It’s Teacher Awareness Week, which turns out to be a awfully ironic time to release Blue Film, the provocative feature debut from emerging filmmaker Elliot Tuttle.

That’s because Blue Film is about a camboy named Alex, a.k.a. “Aaron Eagle” (Boots breakout Kieron Moore), who accepts an offer for $50k to spend the night with an anonymous client—a client who turns out to be Hank Grant (Tony winner Reed Birney), an older man who’s had a crush on Aaron ever since he was his middle-school teacher.

True to its title, this is not a film everyone’s going to feel comfortable sitting with, which Tuttle and his stars are well aware of. After all, it’s about the intersections of sex, fetish, desire, perversion, and specifically pedophilia—the compulsions of those affected by it and what it take for someone like Hank to keep it in check. As the story goes, it was rejected by a number of major films festivals out of fear of its controversy-stoking nature.

Yet, against the odds, this audacious, honest, and deeply human drama is getting a proper theatrical rollout beginning May 8 courtesy of specialty distributor Obscured Releasing. And with that, Blue Film joins a storied pantheon of features that not only challenge our notion of societal taboos, but of what cinema can be.

Ahead of its release, Queerty spoke to Tuttle and his stars Moore & Birney about why they felt this project was a risk worth taking, and how even through their most intimate, difficult moment, they knew they had one another’s backs—which in one particular scene actually meant shaving one of their backs. Plus, the trio shares which other daring films challenged their ideas of what art could get away with.

QUEERTY: I just saw the IFC Center is programming a series called “Transgressive Cinema” inspired by Blue Film, and it made me curious, for each of you: is there a movie you remember seeing that felt very provocative to you, that challenged your idea of what movies could do or get away with?

ELLIOT TUTTLE: I love this question! Sweet Movie, definitely, which IFC is programming—and also Salo, Or The 120 Days Of Sodom. I mean, if I had to pick a favorite film of all time, I would probably say Salo. And I think it’s the film that, when I watched it in high school with a friend, I remember I went to sleep that night and then had all of these nightmares that I was in a house where I was not in control of my own life—it was this very vivid nightmare. I woke up sweating, and I remember thinking, like, “that is so cool that a movie is so disgusting and so revolting and so upsetting that it kind of sunk into my bones.”

And, at least in some way, Pasolini made me feel what he was probably trying to make me feel: the revolting nature of fascism. It felt like when he was intellectually trying to convey kind of sat with me in a physical way; it created a physical reaction in me. And that is so moving to me—that a film could be used to be so moving to me.

Reed, is there a movie that, perhaps similarly, gave you night sweats?

REED BIRNEY: I’m not as adventuresome as Elliot is—I feel like I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. But when you ask the question, two movies popped into my mind: One was Oblomov, the Russian movie, and then also Babette’s Feast.

I think with Oblomov, it’s about a guy who literally can’t get out of bed—and then he does! And he falls in love, and there’s all this sort of “second life.” I was watching it, and then when movie ended, I’m not even sure why, but I burst into heaving sobs from it, just the cumulative unsuspecting nature of what the power of movies can do.

And then Babette’s Feast, I don’t think I’d ever seen an exploration of what it means to be an artist. She made that dinner for the sake of creating a dinner—it wasn’t about fame, it wasn’t about even if they liked it. It was about: “I need to express myself through food this way.” And it when I saw it at the time, it resonated, and it still resonates in me; what it means to be an artist.

KIERON MOORE: I wish I could give you a really artistic answer, but the one film that gives me night sweats, and even to this day I can’t believe I watched it: Did you ever see A Serbian Film?

TUTTLE: I was almost going to say that one!

MOORE: I almost don’t even want that put in print—I don’t want anyone to ever watch that movie. It’s a deeply, deeply horrific movie. And I remember watching it in high school via what I believe was an illegal link. And I did actually watch it again as an adult just to see if it was still horrific… and it definitely is.

But there is another, a short film by Ari Aster call Munchausen. It’s a silent movie, and it’s about a mum that is just deeply overprotective of her son and doesn’t want him to go to college, so she sickens him and she keeps him bedridden. I remember being so moved by everything that’s happening and what I’m seeing, what’s being expressed with no dialogue. It sort of reaches past what we can imagine, it transcends, and makes you think about how haunting humanity and love can be.

