Three years ago, China banned director Lou Ye from making any more movies for five years, after he showed Summer Palace — about the government's crackdown on 1989's Tiananmen Square massacre — at the Cannes Film Festival. But the prohibition didn't stop Ye from shooting new projects. Last year, covertly taping with digital cameras, he shot Spring Fever — a bisexual love affair complete with graphic gay sex scenes. Not only did Ye take it to Cannes in May (where it won Best Screenplay), but now he's also taken it back to China.

Rick Warren, the anti-gay (and self-professed not-anti-gay) pastor who turned Barack Obama's presidential inauguration into a gay sideshow, is not a stupid man. A jovial bigot, sure. But not stupid. He understands that subscription to Judeo-Christian faith in the West is on the decline, and that's a huge impediment to winning his (homophobic) culture war. At least here in America. But the rest of the world? It's fertile ground to the Saddleback Church leader and other religious conservatives. And they're making the African continent their own Ground Zero to persecute, and sometimes eliminate, queers.

That's great news, particularly because the ad, while thoughtful, is an absolute waste when it comes to social politics. From the terrifying world of school bullying, and common wisdom that school administrators do nothing to stop it comes this story from Houston high school freshman Jayron Martin, who was beaten with a metal pipe after school by a classmate while eight others watched — and it only stopped when a man who saw the attack from his home whipped out a shotgun. All because the other kids accused Jayron of being gay. But perhaps the worst part, beyond the cuts and bruises and cracks? That the attack might have been prevented: Jayron's assault went down after he told two of his principals and bus driver about the planned attack before it happened; a classmate tipped him off.

As expected, Houston mayoral candidate Annise Parker is on the receiving end of an attack campaign. But this one isn't from the Houston Area Pastor Council, which is planning a religious-based assault. Through its conversion therapy programs, Exodus International claims it can change homosexuals to heterosexuals if they want it bad enough. And, if not, they can at least train you to become celibate, and reconcile your same-sex attractions with your religious beliefs. So you would think that Exodus, an international organization, would look to a country like Uganda as a plump feeding ground for potential converts. And yet the group is criticizing a move there — supported by President Yoweri Museveni and some lawmakers — to make gay sex a crime punishable by death.

Utah State Sen. Chris Buttars was the sponsor behind his state's constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. But now he's behind extending Salt Lake City's LGBT anti-discrimination to the entire state. Isn't this the same guy who said gays are "the greatest threat to America"? Yes, he is. And yet now he says, "I don't mind gays, but I don't want 'em stuffing it down my throat all the time, and certainly [in] my kids' face." How, exactly, do folks who are vehemently anti-gay reconcile a position on protecting gays?

Initially, we thought Twilight's ginormous Kellan Lutz was purposefully catering to his gay fanbase. After all, he pulled the above paparazzi stunt, holding hands with co-star Peter Facinelli (as a gag on all the coverage co-stars and romancers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart receive).
