Chi Ossé was busy making the fight for affordability in New York City hot years before Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor—and if you’re looking for a young politician to crush on, Ossé is actually queer!

When he was just 23 years old, Ossé was elected to the New York City Council in 2021. He represents District 36, home of Bed-Stuy, a historically Black and rapidly gentrifying neighborhood in Brooklyn. During his initial campaign, Ossé was adamant that housing is a human right. And he’s demonstrated that he’s willing to put his body on the line to defend it.

Last month, he was arrested while protesting against a Bed-Stuy resident’s wrongful eviction.

In a podcast episode where Ossé discussed the “Blasian Agenda” (his father is Haitian-American and his mother is Chinese and Black,) he also talked about how he gained 25 pounds of muscle in the last year to help prepare for situations like the one in which he was arrested. His workout regimen was profiled in Vogue–far from the first time that Ossé has been featured in a glossy magazine.

In defiance of the White House, Stonewall’s rainbow flag was re-raised
When the rainbow flag came down at Stonewall, NYC’s queer community sprang into action.

During his time representing the 36th district, Ossé has consistently fought for the communities he belongs to. He co-chairs the LGBTQIA+ Caucus for the NYC Council and also serves on the Progressive Caucus and the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus. He had a street named for his father on the block where he was raised.

In 2025, the 28-year-old strongly supported a package of bills to help support trans immigrants and inequities in healthcare for trans people. The Chosen Family Law Center applauded these laws as some of the strongest trans rights protections in existence.

“I’ll keep it brief, but I’m proud to vote on this package of bills today that will simply save lives,” he said during a city council meeting, “I certainly stand with the trans community, and I personally have not met one trans person who has caused harm to children or anyone for that matter.”

The legislation passed, despite opposition from other council members.

According to Ossé’s most recent Instagram post, as we head into Pride month, he and Mamdani are working together to fight “deed theft,” a practice in which landlords fraudulently obtain signatures, often from elderly homeowners, to obtain the deeds to their homes and evict them.

This was what Ossé was arrested for demonstrating against. As he points out in his video with Mamdani, many of the homeowners affected were Black and Brown people in Brooklyn and Queens.

Insecure housing is also an issue that disproportionately affects LGBTQ people, which is why housing is one of the main issues that Ossé campaigned on. As the youngest member on the NYC Council, Ossé promises to keep fighting for the most marginalized in our community for years to come.

Former US Congressman Barney Frank died Tuesday evening at the age of 86. He entered hospice care last month as his health declined due to congestive heart failure.

The Democrat served as a Representative for Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013. He came out publicly as gay in 1987.

In 2012, he became the first member of Congress to enter into a same-sex marriage, marrying his longtime partner, Jim Ready.

Many who worked with him and those inspired by him paid tribute to Frank following news of his passing.

Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform

Barack Obama called Frank “one of a kind.” The former President highlighted how Frank “stood up for the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans, and helped pass one of the most sweeping financial reforms in history designed to protect consumers.”

Although some conservatives claim that Frank’s support for expanding homeownership through government-backed mortgage entities during the 2000s led to the 2008 financial crash, most economists criticize this as an oversimplification and point to a number of factors behind the meltdown.

After the crash, Frank was the co-sponsor of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The legislation was designed to protect consumers following the 2008 financial collapse.

Pete Buttigieg also paid tribute. He recalled how Frank had inspired him as a young man.

Campaigner Evan Wolfson (former President of Freedom To Marry), said, “He had his flaws, we had our disagreements, and, like so many who worked with him, I had a few face-to-face arguments with him (which wasn’t easy)…but #BarneyFrank was a giant, a pioneer, and a hero … Congress needs the likes of him. And I will miss him.”

Barney Frank’s final thoughts on Tr*mp

Aware that he didn’t have much longer to live, Barney Frank gave some media interviews in the last month.

Last week, Boston-area radio station WBUR ran one of Frank’s final interviews, conducted in hospice.

“As to Tr*mp, I have developed my theory about him: It’s not just that he’s bad on all these values, but he is an idiot savant,” Frank said. “He has just one talent: an ability to exploit anger that got him into power. But having gotten into power, he’s got nothing left, and that’s why now he’s just floundering.”

