of the water to determine its composition and whether it contained dangerous pollutants.

The samples will be examined Thursday because state laboratories were already closed by the time the sample was taken. “The sample we took will be examined tomorrow [Thursday] morning … and we will know whether it is blood being mixed with water or if it is some sort of a color dumped in it,” said Sabbagh.

A similar incident took place in the Chinese Jian River last December after a factory illegally dumped red dye into the river, which is located in the northern Chinese province of Henan.

Some cities use non-toxic dyes to color rivers on special occasions. In Chicago, the river is dyed green every year in the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

According to Sabbagh, test results will help the ministry determine whether the substance is a chemical pollutant or blood from a nearby slaughterhouse.

“First we thought it was blood, but it seems like it is a kind of coloring dumped by a factory,” said Sabbagh, who also said that the test to determine the type of the chemical would take a week.

Sabbagh said the municipality and other ministries should help the Environment Ministry in its investigation. “We need the help of the local officials to have a clear idea of the sewage network in the region,” he said.

According to Sabbagh, who heads the ministry’s Environmental Pollution Control Office, maps of the sewage network would help officials locate the source of the red-colored water.

“After finding the source, it would be a matter of hours to get to the factory and the area where the [colored] water is originating,” said Sabbagh adding that swift action would be taken against those responsible for it.

Saad Elias, an adviser to the environment minister, did not rule out the possibility that a slaughterhouse could be behind the red color.

“After going through several phases of butchering at the slaughterhouses, they store huge amounts of blood and animal parts in containers … they might have dumped them into a sewage canal,” said Elias.

“The ministry will definitely investigate this matter because our role is to prevent pollution,” he added.

Meanwhile, local officials in the area suggested that a paint factory could be responsible for the incident. “There are several paint factories in Hadath,” said an official from the Shiyah municipality.

The 34th President of the United States met the extra terrestrials at a remote air base in New Mexico in 1954, according to lecturer and author Timothy Good.

The two parties finally met up on three separate occasions at the Holloman Air Force base and there were ‘many witnesses’.

Conspiracy theorists have circulated increased rumours in recent months that the meeting between the Commander-in-Chief and people from another planet took place.

But the claims from Mr Good, a former U.S. Congress and Pentagon consultant, are the first to be made publicly by a prominent academic.

Speaking on Frank Skinner’s BBC2 current affairs show Opinionated, he said that governments around the world have been in regular contact with aliens for many decades.

‘Aliens have made both formal and informal contact with thousands of people throughout the world from all walks of life,’ he added.

Asked why the aliens don’t go to somebody ‘important’ like Barack Obama, he said: ‘Well, certainly I can tell you that in 1954, President Eisenhower had three encounters, set up meetings with aliens, which took place at certain Air Force bases including Holloman Air Force base in New Mexico.’

He added that there were ‘many witnesses’.

Eisenhower, who was president from 1953 to 1961, is known to have had a strong belief in life on other planets.

The former five-star general in the United States Army who commanded the Allied Forces in Europe during the Second World War, was also keen on pushing the U.S. space programme.

His meeting with the cosmic life forms is said to have taken place while officials were told that he was on vacation in Palm Springs, California, in February 1954.

The initial meeting is supposed to have taken place with aliens who were ‘Nordic’ in appearance, but the agreement was eventually ‘signed’ with a race called ‘Alien Greys’.

Mr Good added: ‘We know that up to 90 per cent of all UFO reports can be explained in conventional terms. However, I would say millions of people worldwide have actually seen the real thing.’

According to classified documents released by the Ministry of Defence in 2010, Winston Churchill may have ordered a UFO sighting to be kept secret.

The UFO was seen over the East Coast of England by an RAF reconnaissance plane returning from a mission in France or Germany towards the end of the war. Churchill is said to have discussed how to deal with UFO sightings with Eisenhower.

When did these events occur? In 1450 AD, the catastrophic comet Mahuika descended upon the coast of New Zealand. Reputed to be twenty-six times as bright as the Sun, it discharged electrically and shattered Admiral Zhou Man’s Chinese fleet of some sixty ships. The fleet supported a thriving Chinese colony of Han, Tang and Song, mining gold, jade and antimony in New Zealand. The comet’s screaming noise blew out the sailors’ eardrums; they received horrific burns.

Earthquakes and gigantic waves that could have been more than 200 metres high tossed the ships upside down like matchsticks, whilst the intense heat caused the masts and rigging to catch fire. Zhou Man’s wrecked hulks hurtled across the seas to New Zealand and southeast Australia fanned by 600 kilometre per hour winds. Junks were flung ashore at Bairnsdale, Warrnambool, King Island, Kangaroo Island and even the tip of West Australia. Sound incredible?