I love that we’ve inadvertently just given folks a feel-bad movie playlist. But I want to dive into Blue Film: Elliot, you’ve previously talked about some of the inspirations behind the ideas that inform this story, so then how did you go about finding & building out the actual narrative structure around it? I mean, this is a two-hander essentially all shot in one-location—did it always look that way to you?

TUTTLE: It definitely always looked that way to me. I wanted to make something very producible. I wanted to make something I know that I could make with little creative oversight, and I knew that that could happen if I was doing it resourcefully and inexpensively.

I feel like how I’ve ever written anything has kind of started with a feeling, or started with very personal ideas or personal feelings that have then been translated through plot. I really enjoyed this these two kind of archetypes, almost? They’re close to being archetypes, this idea of the camboy and Hank as almost like a—I don’t want to say “old fool,” because he’s certainly not a fool, but he’s an old and open-hearted kind of person. And with the camboy, there’s this archetype in p*rn of like the “findom”—the very verbally aggressive camboy is such a recognizable thing if you have spent any time on gay Pornhub. So they felt like two correct ways to channel all of these like more discursive, wordy ideas that I was journaling about.

If they start as archetypes, then you have these two fantastically talented actors help flesh them out into real people. Reed & Kieron, you’ve both discussed being drawn to the danger of the script, but then you get to set and it’s a whole other experience to have to act it out. How did working with one another help you find your footing in these characters, but also find comfort in going to these uncomfortable places?

MOORE: Well I’m a huge fan of gushing about Reed. You know, I was very much aware of Reed’s caliber, and secretly there was part of me that wanted to impress Reed and affirm my beliefs of “maybe I can be an actor!”

But I think it’s just an exchange. I do believe you’re only as good as the person in front of you, and you’re only as good as the person in front of you will permit you to be. I think everyone here wanted each other to be great, and we tried to permit that, and be open enough and vulnerable enough to give a hand at that as best as we could. I admired Reed from the beginning, and I fell in love with Reed immediately as a person; it was just such a beautiful exchange, really.

Also for me, my first day was the cum scene, you know? So I did that on my own, and then was like, “Okay, I’m in this now! Let’s go! Let’s straddle the horse and see what happens!” [Laughs.] But Reed held my hand the whole way through, and I can’t imagine getting to do something so vulnerable as my first feature with someone even as remarkable as Reed.

BIRNEY: It was kind of a magic situation in that, as you can see from talking to Kieron, he is so far away from Aaron Eagle—and Alex. He was able to transform into those guys instantaneously. So, it was like walking through a curtain on set and, suddenly, here we were in this world together. It felt full and complete—it almost didn’t feel like acting; it felt like living in this space with this guy. And I was sort of obsessed with Aaron, so I really couldn’t get enough of him while we were filming it.

And then we would yell cut, and we’d have a laugh! I mean, there were challenging days, too. I’m not going to lie—just the nature of low-budget filmmaking was there, even though we were taken incredibly good care of by Bijan Kazerooni and all the producer guys, they were amazing. But there were some days where I think both of us were a little bit like, “Okay, we have to do this.” And it wasn’t that we were scared—I think we felt a responsibility to do it perfectly because we cared that much about the script. So that was where the concern would have been for me.

MOORE: We just all wanted to be great, didn’t we? Just the best it could be. Everything came from an element of care. We knew that there was some difficulty that lies in the script that audiences are navigating now. But it was just this ability to share this space, and we all wanted each other to look back and be proud of the work that they did. Now we look back, and I think we all feel that way, but we also know that—like, I’m only so proud of my work because of how much of them, too is in it, you know?

BIRNEY: I don’t think I’ve ever—I mean, there are only two of us, so the odds are good—but I’ve ever done something where it never occurred to me, “Oh, is he going to do it like that? Really? That’s what he’s going to do?” Almost everything else I’ve ever been in, there’s a moment—as much as I love the other actors—where I’m like, “Oh, that’s not a good choice; that was a bad choice!”

MOORE: That is the greatest compliment Reed Birney could ever give! [Laughs.]

BIRNEY: I never for a second thought, “Hm, Kieron needs a little direction there.” [Laughs.]

Speaking of these more difficult moments to film, I think much has and be made of the sex scenes, but in my mind one of the most vulnerable moments has to be the shave. Elliot, can you tell me about the impetus behind that scene? And Kieron, I notice you shaking your head a bit—was it as difficult to film as I’d imagine?