“I can’t think of an issue on which he’s popular. The Iran war, the fight with the Pope, the economy, even immigration, where the left was dead wrong in its excessive openness, he’s managed to make himself more unpopular,” Frank continued. “His anger, his narcissism, all of the negative parts of his personality have asserted themselves, and he really doesn’t have much of a positive vision of things to offset that.”

The comments follow one that Frank made in late April to Politico: “One of my regrets is that I won’t see the continued implosion of Donald Tr*mp.”

The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival isn’t over yet, but the gays have already won!

Boasting an exceptionally queer lineup, this year’s fest has seen a bidding war for Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, a proper hero’s welcome for legendary auteur Pedro Almodóvar, and strong receptions for new works from both Ira Sachs (The Man I Love) and Jane Schoenbrun (Teenage Sex & Death At Camp Miasma).

And now Javier Ambrossi & Javier Calvo—a.k.a. “Los Javis”—have unveiled their latest, The Black Ball (or, “La Bola Negra”), a sweeping gay war epic that’s being hailed as a masterpiece.

Response to the film has been so immediately strong that many critics are tipping it for one of Cannes’ top prizes this year. Others, meanwhile, are already buzzing about its Oscars chances. Wait a minute, could Los Javis be the first recurring Drag Race judges to win an Academy Award?

Perhaps best known internationally as co-hosts/judges of Drag Race España and for their acclaimed miniseries Veneno about the eponymous trans icon La Veneno, Los Javis have been working together ever since they first met & began dating back in 2012.

Unfortunately, last fall, the power couple announced they were breaking up after 13 years together, but maintained they’d continue to work as creative collaborators, which is good news because at the time they were in the middle of filming what would become The Black Ball (their first feature since 2017’s Holy Camp!, an adaptation of their acclaimed stage musical La Llamada).

But whatever drama or personal strife might’ve been going on behind the scenes doesn’t show on the screen because The Black Ball is being hailed as “a monumental work of art.” Critic Richard Lawson writes that it’s “a big gay epic staged with heaps of thought and style,” calling Los Javis “the real deal.”

So, what’s all the hubbub about?

What’s The Black Ball about?

The Black Ball is a triptych of stories set across three different time periods, the threads connecting each of them a mystery that’s unspooled in this historical saga about romance, war, identity, and the legacies we leave behind for future generations.

The main thrust of the film takes place in 1937, where rising singer-songwriter Guittaricadelafuente is said to make a phenomenal acting debut as Sebastián, a young man who survives an attack on his rural village during the Spanish Civil War only to be conscripted into the fascist army.

Stationed at a military hospital, he’s meant to keep an eye on a leftist prisoner named Rafael (Elite‘s Miguel Bernardeau)—a character based on real-life Spanish footballer Rafael Rodríguez Rapún—though he’s challenged by his growing romantic feelings for his charge.

In another story set five years earlier—and notably before the revolution—a young man named Carlos (newcomer Milo Quifes) attempts to become a member of his family’s high-end casino, but is black-balled because of his suspected homosexuality, hence the film’s title. Also, apparently Penelope Cruz figures into this plot line as a lounge singer, which sounds fabulous and is enough to sell us on the movie sight unseen.

And, finally, in 2017, openly gay writer Alberto (Carlos González Morollón) is grieving a death in his family when he learns of a surprising queer lineage his estranged mother never told him about it. Within this plot line, queer comic Julio Torres plays his boyfriend, while none other than Glenn Close plays an American historian researching Spain’s past. So, yeah, Los Javis really know how to give they gays everything they want!

How The Black Ball connects queer history to our current moment

If the above didn’t make clear, The Black Ball is a film of massive scope and ambition, intended to make a lasting impression on the worlds of queer & international cinema, not to mention Spanish culture.

“Javi and I were tired of the feeling that LGBT stories are niche,” Javier Ambrossi shares with Variety. “I love those films, too, but I needed to make a big movie with gay actors portraying gay characters. We wanted to make the biggest film we could make in Spain and to make it a statement. We deserve to have big movies and LGBT people deserve to be the leads of big movies.”