These facts are recorded in the meticulous fifteenth century records of Chinese ambassador Zheng He. Historian Gavin Menzies claims that over nine hundred ships failed to return to China from Pacific expeditions in that tragic year.

Professor Ted Bryant recounts how matching Maori South Island mythology speaks of the Fires of Tamatea. They describe “the falling of the skies, raging winds and massive and mysterious fires and storms from space.” The catastrophe was centred on Tananui (Maori for “the big explosion”) where the airburst flattened trees within a radius of 80 kilometres. Vast forests caught fire. The Chinese colonists were burned alive. Flocks of the flightless Moa bird were incinerated and became extinct. Manu Whakatan translates as “the bird felled by a strange fire.” Local names describe the fireball: names such as, “Waitepeka,” “Kaka Point” and “Oweka” (Ka is Maori for “fire”).

A deluge followed the fire. The Invercargill plains, including the Chinese mine shafts, were flooded. Trees were toppled by the mega-tsunami. Maori place names inland reflect this: “Tainui,” “Tairoa,” “Paretai” (Tai being Maori for “waves”). Zheng He’s records and the Maori mythology agree.

Aboriginal myths from Port Phillip Bay, Newcastle, and Wilcannia on the southeast coast of Australia also describe falling debris, cataclysmic floods, earthquakes and heavenly auroral fires. Physical evidence of wrecked junks was discovered by marine engineer Cedric Bell, who investigated the hypothesis of a fifteenth century tsunami. Bell surveyed the coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Magnetic instruments showed 44 large junks buried in the sand or amongst inland chevrons. One treasure ship was impaled in a cliff at Moorak. Two burning junks were hurled into the cliff face at Wakanui Beach, their wreckage buried deep beneath a tsunami formation enclosing a stone-built Chinese canal.

Turning to Port Phillip Bay, there is abundant evidence for a destructive mega-tsunami. Layers of burnt cliff top and shells stretch endlessly around Port Phillip Bay and the Victorian coastline. Burnt trees protrude along the shorelines. Chevrons (20-30 metre high sand incursions) invade the coastline along Wilson’s Promontory, Portsea, Warrnambool and beyond. The sand chevrons are solid evidence for tsunamis washing inland for many kilometres. Carbon dating of the burnt shell remains appears to validate the fifteenth century catastrophe.

Conventional geology insists on a slow creation of Port Phillip Bay in a post ice age (Pleistocene) event occurring some ten thousand years ago. However, recent research from the University of Melbourne confirms this formation occurred within the last thousand years. This was a catastrophic event.

400-year-old witchcraft trial resumes in Germany

The fact that Henot’s name has a chance of exoneration is due largely to the efforts of Hartmut Hegeler, an evangelical pastor and religious education teacher, who has championed the woman’s cause in Cologne.

“We were taking about the witch trials in class and my students asked me if whether the judgment against Henot had ever been cancelled, and the answer was ‘no’,” said Mr Hegeler.

“Katharina had her own reputation in high esteem; she would want to have it cleared.”

Between 1500 and 1782 at least 25,000 Germans, mostly women but also some men and children, were executed for witchcraft. Many were made scapegoats for natural disasters or faced accusations because of personal vendettas or just because they failed to fit in with the people around them.

In one of the most infamous cases, a three-month burst of bloodletting in the small town of Oberkirchen in 1630 claimed the lives of 58, including those of two children, as accusations of witchcraft spread like wildfire.

Now across Germany towns and villages are beginning to rehabilitate the names of the executed in an attempt to bring a belated form of justice.

If some of our government sources are right — and this includes men who are said to have briefed the President of the United States — it’s too late.

They are already here — and the government is keeping the truth under the dark shadow of secrecy.

The big question is whether or not this revelation is about a ‘nuts and bolts’ alien visitation, or is it just nuts?

If we are willing to entertain the first possibility, we are still faced with the second: what is behind the viral explosion of reported nocturnal alien abductions?

Is there a nightmare on disclosure street?

We were given a definitive answer to the first question. The government insider’s CORE STORY of alien contact is about real-life, material, physical, in space and time contact with extraterrestrial beings.

In other words, the CORE STORY is about contact with the extraterrestrial equivalent of our astronauts.

As for the nebulous, dream-like visitations reported as close encounters of the alien kind, the answer was less definitive: just shy of a “neither confirm not deny.”

In addition to the problem of the crushing silence — the failure to detect communication signals coming from deep space — there is the problem of visitors arriving here from other times.

Before he warned us of an extraterrestrial menace, Stephen Hawking asked the question, “where are the time travelers?”