MOORE: Wait ’til I release the BTS waxing footage! The full-body wax! I’m laughing because here’s this moment of shaving, which is deeply challenging—but all I can think about is the immense amount of pain of going through a full body wax… which was my idea.[Laughs.]

TUTTLE: The impetus of that was that the character of Hank is kind of physically stripping away the “Aaron” bravado. It marks a real turning point in the film, because then it becomes a different beast after that moment. But I remember that being a fun day on set, right? I don’t remember if I’m misremembering it, but it was fun!

BIRNEY: I thought it was really cruel for Hank to do that with disposable razor! That was really bad. [Laughs.]

TUTTLE: I know! Yeah, Reed shaved Kierpn, and then we sent Kierpn to go get professionally waxed right afterwards. Poor guy…

MOORE: All I can remember is how cold it was! I mean, you know, art reflects life, right? But the scene when I’m shivering on the bed, I am so cold that there’s a realness there that leads to everything. It’s like the vulnerability becomes really wearable once the hair goes! It’s very metaphoric in many ways.

Pete Hegseth reportedly paranoid about being fired by Tr*mp & his latest screw up probably isn’t helping

The week is young, and Pete Hegseth has already fallen on his face several times. Yesterday’s news about Hegseth spending taxpayer dollars on his man crush Kid Rock didn’t do the Secretary of Defense any favors, but that gaffe is child’s play compared to what CNN just exposed. Buckle up!

According to that outlet, Hegseth’s testimony to the House last week contained not one but two blatant falsehoods on the same theme. When Democratic rep. Jill Tokuda questioned Hegseth about how he would respond if Tr*mp ordered him to deploy troops to voting booths during the upcoming midterms, Hegseth waffled. He denied the hypothesis that Tr*mp would do anything against the law (sure Jan!) and then made the false claim that Joe Biden sent troops to voting locations in 2024.

“I will note that in 2024, troops were… that was Joe Biden by the way, Joe Biden… deployed to polling locations in 15 states,” Hegseth said Wednesday. He repeated this claim on Thursday.

Here’s the issue: when CNN fact-checked this claim, they received confirmation from 12 states that while some National Guard workers were ordered to work behind the scenes on cybersecurity concerns, none of them were sent to polling stations.

“We have never gone to a polling station as part of an election,” a National Guard spokesperson in Iowa told CNN, along with Arizona officials who noted that the officers who worked behind the scenes were deployed “in a basement,” far from the eyes of actual voters.

The other states in question—Delaware, Illinois, New Mexico, North Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, Hawaii, Washington state, Pennsylvania, and Oregon—all responded with similar information disproving Hegseth’s claim.

More pertinently, none of these workers were ordered by Biden. They were ordered by state officials while Biden was in office, but they were not present in polling stations as an intimidation tactic, as Hegseth seems to imply.

At this point, a Tr*mp official getting caught in a lie under oath is pretty much as groundbreaking as florals for spring. It is, however, still a pretty serious crime, even if Tr*mp’s cabinet is temporarily protected from indictment.

The keyword, of course, is temporarily. As Tr*mp continues to flounder amid ever-sinking approval ratings, it’s becoming less obvious which MAGA crony is next on the chopping block. Kash Patel has been making some serious blunders on main, and that SNL skit certainly didn’t help matters—but somehow he’s still standing. Others are claiming that Tr*mp is desperate to get rid of MAHA warrior RFK Jr. next, but fears losing the MAHA base. Hegseth’s flashy antics with Kid Rock, combined with his lie under oath, could be the thing to move him to the front of the firing squad.

We won’t be holding our breath. One thing Tr*mp is good about is surrounding himself with people whose consistent, epic screw ups work to make him look better, even though he’s the one who hired them.

But if a recent Guardian report is anything to go on, Hegseth seems to know his number could soon be up. According to that piece, insider says Hegseth “expresses fear and paranoia about Tr*mp firing him from a job for which critics say his background…is inadequate qualification.”

At this point, it’s looking less like paranoia and more like common sense.

Unsimulated: 10 films with real gay sex scenes worth watching—for more than just the sex

Just because it features real sex, that doesn’t mean it’s p*rn.

Over the years, a number of queer narrative feature films have pushed the boundaries of cinema—and indeed the censorship boards—with explicit man-on-man action that’s 100-percent real. All to serve the story, of course!