And, if all goes according to plan, audiences might just learn something about the past from the movie, too. It is, in many ways, inspired by the life & work of Federico García Lorca, the openly gay Spanish poet & playwright who was assassinated by fascist forces at the beginning of his country’s Civil War.

In fact, The Black Ball is a title of one of Lorca’s many unfinished works, which itself becomes a key part of the overarching narrative. It’s also worth noting that the writer was once in a relationship with soccer player Rafael Rodríguez Rapún—the same one who appears as a character in this very film.

In other words, Los Javis’ latest is alive with the spirit of Lorca, a brilliant mind taken from our world too soon, who nevertheless has endured as a symbol of resistance against fascism and homophobia. Are you seeing why the duo felt this was a necessary story to tell at this point in our global history?

“Hopefully, when young audiences go to see The Black Ball, they will go to the bookstore and buy some of [Lorca’s] books and tell the world what happened to him,” Ambrossi tells Variety. “He was killed very young by fascists, and that cannot happen again.”

Suddenly, The Black Ball has become our most-anticipated movie… ever? It’s already set for theatrical release in Spain this October, and given the rapturous reception, we’d imagine it’s only a matter of time before someone picks it up for American theaters, likely before the year is up.

And, who knows? Come award season next year, Los Javis might just be sashaying from the Drag Race main stage to the Oscars stage!

It’s been four months since Queer Eye ended its 10-season run on Netflix and now co-host Tan France is making big changes in his personal life.

The 43-year-old fashion expert has been married to his illustrator husband Rob France since 2007. The couple share two sons: four-year-old Ismail and two-year-old Isaac.

The $7.5 million dream home

Since 2021, the couple have been living in a massive three-acre estate inside a gated community in London New York Los Angeles Salt Lake City. That’s right, call the Real Housewives or the Mormon Wives because Queer Eye‘s style guru lives in Utah. Who knew?!

Unfortunately, the couple, who built the entire property from the ground up, have made the decision to sell their “dream home”, which is currently listed for a whopping $7.5 million, according to Maison Global.

Those Netflix dollars go a long way in Utah!

The 6,903-square-foot estate is no joke. With a stunning tudor-style exterior, the 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom residence features a formal dining room, chef’s kitchen, butler’s pantry, home theater, and a primary suite with a 1,000-square-foot closet. That’s one closet many would be happy to jump back into!

Other amenities include a heated driveway for those brutal SLC winters, a fully enclosed glass atrium in the garden, swimming pool, two-car garage, and separate unit that includes a full bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and a gym, per the Salt Lake Tribune.

France and his husband finished renovating the the property in 2023 and it was subsequently featured in Architectural Digest the following year.

Why are they selling that insane estate?

Now, selling a home so near and dear to their heart – which they spent years working on to their exact specifications – doesn’t come easy for the reality star and his husband of nearly 20 years.

On Tuesday, France broke his silence and revealed the reason why they couple have decided to unload what they thought would be their “forever home.”

“I’m going to quickly address something that a lot of people have asked me about today and we actually made the news. Yes, we are selling our Salt Lake City home. It’s a house that we are crazy about, that we thought was gonna be our forever home,” the Netflix star began in an Instagram video.

He went on to say how the husbands felt like their lives had become stale despite loving their insanely luxurious digs.

Empire state of mind

“We live like senior citizens who are retired. And I might be old, but I’m not that old. And for the last 10 years or so, I’ve said no to almost everything because I already fly so much for work that I don’t want to go to New York just for events and to hang out with friends,” France added. “And so it means that we just live in this bubble, which is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but we’re not really living. We’re just kind of getting through life.”

With that in mind, they decided a big change was needed to reinvogorate their lives and that requires moving to arguably the busiest, loudest place in the country.

“And so we talked about that a lot over the last few months, and we decided that we’re going to move to New York,” he shared. “So, yeah, it is wild that we would give up that house. I love that house so much. It has been my favorite home. But we’re gonna do something that hopefully it’s really exciting.”

The news of his pending Manhattan move got the approval of many of France’s celeb pals.

“Fully support,” wrote fellow Queer Eye alum Antoni Porowski, who also lives in Manhattan.

