All of those who know me well, know that I keep an eye open to find problem areas in internet marketing where I could possibly build either a solution, or simply find answers to such problems and share with my lists.

When Google+ was announced, I wasn't really surprised (obviously, I am sure this applies to majority of the people out there). Despite the fact that services like Google Wave and Google buzz, didn't really make it to the top of the social lists, we all were, in one way or the other, waiting for Google to launch their social network.

What have I been up to since July 2010?

My previous months were totally action filled including a lot of travel including Calgary, Toronto, San Francisco, Washington, Las Vegas ;), and India.

A lot of these travels included a lot of learning experiences that would surely help me as I move forward and hopefully I will be able to share some valuable information with you all as well.

Currently I am working in New York City on a very interesting project.

Hello Website Owners!

While using my newest version of Long Tail Magic I discovered that more than 40% of traffic coming to my sites (including Raakesh.com) are cell phone users. My Browser Report on Long Tail Magic showed me that people using Androids, IPhone, Ipad, Blackberry, and Palm PCs are visiting my sites. Here's a raw snapshot:

A Good Work from Home Forum in the making

Hey, this is a quick post to tell you about a forum I have recently been visiting, and I happened to like it a lot.

An internet forum is a good place to get answers to your questions, at the same time get ideas of what other's in your niche are talking about. A forum is a two way communication between you, and so many other people who share similar or different opinions as you.

Ready for Raid de Himalaya 2010

11 years ago, I participated in the Raid de Himalaya 1999. Our team effort was a success and we won the best team prize as most of our team mates won the top 5 positions of the raid.

After a gap of one year, I went back to the raid once again in 2001 with similar results. We won all the top positions of the Raid in various motorcycle categories. I won the 1st prize for my category.

I was prepared to participated in the 2002 Raid de Himalaya but some personal commitments took over

I know this is kind of late but hey, there are still some great names waiting to be registered.

I am in a way happy that the price for .co domains is higher so that not everyone would go and grab the good ones, but none the less, some companies / individuals are registering these day in and day out. I saw some good ones going in front of my eyes.

I am not saying that I am not on the lookout for some good .co domain names, but here is your chance to grab some while things are not too clear to the others.

Here's the trick:
Visit www.raakesh.com/dotco and you will be redirected to one of the leading domain name registrar. But guess what? There is no visible button (at least as of April 26, 2010) that says "REGISTER A .CO DOMAIN HERE".

That is good for you because many individuals and companies can not see how to register a .co domain.

My answer is "NO" but it is really interesting how Google Inc can just about do anything they want, while so many companies out there are just busy competing. It is Google's Business Model that just lets them make a new product and have it delivered to millions of users on the very first day and then start making billions of dollars with those apps, without their users paying them a dime.

Google's Strategic Placement of Ads

If you are like me, and use Gmail I am sure you would have accidentally clicked Google Ads placed just upon the "Back to Inbox" link. Since I am also an advertiser, every time I accidentally click on a sponsored ad, I go "Ouch" as I didn't really intend to click on the ads.

But, in the process of this little accident, the advertiser lost money, and Google made money. I am not saying this is a scam, but this is a very strategic placement of ads because of these reasons:
1. The ads are relevant to the email I just opened.

New Test: Drupal + RSS = Relevant Content

I like to do a lot of testing of various objects before I start using them on my own projects. I have been playing with RSS a lot lately and believe me, I am totally stunned to see how well Drupal handles RSS.

I have used Drupal CMS for a long time now, and actually this site was the first site I migrated from handcoded PHP / MySQL / HTML to Drupal. After seeing a huge traffic (Organic Search Traffic) benefit on Drupal, I migrated a lot of my sites to Drupal and started using Drupal more and more for new projects.

I already wrote an article about Google Listen for Android Community. Now I want to tell you how to make an RSS (XML) file for your podcasts so that you could submit that to Apple iTunes for iPhone and iPod users, as well as use the same RSS file to subscribe to your podcasts using Google Listen.

Google Listen does not have a way for us (podcast makers) to submit our podcasts to Google's podcast directory, but we can add it to our phones (Android Phones) and subscribe.

Google Listen Add Podcast

Google Listen is only limited to Android users (as of Nov 1, 2009). The new app lets your Android phone (like my HTC G1), communicate with Google Podcast Directory and download / subscribe to Podcast Feeds. The good thing is that unlike other services offered by some cell phone manufacturers out there, Google Listen is not limited to just podcasts submitted to the directory by the podcast owners, rather it is added using Google's powerful web-based rank metrics, allowing a much much wider variety than the ones I just referred to.

Since a few days I have been checking out my Twitter homepage and have not really been able to follow anyone literally. My Twitter homepage had become more like a Javascript Ticker. So I decided to unfollow quite a lot of heavy tweet'ers and added a saved search for them instead. This way I can look at their tweets when I want, and I can actually understand what one is saying, and also follow through on things that might interest me. While on my homepage, I still have some Tweets from people I communicate with on a regular basis.

While at Howie's workshop, I opened up some time slot during a personalized session to help students with any technical issues they were having, so here came a student with an issue about an RSS feed. He got an RSS designed through a website and they gave him a static RSS that didn't update itself. So instead of modifying their RSS script which would have taken me much longer, I decided to write a new one ... It wasn't one of those tech geek issues, but it was something that people like myself would dread messing with too much.

Since I have understood pretty well how Wordpress works now, it took a few minutes to get that script out there and sure enough here is a testimonial:

Very interestingly InstantLP is an advanced landing page generator software that looks stupid simple. Simple enough to make people wonder if it is even a landing page software that can build an entire website around your website, or is it just another text editor... :)

I can only assure you that InstantLP can do all that and even more. Here is a video where I create a new website (EnduroGear.info) from scratch an in less than 5 minutes. And even though it sounds like I am trying to diffuse a bomb ;) you could create a nice site with all the good stuff added in an average of 15 - 20 minutes max.