To mark the upcoming 20th anniversary of John Cameron Mitchell’s famously uninhibited Shortbus (May 20), here’s a look at 10 theatrically released films—some mainstream award winners, others underground favorites —which left absolutely nothing to the imagination and are actually worth a watch. You know, for more than just the sex.

Shortbus

Hedwig And The Angry Inch director John Cameron Mitchell deliberately aimed to “weed out the squeamish” by opening his countercultural dramedy with actor Paul Dawson not only performing auto-fellatio, but also ejaculating into his own mouth. Yeah, that ought to have done it. Shortbus, named after the creative-cum-sexual gathering inspired by the New York underground circa Y2K, also features very real oral during a very real threesome. But while the film initially attracted attention for its explicit sex scenes (both hetero and homo), it also revealed itself to be a compelling character study of bohemian life that tackled themes of suicide, liberation, and human connection in provocative but affecting ways.

Stranger By The Lake

Director Alain Guiraudie took psychosexual drama to new rock-hard heights in this sensual but startling tale set entirely within a lakeside cruising ground. Stranger By The Lake stars Pierre Deladonchamps as a nude thrill-seeker who can’t hide his attraction to Christophe Paou’s mysterious mustachioed man, even when he sees him turning to murder by drowning. Boy sure has issues. Surely one of the most sexually explicit films to win a major award at the Cannes Film Festival, the incredibly French cult hit features real sex scenes both oral and anal, not to mention more general nudity than a Scandinavian sauna. If you find yourself questioning why the danger of it all makes it hotter, well, that’s the point.

Paris 05:59: Théo & Hugo

It takes nearly 20 minutes for the first word to be uttered in Paris 05:59: Théo & Hugo, a surprisingly sweet queer take on Before Sunrise, albeit one that begins with a no-holds barred orgy in an underground sex dungeon. Indeed, there’s no question of will they/won’t they with Geoffrey Couët and François Nambot’s leading men. Before they’ve even exchanged names, they’ve exchanged bodily fluids while surrounded by neon lights, pulsing techno, and at least two dozen other Parisian exhibitionists getting their kicks. But, designed to represent their instant infatuation, the pair are filmed moving on from blowjobs to f*cking as if there’s no one else in the room.

O Fantasma

Ricardo Meneses was nominated for Portugal’s answer to the Golden Globes for a truly fearless performance in which his depraved character scavenges for used underwear, practises autoerotic asphyxiation, and roams the streets in a full latex suit like a comic book villain. João Pedro Rodrigues’ largely plotless tale of a twenty-something garbage worker who indulges in his deepest, darkest (emphasis on the darkest) fantasies certainly doesn’t pull its punches. But its only unsimulated sex act is thankfully a consensual if slightly awkward one, a public bathroom blow job which the antihero receiver struggles to stay hard for.

Rotting In The Sun

“I’m scared a little bit that a lot of people will center on the cocks and talking about cocks when it’s just a trait of one of the characters,” Rotting In The Sun director/star Sebastián Silva admitted about his unhinged satire on the self-obsession of social media and hedonism of hook-up culture. Of course, inevitably the focus mainly centered on the cocks. And there are plenty of them, particularly during the early beachside scene when after watching Silva’s depressed film director nearly drown, Jordan Firstman’s vapid influencer’s first course of action is to join an orgy.

The Visitor

You could fill this entire list with the works of Bruce LaBruce, one of the forefathers of the transgressive ‘80s subculture known as queercore. But his most recent film may well be his wildest. A loose adaptation of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Teorema, The Visitor stars burlesque performer Bishop Black as a refugee who, after washing up on London’s River Thames in a suitcase, ingratiates himself into an upper-class household. And then proceeds to have spiritually transformative sex with every single member. Rimming, f*cking, woodland threesomes—along with several kinkier acts—it’s all shown in lube-soaked close-up here alongside vivid flashing slogans such as “Invade My Anus.” Definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Taxi Zum Klo

Even by today’s standards, 1981 German comedy Taxi Zum Klo is remarkably explicit. In one scene, its cruising obsessed leading man (director Frank Ripploh) kisses his latest hook-up having just given him a golden shower. And during the film’s most erotically charged encounter, he ejaculates, rather than urinates, into his partner‘s mouth. There’s also a fully erect glory hole sequence, some bare bum whipping, and even a rectal exam filmed without compromise. The elementary school teacher by day, nymphomaniac by night has such an insatiable appetite that even being hospitalized for hepatitis doesn’t stop him from hitting his nearest cottaging hot spot.