“Omg yay!!! So happy to hear this!” added former Top Chef host and fellow NYC resident Padma Lakshmi.

“Welcome home!!!!!” commented Survival of the Thickest creator/star Michelle Buteau, who lives in the Bronx.

With his relocation to the Big Apple, France will continue to host his YouTubes series The Honorable Gays with comedian Rob Anderson and influencer Eric Sedeño.

While we’re happy for the France family move, we can’t help be jealous for whoever inherits that sick closet! 😭

While the current administration has been working tirelessly to silence the queer community, the importance of Pride Month has never felt more urgent and essential.

The right wing’s anti-LGBTQ+ dystopian plan has led to a rise in the cancellation of Pride festivals due to lack of funding over DEI backlash and the abandonment by corporations who fear White House retaliation despite previously splashing rainbows all over logos and apparel during the month of June.

But not everyone has deserted us.

On Wednesday, we told you how Converse debuted their new Pride collection, which upped the rainbow eleganza to 100 with merch that supports several LGBTQ non-profits.

On the other end of the spectrum, Levi’s is taking a different approach in how they show their unwavering support to the community. The iconic denim brand’s 2026 Pride collection is ditching the rainbows and instead celebrating the grittier side of queer resilience by taking inspiration from the gay motorcycle clubs of the early LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Bull dykes and leather daddies, rise!

Gay motorcycle clubs

Gay motorcycle clubs go back to the 1950s and were initially a way for queer men to assemble in a safe space and form camaraderie. LA’s Satyrs Motorcycle Club is considered to be the longest running group having been established in 1954. By the ’70s, the biker bands had exploded in popularity with clubs across the nation, including: NY’s Empire City Motorcycle Club, Stonewall Knights in South Florida, and the queer women-focused Dykes on Bikes.

Entitled “Together We Ride”, the Levi’s collection “pays homage to the trailblazers who carved out spaces of belonging on the open road, reminding us that Pride is not only a celebration, but an act of visibility and survival,” the company said in a statement.

And to make sure they were keeping it authentic as possible, Levi’s collection took inspiration from leather, hardware and graphics sourced by the GLBT Historical Society archives in San Francisco.

The merch is focused on the biker aesthetic with items that include a leather-like coated denim vest and chaps “designed to capture the look and spirit of the open road.” That and your favorite local fetish bar.

No kink-shaming in this house.

Other pieces include a Pride Cropped Muscle Tank, denim Pride Trucker Jacket emblazoned with “Free to Be” graphic with a pink triangle on the back, a studded pair of Levi’s 501s, and a Pride Biker black bandana.

Perhaps Charlie XCX is right, rock and roll is back!

Rainbows for all

There’s also a monochromatic Rainbow Motorcycle Club t-shirt that is devoid of any vibrant hues. Black is our favorite color anyway.

But for those looking for a more stereotypical Pride moment, Levi’s does include their Pride community tee with the brand’s logo immersed inside a standard rainbow. Everybody wins.

Naysayers may think Levi’s going 99% rainbow-free for the Pride collection gives the line a more universal appeal that offers a way to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in a very subtle way so as to not “offend” the homophobic Karens of the world. Yet, it also satiates members of the queer community that bemoan companies slapping rainbows on everything for 30 days as a performative act that doesn’t really benefit the gays.

While we should be loud and proud, does Pride merch have to be?

What’s interesting is, that as of press time, Levi’s has yet to promote the Pride line on Instagram or TikTok despite it being available as of May 19th.

Since Levi’s is also donating $100,000 to Outright International, a global organization working to advance human rights for LGBTQIA+ people all over the world, we are giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are not keeping the Pride line on the down low and will be promoting it on social media in the days to come. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, who co-authored the Epstein Files Transparency Act with Massie, claimed that his collaborator lost because he had “the guts to stand up to the Epstein class.”

Massie stuck out his neck to make sure the Epstein files—including Tr*mp’s thousands of mentions inside—were released to the public last year. “Releasing the Epstein files put me on the wrong side of the president for quite a while,” he explained, “but on the right side of my constituents, who had been promised that we would release the Epstein files.”

