The QuickWood Finish Sanders are often called the Final Sanding Machine as it’s the last machine your doors or moldings will go though before stain and sealer. QuickWood offer many different machines from Molding sanders to door sanders and everything in between. Most of the QuickWood machines can be used for the final sand before stain and sealer and for sealer sanding. Some machines even offer double sided brushes where you can put one grit sanding in one direction and another grit sanding in the opposite direction. As you can see from the pictures below QuickWood manufactures many different machines, look around on the site and you will find more information about the QuickWood machines.

The QuickWood finishing sander is used for a final sand before the wood is ready for stain and sealer. The finishing sander is used to sand wood with a profile so that all areas of the material will be sanded exactly the same. This assures uniformity is grain opening. Since normal belts cannot do this job QuickWood has developed a special brush/abrasive combination that is flexible enough to go into the profile and sand in a deeply recessed area. The maximum flex of a brush sanding machine is approximately 1 and ½ inches or almost 150mm. This will work on most all cabinet doors, mouldings, door fronts and other 3 diamentional pieces.

Using the QuickWood brush abrasive system offers the following benefit to wood products before stain and sealer is applied:

* Even Sanding to guarantee consistent pore opening which will eliminate blotchy stain color

* Uniform edge break (slight rounding) of sharp edges and corners to eliminate weak areas in the finish where stain and sealer will not adhere.

*Removing of loose fibers in the surface of the wood both in the profile and on the top surfaces. This will reduce the consumption of sealer that has to be applied as the wood fibers will not absorb the sealer. Also removing the fibers before stain and sealer reduces the fiber pop or roughness that is felt on the surface after the sealer has dried. This will make sealer sanding much easier and make for a better finish.

*Color consistency piece after piece. Most people know that hand sanding is inconsistent at best. Utilizing a machine to sand the door with even pressure gives the work piece uniformity in color as each area of each piece of material is sanded exactly the same.

In an effort to help assist in controlling labor cost and keep machine purchase cost under control QuickWood has developed the L Series of sanders.

These units are based on the ‘Tried and True’ proven performance platform of the PRO and Elite Series rotary finish sanders. QuickWood has answered the call for a lower cost machine for automating raw wood and sealer sanding of three dimensional and flat work pieces of wood, MDF, and laminates.

Due to cost cutting measures in the manufacturing and assembly processes and less sophisticated machine control methods QuickWood has released the L Series of sanders at a substantial reduction of 38% off of the Elite Series Sanders of comparable size and capability.

The L Series use the same rotary carousel unit as the Elite Series. The L 800 is a four head machine with a 36 inch wide conveyor while the L 1100 and L 1400 are both eight head machines with 43 and 55 inch wide conveyors respectfully.

All three versions of the L Series come standard with QuickWood’s spindle reversing system. This option allows the use of QuickWood double sided brush and abrasives. This gives the machine much greater versatility in that you can change from raw wood sanding to sealer sanding by the push of a button as opposed to stopping operations while abrasive heads are changed out from one task to another.

The new L Series has all the controls of the more expensive Elite units but without the bilingual color touch screen. The controls for this newly designed machine are located on the corner column at the infeed end of the conveyor. Controls can be mounted at right or left to suit your work environment.

This machine is made for the big heavy logs and it will do 4 sides of the log with a rustic brushing.

QuickWood also makes machine for smaller rustic brushing projects. There are different types of steel brushes that are used for different looks.

If you are sanding aluminum parts with jitterbug sanders or orbital sanders this machine will help you out both on productivity and injuries. The QuickWood Classic 1300 will jitterbug aluminum parts at 10-15 feet per min in through feed. The machine is 51″ wide and parts can put across the conveyor belt and will be sanded in the process. The sanding pattern of the machine is a random pattern like a handheld jitterbug sander but at speeds no person can duplicate. The machine has a build in vacuum system that can hold down parts as small as credit card size parts while getting sanded. The fine sanding scratches in the aluminum surface will be in a random partner and the edges will be radius by the sander so no sharp edge is exposed.

QuickWood has a lot of customers using the QuickWood automatic machines as a scratching machine to achieve Adhesion on the next coat. The process of using random orbital hand sanders to make a rand scratch pattern on a product to achieve adhesion for the next coat can only be used in very small operations as the manual labor will kill an operation like this if any product should be done. The process of producing a random scratch on a surface that is flat or a surface that has profiles is what the automatic quickwood machines does. The machines are anywhere from 12″ to 51″ in width as a standard and special wider machines can also be made. The machine can put a random scratch in the surface at speeds of 10 to 50 feet per min. This will increase production and the labor savings are huge. The material the QuickWood machines will work on are Metal,Platstic,Fiberglass, composit material and wood.

Give us a call and we will tell you more about getting an automatic machine for creating radom scratches in a surface for adhesion.