Pink Flamingos

John Waters immediately positioned himself as the Pope of Trash with Pink Flamingos, a delirious, depraved debut in which drag queen Divine’s twisted criminal and an equally degenerate couple battle-to-the-death for the title of “filthiest person alive.” Cannibalism, chicken torture, and a contortion act which involves flexing a prolapsed anus. It’s all here in a midnight movie classic best-known for its dogsh*t eating finale. The real-life BJ scene would seem practically quaint, therefore, if it wasn’t for the fact that the giver and receiver are meant to be parent and son!

Jesús

Chilean drama Jesús sees its titular central character (Nicolás Durán) and his partner-in-crime Hector (Alejandro Goic) spend several minutes masturbating each other in full view before, a little more discreetly, going even further. However, the events leading up to this passionate encounter make this a distinctly un-arousing watch. For both parties are part of a Santiago gang who’ve just drunkenly—and completely senselessly—beaten a homeless gay teen into a coma. And things only get more complicated when the latter turns on the former in a thought-provoking coming-of-age which deals with morality as unflinchingly as it does nudity.

I Want Your Love

Director Travis Mathews muscled in on the mumblecore movement with the low-key but highly sensual tale about a performance artist forced by the cost of living to move away from his beloved San Francisco. Partly funded by adult film exponents Naked Sword, I Want Your Love inevitably features plenty of hard dicks, particularly during the lead’s farewell party where pretty much every hipster attendee ends up getting undressed. But unlike the glossy, oft-mechanical sex favored by its studio, the bedroom action here feels unscripted, naturalistic, and ultimately more authentic. That didn’t stop the film from falling foul of the prudish Australian Classification Board, though, who, much to the disdain of future Mathews collaborator James Franco, banned it from the country’s festival circuit.

Fashion’s biggest night returned on the first Monday in May, as the 2026 Met Gala once again transformed the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s steps into a spectacle of couture, celebrity, and spirited conversation.

This year’s theme, “Costume Art,” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art,” invited A-list attendees to treat the human body as a canvas as their sartorial interpretations landed with varying degress of success.

As always, Vogue maven Anna Wintour presided over the evening alongside a lineup of co-chairs that included Beyoncé and Nicole Kidman, with Sam Smith, and trans supermodel Alex Consani part of the host committee, among others.

While the gala doubles as a major fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute, this year’s event featured an unusually politically charged undercurrent with the inclusion of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez Bezos as honorary co-chairs.

Among the critiques are long-standing reports of poor working conditions at Amazon facilities, slashing staff & forcing a right-wing editorial shift at the Washington Post, Bezos’ ties to the current administration, which include contributions to his inauguration fund, and alleged contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Prior to the gala, protests erupted around NYC including a “Ball Without Billionaires” rally that featured Abbott Elementary favorite Lisa Ann Walter speaking to the crowd.

Other celebs that have voiced opposition to this year’s event include Taraji P. Henson, Cynthia Nixon, and NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. While stars such as Meryl Streep, Zendaya, and supermodel Bella Hadid have indicated they would not be attending without specifically citing Mr. and Mrs. Bezos as a reason.

As mentioned, the Met Gala is the Costume Institute’s main fundraising event. The nonprofit Costume Institute preserves, studies, and exhibits over 33,000 fashion objects spanning seven centuries to showcase how fashion shapes culture. At a time when public funding is being slashed or eliminated (thanks in part to the current administration), private fundraising is more crucial than ever.

A table at the 2026 Met Gala can cost upwards of $350,000, which are usually purchased by design houses and companies, who then invite celebrities to sit as their guests.

Despite the backlash, this year’s shindig was jam-packed with Met Gala OGs such as Rihanna and Madonna, as well as newbies like Heated Rivalry hunks Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams.

Tr*mp biographer and former Epstein pal Michael Wolff has some serious atoning to do, but he might be on his way toward redemption after a recent jaw-dropping interview with The Daily Beast.

Speaking to Inside Tr*mp’s Head podcast host Joanna Coles, Wolff reiterated some shocking details he told the Meidas Touch network last fall, with a new gross twist.

“Tr*mp and Epstein together had this contest,” Wolff explains, “about who could sleep with then-Princess Diana first.”

“He’s obsessed with the British Royal family,” Wolff says, as if we didn’t know.