One thing about the Epstein class? They’re positively loaded. After Bernie Sanders and others started following the money to expose exactly how much it cost Tr*mp to lose Massie his race, the congressman’s defeat is starting to look like a major problem for Tr*mp.

In yesterday’s speech, Sanders laid out the facts. Massie, he explains, was defeated after the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC spent $9 million to boost the opposition, combined with $7 million from “Tr*mp SuperPACs. “Tr*mp Megadonors.”

In total, Tr*mp spent a whopping $32 million in an effort to oust Massie from his seat, and it worked. The problem? Now everyone’s talking about the money, and Massie is starting to look like a folk hero.

“They spent 32.6 million dollars to silence one man,” Don Lemon reported on a recent livestream, noting that the tab makes Massie’s race “the most expensive primary in American history.”

But if Tr*mp thought that was the end of the story, he was wrong. Now citizens across party lines are voicing their distaste with Tr*mp’s blatant attempt to buy a new congressman in Kentucky—ostensibly one who will agree with him on every policy, or else.

Unfortunately for him, it’s not the end of Massie. As Lemon explains, the Kentucky congressman now has seven months where he’s accountable to no one and beholden to zero donors, PACs, or parties. He is free to unleash hell on the GOP, and it’s possible that’s just what he’ll do.

Massie isn’t alone in this awkward position: fellow Republican Bill Cassidy, who also got ousted by Tr*mp Bucks during his primary on Tuesday, is also starting to raise a ruckus during his remaining months in office. After helping to slash the funding plans for Tr*mp’s billion-dollar ballroom, Cassidy is now focusing on torching the president’s $1.8 billion weaponization slush fund. He’s hitting Tr*mp where it hurts, and luckily, he’s not alone.

“People are concerned about paying their mortgage or rent, affording groceries and paying for gas, not about putting together a $1.8 billion fund for the President and his allies to pay whomever they wish with no legal precedent or accountability,” Cassidy tweeted yesterday, stating that Tr*mp’s payout fund was substantially contributing to the national debt. Massie also held Tr*mp’s feet to the fire with his remarks about the president being in Israel’s pocket.

That’s the problem with Tr*mp’s new position. In the past, all he had to do was say “you’re fired!” and the offending worker would be handed an NDA and instantly whisked out of sight. Fortunately, that’s not how it works in congress—yet. For the next seven months, Massie is going to be a pain in Tr*mp’s side, and possibly other places. And on X, he’s already chosen chaos. We love to see it!

As Massie himself pointed out in his concession speech, “we have the younger demographic.” Gen Z support for Tr*mp has already tanked, and if continues along this path, the midterms are going to be a MAGA bloodbath. Massie, meanwhile, will look like a true American hero in the history books.

As a younger man raised in a mostly-white Kentucky suburb, Culto stood out. He was forced to attend a Brazilian ex-gay ministry by the church that wanted to break him of his “SSA” tendencies. Needless to say, it didn’t work.

“I remember I first connected with this one guy over Zoom briefly. He was essentially a counselor for people who are attracted to the same sex,” Culto tells Queer Kentucky in a new profile. “And I remember leaving that Zoom call, thinking… ‘he was the success story?’” 

Culto survived the harrowing experience and is now actively fighting against the anti-gay propaganda that put him there. “There was no one affirming me in my journey of leaving Christianity to accept my queerness,” he recalls. “It felt like everyone thought I was insane.”

It wasn’t easy for a former youth pastor who once considered going away to seminary school. But when he finally got the strength to come out, things changed for the better. “Even just like, something as simple as a jock strap,” he recalls, “I’d be like, “Oh, that’s so cringe. Like, why are people literally showing their a** in a jock strap?” He says of his early days out of the closet. “And now that’s a whole part of Cain Culto in all my videos, I’m leaning into queer symbols, and how that feels empowering to me.”

Obviously, it wasn’t an easy transition. In 2021, Culto ditched his Evangelical upbringing for good and started embracing his queerness, along with his Colombian-Nicaraguan roots. After an emotional breakdown that had him questioning everything, he started making music under his new persona. The music he learned to play as a Christian kid–including his insane classical violin skills—were now a super gay rebuke of the church’s anti-gay leanings. Out of this rebuke, Cain Culto was born.