Hawking assumes time travel would be mediated by human scale worm holes through space and time. Hawking notes that modern physics predicts a frothy foam of quantum wormholes at the smallest scales of reality. Perhaps, he suggests (as have many others), it might be possible to inflate one of these tiny wormholes to allow a human being to take a walk through space and time.

The picture painted by Hawking would allow a visitor from the future to travel through a tunnel into our world, resulting in the breakdown of cause and effect. Hawking has suggested any time machine would be self-destructive. According to Hawking, energy loops in the machine would run out of control and rip the tunnel out of existence before it could be used.

In the ultimate act of observer bias, Hawking concludes that since he has not encountered any time travelers, his argument against time machines must be correct.

Could Hawking be wrong?

The nightmare on disclosure street is the fear of extraterrestrial technology so advanced, it can directly interface with human consciousness.

And we might add that that no one understands what human consciousness is, in the first place (the typical explanation ends with something like, “and then a miracle happens!”).

In an interview conducted by Tim Ventura of American Antigravity, called “Through the Looking Glass,” the idea of sending information through time via an extra ‘bulk’ dimension surrounding our universe is discussed by theorists Heinrich Päs, Thomas Weiler, and Sandip Pakvasa. Although the idea rests on a number of assumptions, it suggests the idea of a nightmare scenario in the context of Stephen Hawking’s warning of the dangers of extraterrestrial contact.

In the interview, Weiler comments, “Perhaps in the distant future, we will evolve so that our consciousness resides in a ball of sterile neutrinos [particles of matter in the higher dimensional space]. Then we can tele-transport ourselves.”

In other words, Weiler is suggesting that intelligence — here or, perhaps, from ‘out there’ — might be able to freely move through space and time via an extra dimension.

The idea smacks of science fiction, but is an example of the kind of out-of-the-box thinking required to overcome limitations inherent in present day physics.

The idea also plays a role in the strange case of Laura Magdalene Eisenhower, the great-granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who claims she was the victim of an attempted recruitment into a mysterious black operation presumably involving extraterrestrial technologies.

Taken in the context of reports of mind-matter interactions using electromagnetic fields targeted against the human brain, is it reasonable to postulate a real-life nightmare scenario on disclosure street?

Imagine this scenario: the US government knows there are extraterrestrials visiting the Earth and worse, it now appears they have begun to interact with the civilian population by manipulating their dreams.

The government would be faced with an emerging crisis. How would they respond to the viral explosion of information spreading about the contacts over the Internet? Would they engage in acts of cyber counterintelligence in response to the revelations?

How would the nocturnal intruders be interpreted by the more conservative and religious factions inside of the Department of Defense?

What if there was a disturbing message associated with the contact reports? Would they connect any of this to the CORE STORY of real-world contact?

Is it actually possible that Stephen Hawking’s nightmare scenario has actually already begun?

Daryl Hannah wowed 1984 audiences as a mermaid with long, crimped tresses down to her waist in the film Splash.

He said the only way to solve the problem was to brew traditional beer and carry out rites to appease the spirits.

“All the officers I have sent have vowed not to go back there,” Zimbabwe’s state-approved Herald newspaper quoted him as saying.

The senior politician allegedly said mermaids were also present in other reservoirs around the country.

The building of the reservoirs is long overdue, but is considered essential if Zimbabwe is to provide adequate water for its population and boost agricultural production.

The animal – thought to have mostly died out roughly 4,000 years ago – was apparently filmed wading through a river in the freezing wilds of Siberia.

The jaw-dropping footage was caught by a government-employed engineer last summer in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia, it is claimed.

Mammoth remains are regularly dug up from the permafrost in frozen Russia.

The official was reportedly in the area surveying for a planned road.

Paranormal writer Michael Cohen said: “Rumours of a handful of mammoths still kicking around in the vast wilderness of Siberia have been circulating for decades and occasionally sightings by locals have occurred.

“Siberia is an enormous territory and much of it remains completely unexplored and untouched by humans. ”

Woolly mammoths roamed the Earth 10,000 years ago during the last Ice Age.

A small pocket remained on and around Wrangel Island, off the coast of Siberia, and these did not die out until 3,500 years ago.

Mr Cohen, 41, added: “It is highly possible that a number of species, extinct elsewhere, survive in the area.

“If surviving woolly mammoths were found in Siberia, it could run against Russia’s plans to further develop and exploit the area’s considerable resources.

“It would be potentially one of the greatest discoveries ever.”

But viewers are divided on the nature of the animal seen in the video. Some have dismissed it as a hoax while others reckon it is an elephant lost in the Siberian wilderness. The third theory is the sighting shows a bear eating a huge fish. What do you think?