During King Charles’s recent visit to the White House, however, any hopes Tr*mp might have had of becoming besties with the monarch were promptly dashed after a series of bizarre, inappropriate missteps… including Tr*mp playing a game of grab*ss with Melania in full view of photographers.

But according to Wolff, Tr*mp’s royal obsession has some very deep roots, and they lead (unsurprisingly) all the way back to Epstein.

As Wolff told Medias Touch last fall, Tr*mp’s fears around Ghislaine Maxwell’s confessions could connect the dots between Tr*mp, Epstein, and the alleged “p*ssy committee” the two formed as a way to “get girls” for the disgraced Prince Andrew. One might assume the Lolita Express flight logs already tell that story, but it still bears repeating.

The only problem here is that Wolff, whose relationship to Epstein is a matter of extensive record, has had his credibility called into question by his years-long association with Epstein. He also made the not very classy move of casting doubt on Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre’s testimony not long ago.

But even if he’s not the most likeable witness, he clearly knows plenty about the inner workings of the Epstein circle at its height. Wolff has over 100 hours of Epstein recordings due to the longstanding friendship. He was also the one who tipped off the Wall Street Journal about Tr*mp’s 50th birthday doodle. So, he definitely knows things about the Tr*mp-Epstein connection, whatever his plans are for their release.

“Epstein talked about how Tr*mp liked to pick up girls, sleep with other men’s wives,” Wolff told a reporter last summer, “at one point, they shared a girlfriend for almost a year.”

Definitely interesting—but what about the “p*ssy committee” that Wolff claims brought Epstein and Tr*mp together in an effort to provide ex-Prince Andrew with underage girls? According to Andrew Lownie’s investigative biography of Andrew, in 2000, he and Tr*mp shared a list of masseuses, which led to a “conversation about ‘p*ssy.'”

Tr*mp isn’t the only Epstein pal who seems to have discussed this scintillating topic with Andrew. In a recent bombshell expose about Epstein GBF Peter Mandelson’s relationship to the ex-Duke of York, in February of 2000, Andrew’s friendship with Mandelson manifested in a private flight with the p*ssy committee itself. “He met Epstein in Mar-a-Lago with Maxwell, D*nald Tr*mp and Melania,” the Sunday Times reports, “travelling there on Tr*mp’s jet with Maxwell.”

Obviously (and as usual) this doesn’t look good for Tr*mp, who didn’t have too much to say about Andrew’s arrest on the strength of the Epstein file release earlier this year. But until Wolff releases those Epstein tapes, we won’t know the veracity of the “p*ssy committee” legend for certain.

Conrad Ricamora talks about being cut from Devil Wears Prada 2 & shares photos from set

How disappointing must it be to film a role in one of the most eagerly anticipated movie sequels in recent history only to find out you’ve ended up on the cutting room floor?

Well, out-actor Conrad Ricamora shared an insight on that predicament last week. We’re pleased to report that he took it in his stride.

Ricamora (Fire Island, How to Get Away With Murder) was cast in The Devil Wears Prada 2. He played the roommate to Andy (Anne Hathaway’s character). Sadly, his role was axed during the editing process.

Last week, just ahead of the movie’s release, Ricamora shared some behind-the-scenes photos of himself on set. He also included a video of him and Hathaway horsing around between takes. One clip showed him on the set of the Runway magazine office. Swipe through below.

How did The Devil Wears Prada 2 perform at the box office?

Released 20 years after the original movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2 was a box office smash over its opening weekend. It took $77 million at the US box office and a cumulative total of $233 million worldwide.

Deadline notes that “Never before has a female-skewing movie led the first weekend of summer.” Its takings also represent the biggest ever opening weekend for Meryl Streep (beating Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again at $88 million), and Emily Blunt (eclipsing Oppenheimer’s $176 million worldwide opening).

At the US box office, Prada 2 is the fourth biggest opening of the year, behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131 million), Michael ($97.5 million), and Project Hail Mary ($80 million).

The man of the hour is German-Danish male model Frank Christians.

The 55-year-old stunner has been serving Zoolander looks since the ’80s. He’s appeared on countless magazine covers, editorials, runways, and, yes, even the occasional sultry underwear spread.

15 years ago, he transitioned into hosting various TV programs in Germany. Christians returned to the modeling world at the age of 50 has been working nonstop since.