Culto’s religious roots still had a place in his life, only now, they were tools to fight against oppression and anti-gay shame.

“Cain Culto, as a music project and…my artistic practice, is trying to undo these things, the things that I was taught to be ashamed of, to be afraid of within myself, embracing those things truly, finally,” he says. That undoing is also what paved the way for Culto’s bouncy, beat-driven bops that reference anime, tarot, witchcraft, and getting his nails did. And his “classical music about butts,” naturally.

Now, with his addictive beats and in-your-face style, he’s poised for a world takeover. “I’m trying to write something new over that narrative in my own life that doesn’t end in tragedy,” he says.

By doing that for himself, he’s helping countless others see a path forward.

A hot man and his “slutty little glasses” may be taking over our feeds for the second straight summer. Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff, always one to light up the cameras, looks great in eyewear.

Channeling Jonathan Bailey, the handsome Dem has been known to brandish specs at Senate hearings. A journalist named Seema Jilani concluded that Ossoff looks like the stoic and dreamy savior of our dreams, and it’s hard to disagree.

“He is giving hot Atticus Finch here,” she said, referencing the fictional legal hero.

Despite the GOP’s gross gerrymandering, Democrats remain favored to flip the House in November. But the Senate, where the bias towards rural states gives Republicans a built-in electoral advantage, has always been a tougher prospect. Still, with Tr*mp’s approval rating at a low, Democrats have a chance to regain control of the upper chamber.

But that would likely require all Dem incumbents to hold onto their seats. For years, Ossoff was viewed as one of the party’s most vulnerable members. A political unknown, he narrowly won a run-off in January 2021 on the heels of Joe Biden’s Georgia victory and an insurmountable blue wave.

But after the country’s rightward swing in ’24, Ossoff seemed to be in jeopardy. Tr*mp carried Georgia by 2%, once again coloring the Southern state and long-time GOP stronghold in red.

Then he started governing for the sole benefit of himself, his family and his allies. And few Democrats have been more effective at calling out Tr*mp’s grotesque corruption than Ossoff.

For months, he’s been reading Tr*mp and his cronies to filth… with or without his slutty little accessories (more recently, it’s been without).

His preferred setting is behind a lectern, where he can stand tall and blast Tr*mp in his authoritative baritone. Ossoff was one of the first politicians to label Tr*mp and his billionaire boosters members of the “Epstein class.”

As the Epstein Files show, business and finance tycoons don’t view themselves as part of a collective project. They only want to enrich themselves.

“We were told that MAGA was for working-class Americans. But this is a government of, by, and for the ultra-rich,” he said at a notable speech in February. “It’s the wealthiest Cabinet ever. This is the Epstein class. They are the elites they pretend to hate.”

Since then, Tr*mp’s corruption has only become more brazen. The latest atrocity is the creation of a $1.8 billion, taxpayer-funded slush fund for his allies, supporters and J6ers. The New York Times has called it the biggest presidential corruption scandal in history.

For the last decade, Democrats have largely countered Tr*mp’s deplorable and often illegal actions with stern letters and finger wagging. Ossoff, who’s the youngest member of the Senate at 39, offers a message with far more force.

At a recent rally, he said a Democratic majority would come armed with “gavels and subpoenas.”

On MS Now last night, Ossoff challenged his eventual Republican opponent in November to defend Tr*mp’s corrupt use of taxpayer dollars.

“I am running in Georgia against two Tr*mp lackeys who, you can rest assured as they race for the President’s approval, would be voting for this crooked ballroom and this insurrectionist slush fund,” he said.

Speaking of November, Ossoff is set to face either Rep. Mike Collins or Rep. Buddy Carter, two diehard MAGA bootlickers. They are heading towards what promises to be a contested run-off.

Meanwhile, Ossoff received more votes in his uncontested primary on Tuesday than all of the Republican candidates combined.

If Ossoff pulls off a win this year, he will most certainly be billed as a presidential front-runner. In recent months, Democrats have been rallying around the “vote for hot guys” election strategy, and it’s paid off in a big way. Ossoff certainly fits that mold.

Smart, young and hot? If only we didn’t need him in the Senate!