“In 2020 I restarted modeling at the age of 50 as a so-called ‘best ager’ which opened a new market for me,” he told Glamour.

MAGA mouthpiece Ben Shapiro’s empire is crumbling right before our eyes as Tr*mp loyalty backfires

For years, Ben Shapiro has boosted himself as a MAGA bootlicker. But nearly 18 months into D*nald Tr*mp’s second reign of terror, the persnickety podcaster is experiencing a precipitous decline.

Railing against Democrats, LGBTQ+ people and other perceived enemies doesn’t ring the same when Tr*mp is in charge and overseeing the most unpopular war effort since Vietnam. Who could’ve guessed?!

Apparently, not Shapiro, who continues to churn out the same pro-MAGA slop to a dwindling fan base. From his peak in 2023, Shapiro’s YouTube audience is down 85%! Over the last 30 days alone, he’s shed 20,000 subscribers.

In the wake of widespread rejection, Shapiro, never one to consider an alternate point of view, keeps posting the same tired right-wing grievances. Recent YouTube videos are titled “Dear King Charles, STFU” and “The Radical Left’s Hostile Takeover is Here.”

Umm… Ben. Far-right Republicans control the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court! Yes, radicals have overtaken the U.S. government. But they’re not on the left!

It is true that come November, Democrats will likely retake Congress. But that’s because Tr*mp is historically unpopular. His disapproval rating just hit 62%, a record low, even for him.

Why did Shapiro’s audience disappear?

It’s not a coincidence that Shapiro peaked in 2023, along with other cartoonishly aggrieved MAGA sycophants, such as Dan Bongino (back to podcasting after a failed FBI stint) and Kash Patel (still running the FBI and making a fool of himself).

Fed up with high inflation and a gaffe-prone octogenarian in the Oval Office, voters were clamoring for change. Shapiro and other grifters exploited the public’s unhappiness. In Shapiro’s case, that meant demonizing transgender people and acting like trans girls playing high school sports is the biggest issue of our time.

Fast-forward a few years, and voters are outraged by the same issues. Except now, it’s apparent that Shapiro and other grifters were just selling rage bait. Tr*mp’s unauthorized war in Iran has brought the global energy market to a standstill and shot up the price of gas to $5 per gallon in many states. People are in horrible shape.

Yet, Shapiro keeps cheerleading Tr*mp. He’s horribly out of step with the times.

A chart of Shapiro’s weekly YouTube views since 2016 show a steady climb and peak during Joe Biden’s presidency. Outside of those four years–and really only two–he’s largely been irrelevant.

Who’s rising in Shapiro’s place?

This is where it gets interesting: not every right-wing influencer is failing. As Shapiro sees his audience collapse, Tucker Carlson is seeing his grow. This past weekend, New York Times Magazine put Carlson on its cover, and posted a nearly two-hour interview with the former Fox News host.

Over the last year or so, Carlson has been undergoing an MTG-style rebrand. Most notably, he’s broken with Tr*mp over Iran, and even apologized for supporting him in 2024 (gasp). “You have failed,” he told Tr*mp last week.

Carlson’s interview with the New York Times reveals his new nuanced POV. In it, he says much of the issues he spent years ranting about on Fox are nothing but a distraction.

“We can argue about the trans thing. You can have legitimate views on race, legitimate views on trans. Those are real issues,” he said. “But those are not the issues on which empires rise and fall. The real issues are economics and foreign policy.”

Now, it’s worth noting that Carlson was spouting those lines in defense of hosting white supremacist Nick Fuentes on his show. If you think his rebrand is anything but sheer opportunism, we have some Tucker Carlson merch to sell you (it’s actually become popular with the dirtbag leftist Brooklyn crowd, once again proving the political horseshoe theory).

Regardless, Carlson has been a successful pundit for 35 years, and clearly sees the energy is turning against Tr*mp.

A dose of irony

Candace Owens made her name at The Daily Wire. But since leaving the company in early 2024, she’s focused on tearing it down.

A chief conspiracy theorist, Owens has claimed without evidence that Emmanuel Macron’s wife is a man and a myriad other mistruths. For years, the Daily Wire was content to platform her and monetize her audience. But now, they’re crying foul.

Owens said this past weekend that Daily Wire cut 50% of its staff, which angered its editor-in-chief. He dismissed her report as “insane.”

Yes, the company had layoffs today. It’s always really tough.
